Vampire!King!Shadow X Wounded!Reader - @sonicdragonfan
The (a/t) was panting as she ran through the dark forest, holding her bleeding arm tightly. The trees bent and moved around her, as if reaching for the terrified girl as she stumbled through bushes and over logs. The night air was cool on her face, but she hardly noticed. The moon was the only thing lighting her way, but then it was blocked by a mysterious shadow.
"Stop her! Don't let her get away!" A gruff voice yelled, and a large rock landed in front of the (a/t).
She yelped, skidding to a halt and looking around. Leaves and bushes rattled, twigs snapping all around her. She was trapped, there was no way out. They got her. A soft breeze moved a few leaves across the ground, skimming over someone's shoes. Black shoes, torn and tattered. A poor man's shoe.
"That pelt is as good as mine..." The human growled, a smirk pulling across his face, splitting a scar in two. The human held up a net, "Now be a good little (a/t) and don't try to run anymore..."
"N-No!" The shaking Mobian cried, stepping back against the rock, "I won't l-let you take me! I'll destroy my fur before you can lay a finger on it!"
She pulled out a small blade, holding it to her own neck and the human bellowed, a deep throaty laugh filling the empty forest.
"You think cutting your own throat will save you? You'd have to do more than that luv. Besides..." His dark eyes stared at the girl, amusement swimming in them, "You don't have the guts."
The (a/t) let out a whimper, tightening her hold on the blade. But her hands shook, she knew he was right. There was no way she could bring herself to do it, no way she could stop them from taking her, killing her for her pelt.
It was a beautiful pelt, a gorgeous (f/c) that shone in the moonlight, the rarest colour seen in her kind. It made the (a/t) the most wanted creature to both the humans and Mobians, for a multitude of reasons. Money for her fur, a mate to breed the most beautiful babies, a trophy to show off, bragging rights to such a stunning specimen.
The (a/t) didn't really mind it, in fact she was flattered by the other Mobians that tried to woo her. It made her feel special, even if it was only for her looks. Her confidence was boosted every time someone stared at her. Though she tried not to let it go to her head.
The humans on the other hand... She did mind. They wanted her fur for other reasons, and they all resulted in pain and death. It was the worst thing about her situation.
And here she was now, surrounded by a bunch of blood-thirsty, money-hungry humans, all staring at her as if they had the '$' in their eyes, drooling at the thought of her price. There was lust in their eyes, but not the sinful kind.
Although... Greed is still a sin...
"What are we going to do with her?" One human asked, rubbing his hands together. He had a long nose, one that the (a/t) wouldn't hesitate to punch if he got closer, even if her arm was throbbing in pain. The assholes had already cut her with another rock they had thrown earlier, the bleeding had soaked her fur, but apparently it wasn't enough to deter them.
"We're going to take her back to my workshop, and skin her alive for all the problems she caused." The other with the net said, his smirk turning to an evil, sadistic smile.
The (a/t)'s eyes widened, and she scrambled over the rock that was in her way.
-NOPE- She thought, jumping down the other side and taking off. The girl held her arm once again as she disappeared into the trees, shouting coming from behind her, slowly getting further and further away.
It felt like forever, but she kept running, deeper into the forest, further away from the cruel humans, from her home. Hopefully, this was a one-time thing. It was rare for humans to hunt Mobians, they're meant to have a treaty; though the (a/t) supposed they had some sort of illegal trade or organisation that ignored that. If that was the case she wouldn't be surprised, but now she'd be on their wanted list, and there was no way she could go back to town, they'd catch her immediately.
No, there was no way she could go back. So where to now?
The girl raised her head, glancing around the place. The moon was long gone, hiding behind the trees as the (a/t) had planned for herself. Stupid moon stealing her ideas. Thankfully, being a Mobian meant excellent night vision.
Finally, the chilled breeze snuck through her luscious fur and the (a/t) started to shiver, holding her arms across her chest. The wound started to throb, and she bit her lip; it had stopped bleeding, but it still hurt, and she was glad she hadn't hurt herself anymore. She would have lost the energy to run a long time ago.
In fact, her energy was depleting now; the adrenaline in her system wearing down. The girl slumped against a thick trunk, sitting on the ground with a small groan. Gods she hoped the humans weren't following her still. She felt too tired to move, too dizzy. How much blood had she lost anyway? She hadn't been paying attention; but surely it wasn't a lot, right? It was a measly cut.
A bush rustled beside her, and the (a/t) jumped, her ears pinned back at the thought of a human having chased her all the way out here. There was no way anyone would hear her scream if she were attacked. There was no way she could escape now.
She watched the bush cautiously, waiting, wondering, what comes next?
A small rabbit jumped out, it's pure white fur almost glowing in the darkness. The bunny glanced around, freezing when it saw the (a/t); it's little pink nose twitching in fear. The (a/t) could only smile at the precious thing, so innocent an unaware of the people in this world.
"Hop along now little one..." She mumbled, leaning her head on the trunk but watching the smaller animal, "Your pelt will surely be targeted..."
