Sonic is facing Infinite as the latter hovers in the air over the edge of a ramp before the Central Tower of the fortress.

"Pathetic little hedgehog. Even with the Phantom Ruby weakened, I still have enough power to smash you into blue jelly. I'll show you how outclassed you really are!" Infinite growled.

"I'm in a class all my own. Time to put-up or shut up, Infinite!"

Sonic runs up and leaps at Infinite.

Sonic is in his running stance as Infinite float before him, gesturing him to come at him. Sonic immediately took off after him and Infinite began to fly backward away from him.

"What would you like your epitaph to read? How about 'Here lies the blue buffoon'?" Infinite joked.

"Why not 'Here comes the masked clown'? Might as well make it for the person who needs one, right?"

Sonic boosted himself to go faster and easily got through all the red cubes shaped like an 'X' Infinite created to give him illusions. Infinite created flying circle robots around him to protect himself. Sonic ignored the robots on each side and jumped and spin dashed all the robots that surrounded Infinite. He then ram into Infinite in the stomach three times and landed back.

Infinite was down for a sec but he shook it off as he's still floating and Sonic went back to running after him. Infinite did the same thing as he brought out more illusion traps that are shaped like an 'X' while creating another flying robots around him. But Sonic easily did it again by boosting himself before he's now close to the masked jackal and destroyed the robots and ram into Infinite three more times.

Just as Sonic thought he was defeated, Infinite fully charges up his Phantom Ruby prototype. He is back to full strength.

"You're done for, Sonic. The Phantom Ruby's energy is recharged."

Infinite performs a powerful energy wave.

"Perish, along with your useless friends!"

"Infinite!"

Y/N intervenes in the battle, shooting out her grappling hook at Infinite. Infinite dodges and turns to see Y/N who scowls right back. He blushes.

"Y-You!"

Y/N lands beside Sonic, and both train their angry glares at Infinite.

"My friends got me this far, and together we're gonna win!"

Infinite glares at them and floats back. They all went back to battle once again as Y/N and Sonic runs after him.

"Friends are nothing but a fleeting illusion. You can count on nobody but yourself!"

"Your mask can't hide how sad and lonely you are!" Sonic shouted. "That Phantom Ruby virtual reality of yours is the real illusion!"

"It's true..." Y/N thought as they dodge an even more red cube X's illusions Infinite created as they both boosted themself to go faster to get through them. "When I removed his mask, he look almost sad when he looked at me with those eyes. Sonic's right about that ruby. That one must clearly messed up his mind. Not if we put a stop to this!"

Sonic and Y/N nodded at each other after they made it out of those red cube illusions and boosted themself to catch up to Infinite. Once they're close to him, they jumped and ram into him three more times. They then jumped back and went back into running.

Infinite created purple blast bombs on the ground. Sonic and Y/N immediately dodges them. After a few more boost with the help of Sonic's speed, they got close to Infinite again and destroyed more robots that are around Infinite and ram into him where the ruby three more times.

Infinite was now getting weak along with the Phantom Ruby as he tried to blast them and give them illusions, but Sonic and Y/N easily dodge all of them without breaking a sweat. They then ram into Infinite once more by spin dashing together.

"Here goes, sis!"

"Ready, bro!"

"When we join forces, the sky's the limit!"

Sonic and Y/N jump up high and gave each other a fist bump and they started spinning as they yell.

"Double Boost!!"

Infinite's eyes widen to see how fast they are and tried to block by crossing his arms to cover himself. But their speed is no match for him as they ram into Infinite with their final blow. Infinite flew back and collapsed on the ground, defeated.

Infinite is in a glitch-like state on the ground before Sonic and Y/N after having been dealt a powerful defeat by them.

"Impossible. I cannot be defeated."

"Wrong, loser! The things that can't be defeated are heart, soul, and the bonds of friendship. Three things you and your counterfeit cronies lack!" Sonic glared.

Infinite pounds his fist on the ground in frustration at Sonic's truth, before finding himself being lifted into the air against his will. Infinite struggles to stand up.

"No, wait! I can still fight!"

Y/N looks at him in worry of what's going on with him. Just as she was about to say something, a white flashes before her eyes. Y/N suddenly saw Infinite being faded away to the unknown location and... his Phantom Ruby being pulled out roughly from his chest by Eggman with blood coming out and him being left to die... Her eyes widen to see a future of what's going to happen to him. Without a second though, she ran towards Infinite ignoring Sonic's call and pull Infinite down and start pulling the Phantom Ruby.

