In No Place, lightning flashes near the Devil's Lighthouse. On the Chaos Council submarine, Batten looks through a telescope and spots Dread and Gwen falling from the mountain with the blue Shard. Sonic runs to them and disappears. Gwen and Dread were seen talking before he kissed her and she too disappeared, leaving the Shard half blue.

"What just happened?" Batten asked with concern, looking at Black Rose.

Dread stares in shock and picks up a half glowing Shard, staring to where Gwen had gone.

"Be safe, Gwen..." he said, stroking it.

The skies clear and Dread jumps away from the mountain. He leaps from rock to rock where the submarine sits besides his ship, the Angel's Voyage. Dread lands on a submarine and grins at the Shard in his hand. Rusty Rose stands tied to a pole and she looks at Dread, scanning him.

"The shard." Rusty said, eyes wide.

"You alright, Capt'n?" Batten asked.

"Aye, Batten." Dread said.

"What happened to Sonic and Gwen, Captain?" Sails asked.

"He poofed! Along with Gwen! And in the blue flash, they are gone. But they'll come back." Dread said, looking at the Shard.

"The Devil's Lighthouse!" Black Rose exclaimed with excitement, seeing the Shard.

"Aye! And with this, we will reclaim the No Place Seas." Dread declared with a grin.

"Huzzah!!" Batten and Black Rose cheered, bringing up their fist.

"This craft is the property of The Chaos Council." Rusty stated.

"Shut your metal gob!" Black Rose ordered, pointing at her.

"I will not!" Rusty shook her head with a glare. "I was programmed by The Chaos Council with the mission to retrieve that shard."

"And ya failed!" Black Rose pointed out.

"The council will return. You would do best to surrender to me now." Rusty ordered.

Dread and his crew laughs.

"If this Chaos Council wants to take this ship back, they're more than welcome to try." Dread said, running up and leaping next to Black Rose and Batten. "You're a heck of a scrapper, Rusty. Ye'll make a fine pirate."

"I am loyal to the Chaos Council." Rusty glared.

"Then prisoner it is." Dread grinned before turning to his crew. "Alright, crew, let's get this metal boat ship-shape and ready to sail!"

His crew cheers.

"What about the Angel's Voyage, Captain?" Black Rose asked.

"A good captain goes down with their ship, but a great captain steals someone else's. Ha! What be her name?" Dread asked Rusty.

"The Kraken." she replied.

"Aye, a fitting name."

The Kraken starts moving as they sail out of the Devil's Lighthouse, leaving the Angel's Voyage behind.

"🎵Oh! Who'd be the scourge of The Great No Place Sea?" Dread sang.

"🎵Dread! It be Dread!" his crew sang along.

A tiny island stands under the blue sky. Sonic and Gwen falls through a portal. Sonic screams while Gwen calmly looks down, ready to dive.

"Not again!" he yelled.

Sonic lands just off the island beach on his face while Gwen dives into a water without a problem and resurfaces. She swims toward the island as Sonic gets up with a gasp and coughs.

"Oh, I really thought I had it this time."

"Try not to land on your face again." Gwen grinned, making him glare at her.

"Okay, how do we find a band of pirates in the middle of a massive ocean world?" he wondered.

"Let's get to high ground." Gwen suggested, jumping up to the platform and climbs on top of a palm tree.

Sonic follows and searches. They see familiar sharp rocks ahead where a big mountain is in the middle.

"There! The Devil's Lighthouse!" Gwen said.

They jump down and Sonic runs across the water with his boots while Gwen surfs across the water with her boots.

Meanwhile, on the Kraken, Rusty had her eyes closed when her right robot eye starts blinking red and she wakes up.

"Black Rose, set a course for me long awaiting destiny." Dread said.

"Aye, aye, Capt'n!" Black Rose saluted.

Sails flies up to them.

"All finished with the banners, Dread." he said.

Dread looks to see the Kraken covered with his pirate banners and smirks.

"Fine job, lad!" he complimented.

"And the cannon's been locked and loaded!" Sails said, gesturing to the blaster.

"Good! Let's go get our pirate on."

Dread sees something ahead and pulls out his telescope.

"Huh?"

The Yolkomotive approaches and hovers.

