In Sand Ruins

"Now, our race has reached its final stage. The remaining competitors are pacing, anxious for the race to begin. Only a few minutes left. Who will win this big event?"

Confetti is being thrown in the coliseum.

"Sonic! Y/N! Congratulations! I'll be over here, cheering you both on!" Amy exclaimed in excitement.

Sonic and Y/N nods; Amy smiles. Y/N glanced at Jet who's leaning against the wall. He looked back at her with a smirk, making her roll her eyes. Sonic, Y/N, Knuckles, Tails, and Jet all start walking up the coliseum's large staircase.

"And now, it's time for the final event! And it's set here... in Sand Ruins! The rules are still the same; anything goes in this extreme race! Although it needs no further explanation, the first one to reach the goal will win this race!" Eggman said through the television.

Four of the seven Chaos Emeralds are set on an 'altar' at the stair's top.

"But remember, the prize will be won by the racer who's performed the best throughout this competition!"

Sonic and Y/N takes out their Emerald; Jet does the same.

"Hah, you're lucky you got this far. It obviously wasn't due to your, 'skills.'" Jet smirked.

"Heh, I won't lose now." Sonic smirked.

"So am I." Y/N smirked.

They set their Emeralds down.

"Hohoho! Get ready; it's time for the final race to begin!"

"Alright! Bring it on!" Sonic said.

"Let's go, go, go!!" Y/N said.

Once the timer was off, the hedgehog siblings and Jet landed on the their Extreme Gear and began racing. Sonic and Y/N dodged the incoming large pillars that was created from the sand beneath them. They went through the entrance and jumped in the air as they did their own move. Sonic did the stale fish, method, and twister while Y/N did the Alpha Flip and the Sal Flip, surprising Jet who's catching up behind her. They landed perfectly as they kept on going.

They sped through until they are at the edge where there's no bridge and they jumped again. Sonic did the melon, indy, and then jessy and landed. Y/N did the 720 Flip and landed perfectly again. They are now inside the dark temple and speed up their Extreme Gear. They went up the stairs as Sonic went inside the giant crossbow first as he became the bow and the string was pulled back by itself until he was thrown high up back to the Sand Ruins where the people are sitting and watching as he raced through the finish line as it's his second lap. Y/N went next and same thing happened with Sonic as she caught up with her brother. She looked back to see Jet again as he's growing a little frustrated.

They went through the same way as Sonic did the different move after he jumped which is melon and Y/N did another 720 Flip. Y/N went up to the pipes and slide through it, going up and then down, landing in front of her brother, surpising him until he grinned.

"Nice one, sis!"

"Thanks!"

After going through the dark tunnel and being thrown by the giant crossbow again, they are now in their final lap. Sonic spin dashed along the way and Y/N kept on boosting her hoverboard to go faster while doing other more skateboarding tricks. Jet is behind them the whole time as he can't seem to catch up with them. Just then, Y/N did something Jet never expect her to do. She let go one of her foot from her hoverboard and placed her foot on the ground and pushed herself forward just like skateboarding to help her go faster then did another Sal Flip. He started to admire her some more. They are right now coming close to where all the people are in the ruins. Sonic and Y/N are slowly closing in to the finish line with Jet far behind them.

"Noo!" Jet shouted.

As Sonic and Y/N flew past by, Wave was hiding behind the broken wall after she saw them and brought out what supposed to be the button. She pressed it and the device under Sonic's board started blinking red as Sonic and Y/N are now near the finish line just as they are about to win. The device that was under the board exploded, making Sonic fly up and fall to the ground. Y/N gasped to see Sonic down as she was now racing beside Jet.

"You're never gonna win! Even without Sonic!" Jet looked at her.

"We'll see about that!"

Y/N boosted off as Jet did the same as he was beside her again. She boosted one more time and was now ahead of him as she was coming close to the finish line. Just as Y/N was about to win, she saw Jet boosted so fast and was now behind him. Her eyes widen as he flew past her through the finish line, making him first as she went second. She stopped her hoverboard and clenched her fist in frustration.

"Darn!!"

"Who's the chicken now, huh? Kitty?" he smirked.

"You cheated! You and your crew placed the bomb under my brother's board!" Y/N pointed accusingly at him.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I'd never cheat."

Jet flew over to Sonic who's on the ground and got off of his board. Y/N flew over to Sonic, got off of her board, and helped him up.

"You okay, Sonic?"

Sonic nodded. Jet looked down at him, smugly smirking.

"Ah, the dirt suits you so well!"

Sonic and Y/N glared at him with their teeth clenched. Jet went back on his hoverboard and flew up to the stairs' top where there's seven Chaos Emeralds on it. Sonic hits the ground in frustration.

"I'm sorry I didn't win, Sonic. I was so close..." Y/N looked down.

"Hey, it's okay, sis." Sonic got up and patted her arm. "You did your best."

Y/N sighs and looks up as Jet raised up his control box. All seven Chaos Emeralds began glowing along with the control box as the emeralds started floating and spun circles around him. Each of the Chaos Emeralds shoots a small beam of light into the control box, which ignite a glowing sphere inside it. Said sphere fires a beam of light like the Emeralds, but aiming it out at the desert. In the distance, mountains of dirt are thrown out as a loud rumbling starts. A floating ruin - Babylon Garden - raises out of the sand and into the sky.