"W-What are you doing?! Stop!"

Y/N ignored him and kept on pulling the ruby out. She's doing this for his own sake and safety if he's ever going to live and he deserve a better life. With a few more pulling and Infinite's pained shouts was heard, she finally pulled out the ruby from his chest and threw it to the ground before it fade away to the unknown location as Infinite was luckily not brought with it since he's now no longer bond to that hideous gem. Y/N turned to see Infinite down as he collapsed on his knees, holding his chest in pain. She gasped to see his chest bleeding and immediately covered them with her hands, not caring if the blood is staining her hands.

"What did you do to me?! Are you trying to kill me?!" Infinite shouted, glaring at her with wide eyes.

Y/N ignored him again and focused on stopping the blood as Sonic looks on not knowing what to do. Oh, how she wishes she had a crystal for her to heal him. But she didn't know that she jinxed it as if it had granted her wish. Her hands that are on Infinite's chest are glowing white, surprising her and Infinite. Y/N looked down to see her chest glowing.

She realized that her crystal was with her the whole time and she didn't know that as she thought it was gone, but somehow it was hidden inside her. Y/N glare in determination as she went back to healing Infinite's chest wound and the crystal gladly helped out as his chest glowed white before the light flashes before them. Sonic covered his eyes from such bright light. Once the light fades away, Sonic opened his eyes and was surprised to see Infinite's chest is now healed and better, and the blood on Y/N's hands are gone and clean. Infinite was speechless at such power Y/N had hold for a long time. Y/N smiled in happiness to see him okay and fine. He looks at her.

"Why... Why would you help me?... I killed those people... I'm a monster."

Y/N just look at him and grab his hand, making him look at her and blush. She then slowly remove his metal mask. He tensed up a little, but Y/N assure him that it's alright as she now fully remove the mask and drop it to the ground. His face is still handsome as ever as well as his blue and yellow eyes with a scar over his right eye.

"Because everyone deserves a second chance to fix this mess they've made. And... that is what friends do." Y/N softly said. "There's no need to hide yourself any longer. Your face is never unsightly nor pathetic. They're beautiful."

Infinite looks at her, feeling his heart melt at such kind words he never deserve before smiling back at her. Sonic was surprised that everything is working out as Y/N had convinced Infinite to redeem himself. Sonic smiled, feeling lucky to have a sister like her to be so kind and brave. But their moments are ruined when Dr. Eggman approaches the trio in his Egg Mobile.

"You never fail to surprise me, Sonic. I didn't believe Infinite could lose. Victory will be so much sweeter when I defeat you. Don't think this is over yet, you blue nuisance. My plan just went into overtime!"

Eggman turned to see Infinite glaring at him, holding Y/N's hand tightly. His eyes widen in shock.

"Y-You! But how are you still alive?! You're supposed to fade away! Only the Phantom Ruby fade?!"

"You tried to use me and then dispose me?!! I'll make you regret this!" Infinite growled about to attack when he suddenly went limp.

Y/N immediately catches him before he could fall. Eggman's face turn from fear to a smug.

"Ha! But you're now weak and you can't stop me! You're useless anyways! So long!"

Eggman flies away with a laugh.

"He's getting away!" Y/N growled.

Sonic glare at where Eggman has gone and look at Infinite in concern.

"Yo, buddy! You okay?"

Infinite just glare at him with a deadpan look.

"Does it look like I'm okay?!"

"Right... sorry."

Sonic raised his hands up in surrender.

"Can you still stand?" Y/N asked in worry.

"No. I don't think I can after you two defeated me. But I can still fight. I will proudly fight by your side."

"That's great, Infinite." Y/N smiled.

They suddenly hear a beep coming from Y/N's radio and she immediately replied to hear Tails' voice.

"The Phantom Ruby's signal is moving underground! Eggman is up to something again!"

"The Doctor hasn't given up." Shadow spoke, making Infinite scowl at hearing his voice again. "Don't let your guard down yet."

"We have to find the entrance to the Central Tower and stop Eggman!" Tails said before radio shuts down.

"Time to get serious." Sonic said with a serious glare.

"Right. You ready for this, Infinite?"

Infinite slowly got up, removing himself from Y/N and nodded.

"Yes."

"Then let's go!!"

Sonic, Y/N, and Infinite ran off to the Central Tower.

