Before Y/N went to the Central Tower, she was outside the base at night, looking out the stars in the sky. She sighed, wondering how her friends are in another dimension. She pretty much miss them. So many things have been happening so fast and she's surprised that she's keeping her sanity. Sometimes she wondered if the world really need her after bringing her here for no reason. She kinda knows that it's about saving the world, but there's something more than that and she doesn't know what.

"Hey, miss? Um... you okay?"

Y/N turned to see the red wolf with glasses.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I guess. Who're you?"

"I'm Gadget. Part of the resistance." Gadget introduced himself.

"Name's Y/N."

"I noticed you look down lately or more like you've seen lost."

Y/N sighed, looking back at the stars.

"It's just... I'm... scared. How am I ever going back home if Eggman successfully rule the Empire? What's ever going to happen to my friends? The future? Am I even a hero?"

Gadget looks at her and places his hand on her shoulder. Y/N looks at him, making him blush a little at how pretty her eyes are.

"You know, my friends taught me that it's okay to be scared. 'Cause you can do anything. Even change the future. I was found by my two new friends I have ever had and we made our own resistance to ally with Sonic and others. I was once scared, but with my friends by my side, I know that I'm not alone. I believe you know that by now."

Y/N looks at him before smiling.

"Thanks, Gadget. I... really needed that."

She stands up.

"I hope to see you in battle soon. Looking forward to fight by your side."

Gadget smiles back and stands up.

"It would be my honor, Y/N."

"See you."

She the heads back to the base.

In Metropolis, Sonic confronts Eggman, along with Orbot and Cubot, on one of Metropolis' rooftops.

"Welcome, Sonic. Glad you could make it to your funeral! Infinite, do it." Eggman ordered.

"Take this!" Infinite created a portal.

"What is that?" Sonic questioned.

As Eggman speaks, Orbot and Cubot realize the severity of the situation and scamper away in the opposite direction in absolute fear.

"Har-har. That, my spiky little frenemy, is null space."

"Null space?"

Sonic signals to Tails to go into hiding. Tails complies, taking cover behind one of the nearby vents that provides ample shielding for him.

"It's a little something that the Phantom Ruby cooked up, a closed-off space where absolutely nothing exists! Good-bye, Sonic, my soon-to-be-eradicated nemesis. Enjoy all the nothing!"

Eggman rockets the Egg Mobile skyward as Infinite fires another shot before retreating backwards to safety. The second shot enlarges the portal and activates a powerful suction vacuum in it, catching Sonic and Tails by surprise by the force of the pull. The portal begins sucking everything in. Tails holds onto the building piece he took cover behind while Sonic is losing his footing, unable to resist the pull from the portal. Just as Sonic loses his footing completely and starts to be pulled into the portal, Y/N swings in and grabs Sonic, struggling to hold onto him for as long as she can.

"Hold on! I got you!"

"Buddy! Don't! You'll be sucked in too!"

"I'm not letting go!"

Y/N's cable breaks, and Sonic and Y/N get sucked into the portal, which promptly closes. Tails is in disbelief over what he just witnessed.

"But we destroyed the Phantom Ruby's power source."

Eggman reappears in his Egg Mobile to explain everything to Tails, who stares up at Eggman in total shock.

"Tsk, tsk. Since you ALWAYS destroy the power source of my weapons, I decided to learn from my mistakes. I had a back-up power source created under Metropolis."

Back to Sonic and Y/N as they are in Null Space where everything is filled with blue cubes as they ran in this endless room.

"This isn't where we were meant to end up." Sonic sweatdropped.

"No kidding." Y/N agreed.

"A prison that goes on forever, huh? At least getting sent here taught me something. Nothing beats realizing that you're not alone."

"You're right, Sonic! I'm glad I had you as my brother!"

"Same! Let's head back. Everyone is waiting for us!"

"Yeah!" Y/N said, remembering the power move that made both of them go faster.

Her and Sonic jumped in mid-air and fist bumped each other as they spin dash forward.

"Double Boost!!"

They ran forward faster than ever as they could see the light up ahead.

"We've got this! Keep it up, sis!"

"Yeah! Nothing can contain the two of us at max power! Not even null space!"

