"What did you do?" Shadow's voice echoed in the darkness.

"Be careful. Sonic, wait!" Tails' voice echoed with concern.

"SONIC!!!" Gwen and her friends screamed out.

In explosion, Sonic and Gwen flies back through the dark purple void. Shadow appears after and sees them.

"Sonic." Shadow glared before getting concerned. "Gwen!"

He flies towards them when Tails appears next with the tiny lights.

"As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman! And Gwen, I will be a man you always see me as!"

Shadow flies past him and skates on rocks as Amy appears after Tails.

"The forest is the most beautiful place on earth."

Knuckles comes next and punches his fists.

"I don't need the details, just tell me who to smash. And uh, Gwen, uh... y-you're the amazing person I've ever met."

Rouge appears last as Shadow teleports a few times to go faster.

"You may not like the way I do things, but I get things done! Say Gwen, wanna go for a date sometime?"

Amy appears again.

"I may be the one who can bring everyone together, but there's only two hedgehogs they'll follow into battle."

Shadow follows Sonic and Gwen to a red gateway as they fall through. Shadow pushes against the white light, trying to get through as he struggled. It throws him back and he hits the rock and loses his grip on the Chaos Emerald. It falls into darkness. Shadow crashes on another rock and holds his head in pain. He looks at his hands and his eyes widens.

"The Chaos Emerald!" he gasped.

Shadow looks around then flies at the red gateway again. He punches it. Flashbacks to New Yoke City appears as Sonic struggles with his speed and then looks down at his shoes that sparks.

"My shoes!" Sonic gasped.

Gwen's eyes widens to see the strand of her hair bangs glowing red.

"That's... new." she said, touching her hair.

Nine turns to them with devices in his hands.

"Attach these." he said as he attached grey rings on Sonic and Gwen's gloves and shoes. "This energy is still a mystery."

Shadow keeps punching. At Chaos Council headquarters, Council watches Sonic inside the hamster ball with Gwen watching in horror. Shadow stops punching as the hamster ball emerges through the gateway. He watches Sonic trialing blue and purple streaks just like what he saw in his vision. Glaring, he flies at the ball.

"Sonic, it's broken. It's all broken." Shadow said.

Gwen starts to glow brighter as electricity sparks around her until she yells at the top of her lungs.

"STOP!!!!"

A shockwave bursts out through headquarters and the void with Gwen's electricity power from her outburst. In New Yoke City, the shockwave throws back Knucks and Rebel. In the void, Shadow lands on a rock and looks at the yellow gateway.

At headquarters, Sonic touches the red shard and gets sucked in. Gwen struggles to take the shard from Nine and accidentally touches it and gets sucked in as well. The hedgehog siblings crosses the void to a green gateway. In the ball, Sonic and Gwen faces Shadow.

"Sonic! Gwen!"

In Boscage, Sonic falls onto the green shard and shoots across the void. Gwen touches the green shard, taking half of the color of the shard before flying across the void with Sonic. Shadow chases them to the red gateway.

In New Yoke, Sonic begins to glow blue as he runs.

"Huh? What's going on?!" he exclaimed in shock.

Shadow appears next to him.

"Sonic! Keep running! Do not stop!" he shouted.

Sonic runs out through the red gateway and into a blue gateway. 

Gwen makes her roller skates speed up more and notices that she's glowing bright blue the more she skates.

"What the heck?!" she exclaimed in shock.

Shadow appears next to her.

"Gwen!! Keep going! Just keep on going!"

Gwen skates through the red gateway into the same blue gateway Sonic had run through. Shadow follows and stops. Glaring, he flies upward. In No Place, a blue prism shard flies at Sonic's face and falls through the void. Shadow kicks a rock to stop Sonic from flying. Gwen places a hand on the shard. A familiar spark lights up and she begins to feel more power than ever as blue and purple shard starts to lose its color halfway before she disappears.

Sonic groans, holding his head and finds Shadow floating across from him with the purple shard behind him.

"Shadow?" he questioned in surprise.

