It was the biggest battle Mobius has ever seen. Cities had been destroyed, people had been killed. It was a very dark time. The heroes of Mobius had no chance to win, it was that obvious. But.. How did it get so bad?

(Y/N), a (f/c) (a/t), had decided she was tired of sitting on the side lines, and wanted to see just how much power she had. She wanted to test her own strength against the heroes, just out of pure boredom. And the current state of the world had her... Very pleased.

The (a/t) looked around at her own destruction, and she chuckled to herself. Some Mobians were running off the streets as she walked past, cowering in fear. She was more terrifying than the late Infinite. What an easy opponent he was, she crushed that jackal like an ant.

Now you'd think that would be a good thing, but she was able to take his abilities. Anyone she killed, she could take their abilities. Such a strong power, such a dangerous power. Such a... Painful power...

Taking on other's abilities has proven difficult, in which the (a/t) tries not to do it often. Instead, she chooses her victims carefully, as taking on too much could destroy her. She only wants the best of the best. Having the ability to manipulate reality has already proven dangerous, and she loves it.

Of course, she has her eyes on quiet a few other powers. The futuristic hedgehog has some very powerful abilities, and the ultimate lifeform has his own story.

But the one power she wants, the one ability she craves.

Is speed.

And the only one that could give her what she wanted.

Was Sonic the Hedgehog, the Blue Blur, the Fastest Thing Alive, the Hero of Mobius.

He was as fast as the speed of sound, even faster than that. And (Y/N) wanted that power, all to herself. But she had yet to face him, he had stayed hidden during her destruction, which was curious, since he was always the first to act.

She chuckled to herself, maybe he was afraid, and that pleased her greatly.

Or... Maybe it was something else...

She growled to herself, shaking her head. The (a/t) thought she had gotten rid of those memories, but still they haunted her.

Maybe that's why he wasn't here, because he knew who she was, and he couldn't bear to face her.

Typical.

But hilarious, the thought of Sonic being scared by the past amused (Y/N) more than she thought it would. And now she is openly searching for him. She flew through many cities, many different jungles, ruins, and yet she could not find Sonic.

The (a/t) growled to herself, before taking a deep breath, to bring the rat out... You need a trap. (Y/N) chuckled to herself, before flying off, she knew exactly what she was going to do.

~LATER~

The workshop was a mess, everything had been destroyed, the mess of metal scraps and electrical wires was enough to show the cowering fox that he was useless against his opponent.

"You won't get away with this!" The yellow fox trembled below the evil (a/t), his twin tails tucked and ears pressed back, yet he still dared to growl, "Sonic will stop you!"

"I'm counting on it..." (Y/N) smiled evilly, picking up the young kitsune, "I trust he'll want to save you the most. You're his brother yes?"

The fox was quiet, he didn't want to answer, if this evil Mobian knew, she'd use him against Sonic. It had happened before, he refused to let it happen again. But (Y/N) knew, she already knew, he doesn't remember her, but she remembers the yellow genius very well.

She was glad she hadn't forgotten her memories so easily. They have... Given her an answer.

(Y/N) took the young fox, flying back to her own home, her HQ. A tall tower in Station Square, iconic really, it was. She made sure to be very iconic. Once she got to her office, she threw the kitsune into a cage, locking it. Once she had done that, she walked to her desk and pulled out a gun. Such a small weapon now compared to her power but... Necessary.

With a flick of her wrist, a live feed took over Mobius, and she smiled evilly into her makeshift camera.

"Sonic the Hedgehog." She stated, wrapping her arms behind her back, "I believe... I have something of yours."

She motioned the camera to the cage, where the young fox growled, even though he shook.

"And... I believe you have something I want." The portal-like camera turned back to the (a/t), "But it's not what you think. Come alone, bring nothing but yourself. If you bring anyone else, or anything like the Chaos Emeralds... I will kill your little fox friend."

Her smile widened, a crazed look flashed through her eyes, "Having an IQ of 300 does sound promising... So, do hurry. If I don't get what I want straight away, I will settle for less. Well, less to me. Meet me in Station Square. And don't be late."

The (a/t) waved her hand away, and the broadcast stopped.

"Sonic won't fall for it!" The yellow kitsune stated, "He's too smart for that!"

