Some time later, Sonic, Y/N, Tails, Knuckles, Tom, Maddie and Ozzie are at Green Hills' baseball field.

"It's truly a beautiful day for baseball here in Green Hills. An exciting lineup today with the debut appearance of two new players! On the mound, rookie sensation from across the galaxy, Miles Tails Prower!" Sonic announced through the mic.

Tails gives them a shy wave.

"Facing off against the powerhouse, Knuckles the Echidna!"

Knuckles looks at the bat he's holding in confusion.

"Um, I don't understand. Why am I angry at the enemy ball?"

"You're not angry. You just want to hit it as hard as you can and then run around the bases."

"But if my quest ends where I am standing, why run at all?"

This made Y/N cover her mouth, trying to hold in her laughter. He's so cute when he's confused and still new to this Earth.

"Ugh, I can't with this guy. Why do I even try?" Sonic face palmed.

"Knuckles, you just swing and have fun, okay?" Y/N said, giggling.

"Yeah, just having some fun." Tom agreed.

"Fun, huh." Knuckles said, nearly forgetting at how much fun he had when he was with Y/N as kids.

Sonic zooms in behind Knuckles in his baseball gear.

"Alright! Give him the heat, Tails!"

"Hope you're ready for my fastball!"

"Your fastball will be dishonored, and so will you, fox." Knuckles said before growling, holding the bat into a position.

"Easy, guys." Maddie warned, calming them down.

"Hey, don't think about it too much. Just keep your elbow up, eye on the ball, and give it a ride." Tom said.

Tails spins the ball and tosses it into the air and catches it with his twin-tails.

"A ride? To where?" Knuckles questioned.

No answer was given as Tails throws the ball hard towards him using his twin-tails. Knuckles eyes the ball for a moment as it comes close.

"Power bump!"

Knuckles hits the ball with a power-bump instead of his bat, sending it flying as Tails ducked from it through the score board.

"Ha! Victory is mine!"

Knuckles jubilantly runs around the baseball field.

"Well, didn't see that one coming!" Y/N laughed.

"Hey! No fair! That shouldn't count!" Tails whined.

"If it makes you feel better, that was a good throw."

"...Thanks, Y/N." he blushed.

"That base is also mine!"

Tom and Maddie eyes at the hole on the score board.

"I think that was our only ball."

"I have conquered the second of the bases!" Knuckles cheered.

"Alright! Who wants ice cream?" Maddie announced.

Sonic, Y/N, and Tails cheered at the sound of that.

"Yeah, ice cream!!"

"Ice cream!! Yum!!"

"Ice cream?! Yeah!"

Knuckles comes back from running around the field.

"Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! I am having the fun! What is ice cream?"

"It's a dessert. If you like fun, you're gonna love it." Sonic explained.

"Oh, yum. Dessert. Does it have grapes in it?"

"No, not usually."

Knuckles a little disappointed in that.

"But don't worry, it's really good. Maybe we might try and make ice cream flavored grapes sometimes." Y/N said, making him smile.

Meanwhile, Tom and Maddie are happy on behalf of Sonic and Y/N.

"I'm proud of those little buds."

"I really like their new friends, especially the red one. He cracks me up."

"He can swing too."

"Not to mention how lucky Y/N is to have that red one as her boyfriend."

"Yeah. They're pretty close. Kinda like Rachel and Randall."

"Come on, fox. Our dessert adventure awaits."

Knuckles carried Tails and placed him on his shoulder.

"Good job, guy." Maddie congratulated.

"Yeah." Tom agreed.

Ozzy comes up to them as Maddie pets him.

"You too, Ozzy! Let's go get some ice cream. Come on, come on."

As they head toward the truck, Tom stays behind with Sonic and Y/N for a moment to watch this scene.

"I'm proud for you, pals. Got your wingmen, your boyfriend if I so say so myself, Y/N."

This made Y/N blush in embarrassment while Sonic looks like he's going to puke.

"Perfect friends to grow up with."

"Come on, Knuckles." Tails encouraged, sitting in the back of the truck.

"Ah, my victory chariot!"

Knuckles jumps in, missing it for a bit and fully goes in the back with Tails.

"We've got a lot more than that..."

Sonic and Y/N looks at each other and smiles at Tom.

"...Dad."

This made Tom smile even more to hear them accepting him as their dad.

"Race you to the truck. 1, 2, 3, go!"

Tom runs first. Sonic and Y/N catches up in speed.

"No, no! Go easy on me! You're much too fast!"

Sonic and Y/N wins the race together as they slide from the top of the truck and land in the back with Knuckles and Tails.

"Sonic, Y/N, I had just been told they had sprinkles." Knuckles said, tapping the truck excitedly.

"Ice cream and sprinkles? This is your new destiny."

"Heck, yeah."

Tom starts the engine and truck starts reversing.

"What a perfect meal to celebrate my victory over you in base of ball."

"What?" Tails questioned in disbelief.

"I mean, you barely beat me." Sonic pointed out.

"Ha! You've never been beaten so hard!"

"Okay, babe! Let's not get too cocky." Y/N giggled.

As the group proceeds to drive away in the truck, they almost leave the Master Emerald behind in the cooler.

"Sonic? Did we forget something?" Y/N asked, remembering something important.

Sonic realizes and comes back for it.

"Oh! Can't forget this."

Sonic grabs the cooler and zooms back to the group.

That night...

Y/N is sitting in the desk of her room, writing a song for herself and her friends to remember all the adventures they have gone through and saving the world from evil like Robotnik. She wonders where he is and gets the feeling they'll see him again. As soon as she was done, she puts out the title "Hero Too". Sighing in satisfaction, she glances around to see Sonic and Tails sleeping together in Sonic's bed while Knuckles is sleeping on the other side of her bed. She smiles at them, feeling her life is complete.

Y/N looks out her window, seeing stars in the sky. She silently prays to God to thank him for bringing in wonderful friends her and her brother deserve.

Opening her eyes after praying, she sees something odd in the night sky. There before her is a falling red star. It then crashes into the forest, creating a big red explosion just up ahead. It was far for the others to hear what was all the ruckus.

"What in the world?"

Concerned, she goes outside from the window as quiet as she could without waking anyone up. Y/N rocket roller skates through the forest, pushing away the tree branches and bushes to follow where the crash have landed.

When the coast is clear, she sees a small meteorite. What she learned from the horror movie is that curiosity killed the cat, but she can't help it. When she gets closer, the meteorite crumbles to pieces to release something shiny in the corner of her eye. Y/N grabs it and examines the mysterious object. With the gentle moon light shining down to reveal a ruby necklace. She couldn't help but feel drawn to it as it whispers to her like a siren is alluring men to their death with their song.

"Beautiful..." she muttered, gazing upon the jewelry.

Without thinking, she puts it on and for a brief moment, the ruby necklace glows and her eyes turns red with electric bolts.

Meanwhile, in a remote research facility, a capsule slips out, inside of which a black hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, awakes. Eyes flashing red as hers as their eyes meet.

"Who is that...?"