Suddenly, they heard something and turned to find Gwen tumbling through the void from the blue gateway. Shadow immediately acts and grabs her by the arm and pulls her close against his chest. Gwen groans and looks up to see Shadow.

"Shadow?! You're here?" she gasped.

Back to present

"I don't have time to deal with whoever you are. Me and sis just wanna go home." Sonic groaned in annoyance.

Shadow's grip on Gwen tightens, which startles her. He pulls himself away from Gwen and glares angrily at Sonic.

"Home? Home doesn't exist anymore, because of you!"

Shadow flies at Sonic with his fist raised. Gwen gasps in horror. Sonic gasps and yells in fright, trying to protect himself. Shadow knocks Sonic back against another rock. Sonic dodges the punch.

"Shadow! Stop!!" Gwen shouted, flying after them.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Whoa! Ooh! Ooh! Ahh!" Sonic yelped, hopping onto the rocks before sighing. "Can't you just leave me alone?"

Shadow kicks Sonic who bounces against other rocks. He growls and chases with Gwen trialing behind. Sonic tries to grab onto a rock and smacks into the other. He then lands and starts jogging.

"Alright, gonna get back to New Yoke City. Find Nine." Sonic muttered. "Heh, maybe Nine will pass through and me and sis can catch a ride."

Shadow flies by and Gwen catches up and lands on the rock and skates after Sonic who groans in annoyance.

"Ugh, you again. Let me guess, you're Grumpy Shadow. Although that would be redundant."

"Not funny, Sonic! It's obviously him! Have we seen any other versions of him?! No!!" Gwen groaned.

"Shadow who needs a shower." Sonic continued, ignoring her. "Sherif Shadow of floating rock world!"

He jogs off the edge of the rock. Shadow grabs him and throws him into another rock. Gwen winces at it, thinking he deserves that seeing at how angry Shadow is while recalling what he said earlier. Shadow pulls Sonic up and does it again, making him yelp. Gwen flies in and lands in front of Shadow.

"Enough!" she demanded.

"Stay out of it, Gwen. This is between him and me. I'm stuck in here and it's all your fault, Sonic!" Shadow glared.

"Yeah, yeah, what else is new?" Sonic sighed. "Wait, how do you know my name?"

Gwen facepalmed herself at his stupidity as Shadow gritted his teeth at Sonic.

"Unless..." Sonic gasped in realization and gets happy. "Shadow, you're you! The real you!"

He gets up and hugs Shadow, much to his annoyance. Shadow pushes him away.

"The only me." Shadow replied.

He then goes to punch Sonic who dodges it and the punch breaks the rock apart as the trio starts floating.

"You just don't listen." Shadow started.

"He never does." Gwen muttered, much to Sonic's dismay.

"What part of 'our home doesn't exist anymore' are you not understanding?"

"What did you just say?" Sonic asked, feeling scared.

"You don't mean..." Gwen started, looking shocked.

"What do you think Iv'e been trying to tell you? When you broke the Paradox Prism, pulled Gwen into your mess, you broke our reality. Green Hill is gone. It doesn't exist anymore." Shadow explained.

"No way..." Gwen covered her mouth in horror.

Sonic was just as shocked as his sister. He looked down sorrowful.

"I know I caused this. It just keeps getting worse."

"No matter how hard we tried, we always go back in circle." Gwen said.

Shadow sees her sadness and sighs.

"Follow me."

He grabs Gwen by the hand and flies off with her. Sonic follows, jumping off rocks to keep up.

"How did you end up in here?" Gwen asked.

"I chased him up the Temple Mountain and into the cave just as Sonic shattered the Prism. So I used the Chaos Emerald to teleport out. But when I reappeared, I was here." Shadow explained.

"Stuck between the Shatter spaces." Sonic concluded.

Shadow leads them into the red gateway and they land on the rock.

"Yeah. The Void."

"So that must be the New Yoke City Gateway."

Lights glow on Sonic and Gwen's glove and boots from No Place. Shadow glances at them then at Gwen's hair as he notices the glowing different colors of the strand. Which makes him wonder about that.

"Have you been able to see us this whole time?" Sonic asked.