"Filthy Pirates!" Deep called from the Yolkomotive. "Surrender the shard and we will leave you with your stolen ship and your pathetic lives."

"The Chaos Council has come for me and the shard just as I said they would." Rusty smirked.

"They can have you back!" Black Rose retorted.

Dread draws his sword.

"If he wants me beauty, he can come down here and take it from me!"

"Bring it!" Deep said.

The hatch opens and Eggforcers flies out. They hover around Dread and shoot him, but he flips away from them. An Eggforcer lands on deck and slams its fists down when Batten and Sails jumps away. Dread kicks it away, dodges another Eggforcer, and kicks it too, then punches another. Catfish throws Sails at an Eggforcer. Sails swings a gun at it, causing it to get tazed and fell.

"You can't have it! It's mine! Mine!" Dread shouted as the shard begins to glow along with his sword.

With Shard energy, Dread's sword zaps Eggforcers with electricity. A shot from an Eggforcer throws Dread back against the door, making him drop the shard. It rolls away and the Eggforcer takes it.

"No!"

Dread tries to go after it, but the Eggforcer already flies away with the shard.

"When I get me hands on ye lousy landlubbers lunatics, I'll take me sword and—"

Deep luckily shuts him out as Dread says other things that are... truly bad words no one wants to hear, stabbing the sword down and punching his fists.

"That filthy sea dog put up a fight. Eggforcers! Give them a final volley to remember us by." Deep ordered.

Eggforcers turns and lands shots all over the deck and damages a sphere. Rusty turns away from an explosion, nearly getting caught from it.

"All systems are fully disabled, Captain." Eggforcer said.

"Eggcellent." Deep and Done It smirked.

"What about Rusty Rose?" Done It asked.

"Leave her." Deep said, not caring about her. "She's failed us one too many times."

Rusty's eyes widens and watches the Yolkomotive turn to fly away.

"They are..."

She gets short circuit as her robot eye flashes pink for a moment before flashing back to red.

"...leaving me." she said in disbelief and betrayal.

Black Rose looks back at her with sympathy. Smoke rises from the sphere.

Sonic and Gwen runs and surfs over the water between sharp rocks and heads toward the mountain. They reaches land and speeds up a sheer rock wall. They shoots past the top and lands and looks at the distance. They noticed smoke up ahead as the Yolkomotive flew away.

"Smoke! And another Egg ship." Sonic said.

"That's gotta be Dread." Gwen said.

"You really care about him, don't ya?" he said with his eyebrow raised.

Gwen blushes.

"H-He's my friend. Of course, I care about him." she stuttered.

"Right..." he rolled his eyes.

They heard static on their regulator and looked down at it.

"Sonic! Gwen!" Nine called. "That Chaos Council have the shard!"

"Nine?" they said in unison.

"I bought you two some time. You gotta hurry if you're gonna get it back before The Mothership gets there."

"Thanks, pal. And don't worry, hurrying is what we do best." Sonic assured.

"He's not wrong." Gwen said with a smirk.

The two hedgehog siblings speed down the mountain and runs and surfs over the water.

"Wonder what happened to those pirates?" he questioned.

"Hopefully, they're alright." she said.

"Okay, if we're gonna catch that ship, we're gonna need to get airborne."

Sonic and Gwen jumps onto the Kraken and hops on deck, landing behind Dread who's talking to his crew.

"We can't, Captain!" Sails said.

The crew gasps to see them as Sonic and Gwen waves.

"Yo-ho, pirates!" Sonic greeted.

Dread's eyes widens and throws his sword at them. Gwen quickly draws her sword and deflects it. Dread's sword flies back towards Dread who dodges as it stabs on the ground besides him.

"That's one way of greeting your enemy." Gwen smirked.

"Sonic?? Gwen??" Dread's crew said in shock.

"You're back!"

Dread runs over and hugs Gwen, spinning her around.

"I told you I'll come back." she said, giggling.

"That's right!" Sonic grinned.

Dread places her down and takes back his sword.

"What happened here?" Gwen asked.

"Those scurvy eggheads stole me beauty." Dread glared in anger.

"We heard. Your... beauty, huh?" Sonic said, questioning about the Shard. "Hmm, well, whatever you're calling it, we have to get it back and me and sis need your help."

