Hours after the Earth is saved, Gwen is in the forest where the camp is and she's sitting on the tree bark looking up where the Space ARK had exploded while being sad about Shadow's sacrifice. She looks at her wrist to see one of Shadow's inhibitor rings as a memory for her loss second love.

"Shadow..." she cried softly as she held the ring close to her.

"Sis!" Sonic called out.

Gwen heard her brother as he looked around the forest, searching for his sister and she came down with him, landing safely, and surprised him

"Sis, stop scaring me like that!" Sonic yelped.

"Sorry, bro, I was just... thinking." Gwen said, looking down not looking at her brother.

"Gwen, we have been worried about you since Shadow has been gone." Sonic said worriedly, looking at her face.

"I know." Gwen started crying in tears.

Sonic hugged her to comfort her as Gwen hugged him back. After a while, they let go and Sonic leads Gwen back to the camp with their family. Gwen looks up to the sky and keeps thinking about Shadow as if her second love is still there, and hurt so much by the loss.

That night after the race, while the boys are sleeping, Gwen is looking out from the window as she still looks sad, and she's hoping that Shadow is still out there.

"Shadow, I know you're out there... somewhere." Gwen said as she grabbed her ruby necklace tightly close to her as well as looked at her inhibitor ring.

She then yawns, feeling very sleepy. She takes off her jacket, places it on the hook of the wall, gets into bed, covers herself with her blanket, and falls asleep.

Hours later, Gwen's still sleeping but her ruby necklace glows bright as she goes back to the dream, but the vision is different than before as the dream is filled with forests, lakes, and animals. Gwen looked around the dream.

"I'm back in the dream?" Gwen said inquisitive. "I really need to start dreaming something different."

Gwen walks slowly through the grass. As she walks, two doves suddenly emerge from the grass and take to the air, causing her to pull up short. The doves touch beaks.

In a perfect world

A herd of gazelles frolics by.

One we've never known

A gazelle couple bounds away from the herd and then stops to nuzzle.

We would never need

Gwen watches the couple for a moment before turning and striding away.

To face the world alone

She walks into a forested area.

They can have the world

She stops and watches as two butterflies flit over her head. In a nearby tree, a monkey couple nuzzles.

We'll create our own

Gwen then follows the butterflies out of the forest.

I may not be brave or strong or smart

She leaps up onto a tree branch and looks up at the stars, recalling Maria's fascination with the stars.

But somewhere in my secret heart, I know

Gwen looks between the star formation of... Maria and the star formation of two hedgehogs fighting with a hint of dancing.

Love will find a way

She lowers her head sadly.

Anywhere I go

She lies down on the tree branch.

I'm home
If you are there beside me

Gwen looks down at her reflection in a pool. Half of her reflection is missing. A leaf falls into the pool, distorting her reflection.

Like dark turning into day

Closing her eyes, she stands.

Somehow we'll come through

Gwen notices a bush on the far shore moving, as if someone is hiding behind it which makes her eyes lit up with hope.

Now that I've found you

A frog jumps out of the bush and lands in the pool.

Love will find a way

Gwen frowns in disappointment and walks away with her head bowed. She is walking on a hill covered in ash and sits down with her knees covering her face as she wraps herself around. Little did she know, a familiar pair of air shoes was standing on a hill behind Gwen.

I was so afraid

A frown was on their face for a moment before smiling. Gwen sighs silently.

Now I realize
Love is never wrong

They stride down the hill toward Gwen.

And so it never dies

Hearing the footsteps, Gwen's eyes open in shock.

There's a perfect world

She turns around, and her mouth falls open in delight. She smiles affectionately.

Shining in your eyes

There standing before her was Shadow the Hedgehog. He smiles back at her.

And if only they could feel it too

Gwen bounds down her hill toward Shadow. He rushes to meet her.

The happiness I feel with you

Gwen and Shadow meet halfway and embrace.

They'd know

Gwen then kisses Shadow's cheek, then walks off. His eyes widen in shock before he smiles.

Anywhere we go
We're home

Shadow chases after Gwen, who kicks Ash at him. They walk side-by-side up another hill.

If we are there together

Shadow and Gwen then sit.

Like dark turning into day

Shadow uses his hand to scrape away ash on the ground, revealing a green shoot.

