Branches bounced and smacked into each other as an incredible quick and strong blue gust of wind passed by. The hedgehog that caused such a force wore a determined grin on his muzzle as confident emerald green eyes focused on the small flying vehicle ahead of him.

He easily swerved and dodged the majority of the branches in his path, ones he failed to miss only broke off their tree they grew from, his impact being able to cleanly snap the twigs.

Following closely behind a twin tailed fox spun and dived to avoid as much greenery as possible. Light blue eyes switching between the flying transportation ahead and his brother down below.

"How 'bout we cut to the chase and you hand us those Chaos Emeralds Egghead"? Sonic the Hedgehog called, cupping his hands around his mouth.

"Yeah! It'll save you from the inevitable"! Tails the Fox continued prior to the brothers breaking out into snickers.

"This time I won't loose, you meddling fools"! Eggman countered as they emerged from the forest and out onto a large meadow.

"Oh really? Wanna enlighten us"? The blue blur raised an amused eye ridge, having heard that line before.

Instead of responding verbally the doctor sharply spun his Eggmobile around to reveal the seven Chaos Emeralds each in their own slots across the front of his flying machine. A large grin tracing his face, unknowingly to the two he was currently reaching down for another of his inventions.

"Sooooo what? Your big plan is to show off the Chaos Emeralds we already know you have"? Sonic had come to a stop, crossing his arms in slight confusion.

"Let's be careful Sonic. Eggman could have anything up his sleeve". Tails whispered out of the corner of his mouth.

Though, the blue speedster seemed to not have heard the other. He had squinted his eyes slightly, focusing more on the emeralds right in front of him. They were right there. He could easily snag them and head back to the workshop with Tails. Piece of cake right?

Without a second thought the fastest thing alive charged at the Eggmobile, skimming across the vehicles front to not damage it but close enough that he was able to snatch the red Chaos Emerald.

At that very moment Eggman had swerved his machine, making Sonic slip off and roll across the ground (still holding the emerald) and reveal his other invention. It appeared to be some sort of gun. The mad scientist didn't hesitate to aim it at Tails who was rushing over to his brother to see if the other was alright.

"Gotcha". The doctor grinned darkly prior to shooting his weapon at the fox.

Sonic had to cover his eyes from the blindingly white light that followed, only to see that his brother was no longer there moments after. Eggman too had vanished into thin air.

"You really done goofed this time Eggman". Sonic glared at nothing as he climbed up, taking off as soon as he stood.

He was welcomed with a booming ringing in his ears. Groaning the intelligent fox raised a hand to cover the lights that stung his sky blue eyes. Taking a few moments to focus he slowly sat up to notice he was in some sort of cage. Frowning from this Tails climbed to his feet and began to pace.

"Sonic will be here soon. In the meantime I gotta figure out how to get the emeralds. Sonic had one. Eggman has six attached to his Eggmobile. Hey wait a sec...where is the old fool"? Rushing over to his cell bars the fox gripped two as he glanced down both sides of the corridor.

"Eggman"?! He called, frowning again from receiving nothing but the faint sounds of water droplets.

"Hey Eggface! Ivo! Eggmaaaaaan"!

"What what what"?! A distant frustrated voice yelled, unknowingly receiving a triumphant smirk.

Soon the large doctor appeared on the other side of the cell, Tails took a step back and crossed his arms. The two watched each other before the mad scientist chose to start.

"What is it"? He too, crossed his arms.

"Seeing as I'm stuck in here and Sonic hasn't shown up yet, you wanna give me your evil monologue"?

"And risk that blue rat interrupting? I'll pass".

'Eggman has a large ego, like Sonic, use that to your advantage Tails'. The fox thought to himself.

"Sonic may find them boring whenever you delve into your plans but I find them interesting. It's amazing how you come up with so many". The twin tailed genius had to gulp to keep himself from throwing up.

"You have to when an annoying blue pest constantly ruins them". Eggman frowned.

"Still it's impressive. So many so quickly. Not only are you intelligent but...creative". He coughed.

"You think so? Well I...I am a genius. And I do always have so many ideas".

"Yeeeaaahhhh so um...you fancy telling me your plan this time"?

"I suppose I can yes. You see, to take over Mobius I realised I need an incredible source of power. Where can I get that? From Super Sonic of course. I was going to trap him here originally, force him to transform and drain his power for my robot army. Though you'll do just fine. That blue rat will be here soon and my plan can go ahead swiftly". The doctor had begun to stroke his moustache.