"That's right." Gwen nodded.

Dread smirks, to which she noticed, wondering if that's a good smirk or a bad smirk. Sonic though didn't notice and zooms up to the top.

"Come on! We have to get this ship moving and go after them."

"The ship is damaged and we're not going anywhere." Sails pointed out.

"I can fix The Kraken." Rusty spoke out.

"Rusty." Gwen said in surprise.

"Yeah, Rusty can fix it! Wait, is she your prisoner?" Sonic said, confused she's here.

"What about The Council? Why suddenly you want to help?" Gwen asked suspiciously.

Batten flies up to a tied up Rusty and glares.

"Aye, she's loyal to her beloved Council."

"That was before they desserted me."

Rusty's red robot eye turns pink after another short circuits.

"I will join your crew. We will make them regret tossing me aside like scrap metal."

Gwen gets overjoyed that she's making her choice now and is on their side.

"She's got a good point." she said, smiling at Rusty.

Sonic zooms back into the deck and gives Dread thumbs up.

"Seems legit!" he agreed.

Dread points his sword at Rusty.

"Do ye agree to follow me orders?" he asked.

"Aye." Rusty said.

"And do you swear to wreak vengeance on those who stole me beauty?" he said, clenching his fist.

"I... just said that." she deadpanned.

He stares at her for a moment and smirks.

"Rose, cut her loose!"

Black Rose salutes and goes over to untie Rusty.

"Yes! This team's really starting to come together!" Sonic winked and went to Rusty.

"Things are really looking up pretty good." Gwen said, smiling at Dread.

Dread puts a thoughtful look on his face, holding his chin.

"Hmm, his speed will be useful in getting me beauty back." he said and laughed maliciously.

Gwen stops smiling and gets concerned, recalling what Shadow warned her earlier.

"Um, Dread? You doing alright?" she asked.

Dread snaps out of it and smiles warmly at her.

"I'm fine, Gwen. Everything's going to be okay." he assured, stroking her quills.

She slightly blushes, glancing away whilst frowning a bit.

"Good to be back on the same side again, huh?" Sonic asked, smiling at Rusty.

"It is a means to an end. Except for Gwen." Rusty said flatly.

"Ouch. That hurts. She'll come around." he said, wincing.

Black Rose shakes her head, giving Sonic a deadpan expression. Sonic zooms over to Rusty and leans against the controls.

"You think you can fix it?" he asked as Rusty types.

"Definitely." Rusty said.

"I don't know. I couldn't get it working." Black Rose said in exaggeration.

"Rerouting stored energy from solar collectors to ignition systems. Overwriting safety protocols. Rebooting main drive and engine sub-systems."

Lights on the deck's railing switch on and glow inside the main tower. The crew, including Gwen jumped in victory.

"Huzzah!!!"

"Pfft! Lucky guess." Black Rose scoffed, crossing her arms.

Rusty stops and turns to glare at her.

"You two are actually a lot alike, you know that?" Sonic chuckled.

Rusty and Black Rose turned to him.

"We are nothing alike!!" they said in unison.

"Yeah, nothing same-y about that." Batten commented, hovering.

Gwen giggled at those two Amys. The Kraken's engine fire up and start sailing toward the Yolkomotive. Rusty and Black Rose leaps over to the cannons and starts firing up at the Yolkomotive.

"Eggforcers, destroy The Kraken!" Deep ordered.

The Yolkomotive opens the hatch to release Eggforcers as they fly past the Kraken, firing. They circle back and Gwen summons out waves to wipe them off. More Eggforcers drop from the craft.

"Hang on to your boots! Time to get what we came for." Dread said.

The Eggforcers fly down and Black Rose shoots one.

"Got 'em!"

Rusty gets another.

"I have eliminated two."

More Eggforcers fall and Gwen hits three more with her wave, dragging them down into the water.

"I knocked four!" Black Rose glared.

"Make that ten!" Rusty smirked smugly.

"Girls, this isn't a game!!" Gwen groaned, rolling her eyes.

Gwen creates a giant water fist and grabs the whole pack of Eggforcers and squeezes them, causing them to explode. Black Rose and Rusty didn't listen to her and kept shooting more Eggforcers while counting.

"Twelve!"