"We haven't found an entrance, yet." Y/N said to the radio as they are now in Central Tower.

"No luck here, either." Vector spoke over the radio.

"All this searching and still nothing?" Silver asked over the radio.

"My money is on the area the other Sonic is searching." Knuckles spoke.

"How are we going to search for the entrance?" Y/N asked.

"Hold on. I think I can help with that." Infinite said, looking at her wrist.

"Really?"

"I've known Eggman since I work for him. I know where he's heading."

Infinite touched the screen of her watch and it revealed a map as he move it around before pointing at the location.

"There. It's where the other Sonic is. He's on the right track. Somehow I can sense him there."

"Whoa. That's cool. Thanks, Infinite."

"No problem." He smiled.

Sonic gives Infinite a look with a very familiar mode he's having. A brother protective mode.

"I just got a confirmation that other Sonic is heading for an entrance! I've got some help with a new friend of mine." Y/N said, not wanting to mention anyone about Infinite yet as they have something else they need to deal with starting with Eggman.

"Hold on! I'll send in reinforcements right away!" Knuckles spoke over the radio.

"Come on, let's go!" Y/N said.

"We don't have time to lose!" Sonic grinned.

The trio then ran off as they head into Eggman Empire Fortress.

"The Phantom Ruby's is headed for the reactor! We have to hurry!" Tails spoke over the radio.

"The reactor is in the innermost part of the fortress." Amy informed. "But the defense system is too tough to break through by normal means."

"Good thing we're not normal. We'll find a way through!" Sonic said.

He, Y/N, and Infinite dodges all the traps and defenses that Eggman had made and prepare as well as dodging the laser from the flying robots. They then jump up high and Y/N quickly grab Sonic and Infinite and brought out her grappling hook from her wrist band as they move to the left and landed on the yellow pipes. Infinite lost his balance at first and start to get use to it.

"So this is where Eggman built Infinite." Tails spoke, making Infinite cringe at the place they're in right now as he never wish to remember.

"It's so sad." Amy frowned. "What a lonely place to be brought into the world."

"It is... lonely..." Infinite sighed, making Y/N look at him with a sad look.

"Huh? Who's that?" Tails asked.

"Uh... That was me... doing a deep voice. Oh... it is lonely..." Sonic said, intimidating Infinite's voice, making Y/N and Infinite snicker at how terrible he's acting.

"Oh... okay."

The trio then got out of the pipe and landed only to bump into more flying robots as they brought out lasers at them. Sonic, Y/N, and Infinite immediately dodged them.

"The reactor is close! Hurry!" Tails spoke.

"We're on it! Here goes!" Sonic said.

After dodging all robots, they jump high into the air again as Y/N grab the boys again and brought out her grappling hook

"Well, I'll be." Knuckles spoke. "They made it! They actually made it!"

"I could use a little breather right about now." Sonic joked. "I'll feel better once we blow this thing to pieces!"

They are now in the reactor as Y/N landed the boys safely and saw robots here. Infinite immediately punches them out of the way and uses his tail to flick them off as Y/N brought out her Lightning Wispon and uses the lightning whip to flick the robots off as they exploded. Then, Y/N and Infinite destroyed the giant glass jar where there's a giant Phantom Ruby in it that activate the reactor as they made a huge purple blast.

"That actually felt great to destroy the Phantom Ruby! You're right! They do give me illusions!" Infinite grinned.

"I'm glad! Let's keep on destroying them!" Y/N said as she and Infinite destroy another jar of a Phantom Ruby as they exploded again.

Then, they went to the last ruby as they jump over the lasers that attempt to stop them and then Y/N and Infinite kicked the jar as it broke into pieces and made another explosion.

"The rubies are now destroyed!"

"Yeah, but now we have to go! This whole thing is going to explode!"

"Right!"

Sonic, Y/N, and Infinite immediately ran off as the whole room started exploding.

"Pretty thrilling, huh, sis? It's time to head back. Everyone's waiting for us." Sonic said and turned to Infinite. "Care to join us for a boost?"

"Um... I don't think I can do that..."

Y/N held his hand.

"Don't worry. Just hold on tight."

Infinite hesitantly nodded as he, Y/N, and Sonic jump up high. Sonic and Y/N gave each other a fist bump before they started spinning with Infinite who yells in surprise.

"Double Boost!!"

Sonic, Y/N, and Infinite zoom past the explosions. Infinite's eyes widen at how fast they are going as he let out a scream once more.
