A portal opens in the cloud and Gwen falls through it.

"Here we go again! Where to now?!"

She tumbles through a blue sky as she passes through the clouds and sees a big blue area, which she recognizes it.

"Great! Water!"

Gwen makes a diving position and takes a deep breath as she lands into the water with a big splash. She swims up to the surface with a gasp and looks around.

"Sonic? Sonic? Where did my brother go now? I know he hates water, but he can't drown now right after I came."

Suddenly, she heard a scream and turns to see an island nearby with Sonic in it and he's being chased by three familiar people she knows well.

"Seriously? Again?" she sighed, rolling her eyes. "I'm coming, brother."

Gwen starts swimming towards the island when she suddenly finds herself floating. She looks down and notices a change of her clothes changes to a pirate outfit and her boots somehow makes a wave as if she's surfing. Smiling, she starts moving towards the island with the help of the wave. She does a few flips and moves before landing on the sand of the island as the waves died down as soon as her boots hits the land. Gwen sees Sonic by the edge with the bat, the pink hedgehog, and the fox surrounding him.

"Boy, it sure feels good to a pirate, don't it?"

"Oi!"

"Leave him to the brisket!"

Sonic gasps in horror. Gwen moves her hand to grab her weapon when she notices the water makes a move. Confused, she moves her hand again and it moves as well. Getting the idea, Gwen quickly jumps up to the palm tree till she's on top and jumps and lands in front of Sonic, surprising the three. Gwen turns around and strikes down the three pirates with her waterbending, then hits them with her water whip while taking away their swords. The bat, the pink hedgehog, and the fox falls to the ground as Gwen and Sonic jumps down in front of them. Gwen holds both her arms out, bringing out the stream of water. The three looks at her power in shock. After a few moments, she sends a forceful steam of water at them, transforming the stream into a flurry of ice daggers midway through her attack. The three flinches and closes their eyes, preparing to be hit. When they didn't feel harmed, they look up to see the ice daggers floating in midair.

"Why are you attacking my brother?" Gwen demanded, glaring at them.

The three gasps at seeing her and points.

"You're Emeraldas!"

"What?"

Gwen's expression softens and she allows for the daggers to liquefy and drop to the ground. The three gets up and surrounds her.

"Can it be her?"

"It can't be."

"Our captain will never believe what we found."

"Uh, what's going on?" Sonic asked.

The three looks at Sonic then to Gwen.

"You know, he's too fast to be part of the old crew. And now we found the one that captain's been missing." the fox said.

"Listen, I am not a part of any crew you're looking for. In fact, me and sis lost our crew. It's a bit of a sore spot actually."

"I'll give you a sore spot, alright?" the bat threatened, pointing her sword at him.

Gwen quickly acts by disarming the bat with her own sword as the bat's sword went flying in the air. The three were surprised at her move as Gwen swings her sword, which also changes to the similar sword the pirates wield.

"Did I mention I also studied fencing?"

She catches the bat's sword and hands it to her.

"You're definitely the Emeraldas." the bat said in awe.

"I don't know what you're talking about, but if it's someone you know, you got the wrong girl."

"But you look exactly like her from the picture our captain showed us. It never lies." the fox insisted.

Gwen looks conflicted and worried now, thinking it's another one of her version that died.

"I..."

"Alright, alright. Enough's enough. Gather the coconuts. The captain would want us to get back to the ship without taking too long." the pink hedgehog said, walking away and grabbing Gwen's hand. "Leave this scalawag for the buzzards. Emeraldas, you're coming with us. The captain will be pleased to see you."

"Uh... okay..." Gwen said in confusion.

"Well, it was fun while it lasted." the bat said before flying away along with the fox.

"Wait, you're leaving? Without me?" Sonic asked.

The bat flies up to the palm tree and cuts down the coconut.

"Uh, you can't leave me here. How come sis gets a better treatment than me?"

Gwen shrugs with a small smirk.

"There's literally water everywhere."

Sonic runs over to see them by the boat.

"Uh, where're you going? Somewhere with a lot of land, hopefully."