"Thirteen!" 

"Fourteen!"

"Fifteen!!"

They fire on the Yolkomotive and hit the bottom. The Yolkomotive dives into the sea.

"Hang on te yer p'totatoes, we be goin' in!" Dread grinned, pushing the controls down.

"Are we going under the water?" Black Rose questioned in shock as the Kraken starts diving down.

"But we're still outside!!" Gwen and Sonic shouted in unison.

The crew moves in slow motion. Sonic speeds to each of them and puts them in a submarine control room, including Gwen with Dread. Sonic pulls Rusty away from her gun, but she hangs on to it as her arms and legs extend.

"Leave me here. I have a score to settle." Rusty said in determination.

Sonic lets her go and goes below. The Kraken submerges and Dread's flag sinks under the surface last. Sonic enters the control room and gasps, leaning against the door. The Kraken sails through the water trailing bubbles.

"Where'd they go, where'd they go?" Dread growled, looking around.

Sonic and Gwen gasps and speeds to a window in front of them.

"Somebody hit the lights!" Gwen said.

Sails presses a button and headlights switch on. Sonic and Gwen looks ahead, so does Rusty on deck. Dread and the crew stare.

"What is that?" Dread asked.

Among many towers of rock, the Loop-de-loop stands.

"Green Hill..." Sonic and Gwen voiced out as they pass through it.

Rusty looks over and hears something and turns to see the Yolkomotive hiding from them.

"The Chaos Council craft is behind us."

"Me beauty calls ta me." Dread grinned crazily.

He makes the sharp turn around the rock, zooming towards the Yolkomotive.

"Eat plasma, deserters!" Rusty said and fired the cannon.

The crafts pass each other and the Kraken turns to chase. Rusty keeps firing and hits several rock formations.

"You'll see be in me grasp again, me beauty. Launch the torpedoes!" Dread said, concerning Gwen.

Dread presses buttons and releases torpedoes from the Kraken. The Yolkomotive pulls up, dodging them. The torpedoes head towards the Loop-de-loop. Sonic gasps and covers his eyes. The torpedoes pass through a hole. Sonic uncovers his eyes and sighs in relief.

"You won't be getting away that easy, scoundrels." Dread laughed.

He steers toward the loop, making Sonic and Gwen gasp. The Kraken smashes through it, breaking the loop apart.

"DREAD!!" Sonic and Gwen shouted in sadness and disbelief.

The Kraken rises into the air.

"Yes!" Dread grinned.

On deck, Rusty faces the Yolkomotive and fires. The craft quickly moves up, dodging the fire before firing back. The Kraken dodges them as Rusy keeps firing. Dread grins and drives the Kraken at the Yolkomotive in speed. Sonic and Gwen goes over to his side.

"You're gonna turn, right, Dread? ...Right?" Sonic asked nervously.

Gwen gulps and holds onto Dread, making him smirk. Rusty fires and hits the engine. The Yolkomotive glances off the Kraken, causing it to shake as the crew and Sonic and Gwen screamed except Dread. The Kraken falls into the water and floats on the surface. Sonic runs out on deck and sees the Yolkomotive also floating. Deep and Done It stumble onto their deck with some Eggforcers, coughing and gasping as smoke comes out.

"Crazy pirate nearly killed us!" Done It growled.

They face the Kraken as Gwen runs out on deck and watches Sonic run over the water toward the Yolkomotive as he runs around the craft. He knocks out the Eggforcers and goes below the craft. A few seconds later, Sonic hits an Eggforcer and lands on top of it, holding out a half blue Shard.

"Yes!!" Gwen fist pumped.

"Stop him!" Deep ordered.

Sonic jumps off and Done It fires with the cannon.

"Run, rabbit, run!" he laughed.

Gwen waterbends and goes to release an attack as Sonic runs for the Kraken, dodging Done It's shots.

"A little help here!"

Gwen makes the water float and makes it into a ball as Rusty turns her cannon and then fires. Gwen quickly makes the water go toward the laser and curls into a ball, freezing it as it heads towards Done It. It hits Done It's cannon, causing it to explode and leaving out a big ice glacier. Done It falls back.

"Ha ha! Nice shot, Gwen and Rusty!" Sonic saluted before dodging the shots.