"Woah!!" Y/N exclaimed in shock and awe.

"This... this is... Babylon Garden..." Jet gasped out in awe.

A crane outreaches and grabs the control box out of Jet's hand, with an added (comedic) 'popping' sound. Jet, dazed by the sight of Babylon Garden, doesn't notice the crane, but only flexes his hand slightly with the feel of the box missing; by the time Eggman speaks, Jet notices the box is gone.

"Hohohohoho! Now I'll get the Treasure of Babylon!" Eggman laughed.

"Oh, no!"

Amy runs up to Eggman, and grabs onto the machine he's using to fly. Ignoring Amy, Eggman takes off for Babylon Garden.

"Amy!" Y/N shouted.

"Eggman!" Jet shouted.

"Tails! Knuckles! We gotta get Eggman!" Sonic said.

"Don't forget, Amy! She's being taken too!" Y/N reminded him as they all ran after Eggman.

Sonic, Y/N, Tails, and Knuckles are in the Tornado, next to Jet's airship. Eggman cruises by on his E-Rider down below, on Babylon Garden.

"We found you!"

Sonic and Y/N prepares to jump off the Tornado, but Tails stops them.

"Wait, Sonic, Y/N, use this!"

Tails tosses Sonic the Blue Star II and Y/N the (F/C) Crystal II.

"What is it?" Sonic asked.

"Is this..."

"It's a new Gear I prepped up, just in case something like this happened. I even did the same for you, Y/N. To help you get faster when you tried to beat Jet."

"Thinking ahead Tails? Thanks!"

"Wow! Thanks, Tails! Your invention won't go to waste!" Y/N smiles.

Tails blushed. "No problem, Y/N."

Sonic and Y/N dive off the Tornado; Jet meets them in the air.

"Jet..."

"Jet!"

The trio land on the Garden.

"You two can't catch up with him! Get outta my way!" Jet said.

"Is that what you think? Take a look at this!" Sonic said.

"We'll show you what true speed really is!" Y/N said.

Sonic and Y/N together cross the finish line first, with Jet just a bit behind. Sonic and Y/N stops and turns around, right as Jet loses balance and gets sent spiraling through the air.

"Even without wings, me and my sis can still fly! Right?"

Jet hits the ground in frustration. Sonic then went off to find Eggman except for Y/N who's looking over at Jet. He may have been a jerk, but he doesn't deserve this kind of treatment and the way he's on the ground like Sonic was. She flew over to Jet, giving him the hand. He looked up at her in surprise and hesitantly took it and she helped him get back on his feet and gave him his hoverboard.

"You may have lost, but that doesn't mean you're a sore loser. You did good. Good game, Jet."

With that she went off to catch up to her brother, leaving him in thought. He then followed her after. Elsewhere in Babylon Garden, Eggman is in front of a huge door covered with markings.

"Where are you, Eggman?!"

Sonic gets off his board; but as he walks closer to Eggman, the doctor reaches into a bush and pulls out Amy.

"Haha! Look before you move!"

"Darn!"

Y/N and Jet comes into view.

"Hohohoho! Now then... just be a good hedgehog and stay still."

Eggman smirks. He starts to raise Jet's control box up to the door, but--

"Now!!"

Sonic charges up the thrusters on his board, taking off into the air, leaving a whirlwind in his wake. Eggman shields his eyes.

"Can you catch the wind?"

As Eggman opens his eyes, he sees that Sonic's gone.

"What?! Where are you?!"

"I'm here!"

Sonic crashes straight down from above, sending Eggman and Amy into another tornado. Sonic catches the control box as it flies from Eggman's grip. Y/N flew over and caught Amy in time before she fell to the ground.

"You okay, Amy?"

"Yeah."

Y/N brought her down safely and looked over her brother.

"Hey, catch!"

Sonic tosses it to Jet; he catches it.

"Wh-what?!"

Sonic lands in front of Jet; Tails and Knuckles stand next to Sonic.

"Hmph! I lost. So don't play games with me. I don't want your pity, nor do I need it!"

Jet hands the control box out to Sonic.

"Wha-? Are you crazy?"

Wave and Storm walk in.

"If they don't want it, then let's take it. Treasure is treasure."

Jet looks down.

"Come on, let's get out of here!"

Jet glances at Y/N as she gave him a smile. He started walking past her, giving her back a quick smile with a small blush on his cheek and followed after Wave and Storm.

"Ah, I think it's time to leave now. Tails?" Sonic said.

"Yeah."

Sonic, Tails and Knuckles turn to leave. Y/N didn't though as she was about to tell them that they're missing someone until she heard a scream that made her wince.

"So-NIIIC?!"

Sonic looks more than a bit scared.

"Amy...?"

Amy's looking at the ground.

"How could you dive into Eggman knowing I was there!? I would have fallen off if it weren't for your sister saving my life!"

Sonic slowly turned back to face her.

"Well, Amy... I thought... it'd be... okay... with you, and, uh..."

Amy looks up, glaring at Sonic. She starts chasing him with her hammer.

"Sonic!! Come back HERE! AHHH!! Sonic! I won't forgive you this time!"

Amy chases Sonic back to Y/N, Tails, and Knuckles, who they then proceed to run around in circles. Y/N shook her head in dismay, knowing Sonic had that coming. Knuckles face palmed.