"Not exactly." Shadow replied. "When you get going fast you kick up the Prism energy and it thins the veil to the Void. It's like it's opening a portal through the Gateway."

"So that must be how me and sis teleported into No Place." Sonic said, clicking his fingers.

"And it explains our change of clothes. You didn't see any of that, right?" Gwen said, looking embarrassed.

Shadow glances away, looking slightly embarrassed as he may or may not have seen her Boscage jungle clothes. Even seeing her now in her No Place pirate clothes, he finds her pretty attractive in that.

"We were looking for Nine, we started running fast and then suddenly we portalled out of New Yoke." Sonic said.

Shadow grabs her hand again and flies off. Sonic follows.

"I've tracked you two as you've gone from Gateway to Gateway." Shadow said.

Gwen and Sonic notices the blue gateway.

"No Place." Gwen said, wondering how Dread and others are doing now.

They kept flying as Shadow pushes some rocks out of the way. Sonic and Gwen notices the green gateway.

"Boscage Maze." Sonic said.

"What's down there?" Gwen asked, pointing towards the darkness.

Shadow flashes back to losing the Chaos Emerald.

"Not sure. From what I can tell, it's an eternity of darkness. That decays all life."

"Game over." Sonic sighed.

"Why didn't you just follow us in?" Gwen wondered.

"You and Sonic can get into those places, but I can't. With one exception."

"And that is?" she asked.

"When you unleashed a shockwave from New Yoke, it blew me back to the outer reaches of the Void. And lead me here."

Shadow spots the yellow gateway.

"And for reasons I haven't figured out yet, this Gateway let me in. Maybe it's because the shatter space isn't fully formed, or maybe it's decaying, I'm not sure. But it's not whole. Like a ghost."

"So, then... what is this place?" Sonic asked, looking at the yellow gateway they made it to.

"Come see for yourself." Shadow said before he and Gwen flew towards the yellow gateway.

Sonic follows and the three goes in. They burst into shatter space. Sonic screams as they fall down. Shadow and Gwen lands on their feet while Sonic lands on his face, much to her amusement as she snickers. Shadow shook his head at his landing. They stand in the place like Green Hill, but with paler colors.

"Whoa, this one looks like home!" Sonic smiled and ran.

Gwen looks concerned as she noticed the lack of colors around her home. Shadow notices and places a hand on her shoulder with comfort.

"How long has this been?" she asked.

"I'm not sure. But it's even worse than you could think." Shadow said. "You might wanna see this."

He then skates off with Gwen catching up. They made it to the beach as they find Sonic looking at the hologram of his friends.

"As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman! And Gwen, I will be a man you always see me as!" Tails said as he hovers.

"Oh, Tails, you have no idea how much me and sis missed hearing that." Sonic said.

"The forest is the most beautiful place on earth." Amy said, sitting on the rock with Birdie hovering next to her.

"Amy!" Sonic said.

"I don't need the details, just tell me who to smash. And uh, Gwen, uh... y-you're the amazing person I've ever met."  Knuckles said, lifting up a big boulder.

"Ah! Boy, have I missed you guys! Even you, Knuckles."

"You may not like the way I do things, but I get things done! Say Gwen, wanna go for a date sometime?" Rouge said, hanging upside down on the palm tree.

"Nah, no complaints from me, Rouge." Sonic chuckled.

"As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman! And Gwen, I will be a man you always see me as!" Tails repeated.

This made Gwen frown in realization that they're just... a ghost.

"Huh? Yeah, you just said that. Buddy, I'm right here." Sonic said in confusion, waving at him.

"The forest is the most beautiful place on earth." Amy repeated.

"I don't need the details, just tell me who to smash. And uh, Gwen, uh... y-you're the amazing person I've ever met." Knuckles repeated.

"You may not like the way I do things, but I get things done! Say Gwen, wanna go for a date sometime?" Rouge repeated.

Tails repeated the same thing he said as Sonic backed away. Gwen starts tearing up.

"What's wrong with them?" Sonic asked.

"It's a Shatter space, guys, just like the others." Shadow said. "A cruel version to make us suffer."