"That's right!"

The portal appeared as they started sliding through the white pipe.

"Sup, everyone? I missed this place." Sonic greeted to the radio.

"What happened, Sonic?! You two just up and disappeared." Knuckles exclaimed in shock over the radio.

"Nothing happened. Literally. Now let's track down Eggman!"

Both Sonic and Y/N slide down on the long red pipe and jump to the other then the other as they slide up and down. They then landed on top of the building with a glass floor below them as the robots jumps down and was about to shoot them when Y/N brought out her Burning Wispon and blast them with fire as they all exploded at the same time. They then jumped to the next building and destroyed a few more robots while heading to the next building before jumping off to the red pipe as they slide once more.

"How's the battle going?" Sonic asked.

"We've got them on the ropes!" Amy replied over the radio. "If our fleet can keep the upper hand, we should have things under control soon."

"You're gonna miss out on the fun if you don't hurry, Sonic." Rouge spoke.

After landing on another building and destroying robots, Sonic and Y/N jumped up high over to the red pipe as they slide up to another building. They jump onto the flying robots to use them to boost themselves up while destroying and landed onto the next pipe and jumping to the other as they slide around the building. They are now close to where Eggman and Infinite are as they kept on going until they made it.

Eggman, Orbot, Cubot, and Infinite are overlooking the Eggman Fleet. Orbot sighs in boredom. Sonic and Y/N then arrive, having escaped null space. Orbot notices the duo and begins tapping Eggman's shoulder to get his attention.

"Excuse me? Boss."

Eggman finally glances over his shoulder and spots Sonic and Y/N out of the corner of his eye, causing him to wheel around to face them in absolute shock. He knocks Orbot away in disbelief.

"What!? It can't be! It's impossible to get out of the Phantom Ruby's null space!"

Infinite looks at Sonic and Y/N with an annoyed grunt, blushing a little at Y/N, feeling glad that she's okay.

"Maybe by myself, but I had a little help from my friend. Something you wouldn't understand, since you don't have any friends!" Sonic glared.

"Grr... This changes nothing! Dr. Eggman will still have the last laugh!"

Eggman flies away in the Egg Mobile. Infinite follows the doctor while Orbot and Cubot straggle along, but only after Orbot notices Cubot looking at Sonic and Y/N, and whacks him upside the head to tell him to follow the others.

"Maybe he'd have more friends if he didn't talk about himself in the third person."

"Yep."

Y/N gives a thumbs up, which Sonic nods in response to. Suddenly, they heard a beep coming from their friends as Y/N responds.

"We've got less than an hour before Eggman's plan goes down." Knuckles said over the radio.

"There's no more time." Shadow spoke. "We have to break into the fortress now."

"Indeed, this is it-- our last opportunity to bring peace back into the world." Silver spoke.

"But... when the battle ends, we'll have to part with Sonic-- I mean, this Sonic-- won't we?" Tails asked, gesturing to Classic Sonic.

"Yes, if the Phantom Ruby is gone, I guess he'll be returned to his dimension." Amy spoke.

"Thank you for everything, Sonic. I'll never forget what you did for us." Tails spoke.

"Save the sentiments for later. This is not over yet. We still have a battle to fight." Espio spoke.

"Exactly. This is our last chance. Give it everything you've got!" Knuckles spoke before the radio was turned off.

"Sounds like we need to hurry." Y/N said.

"Let's go, sis!" Sonic smiled and they run off.

On the cloudy day at Eggman Empire Fortress. The Resistance is facing the oncoming opposition from the Eggman Army. Knuckles and Sonic nod at each other. Knuckles then turns around and raises his arm. A large group, possibly a battalion of Resistance infantry at least, stand behind him, Sonic, and all their friends.

"Let's go!"

The Resistance charges forward, yelling and shouting, and begins fighting their way through the army. Gunfire flies everywhere as the Resistance troops unleash various Wispon firepower on the approaching replicas. Knuckles knocks out a Zavok replica.

"Take this!"