"Back to our ship. And we don't take scalawags. Well, except her." the bat said, gesturing to Gwen.

"But he's my brother. He needs me. I need him." Gwen pleaded, not wanting to leave him behind.

"You know, with all that speed, this land lover could be useful." the fox said, seeing how much Gwen cares for Sonic and flying over to Sonic. "Swabbing the deck, raising the mizzen mast, rowing the boat."

The bat sighs in frustration.

"I hate rowing the boat."

The pink hedgehog nods in agreement. Sonic immediately raises his hand.

"I'll row! I'm a great rower!"

"He's not wrong." Gwen agreed.

Sonic elbows the fox on the shoulder.

"I'll bet you 20 coconuts I'm the best rowers you've ever seen!"

"Fine! I, too, hate the rowing." the pink hedgehog sighed in defeat. "But, there is one condition when we get back to the ship. It's Captain's orders or else!"

"Or else? The plank?" Sonic asked, leaning against the boat.

The starts to float away when he quickly grabs it back to the land, making Gwen facepalm herself.

"I can assure you that this hedgehog has no interest in planks. Captain's orders. Got it! I love captains."

Sonic makes a heart shape with his hands and blinks, making Gwen and the pink hedgehog looks at him funny. Sonic and Gwen then notices a red, gold, and green tall ship with red and white sails in the distance of the ocean.

"Whoa! Is that your ship?"

"It looks amazing."

"'Tis indeed."

The bat slams an oar into Sonic.

"Now, move along! You need to hurry to get a good seat."

With an oar, Sonic vaults into the boat as Gwen, the bat, the pink hedgehog, and the fox goes in afterwards.

"Everybody got seat belts on?"

Gwen smirked, knowing what's going to happen and held on tight. The three pirates looks at him in confusion.

"Seat belts?" the fox asked.

Then Sonic starts rowing the boat in speed like a motor, causing the three pirates to scream while Gwen cheers. The boat then makes it to the ship without a problem. The bat, the pink hedgehog, and the fox looks scared for life with their fur or quills sticking out funny from the speed.

"Well, that was quick." the bat commented.

Sonic and Gwen smirks in amusement. Wenches pull the boat up to the deck. The pirate, Sonic, and Gwen board into the ship. A sleeping cat and frog fall off the hammock. A coconut with a straw rolls to Sonic's feet. Sonic and Gwen makes disgusted look.

"Urgh. Looks like someone had a few too many coconuts last night."

Sonic and Gwen goes down the stairs to the pirates.

"You guys should really consider cleaning that poop deck."

"Where's that captain you speak of?" Gwen asked.

"Argh!"

Everyone looks up to see a shadow figure on top of the sails

"Who'd be the scalawag you brought on board?"

"Sonic, Emeraldas, meet Dread." the pink hedgehog introduced.

"The Dread." the bat added with a grin.

Dread swings down behind the sails to the deck. The red echidna wears a tricorn hat. He gives them a grin, showing a golden tooth.

"The Dread is... Knuckles?" Sonic said in shock.

"...Whoa." Gwen blushed at the sight of Dread.

In the video game, Sonic collects rings on the platform and gets more as he jumps down. Something bursts through the floor, making Sonic fall to the ground. It revealed Knuckles landing on the Master Emerald.

"I'm Knuckles, the guardian of this island. Consider this your first and final warning."

Knuckles jumps down and punches Sonic, which he jumps back before he could hit as he makes a crack on the ground.

"Does that count as a warning?"

Knuckles chases him and punches the rocks Sonic was on, who jumps away and lands another.

"Allow me to offer my delicate and restrain response."

After Knuckles punches the last rock, Sonic rolls himself into a ball and spins through the hole and towards Knuckles.

"Spin Dash!"

But he blocks Sonic with his boxing gloves, skidding to a stop and kicks him back. Sonic looks surprised.

"You blocked that?"

Knuckles laughs and leaps back and punches blocks at him. Sonic dodges them.

"Okay. Time out! Let's start over. Hi, I'm Sonic, and-"

"Don't waste your breath, thief. Eggman warned me about you. I know all I need to know."