The rabbit's large fluffy ears perked, twitched, and it started bouncing off away from the girl, moving quickly, as if it was out of time. The (a/t) smiled to herself, wishing she could be as ignorant as the rabbit. Though also relating to it. It was prey in this world, always terrified, always alert, hunted for its fur or meat.
It stopped just outside another bush, once again looking around, back towards the (a/t), and she couldn't help but wonder what it was thinking, what could possibly be going on inside its tiny head. A pang of fear went through her chest and she glanced around, was this rabbit about to be hunted? She didn't want to see such a pure creature die.
The bunny chatted it's teeth, nibbling on some grass, before it jumped into the bush; disappearing from sight forever, and the (a/t) had to let out a sigh of relief. No more blood will be spilt tonight.
A twig snapped.
The (a/t)'s ears perked instantly, and she jumped again, this time to her feet. She held her arm and growled defensively, surprising herself with the energy she felt. No, she was not ready to be hunted, not tonight. If that bunny gets to live, then so does she.
"Who's there?" She asked aloud, "Speak, or show yourself. Let's get this over with already."
The stalker did not speak, nor did they come forward; instead, the (a/t) heard someone rushing behind her, and she turned. Only to face a tree. She frowned to herself, before turning her back to the trunk once again.
And coming face-to-face with glowing red eyes.
The (a/t) screamed, jumping back and hitting her head on the tree trunk, yelping and holding it in pain. The hedgehog that stood in front of her only watched in silence, his gaze was hard, like a glare. He was glaring at her. This was an unexpected reaction. The (a/t) was use to glares from other female Mobians, but never the males. What was this guy's problem?
She blinked, staring at his glowing crimson eyes. They were so... Captivating...
"You're hurt." He said, his throat sounded dry, husky, was he dehydrated? "Who did this to such an exquisite flower?"
"Wh-What..?" The (a/t) was confused, before she saw his eyes dart to her arm. The girl could have sworn she saw fangs poke through his lips, but he moved his head quickly, searching the area; for what?
"We're not safe here. They're still after you." He said, his ears twitching, "Human's huh? Disgusting monsters..."
The (a/t) blinked again. She was lost, who was this guy, and where did he come from? Why is he out here in the middle of nowhere, and why were his eyes glowing?
"My apologies." He said, as if reading her mind. The hedgehog took a step back from her, into the only light the moon was able to shine through the leaves. The hedgehog was... Oh my...
He had midnight black fur, red-furred stipes lined his arms and his quills, outlined the top of his eyes. There was a patch of white fur on his chest as well. It all held a soft shine in the moonlight, similar to the way hers did, and she knew his pelt was something to be treasured. He had a tan muzzle, and the (a/t) had been right about seeing fangs, they had grown now and stuck out under his top lip.
That's when she noticed the cape draped around his shoulders, and his hands which were gloved. His bottom half was shrouded in darkness, and the (a/t) shook her head. This hedgehog was gorgeous, and to think he hadn't even tried to woo her yet.
"My name is Shadow, Shadow the Hedgehog." He said with a bow, holding the cape to a side, "I live not far from here. I suggest you come with me; you can hide in my home. The humans will not find you there."
"U-Uh..." The girl was speechless, what could she say?
"You must be in shock, it's no surprise. The humans can be terrible creatures." The hedgehog said, "If you'd like, I can get rid of them. And then I can tend to your wound."
"H-How did...?"
"I could smell your blood from my home." He said, his glowing eyes captivating you again, he stared once again, "Do not worry, I don't feed off my own kind."
"F-Feed...?"
"It will make sense once the shock goes away." He said, before turning his back to me. His cape blew slightly with his movements, before setting on his back quills, "Do not move, I will be but a moment."
And with that he was gone.
The (a/t)'s legs were shaking. Who was that? What was that? The fangs, smelling your blood, the cape, feeding...? It clicked, and the girl's eyes widened. Had she really just spoken to a vampire?! She would freak out, if not for his kind words, his words of reassurance, he would not feed off her. But would he still hurt her? No, no, he said he would look after your wound. But... Then what?
-Oh stop it- The (a/t) hugged her arms, -He offered for you to stay at his home. He's clearly got no bad intentions-
Unless it was a mask.
The hedgehog appeared in front of the (a/t), making her stumble back once again. He held the cape up to his lips, as if he was wiping something from them, the fangs still showing though now stained red, "Well that got rid of two problems tonight."
"D-Did you..."
"I didn't kill them, I just threatened them and fed of one, as a warning to stay away." He said, the cape falling behind him, "Now let me see that wound, it could already be infected."
The girl nodded slowly, lifting her arm towards the vampire. He, Shadow, gently held it in his grasp, and the (a/t) cannot help but feel surprised at the warmth that radiated from his gloved hands. He leant down to the wound, eyes closed as he inhaled the scent of the other's blood, before pulling away,
"It will be fine." He said, once again wiping his mouth, "Though we should dress it. Do you mind if I carry you to my home? It will be much faster if I do."
