Happy Father's Day!
The calming bristle of leaves brushing together and the glorious sun's steaming rays poured down onto the luscious green grass below, giving a comforting warmth of tranquility. Vast, unique and shockingly natural hoops sprung out proudly from the ground in the far distance, matched with epic tracks that red trainers once sprinted upon.
Now those same red shoes traipsed carefully as blue ears listened to the singing birds and crunches of the blades of grass below. Emerald green eyes scanned the early afternoon view before them. A grand yet simple white gate nearing with a fence spreading across the ground to create a large rectangle to match. This mobian's visual perspective couldn't stretch further than the aforementioned hoops beyond this gate.
Hands hidden under white gloves fiddled with the cuffs of each before moving to link together behind six large quills, sounds of paper crumpling following. One hand then lowered to this mobians left side with a sunflower tightly in their grasp, the other moving over to smooth out the petals.
Shoulders tensed as a deep exhale escaped the green eyed mobians lips. Only then did they reach out for the gate that was presently just in arms reach. Red shoes stalled in their travel as the protests and groans of the gate sounded from the mobian opening it for the yearly visit....

"Time sure flies by. Difficult to say wherever that's because ya havin' fun or are just always busy."
Blue eyelids opened to reveal emerald green eyes underneath. There was no need to think back on his arrival here. So, he focused on the paper and sunflower held in his hands.
"I um...Eggman is still at it, heh. Tails is doing well too. Um...."
He glanced over his shoulder prior to scanning his surroundings. Then took a deep breath before returning to the items in his grip, simultaneously shifting to sit on his lower legs.
"This never really gets easier, ya know? Especially...today. I guess overtime you just learn how to shoulder it on better. I...I should start by sayin' sorry I guess. 'Really gotta try and visit more, heh. I won't make excuses, but just know I'm super sorry. This is way past uncool, only visiting once a year. It...it's just hard to wrap my head around still I suppose. And with the constant threat of new or old bad guys...."
He set the paper on his lap to fiddle with his ear as he managed to smile, even a small chuckle escaping his lips.
"Just said I wouldn't make excuses didn't I? Heh, sorry. L-look...." He squeezed the sunflower tighter.
"H-Hey! Chilli dogs are still my favourite so...not much has changed since...ya know. I still ask myself the same thing every year, wherever you can actually hear me or not. I like to think you can. Hey, remember when you gave me guitar lessons every weekend?" The smile started to grow. "Or when we would prank Ma? Or interrupt Uncle Chuck whenever he was busy?" A layer of water washed over his eyes.
"E-even through all the practical jokes, challenges, lessons or when we'd end up sleeping on the sofa I...I...." A shaky exhale followed. "I still love you. I g-guess I wanted to let you know that. A-and to say thanks.... For always protectin' me. For never failing to make me laugh. For always k-keeping your cool and all around being the best there is. I...."
He dropped his face into his hands, letting the sunflower fall, as a small droplet of water squeezed out from his glistening eyes.
"Chaos...." He whispered.
The blue quilled mobian rubbed his eyes and only after a few sniffles did he raise his head. He sniffed once more prior to holding the sunflower and paper, then rested his forehead against the stone opposing him. Emerald green eyes then disappeared behind blue eyelids.
Only the sounds of tweeting birds and flowing leaves could be heard, accompanied by the light breeze. Blue quills gently swayed as matching ears grasped at the calming noises as much as they could. Another deep breath followed prior to the mobian sitting back, though his left hand stayed resting against the stone. His head tilted a touch as a smile formed again.
"Ya know, I'm lucky to of had something that makes sayin' goodbye so hard. But I suppose you're never leaving are you? Not really. Through memories and through me you'll forever live on. So I guess I don't have to say goodbye. Just, see ya later." His eyes became glassy once more.
He lowered his hand to the paper on his lap before setting it on the grass. "I-in case you don't know who this is...it's your son. Sonic. Just stoppin' by to wish you another Happy Father's Day, Pops."
The blue hedgehog gave the stone before him a gentle kiss prior to laying the sunflower atop the paper, smiling as he did so. He cleared his throat after and fiddled with his ear whilst climbing up. Then swiped his nose with his thumb.
"Heh." He grinned.
With a wink and thumbs up, Sonic the Hedgehog spun around- blasting off with a boom. His last words echoing behind him....
"Sayonara, Dad."