Knuckles begins to throw more attacks when Gwen comes in view to see this fight and joins in and destroys the blocks while dodging them. Once they're all gone, Gwen charges at Knuckles and manages to defeat him through an acrobatic display, utilizing chi-blocking while dodging his punches. He lies there on the ground, looking paralyzed.

"Urgh!"

"Stop this, right now. We're not the enemy or thief. Whatever Eggman told you was a lie. He's the one you should be worried about."

Knuckles slowly gets up, rubbing his arms, looking angry.

"What are you talking about? Don't lie! He told me that uh-"

He glances at Gwen, while she is throwing her quills back.

"Uh, I was... I- I... wow."

Knuckles coughs awkwardly.

"I was..."

He clears his throat and blushes.

Aboard the ship, the fox could be seen picking his teeth with his sword as Sonic gives a thoughtful look before shrugging.

"Yeah, does makes sense."

"Emeraldas...?"

Sonic turns and starts to get confused and worried to see Dread was now face-to-face to Gwen upclose, very close. Dread gently cups her face.

"Could it be really you...?" he whispered out.

"Um... kinda. But I'm really not-"

This is not what Gwen expected or how anyone expected, but it just happened. From the moment she spoke, Dread is kissing Gwen on the lips!! First, Rebel and Knucks, now this?! She really didn't see that one coming either! She's not the only one as Sonic literally screamed at seeing his sister being kissed while the fox, the pink hedgehog, and the fox cooed or oohed at the sight with their cheeks pink. Paying them no mind, Dread pulls himself away from her whose face is pink and places a gloved thumb against her lips with a smile, blushing.

"Was that not enough?"

"Th-That's not..."

"Okay, just a little more..."

He presses her lips against his again, but this time more passionate and Gwen could feel that they're making out. Her surprised scream was muffled. Dread pulls her close by wrapping his arm around her waist while holding the back of her head to deepen the kiss as their lips moved. Gwen doesn't know what to do as she muffled through the kiss still.

Sonic's expression darkens as they cover up his eyes. His body is shaking and his fists are clenched tightly as he looks ready to explode or break something down.

Eventually, Dread pulls his lips away from hers as a string of saliva could be seen for a second before it disappeared. He licks his lips with a smile and cups her cheek, making her gasp a little.

"I've missed you so much, Emeraldas. You're looking quite the eye-catching as usual."

"Uh, um... um..."

In speed, Sonic grabs the fox's sword and points it at Dread, who's still holding Gwen close. The bat and the pink hedgehog points their sword at Sonic.

"WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING TO MY SISTER?!!"

Dread looks at him funny as if stating the obvious. Poor Gwen looks so speechless to do anything or say anything about this situation she's in. Sonic smells something and gets alarmed.

"Fire? Fire!"

He sees a fireplace as coconuts are being cooked over the fire.

"Wait."

The frog could be seen hopping next to the fire. Sonic sniffs again.

"Dinner?"

The cat puts the coconut on the crate. With a sword, he chops it in half.

"Dinner!" Sonic gasped, looking hungry.

With Gwen in Dread's grasp, he holds out an apple.

"I will trade you that sword of yours for this nice, shiny apple."

Sonic stares at him.

"So you can stuff it in my mouth? No, thanks. You do know hedgehog quills are a choking hazard, don't you?"

Dread and others, except Gwen laughs at Sonic.

"Don't you worry. The fire isn't to cook you."

Dread releases Gwen, much to her relief, and walks up the stairs.

"It's to welcome you!"

The cat brings out a cannon, making Sonic and Gwen gasp. Gwen gets ready to use her waterbending as she expects it to release a fire when it shoots out... confettis? The pirates cheers. The frog beats on the drum and the cat plays a lute. Colorful balloons float. Colored lights wrapped around the mast. Sonic and Gwen were confused at this decoration.

"Definitely not the Knuckles I know." he said.

"Yep. Definitely not." she agreed.

"Besides, have you seen yer legs? I've seen more meat on a starfish." Dread commented, making Gwen snicker.

Sonic looks very offended by that, but quickly softened when he looks around the ship again.

"Wait. This really is a party?"