All of their friends starts repeating the same thing over and over as Sonic slumps against a rock. Gwen sniffs, covering her face while trying to wipe off the tears. Shadow hugs her and she cries onto his shoulder. Sonic gets concerned of his sister and looks at his gloves. They're dull blue grey with grid pattern like his shoes. He looks at his sister to see her clothes the same color and pattern as his along with her gloves and boots.

"It was cool the first couple of times." Sonic sighed, looking down.

Gwen pulls herself away from Shadow and wipes away the tears before approaching her brother along with Shadow. She places a hand on his shoulder and squeezes it with comfort. Sonic smiles in appreciation before getting up and looking at the gloves again.

"How do I fix this?" he asked sorrowfully.

Shadow sighs for a moment.

"Come with me."

He then skates away over the sand. Sonic and Gwen looks back at their friends before following. They past Big and Froggy. Big waves, holding the fishing rod.

"No problem, Sonic and Gwen."

Froggy croaks in response.

Sonic and Gwen follows Shadow to temple mountain. They speed up the mountain by a long crack. Sonic and Gwen catches up to Shadow as they speed up in sync. They later stop on the cliff outside the cave. Shadow stands closer to the entrance and looks back at Sonic and Gwen.

"Sonic. Gwen." Shadow said.

Sonic and Gwen slowly walks closer to the cave entrance. The grid pattern on Sonic and Gwen's shoes gets brighter inside the cave. The hedgehog siblings stops and looks ahead.

"I guess that's a ghost, too." Sonic sighed.

A yellow shard remains in the Paradox Prism. Shadow steps up besides Gwen. A purple outline marks where the other shards had been. Sonic and Gwen flashes back to where it all started where they are fighting against the Badniks to stop Eggman from taking the Paradox Prism.

"We don't know what the Prism's capable of." Tails said.

"If Eggman wants it, it can't be good." Amy added.

"Step away from the rock, egghead." Sonic said.

"Sonic, wait!" Tails called out.

"Sonic, no!" Gwen, Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, and Tails called out in unison.

In the present, Sonic and Gwen stares at the shard.

"I would do anything to be back..."

"Home." Gwen and Shadow said in unison.

"There is a chance." Shadow said and speeds ahead.

Sonic and Gwen follows him to the shard. Though for some reason, Gwen feels drawn to the yellow shard as if it's pulling her towards it. Shadow walks around the shard.

"Every Shatter space contains a shard, creates a distorted version of our reality. That means this one..."

"Has to be real!" Sonic and Gwen concluded.

Sonic looks down at his glowing shoes.

"Exactly." Shadow said.

Sonic lifts a finger towards the yellow shard, which Shadow snaps at him.

"Don't!" he warned.

Sonic quickly pulls his finger back.

"I wasn't going to touch it. I was just pointing at it to tell you not to touch it." he retorted, pointing at him.

"Uh, guys?"

They turned to notice Gwen's hair strand is glowing brighter and as if the force starts pulling her towards the yellow shard.

"Gwen, don't!" Shadow called out.

It was too late as Gwen was slammed against the yellow shard. Sparks bursts out and Gwen screams in agony. Shadow and Sonic quickly runs to her aid and tries to free her when the force pushes them back. Gwen starts to feel more energy inside her as if she's consuming it as she notices the yellow shard loses half of its color just like the other shards until she manages to remove herself from it, leaving it half yellow. She panted heavily as Sonic and Shadow ran back to her.

"Sis, are you okay?!" Sonic exclaimed.

"I-I'm fine, I think." Gwen panted out.

"Gwen, your hair." Shadow said, touching her strand.

They noticed Gwen has another color in her hair: red, green, blue, and now yellow.

"How is this possible?" Shadow asked.

"I-I don't know. Every time I touched them, I get powers like electricity, earth, and water." Gwen explained, looking at her gloves. "And I guess that happens."

Shadow looks back at the half yellow shard for a moment then at Gwen, recalling his vision of her screaming for help and disappearing.

"Whatever it is, be careful with it."

Gwen nodded, feeling scared.