"U-Uh... Sure...?" The girl tilted her head, before the vampire hedgehog swept her off her feet and took off into the forest.
She yelped, tucking her head under the other's muzzle, protecting her face from the wind. It was cold, but the hedgehog's body was so warm... A second later, and the two had stopped. The (a/t) glanced up and her (e/c) eyes widened in awe.
They stood in front of a tall castle, it's grey brick looking aged by time, dark green vines crawling up the sides of the old building. It's darker black rooftop looked damaged by weather, but otherwise sturdy, and the entire compound was surrounded by a large wrought iron fence that stood three times as high as they did. It was marvellous, it was mysterious.
"Forgive me, but I was not expecting guests." Shadow said, taking the girl inside. The building was so elegant. Plush red carpets covered the floors, disappearing down hallways, golden candle sticks sat inside crevasses in the walls, golden chandeliers hung from the roof. The staircase was lined with gold, the steps made of marble. The entire floor was made of a black and white marble, the parts that weren't covered by carpet anywa.
"I-It's alright..." The girl said, breathless.
"Let's go to the west wing, that's where I keep my first aid supplies."
The two were there in seconds.
"You're... So fast."
"So are the powers of a vampire." Shadow said, looking around now much smaller room. Finally, he found some old gauze. He frowned to himself, rubbing his muzzle, before turning to the (a/t), "Hmm... Let's not worry about wrapping the wound..."
"But... What if it gets infected?"
"I will not allow that." He took her arm gently, leaning his face down once again. This time, however, his tongue slipped out and ran over the wound. The (a/t) flinched in pain, but watched, mesmerised, as the wound started to close, heal.
"How did you do that?" She asked as he pulled away, "You healed it!"
"So are the powers of a vampire." The hedgehog repeated, "Now, lets get you some food, and then it's off to bed with you. You must be exhausted."
Once you were fed, the hedgehog led you to a room. The hallways were long, the castle a giant maze, and the (a/t) couldn't help but feel... Lonely. There was so much space and hardly a soul, no souls in fact. It was just the two of them. She wondered if Shadow lived here all by himself.
The hedgehog glanced at her, his red eyes no longer glowing, though they could have fooled the (a/t), "I am not alone here." He said, "I have staff, and I have a few other weary travellers and runaways like you, sleeping in these rooms. It's late, so of course they are not out now. But I am not alone here."
"But... Surely you must be, if you sleep during the day and them at night, you must never see them." The girl said, her ears drooping, "It still sounds lonely."
The hedgehog offered a small smile, "You have a big heart. You care for my loneliness even though you only just met me."
"I cared about a rabbit that ran past me." The (a/t) chuckled awkwardly, rubbing her head, "I just... Care I guess."
"That's alright. Big hearts are good." Shadow nodded, "I do see my guests, usually once I wake up. They don't go to sleep as soon as the sun set you know."
"That's true... Why did you help them? Why did... You help me?" The girl asked next.
"Because I strive to be what a vampire is not. All those ghost stories of murderous monsters that drain you of blood. The cruel demons that show no mercy... I am not that." He stopped outside a room, his eyes glazed as if staring back into another time, "I am a king... I am meant to serve and help people. So I do."
"You're a king?!" The (a/t) covered her mouth, "I-I'm sorry... I didn't know."
"It's quite alright." The hedgehog chuckled lightly, showing off his fangs, "I wish to not dwell on it. I am grateful for my servants that look after my castle, and the respect my other vampire friends give me, but that is all it is to me, a title."
"I see..."
"This is your room." He nodded to the large red door behind the other, "I hope you find it comfortable, and I hope to see you again, perhaps when I wake up?"
"Alright, I like the sound of that." The girl smiled, giving him a small bow, "Thank you so much... You don't know what your kindness means to me... All my life I've... Just been an object, to everyone. But you're the first to not treat me like an award... You've treated me like a living being."
"Greed does that to people." The vampire nodded, before taking the other's hand and kneeling, "But please do not let their antics get to you. You are gorgeous yes, but you are worth more than they could ever dream. You're priceless."
The (a/t)'s cheeks warmed, and she couldn't stop the smile spreading on her muzzle, "Th-Thank you..."
"I never did catch you name by the way; may I ask what it is?"
"O-Oh! Right, my name is (Y/N)."
"(Y/N)... Such a... Graceful name..." He smiled and gently kissed the (a/t)'s hand, "But it was no problem for me. It was a pleasure offering my services. Feel free to stay as long as you need (Y/N), forever if that's your choice."
"I-I will..." The girl stuttered, her muzzle was a dark red now, "Thank you, your highness."
"I really do prefer Shadow." He stood, before bowing and walking away, "Sleep well (Y/N)."
The way her name rolled off his tongue. The (a/t) was frozen in the doorway. She had never been as speechless as she was right now. The hedgehog glanced back as he walked around the corner, giving the girl a wink, and she near fainted as he disappeared.