"My pleasure." Rusty smiled.

"We make a pretty good team." Gwen grinned.

"We sure do."

Rusty keeps firing while Gwen wipes out the Eggforcers with water. Two Eggforcers fire at Sonic on the water as more of them fly toward the Kraken. They hit Rusty's cannon and land on the deck. Rusty and Gwen slides the deck to a stop in their fighting stance as Gwen draws her sword. Dread and the crew joined them.

"It's up to us now, me crew! Pirate like you've never pirated before!" Dread said.

The two sides go at each other. Batten cuts off an Eggforcer's antenna and kicks another. Dread punches one. An Eggforcer punches Rusty, but she lands on the tower's door and knocks it back. Black Rose chops on Eggforcer with her sword. Catfish jumps onto another. Gwen summons a small pillar of ice, where she proceeds to send a series of ice discs at the Eggforcers. The discs chops them into pieces. She then sends stream of water at the other. Sonic runs from Eggforcers when Deep in his robot suit kicks him. He falls into the water and then resurfaces thanks to his special boots.

"Uh... oh."

Deep holds the Shard.

"Thanks, rodent. Gotta fly!"

"Not a chance!" Rusty said and hit Deep who drops the Shard.

Batten catches it. Flying, she throws it at Dread who catches it. He stares down at it crazily.

"Me beauty!"

Deep lands in front of him.

"Not for long!"

They clash with their swords. Gwen sees that and gives Deep a swift kick to the ribs.

"You again!" Deep growled.

"Miss me?" Gwen smirked, pulling out her sword.

"Not really! Raah!!"

Deep, Gwen, and Dread sword fight as Deep swings his swords at Gwen who blocks them with her own. She pushed him back and flipped over his head, going to swing at him when he grabbed her wrist and slammed her on the deck. Dread growled and kicked Deep away.

"Leave me mate alone!"

Gwen gets up and spin dashes at Deep who blocks her with his two katanas, being pushed back. Dread jumped over Gwen and swung his sword at Deep who blocked it again and pushed him away and then kicked Gwen away as the two landed. Before they could act, Deep side kicks Dread and Gwen, causing the Shard to go flying out of Dread's grasp.

"No!!" he screamed.

Deep catches it and laughs evilly before saluting the two.

"So long, Captain Looser and Stupid Pirate Girly!" he said and flew away.

Dread helps out Gwen and runs up to flying Deep.

"Come back here, you yellow-bellied barnacle!" he shouted.

Sonic watches Deep fly off.

"Get that shard back here, you flying beatnik!" Done It demanded.

"Sonic! We got it covered here. Go after the Shard!" Dread said.

Sonic looks at Gwen who nods. He glares in determination and runs after the Yolkomotive.

"That's right, fetch me precious while I turn me crew on ya to steal it back!" Dread grinned evilly.

Gwen turns to him in shock.

"Wait, what? That's not—"

She was cut off to see an Eggforcer attempt to punch her when she slices it off in half. Another Eggforcer comes and stops Dread's sword with its fists. Dread dodges the blast and Batten kicks an Eggforcer away from him. She sees more Eggforcers coming.

"Sonic!" Batten shouted out.

"He's turned on us, Batten! We're on our own!" Dread lied.

"What?!" Gwen exclaimed in disbelief. "That was not part of the plan!"

Catfish and Sails look toward Dread. The new Eggforcers attack and began to fire. Sails flies up and zaps an Eggforcer. Another hits him and Catfish catches him.

"Nineteen, twenty!" Black Rose counted, shooting the Eggforcers.

But then her cannon is hit, causing her to fall back.

"Twenty-one, twenty-two!"

So as Rusty's as she falls back. They pick up the cannon and keep firing.

"Twenty-three, twenty-four..." Rusty counted.

"...twenty-five, twenty-six, twenty-seven!" Black Rose counted.

"Get back, ye rust buckets. I'll break your sea legs!" Dread said, throwing his sword at the Eggforcer and stabbing it before pulling his sword back and punching it away.

"He abandoned us, Capt'n?" Batten asked in shock.

"Sorry, Batten. We never should have trusted that blue land-lover." Dread said with a glare.