"Didn't you try and use Sonic's energy to break Mobius apart once"? Tails raised an eye ridge as he leaned against the cold stone wall.

"Well yes-".

"And didn't we manage to foil your plan"?

"...yes". Eggman frowned yet again.

"I mean I'm just saying, wouldn't trying something new be more successful? Or use the successful parts of your previous plans to take not only take Sonic down but the entirety of Mobius"? The two tailed inventor scratched his head, seeing this as obvious.

"Do go on". The doctor grinned largely and dangerously.

"Well-".

"I think we've gave Egghead enough hints don't you buddy"? A confident voice called from the end of the corridor, the figure leaning against the wall with crossed arms.

"Sonic"! Tails and Eggman both yelled in unison.

"Howdy, I would've came here sooner but...". He began strolling down the dark hallway.

"I passed by a chilli dog stand and I just couldn't miss the opportunity".

"I hope you saved me one". Tails' namesakes swooshed behind him.

"I did...but I ate it on the way".

"Stop joking around"! Eggman scolded with clenched fists.

"Hand me over the chaos emerald now Sonic or I'll crush your little friend here".

The red chaos emerald was being tossed between the blue blurs hands prior to those words being spoken. He instantly stopped and looked up at his enemy.

"You keep giving me these empty threats Eggface. I find it hard to believe you anymore".

"Then believe this". Eggman spoke lowly before pressing a large green button on his wrist.

From inside the cell Tails almost immediately fell to his knees as he felt like his ribs were cracking apart. Gripping the stone ground as tight as possible he could only keep his screams in for so long. The pain now shooting through his entire body. The cell itself glowed a glorious cobalt blue, a similar tint to Sonic's fur. Lighter blue electricity bolts shot between the bars, filling the small prison with these lightning shocks.

"Okay stop it"! Sonic yelled, clinging onto the bars of the cell, sighing in relief when the agony Tails received came to a stop.

"Now hand me the emerald or I won't be so merciful". Eggman held out a hand.

"Don't do it Sonic. We c-can figure something out". Tails tried to protest, though he immediately hissed in pain after.

"And you'll let him go"? Sonic asked, turning his attention to the doctor.

"Fox for a gem".

With a few more glances between the two the blue blur lowered his head as he begrudgingly handed over the final Chaos Emerald. Despising Eggman's cackle even more.

"Now let him out". He murmured lowly.

"Yes yes I know". The mad scientist rolled his eyes prior to placing his hand on a small device that kept the cell close.

Tails only had time to look up before he was tackled into a hug. Blinking a few times the fox watched Eggman leave them be in advance to returning the squeeze.

"We could've handled it y'know". He sighed.

"I wasn't willing to take that chance pal. You mean a far greater deal to me". Sonic moved back just enough so he could see the others face, still holding onto his brother.

"Let's head on home buddy. We'll figure this out tomorrow".

Upon finally reaching the exit of the base (the brothers being accompanied by Eggman's taunts and remarks), Sonic growled quietly to himself as his patience was slowly withering away.

"I can't believe I actually won! Sonic the Hedgehog lost! For what? To save his friend? Pahahahahaha"! Eggman hunched over as he wheezed.

"Will you shut up already"?! The blue blur snapped, spinning around to face the other.

"My my. Such a sore looser".

"Only because you're rubbing it in my face"!

"Now you know how I feel"!

As the two continued to argue, Tails had noticed the Eggmobile close by. Still with the Chaos Emeralds. The red one being returned to the machine when he and Sonic were trying to figure out on how to open the exit door.

Glancing back at the two squabbling enemies the fox quietly sighed before sneaking over to the machine. With another glimpse the two tailed genius snuck the emeralds into his large namesakes. Whistling as he strolled back to the others with his hands behind his back. He immediately caught Sonic and Eggmans attention.

"Whilst you two were pointlessly arguing I went over to the Eggmobile and took the Chaos Emeralds. So now I think you should scoop me up Sonic and get us out of here". Tails hinted obviously.

"Nice one kiddo! Love to stay and chat Eggman but we better juice. Thanks for the victory"! Sonic laughed as he dashed over to his brother, carried him in his arms and zoomed out of the base in a single motion. The yells and protests of Eggman making the two brothers snicker.
