Back in Green Hills, Montana, where Sonic makes a huge sandwich out of several treats.

"Big finish!" Sonic announced.

Knuckles squishes the sandwich down to size with his fists. Gwen drools at the sight of all the sweets mixed together.

"Now that's what I call teamwork." Sonic said with a satisfied smile.

Tails and Gwen turns away to call out.

"Okay, it's ready!" Tails said.

"Let's dig in!" Gwen added.

However, when they turn around only to see Sonic and Knuckles quickly eat up the sandwich. They stopped to see Tails and Gwen looking at them as they're caught red-handed.

"Boys!!!" Gwen scolded them.

Sonic tries to play innocent and points to Knuckles.

"Knuckles, how could you!"

Gwen is not falling for that and points at their mouth that shows evidence.

"How could you?!" she retorted.

"Gotta be faster than that!" Tails continued calling out.

Maddie and Tom step out of the tent. Tom's alive, though his arm is in a cast.

"Give me a break. Still a little slow over here." Tom said.

"Donut Lord!" Sonic called happily.

"Tom!!" Gwen called, relieved to see him okay.

"Ha ha!" Knuckles laughed happily to see him alright.

"Yay!" Tails cheered.

They all hug, though it hurts Tom's arm a bit as he groan in pain from Knuckles' a little too hard hug.

"Okay, Knuckles." Tom said.

"I am having the love." Knuckles said, loving this family.

"I want the love!" Ozzy barked with a hint of whine.

"Get in here, Ozzy." Sonic called over.

"Come here, boy!" Gwen cooed.

Ozzy happily joins in on the group hug.

"It's great to be back together." Tails smiled.

"We're stronger than ever." Knuckles added.

"And nothing's gonna stand in our way." Gwen added, looking around at her whole family.

"Except that one piece of unfinished business." Sonic said with a challenging smile.

Later, Sonic, Gwen, Tails, and Knuckles get into their running position before they race down the woods.

"And way up in front to the surprise of absolutely no one, it's the blue blur. Often imitated but never duplicated. The one, the only..." Sonic announced dramatically.

Suddenly, Knuckles punches through a tree with a battle cry and runs up front.

"Let's do this!" Knuckles said.

Then, Tails flies up with his new jetpack.

"Yeah!" Tails cheered.

Gwen rocket roller skates all around in the walls of a fallen hollow tree trunk before catching up and jumping over Tails and Knuckles, who dug out from the ground, giving them tap on their head and skating ahead of them. Sonic catches up ahead with his sister and his friends.

"Alright, guys, try and keep up!"

The four jump up and speed off into the horizon with a cheer.

Afterwards, Sonic stops in the middle of the woods at night.

"Sonic the Hedgehog is family champion once again!"

He looks around for his sister and his buddies.

"Sis? Tails? Knuckles?"

They aren't there. He then turns around to find a sign reading "WELCOME - NEW YORK STATE PARK - WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE!" He's far from Green Hills, Montana.

"Okay. Yeah, I overshot the finish line."

He hears something and turns to see Gwen has arrived on time, panting a little.

"There you are, bro! You went too far!"

"Sorry..." Sonic said sheepishly.

Suddenly, a flash of lightning zaps behind them without being noticed. From the spot is a metal blue robot resembling Sonic. It's Metal Sonic. Its eyes glow red, and it starts approaching the hedgehogs as he contemplates his situation.

"Okay, so how do we get back?" Sonic questioned with a thoughtful look.

"You have a phone, right? I can call Tails." Gwen suggested, pulling out her IPhone.

The robot powers up his blaster and aims at Sonic. An explosion bursts from within the forest. Back in the forest, the sign is destroyed. However, Sonic appears behind Metal Sonic, his fist surging in blue electricity with Gwen besides him, eyes glowing red.

"Pro-tip: if you're gonna take a shot at the fastest creature in the universe..."

He punches the metal doppelganger back and it skids back before quickly getting up with its head facing the other way.

"...you better not miss."

It then turns its head around to face Sonic and Gwen.

"Another version of you?" Gwen questioned in shock, summoning her ruby sword.

"Um, I'm flattered by the cosplay, but you got a few details wrong." Sonic commented, crossing his arms as Metal Sonic just stare at them. "I can't blame you, though. It's hard to copy perfection." he said before getting into his fighting stance with his sister.

However, several pairs of glowing red eyes appear in the forest. An army of Metal Sonics step out to surround the blue and light blue hedgehogs.

"That's a neat trick." Sonic said.

Gwen readies her sword, glaring at the robots.

The circular depressions on their chests glow and the robots all jump in the air to attack. Before Sonic and Gwen could act, suddenly, a pink blur flies by and hits them. Gwen sees it's a red-and-yellow hammer as it flies up in the air. A hooded figure jumps in to grab it while posing in front of the broken moon. The figure flies down to destroy the last robot as Sonic lands on his rear and watches in shock and awe. Gwen lands safely as she watches in awe.

"What?! Who are you?!" Sonic asked in shock.

The figure removes its hood to reveal... a female pink hedgehog. It's Amy Rose. She smiles confidently at Sonic and Gwen. Gwen was speechless to see another girl hedgehog and then...

"Yes!!!" she cheered, finally happy that she's not the only girl in the group anymore.

Meanwhile, far away was a smoldering crater on the ground. In the crater lies... one of Shadow's inhibitor rings. Then a familiar pair of air shoes steps in and a hand picks it up. Shadow is alive!