"Here's the plan." Shadow started. "The Ghost Prism shows us how the other shards needs to be placed together. If we bring them back here and connect them to this one, this real one, then maybe..."

"Yeah. Yeah, that could work. It has to work!" Sonic said in hope.

"It could be our hope of getting our home back." Gwen said.

"Yeah! We gotta show Nine. He's, like, super smart! He knows a ton about Prism energy. He—"

"No." Shadow cuts Sonic off.

"No?" Sonic questioned.

"No." Shadow repeated.

"Why no?" Gwen asked.

"I just said he's, like, super smart." Sonic said.

"He can't be trusted." Shadow stated.

"What are you talking about? Of course he can! He's just like Tails. He's just a little angst, that's all." Sonic defended Nine.

"No. He's not Tails, he's Nine. And they're not your real friends." Shadow said.

"Look, I know he can't be trusted. Trust me, it's hard after his.. betrayal." Gwen said, looking down before looking at Shadow again. "But he's real and this is his reality. Along with everyone else. I'm willing to help them."

"And you know what else is real? Nine's tech on my kicks and punching sticks as well as on sis." Sonic added. "So back up off Nine."

Shadow groans.

"Okay, look. What matters right now is that me and sis get the shards. We'll bring them back here and then we—" Sonic said.

"That's not the plan." Shadow said.

"What?" Gwen questioned.

"Wait, dude, not the plan? I'm totally confused. I thought a moment ago, you said—"

"Sonic, you literally broke our world. Why would I trust you to do anything? Or even trust you around Gwen?" Shadow glared, pulling Gwen towards him.

Gwen blushes at the sudden move he did. While she's flattered that he's looking out for her, she can still trust Sonic. She knows he broke their world, but he's willing to fix his mistakes and she believes in him.

"Okay, I can see how you might think that. But—"

Shadow knocks Sonic back with his spin dash, creating dusts.

"Sonic!" Gwen called out in worry.

As the dusts cleared, Sonic groans, getting up and holding his arm in pain. Shadow marches towards him.

"Your turn is over. I'm taking the tech and I'm going after the shards myself. Gwen is coming with me as well, away from you."

"Wait, Shadow! Don't bring me into this! We can work things out!" Gwen said.

"No way, Shadow! I know what you're capable of, and that's not gonna happen!" Sonic shook his head. "Nine and all the rest of them are real! So the only way you're taking my tech is over my dead—"

Shadow knocks him back again with his spin dash. Sonic lets out a heavy sigh and glares at him.

"You could've at least let me finish what I was going to say!"

Sonic spins away from the next hit. Gwen wraps her arm around Shadow and holds him.

"Shadow, stop! Let's talk!"

Shadow pulls himself away from her grip and pushes her away, but not too hard. He then skates after Sonic who runs out of the cave. Shadow knocks him off the cliff. As they fall, they punch each other. Gwen runs out of the cave and sees them fighting and skates down the cliff to follow after them.

Sonic punches Shadow's face and kicks him down. They both spin to the ground. Sonic punches Shadow who grabs the ring from Sonic's glove with his teeth. Gwen's eyes widened in surprise. He spits it out and grabs it.

"That's one. Three to go."

Sonic's eyes widened to see his glove is back to his original white glove. Shadow puts the ring on his glove.

"Want it back? Come and get it." Shadow declared, punching the ground.

He and Sonic spin at each other and land on their feet. Gwen struggled to catch up to them in speed, but they kept on moving and hitting each other. Shadow dodges Sonic with a smirk before they spin around each other. Shadow jumps away and Sonic chases him. They speed onto the beach with Gwen trailing behind. Sonic spins up and Shadow dodges his punch down. Cropped on one hand, Shadow kicks Sonic. He then spins him and throws him against the rock. Sonic tumbles through the air. Shadow grabs the rings from Sonic's shoes. Sonic spins and lands and notices his shoes is back to his original red shoes.

Shadow wears the rings on his shoes.

"Two and three."