"Sure is! But we don't cross new adventurers that often. Nor expect someone to come back to life."

This made Gwen almost forget about the whole 'Emeraldas' person and gets uncomfortable.

"You're officially my favorite Knuckles ever."

Sonic then gasps to see something he surely missed. He sees the hotdog covered with green stuff. He somehow teleports in front of the food and gazes at it. Gwen sees that and chuckles, shaking her head.

"Is this a chili dog?"

"More like a sea dog." Dread informed.

"A sea dog?" Sonic and Gwen questioned in unison.

"What's exactly made of?" Gwen asked.

Dread laughs for a second before looking serious.

"Don't ask."

Sonic shrugs with a hum and eats the sea dog. His expression changes to a bliss and wipes out a tear.

"Oh, you have no idea how much I needed that!"

"Of course, you'd like it." Gwen smiled, taking a coconut offered by Dread.

"Well, ye've come to the right place. We're all about 'no ideas' here." the bat said with an unamused expression.

Sonic slurps up the plate and the cat serves out a pack of sea dogs. He lets out a high pitched gasp and Gwen thought he lost his voice for a second. He cracks his fingers, ready to dig in.

"So, 'Dread the Dread', first I wasn't sure, but it turns out you're not the scourgiest in the slightest."

Dread laughs wholeheartedly.

"Well, that depends on who you ask. Black Rose, am I the toughest pirate on the seas?"

Black Rose salutes with a smile.

"Aye, Captain!"

"If you're such a friendly pirate, how'd you get a name 'The Dread'?" Gwen asked, slurping her coconut.

"Oh, he wasn't always so friendly! He used to be the..."

The bat was cut off by Dread punching the table hard, shaking it. This surprised the bat and Gwen at his sudden action as Dread glares at her.

"That's a story for another time, Batten."

Dread turns to Gwen.

"A better question would be 'How did you survive from the incident with no boat, Emeraldas?' I thought you're gone for good."

Gwen looks at Sonic, who frowns.

"Um... I don't know how to tell you, but I don't know what you're on about me surviving... I'm not Emeraldas. I'm Gwen. From another dimension."

Dread looks surprised and laughs.

"What are ye talking about? You're not Gwen, you're Emeraldas. Where did you get that kind of name?"

"But I'm not. I'm telling the truth. I may look and sound like her, but I'm actually not the person you know and love."

Dread looks confused, convinced it is her.

"Are ye okay, Emeraldas? You're having amnesia? I don't like that. You're right here."

"I..."

Gwen sighs, feeling this is hard to tell him. Sonic sees that and chimes in.

"Um, Dread, I'm sorry, but she's telling the truth. Let me explain everything. Hang on to your hat because I have got a doozy."

He then begins to explain about him shattering the Paradox Prism with Gwen following him, New Yoke, Boscage Maze, and then now while explaining about the other Gwens that died in every dimension they travel.

"And then we ended up here."

Sonic then sighs after all that talking. Gwen notices it's now dawn and looks surprised at how long Sonic has been explaining. She notices the silence and looks at Dread, who looks shocked before looking down with a blank expression. His gloved fists could be seen clenched as if trying to bear the pain. Gwen could tell that he's sad and frustrated to realize that Gwen is not Emeraldas and that the real Emeraldas is truly gone. Suddenly, he shakes it off and smiles, wrapping an arm around Sonic's shoulder.

"Sounds like you two need a vacation!"

Gwen, Batten, and Rose look at each other. Sonic smiles awkwardly.

"Sounds really tempting, but me and sis really gotta get-"

Dread punches the table, sending the plate flying.

"No buts! Especially not during a limbo contest!"

Dread claps and the cat and the frog plays the music. Sonic and Gwen watches as Dread runs to Batten and Rose, who hold a limbo stick, and he limbos under it. Sonic and Gwen looks around as the ship rests on still water.

"But, seeing as we're not going anywhere. Hold on to your eye patches, mateys! 'Cause I'm about to show you how low this hedgehog can go! You joining too?"

Gwen hesitates and shakes her head.

"You go have fun. I'm just... gonna drink some coconuts or whatever."