Somehow we'll come through

Gwen stares in wonder at the shoot. She smiles at Shadow, who waggles his eyebrows.

Now that I've found you

Shadow and Gwen embrace once again. Around them, a wind carrying milkweed floss stirs the ash into the air.

I know love will find a way

Two butterflies flit around Shadow and Gwen. Shadow watches them in awe.

"Hey..."

The butterflies fly away. Shadow chases after them. Gwen watches him go in confusion. He looks over one shoulder at her, grinning as he laughs. Gwen's confused expression clears. She races after Shadow. Shadow and Gwen chase each other through the grass. Gwen leaps on Shadow, and they roll until he is pinned on his back, Shadow kisses Gwen on her cheek, and Gwen sits up, while Shadow lifts himself up on one elbow. He nuzzles her. Shadow looks into a nearby pool.

"Hey, look."

Shadow's and Gwen's reflections are merged in the water so that the left side is Gwen's face, while the right side is Shadow's.

"We are one."

Gwen then realized something that she'd been thinking about before.

"Shadow, are you just a dream or you're still alive?" Gwen questioned as Shadow looked curious.

"What do you mean?"

"The last time I saw you was you sacrificed yourself to save Earth and..." Gwen explained as she started to cry and hugged him, much to his surprise. "I miss you so much, and... I love you."

Shadow hugged back as he shed a tear, feeling the same for her.

"I miss you too, and... I love you too." Shadow whispered in her ear, making Gwen blush. "Even if I'm not sure longer here, I will always be in your dreams and always be with you."

Gwen cried in happiness knowing Shadow would always be in her heart and always be together. Then Gwen said her confession to Shadow about her feelings.

"Shadow, there's something I need to tell you about." Gwen said

"Yes?" Shadow said.

"I know that I already have a boyfriend and I love Knuckles, but I can't stop thinking of you since you saved everyone and me." Gwen said as Shadow looked curious. "And I can't choose between you and Knuckles or I'll break both of your hearts and it pains me that way."

Gwen's confession is making Gwen sad while Shadow is having thoughts about how to make Gwen happy as he he thought the same to Maria. And Shadow make Gwen face him to dry her tears.

"You don't have to choose one of us, Gwen." Shadow said as he held her hand and Gwen gasped. "You can have two boyfriends, if you really want to."

"But are you sure? I don't want to hurt your or Knuckles' feelings." Gwen asked.

"I'm sure. The one thing I learned is there's plenty of love for both our hearts." Shadow answered.

He gets up and holds out his hand to Gwen as she blushes and grabs his hand for him to help her up. They walk from the forest to the streets by the lake and a makeshift dance floor, made of the wooden planks covered in light bulbs.

They both held hands and began dancing together as Shadow starts singing.

The sun is nearly gone

Shadow continues singing.

Gwen sings after.

What a waste of a lovely night

Shadow then stepped on an effects pedal and lit up the light bulbs on the dance floor. The two continued dancing until Shadow stepped onto a stereo to gain some height, so that the two could share a passionate kiss. Shocked by this gesture, Gwen's pupils turned starry. She then smirked in the kiss and playfully pushed him away, much to his surprise. Gwen then start dancing in a ballerina move. Huffing in amusement, Shadow dance along in his own move. The two come across each other as they dance until Shadow spins her and dips her before throwing Gwen into the air, and she spins mid-air before falling back down into Shadow's arms. Shadow catches her and dips her as they stare into each other's eyes for a moment.

After the dance, the dream started to fade white as they started to wake up just as it did from before and Gwen didn't want it to happen again as she hugged Shadow in tears.

"Shadow, please tell me, are we gonna see each other again?" she pleaded.

Shadow hugged back also in tears.

"Of course, we will. One day as fate decided otherwise."

Gwen was wondering what he meant but the dream ended and she woke up scared. She pants heavily and looks around as she was back in the attic with the boys still sleeping. Gwen looks at her wrist to see one of Shadow's inhibitor rings and gets close to her hoping and she looks up.

"Shadow, I will see you again, one day."

Gwen then goes back to sleep as the inhibitor ring glow bright along with her ruby necklace, showing the sign as Shadow will return one day or other.