Sonic spins at Shadow who spins away. They spin against each other. Shadow spins down the peer and Sonic chases him. They spin back to the beach and up to the ledge. Sonic punches Shadow and chases him across the beach. They go underwater. Gwen dives down after them. Shadow grabs the last ring. Sonic chases Shadow who kicks him back. Gwen tackles Shadow and tries to take the rings back when he pushes her back. Gwen swims up to the surface as they get back onto the beach. Sonic pants heavily, wiping the bottom of his nose as Shadow puts the last ring on his other glove.

"That's it, I got them all. Now I can enter the Gateways, just like you two." Shadow said, turning back to leave.

Gwen smirks and places two rings back on Sonic's shoes. She somehow manages to grab those two before he pushes her away.

"You sure about that, sweetheart?"

Sonic snickered at the look of surprise on Shadow's face. He failed to notice him blushing a bit at her calling him 'sweetheart' and then grimaced. He chases Sonic around the beach and onto the grass with Gwen following close behind. On an elevated path, Shadow jumps onto Sonic who spins away. They race on the spiral path of the Loop-de-Loop and bash into each other on the way. They speed through the Loop-de-Loop and off the end. They tumble through the air wrestling. Shadow kicks Sonic down and holds the ring. Sonic falls on the ground, landing on his face again as Shadow lands on his feet. Gwen manages to catch up and skids to a stop next to Sonic. Shadow flips the ring up and spins to catch it on his shoe, landing perfectly.

"One left. Come at me, bro!" Sonic said, kneeling into his running position.

"Nah, I'm good." Shadow smirked and spun around, showing him wearing all four rings.

"Huh? No!" Sonic and Gwen gasped.

Shadow looks at the ring and smirks. He skates up to Gwen and grabs her, carrying her bridal style.

"Wha? Hey!"

"So long, Sonic. See ya back home."

He then zooms off with Gwen in his arms. Sonic starts to panic, looking at his gloves and shoes while worried for his sister.

"No, no, no, no!"

Sonic chases Shadow as they speed up the mountain. Energy bolt zap up around Sonic. In bursts, he loses control. Shadow looks back and grins and focuses ahead again, while holding Gwen close to him. Gwen looks back with worry. Different colors glow around Shadow and Gwen  and they fly off to the top of the mountain and Shadow keeps going up. They later disappeared in a flash.

In the void, Gwen removes herself from Shadow and was about to confront him when a familiar blue blur zooms in and smacks into Shadow. She looks over and gets relieved to see Sonic. She flies after them. Sonic pushes Shadow against the rock and keeps pushing at the same speed. Some other rocks stick it. Gwen dodges the flying rocks. All the rocks fall away from Sonic and Shadow.

"Give me back my te— Aah!"

Shadow headbutts him away. They both fall onto a flat rock and fight again. Gwen sighs at this, feeling tired and annoyed with their non-stop fight. Boys will be boys. Shadow keeps punching him and flies away. A falling rock blocks him. Another sharp rock crashes by Sonic and Gwen. Shadow looks up at more rocks raining down. He speeds away and dodges the falling rocks. Sonic and Gwen chases after him and does the same. They fly off through the void and Sonic and Gwen bounces off flying rocks. Shadow spins a long rock to block Sonic, long enough to get further away.

"Come at me, bro." Shadow mocked, looking back at him.

Sonic tackles Shadow and they tumble. A bright red light flashes by and they turn to the red gateway.

"Huh?" Sonic questioned, but was knocked back by Shadow.

The Chaos Council Mothership enters the void. Rocks bounce off the massive ship. Inside, the Council sits. Mr. Doctor Eggman smiles, tapping his fingers together.

"Oh, no!" Gwen gasped in horror.

Shadow flies ahead.

"The Chaos Council?"

Sonic watches the Mothership head toward the green gateway. He's not the only one as Gwen notices it as well.

"Oh, no." Sonic gasped.

"The Boscage!" Gwen exclaimed.