Sonic shrugs and joins the party. Gwen sighs and walks away, not in the mood to have fun as she takes a coconut and sits near the edge of the ship, dangling her feet above the water. There's so many questions she wonders. Like why every versions of herself keep dying in every dimensions they go? She's worried that she might be next. Gwen had died once and came back to life by Cosmo's ruby she holds dearly, but this is different. She stares at the reflection of herself and sighs.

"What am I going to do? How am I and Sonic ever gonna get back home where there won't be any deaths, betrayals, wars, and more??"

She takes a sip of her coconut and watches her friends party. She smiles to see them happy and having fun, making her wish this moment will last and that everything is all a dream where she can wake up back in the Green Hills where everything is normal. Sadly, it's all real even if she pinches herself. Gwen didn't realize they've been partying all the way until the full moon glows in the night sky.

Meanwhile after singing and partying with Sonic, who's sleeping, Dread was looking at the emerald ring he held so dearly. He glances over to see Gwen staring blankly at the ocean below her with a sigh. He frowns, sensing something's wrong with her. She may not be the Emeraldas he knows and loves, but that doesn't stop him from caring for her. Dread looks around to see almost half of his crews are asleep like Batten and Rose. He then spots the cat, the frog, and the fox. He smiles, getting the idea. Dread speeds over to them and whispers something to them, which surprised them, but they did what they're told. As soon as Gwen walks back into the deck where the party holds as she was about to go grab another coconut, a tango song was heard as the cat plays the guitar with the frog beating the drums and the fox making a sound of the clink. Dread was seen leaning against the mast casually as he stares at Gwen, who stops and looks surprised at the sudden change of music. She even notices the lanterns that looks like a candlelight.

"What's this?"

Dread holds out a hand.

"Care for a dance?"

Gwen stares at his hand for a moment and takes it. Dread pulls her against him, making her blush a little. He wraps a cloth behind her as the two starts slow dancing.

"Never knew you can tango."

"I'm full of surprises."

"Forgive me for asking, but how did you and Emeraldas meet?"

Dread chuckles fondly.

"Oh, it was the bestest thing that's ever happened to me. I remember it well. Winding, twisting, turn, try raising writhing. Incessant driving. Well, before I was captain, she came into my ship and tried to kill me and rob me. I managed to fight back and take her down, but she stole something from me."

"And what's that?"

Dread closes in between them as their lips are inches apart.

"She stole me heart." he whispered out.

The cat plays his guitar louder to make the song more interesting as the fox clicks on.

"Since then, she became me first mate. We traveled together, steal treasures together, and so on. Together, we were unstoppable. Oh, the good old days."

Gwen smiles to see how happy Dread looks as they dance.

"She must be the amazing woman you've ever met."

"Oh, yes. The finest one of all."

With the cloth, he twists her around and she saves herself against the mast as Dread jumps and swings on the rope. Gwen looks around for any sight of him until Dread lands just behind her and taps her shoulder. She turns only to see him not here, but he was on the other side of her as he stands in front of her. Gwen turns back around and flinches in surprise.

"May I cut in? I have something you might find an interest."

Gwen wraps her arm around his neck. In a swift move, he dips her down. Dread pulls out an emerald ring from his dreadlocks and holds it out to her.

"The first item I stole for someone else."

Gwen stares in amazement.

"That's the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. It must be ancient or something."

He turns her around and wraps an arm around her neck with her back against his chest. Dread leans against her ear.

"Not as beautiful as you."

He spins her and places her against the floor of the deck, holding her hand. Gwen was surprised and embarrassed at his sudden action and finds it very romantic. Dread leans down and places a ring around her middle finger.

"My dearest Gwen. You and I are sticky stains, love."

Blushing bright red, she decides to make a move and pushes Dread away and stands up and stands close to his face with her hand against his chest.

"Bold move of you, Dread."

He smirks and spins her around him. Gwen chuckles as she spreads her arms out and moves her hips, dancing as Dread holds her waist and moves to the other side to face her.

"Impressive."

She turns as Dread holds her hand and spins her towards him as he holds her leg. Gwen had her hand on her hips while the other holds the back of his neck.