Shadow knocks out a number of replicas, Silver psycho-kinetically immobilizes three replicas, which the Chaotix members knock out shortly afterwards, Amy smashes a Metal Sonic replica with her Piko Piko Hammer, and Rouge kicks out some more immobilized replicas while airborne. The Resistance charges forward, easily tearing through the replicas as they advance. At the end of the first wave is Infinite, flying and looking onwards at the approaching rabble. Sonic rushes towards Infinite quickly.

"Hey, Infinite! Long time no see! Did you miss me?"

As Infinite speaks, Sonic is joined by rest of his friends to confront Infinite together.

"Why yes, I did. I've been looking forward to finishing you and your annoying friends."

Infinite unleashes a powerful wave of energy, knocking back the Resistance.

"I trust you're all ready for oblivion? If you're not... oh well."

Infinite is suddenly shot at, and manages to deflect some of the shots. Omega drops down from the air, appearing before everyone, fully repaired and operational.

"What!? Who dares!?"

"Target reconfirmed. Extermination mode initiated. Payback INEVITABLE." Omega said.

"Omega! You've joined us!? Awesome!" Rouge said in joy.

"Is there no end to these annoying insects? I will burn your resistance to ashes, and you along with it!"

With a furious shout, Infinite shoots a beam up into the sky, creating a replica of the sun with his Phantom Ruby prototype, to everyone's shock and disbelief.

"Whoa, you've got to be kidding. That's just a special effect, right?" Knuckles asked.

"No, it's not! While we're under the Phantom Ruby's control, it's a part of our reality!" Tails exclaimed.

"Unbelievable! What chance do we have against that?" Espio asked.

Dr. Eggman comes by in his Egg Mobile.

"The sun will fall upon you all. BOOM! THE END! Your pathetic lives are over."

Eggman grins viciously. Y/N is overlooking the battlefield in worry and fear Tails flies in beside her. Y/N's Phantom Ruby prototype in her hand begins to react.

"Look. It's reacting. Eggman said something about the Phantom Ruby prototypes. Let me see."

"Sure. Here."

Y/N gives Tails the prototype. The prototype stops reacting.

"Whoa, it is."

He gives the prototype back to her.

"He said that the Phantom Ruby prototypes only react to the person who has activated it. That must be you, Y/N! Your courage and heroism are probably what triggered it. Just maybe, if you use this, it can make that sun disappear."

Y/N looks downward at the prototype and then onwards again towards the sun, remembering Gadget's words.

"I'll do my best, Tails."

Infinite hovers above the Resistance menacingly thanks to the glow cast upon him by his virtual sun.

"Make peace with your fate, because your lives are now over!"

Y/N's Phantom Ruby prototype reacts again, and she tightens her grip on it as a look of fresh confidence scowls on her face as she make up her mind to stop Infinite. Infinite flies away, while Eggman cackles madly as he prepares to watch Sonic's friends perish and seize ultimate victory.

"Mwa-hahaha! Three..."

Y/N heads towards the sun as she's on top of the building after many attempts of getting to the top while also destroy a few robots and trying not to die from the giant blue beam that attempt to burn her.

"...two, one, zero!"

Y/N dashes into the sun, prototype in hand. Tails watches while flying.

"Y/N?"

The Resistance watches in breathless anticipation. After several seconds, the sun is seen getting closer and closer, before it disappears from the sky completely, with only a red beam falling from it. The Resistance cheers at having been saved from total annihilation.

"The sun! It's gone!" Knuckles gasped.

"Wh-What? What just happened!?"

Dr. Eggman sees the red beam falling from the sky and follows it to investigate what ruined his near victory. Shadow smirks. The red beam is actually Y/N with the Phantom Ruby prototype. Upon landing with her grappling hook, the prototype breaks and dissolves, and Y/N collapses to the ground, visibly weakened from the effort. Eggman arrives and is in total flabbergasted disbelief when he discovers what happened. He points at her.

"Impossible! I thought all the prototypes were destroyed!"

Tails flies beside Y/N to pick her up as Y/N groans weakly.

"A costly oversight, Doctor. That's why I always check and double check as any good scientist would."

Back to the battlefield. Knuckles turned to the Resistance.

"This is the turning point, guys! Time to press our advantage and kick major butt!"

The Resistance forces cheer in agreement.