Sonic and Gwen spins and takes off. Shadow flies toward the Mothership as Gwen and Sonic spins to catch up. The Mothership sails into the green gateway. Shadow holds his fists ahead of him and flies to the gateway. He pushes against it. Sonic and Gwen flies towards the gateway. Shadow keeps pushing to break through, but the rings he's wearing doesn't seem to work. Shadow yells as the gateway throws him back and falls back through the void. His eyes are closed from the hard hit he received. Sonic and Gwen stops to see him falling back.

"Shadow?"

Sonic and Gwen spins after him. Shadow falls on his back against the rock. Other rocks crashed around him as he lies unconscious. The rock blows apart after the last rock crashed onto it.

"NO!!" Sonic and Gwen shouted in fear.

"No, no, no, no!"

Sonic and Gwen land on the rock and looks around frantically.

"Shadow! Shadow!"

"Oh, please be here!"

Gwen spots Shadow falling backward toward the darkness. With determination, she suddenly bursts out fire from her hands and rockets down.

"Sis!!" Sonic called out.

Gwen reaches her hands forward after making fire disappear. Once she's close enough, she grabs Shadow and lands on a rock, carrying him bridal style. Shadow lies in her arms. Gwen takes off and carries him out of the darkness with one arm and bursting out fire from the other to help them fly up. She hits a rock and falls onto another as they tumble and land onto each other. Gwen and Shadow groans and looks at each other. They realized the position they're in as Gwen is on top of him. They quickly got off of each other, looking away.

"Y-You alright, Shadow?" she asked.

"I'm fine..." he replied flatly with a hint of embarrassment.

Sonic runs over and hugs Gwen.

"Wooo! You did it, sis! And you unlock your other power!"

Gwen activates fire in her hand and stares at it in awe.

"I guess I did."

Shadow holds his head in pain, groaning. Sonic leans against the floating rock.

"You're not dead. On the bright side, I'll get to hold this over you forever." Sonic said, lowering his voice on the last part, creeping Gwen out. "Oh, and, er, I'll take my tech back."

Shadow grumbles and looks at his gloves. He notices the rings are gone. Electronic zaps was enough for him to know Sonic already took his tech back and wears them as he deadpans.

"Ha-ha, got ya!"

Sonic shows off rings on his shoes, making Gwen roll her eyes.

"Rrr, I don't understand." Shadow growled. "I thought the tech would get me through the Gateways. Why didn't it work? I saw Nine give you two the tech. In the lab, you kicked up the prismatic energy when you go fast and crossed over into the Void. I just assumed it was the tech. But it's something else..."

"It's me and Sonic that can." Gwen concluded, disappointed that Shadow can't join them into the Gateways.

"I guess that makes me and sis kind of special, right?" Sonic grinned, looking at his gloves.

Shadow grumbles.

"The only way to fix the reality you shattered..." he said, glaring straight at Sonic. "...is if we... work..."

"Together??/together." Sonic, Gwen, and Shadow said in unison.

Shadow groans, regretting this already. As much as he's okay with working together with Gwen, Sonic is an exception.

"Wow. Coming from you that's, well, not like you at all." Sonic said, getting off of the rock. "Man, you must really hate having to admit you need us."

"You need me. I need her." Shadow corrected him with a snap.

"Sure, I'm big enough to admit that. But, not as much as you need me."

Sonic jumps and falls back toward the green gateway. Gwen looks back at Shadow.

"Don't worry. We'll come back with the shards and save our home."

Shadow looks at her softly.

"Be careful, Gwen."

"I will. You too as well."

Gwen backflips off the edge and does the same towards the gateway Sonic is heading. Shadow watches them as they land on the part of the gateway. Sonic grins at Shadow while Gwen smiles at him. Sonic salutes him and leaps into it along with Gwen who nods at Shadow.

Sonic and Gwen bursts through a portal from the sky and spins down into the wooden decks of Boscage. Their gloves, shoes, and clothes changes into Boscage jungle ones. They run after the Mothership.

"Oh, no." Sonic said.

"We better do this fast." Gwen said, which Sonic nodded in agreement.

"We won't let you down, Shadow." he declared.

"And that's a promise. Together, we're gonna fix this." she added with determination, pulling out her grass sword.

An image of Shadow's face appears behind Sonic and Gwen before the two went back to running.