"Thanks."

Gwen turns and bumps him away with her butt before turning back with her arm up and the other in front of her chest in a dancing pose as Dread comes back to her.

"You're more interesting than I thought just like Emeraldas."

"You don't know me, Dread. I'm not who you think I am. I'm just Gwen."

"I know."

He dips her down for a second and spins her before tossing her up in the air. Gwen laughs at this as Dread catches her and the two dances as their boots clanked in rhythm. He then grabs her, spins her, and dips her again as the song ends.

"But that doesn't stop me from loving you."

Gwen smiles and pulls herself away from him.

"Thanks for the dance. That was... fun."

"Glad to you enjoyed it. You must be pretty tired, aren't ya?"

"Yeah, I pretty am." she said with a yawn.

Before she knew it, Dread had carried her under the deck where it holds his office room area and a bedroom as he lays her down and covers her with a blanket. He bids her goodnight with a kiss on her head before walking away. Gwen smiles and falls asleep, cuddling into the pillow.

Gwen twists and turns in her bed as she appears to be having a dream. White flashes to Green Hills of her home until it shatters away to reveal the Paradox Prism that Sonic had broken. Then it shows herself floating in midair, her body glowing white along with her eyes. Gwen creates a massive gust of air. Pillars of earth disintegrate and move toward Gwen as other pieces of rock rise up to surround her. Water also rises toward Gwen as she creates a ring of fire around herself. The earth begins to create a ring inside the air sphere as the water continues to rise up and form another ring inside the earth sphere. Gwen is surrounded by a ring of water, a ring of earth, a sphere of air and a ring of fire.

All of the sudden, a familiar black and red gloves with golden limiters grabs her face and Gwen sees Shadow the Hedgehog as he appears to be worried.

"Gwen, you have to wake up."

Gwen looks confused, getting her out of her power state she was in.

"Huh?"

"WAKE UP!!"

Gasping, Gwen instantly sits up. She looks around the room, panting heavily. Gwen then sighs, placing a hand on her head.

"It was just... a dream? What was that? And why's Shadow...?"

She sighs, thinking she's just imagining and needs some water. Gwen walks out of the room to the deck as she sees that it's still night time and everyone else on board are sleeping still. Gwen quietly sneaks her way to go get some water as she walks up the stairs when she heard a soft tone from the steering wheel of the ship. She goes to see what was making that lovely music. She goes to the other side and walks up the stairs to see Dread. She was surprised that he's still awake and he's not wearing a pirate hat. Gwen notices that he's holding a music box that's making that song. She listens closely, finding herself lost in the music.

As soon as the music box stopped playing, Dread stares at it with a sad expression for a moment as if remembering things that were good while it lasted. He closes his eyes briefly as a single tear drops onto the box. Gwen frowns at seeing him sad and approaches him.

"Dread?"

He freezes and glances at her.

"What's wrong?"

Dread looks back down at the box and shrugs it off as if it was nothing.

"...Is it about Emeraldas?"

He froze for a second before sighing and nodding. Gwen sighs, knowing this would happen.

"Did something happened to her?"

"...."

"You don't have to tell me if you're uncomfortable. You can tell me when you're ready."

Dread stares at her before smiling, appreciated.

"You know, she would want you to be happy and move on."

"But how? She means everything to me. Nothing, not even treasures can make me happy. She's gone..."

"No, but these memories are."

She places a hand on his chest where his heart is.

"And they live inside you as well, which means their magic does, too."

He stares at her in surprise. Gwen takes his hands.

"You just have to remember all the good in these moments because you're a part of them. Feel them and they'll do the rest."

Gwen guides him downstairs as they reach the deck and near the edge of the ship, which worried him. She gives him a smile and jumps out of the ship and into the water. Dread rushes over, only to find her standing on the water as her boots did the trick. She turns to him and gives him a closed eye smile, holding out a hand. Pink bubbles floats from the water as they float around her. Dread hesitate for a moment and grasp his hand around hers as she guides him down onto the water. His feet surprisingly just touched the water without him sinking. He stares at her in amazement.