Gwen couldn't believe what she was hearing as she bends two streams of water from the ocean and sends them both at the flying Eggforcers. Dread turns to Rusty and Black Rose.

"Me Roses!" he called out.

"Aye. Capt'n!" they both said in unison.

"Sonic has abandoned us. This be our final stand!" Dread said.

They gasped and glared.

"Aye, Capt'n!"

"Thirty-six." Black Rose counted, shooting another.

"Thirty-seven." Rusty counted, shooting the other.

"Thirty-eight."

"Thirty-nine..." 

"Forty!"

Dread jumps away from the blast and turns to the Yolkomotive. Gwen's body shakes in anger and she tightens her fist and sends water whips at Dread. He halts and turns to her in shock.

"YOU LIAR!!" Gwen yelled, sending a stream of water at him who dodges them. "I TRUSTED YOU!!"

Dread yelps and keeps dodging more water she throws at him.

"Wait, Gwen!"

Gwen ignores him and goes to attack him when she notices more Eggforcers closing in. She glares at him who flinches.

"We're not finished yet until we defeated them all."

She turns back to the Eggforcers and generates the water into a larger stream of water and sends it full force at them, releasing all the anger she had brought out. Dread watches her sadly and quickly focuses on the Eggforcers.

"Fifty-four!" Black Rose counted, firing more Eggforcers.

"Fifty-five." Rusty counted, firing too.

"Fifty-six!"

"Fifty-seven."

"Fifty-eight!"

"Fifty-nine."

Together, they fired the last Eggforcer.

"Sixty!"

Black Rose raises a hand.

"High five!" she said with happiness.

"High... five?" Rusty questioned, turning her hand.

Black Rose slaps her hand, making Rusty smile. Gwen turns away from them and glares at Dread.

Meanwhile, Sonic and Deep keep fighting over the Shard. Deep jumps and misses him and Sonic spins at him, knocking Deep down. He faces Done It who holds up his cane, holding the Shard. Three balls on the bottom glow and fire. Sonic dodges them and jumps. Done It holds up the cane and knocks Sonic back.

"Ha ha!" Sonic laughed.

Deep knocks him into doors from behind. Sonic groans as he slides down and Deep advances. He raises his spinning fire disc when Sonic spins past him. The cane balls glow and spin. Sonic dodges the shot and it hits Deep. He grabs the Shard and kicks the cane away from Done It. He jumps off the deck to an engine.

"Eat plasma, hedgehog!" Done It yelled, holding up his glowing cane.

"Aww! You got it right for once!" Sonic cooed, winking.

He then jumps away from the blast, shooting the engine.

"Oopsie pickle!" Done It gasped, shrinking at his mistake.

Sonic runs for the Kraken with the Shard and jumps on deck.

"And that's the way it's done." he said.

He stopped smiling to see Rusty and the crew glare at him. Dread comes up behind him and points his sword at Sonic.

"He hung us out to dry." Dread lied. "He's a traitor, me crew. Can't be trusted, just like them!"

He gestured to the Yolkomotive.

"That's not true!" Gwen yelled, leaping in front of Dread and drawing her sword back at him. "You're only after that stupid Shard!!"

"Gwen! Get out of the way! He's a traitor!" Dread ordered, not wanting to hurt her.

"But, Dread, we had a plan." Sonic said sadly.

"Hand it over." Dread ordered.

"You abandoned us, Sonic!" Sails said in betrayal.

"Ye left us at the mercy o' them robuts." Batten glared.

"I'll blast 'im right b'tween the eyes." Black Rose sneered, pointing the cannon at Sonic.

"Just do not hit the Shard or Gwen." Rusty warned, pointing the cannon at Sonic as well.

Sonic backed away, looking sad and betrayed while Gwen backed away as well, protecting her brother closely. Gwen is just as sad, betrayed, and angry.

"You're seriously going to believe what Dread just told you?! He doesn't care about you guys nor me and Sonic!" Gwen shouted.

"I do care about you!" Dread exclaimed.

"Then why lie?! I thought I knew you..." she said in a broken voice.

"Gwen..." Dread frowned, feeling his heart ache.

"I... wha... ho— how could— it..." Sonic stuttered.

Dread glared at Sonic and pointed his sword at him.

"Last chance, Blue. The Shard or yer life!"