"He may be smart, but everyone has a weakness." (Y/N) chuckled, "His is so... Predictable. He would hate to see his brother be killed, simply because he didn't show up."

"What do you want from him anyway?" The fox asked, hostile, but unable to do anything.

"His power." The (a/t) clenched her fist, "His speed. And do you know how I will get it?"

He stayed quiet, blue eyes shiny, "How...?"

"I'll explain it very quickly Tails." The fox blinked, how did she know his name? "If I kill someone, I am able to... Acquire... Their abilities. How do you think I have the powers of the Phantom Ruby?"

"Infinite..." His eyes widened, "You can't kill Sonic!"

"Just watch me." The (a/t) walked to the window of the building, staring down at the street, "After what he did... It's the least I could do."

"What did he do...?"

The villain growled, glaring at him, "That's none of your business."

The fox went quiet, he wanted to know but he can't force anyone to talk from a cage. The (a/t) stayed by the window, watching below her. Once she saw the blue blur running towards the centre of Station Square, a smirk spread over her muzzle.

"He's here." She stated, watching him stop and look around. Strange, from here he looks almost... Mad... A different side to Sonic for sure.

Tails' ears perked, and he watched in horror as (Y/N) stepped back, before running out of the building, shattering the windows behind her, and fell to the ground.

The (a/t) fell gracefully, stopping a few feet above the blue hedgehog, who glared up at her.

"Where's Tails?!" He yelled. This was definitely not the hedgehog she remembered.

"Why so mad?" She asked, smiling evilly at him, "Aren't you glad to see an old friend? Hm?"

"Not when they are threatening to kill my real friends." He stated, standing in a fighting stance.

The (a/t) frowned, "Real friends...? So I'm not real enough for you now?"

She waved her hand, sending the rubble of the destroyed city towards the hedgehog. He was quick to dodge, jumping out of the way of the tiny shrapnel. The (a/t) growled, before creating a giant block of power and throwing it at him. He dodged again.

This was going to be harder than she realised.

"What do you want anyway..?" He asked, staring at her, "You told me not to bring the Chaos Emeralds, so what could you possibly want?"

She chuckled slightly, before flying right in front of him. She grabbed him around the neck and lifted him up,

"You always drop your guard when you talk... What a horrible flaw for a fighter to have..."

The hedgehog gasped, grabbing her arms and kicking his feet. Without his speed he's just a normal Mobian. A little bit stronger but, rendered useless.

"You ask what I want, trying to figure out my plan and stop me hm? Well, I'm not Eggman. You can't just stop me when it's already working..." The (a/t) gripped tighter, and the hedgehog let out a strangled gasp, "But since it's nearly over... I want your power, your speed... And you know how I have to get that, don't you?"

He struggled to look at her, but his widened eyes told her he knew exactly what she planned to do. Still, she held his throat, waiting for him to pass out. He struggled for a bit, but slowly, even though he fought it, his eyes started to close.

Just before they could, the (a/t) threw him into another building, making it collapse on top of him. The rubble buried him, and (Y/N) sighed,

"Boy, finding a hedgehog in the rubble is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack... What a waste of time." She rubbed her head, before her ears perked. She could hear a spindash.

And just like that, the blue blur flew out of the rubble, straight for her. A light shone in her eyes and she caught him by the leg, stopping him in the air. The hedgehog blinked, panting slightly.

"How did...?"

"Surely you remember." She smiled at him, "It's the reason you abandoned me after all. I took that perfect aim, with it comes with precision, I'm able to catch anything in range."

The hedgehog growled, "You did take that perfect aim... And the life of an innocent kid!"

He swung his other leg around, connecting it with (Y/N)'s head. She yelped and dropped him, Sonic landed on his feet, glaring up at her, "You had no reason to kill that kid, but you did anyway. I cannot associate myself with anyone like that, with the likes of you."

The (a/t) yelled, flying at him again and punching him in the gut. The force made him double over as he flew into a fountain. She glared down at him, growling.

"I didn't mean to do that and you know it!" She yelled, "That was the day I realised what I could do, and that scared you away! How could you be friends with a murderer who didn't know?!"

The hedgehog groaned, struggling to get back onto his feet. He wiped his cheek, spitting out blood as he turned to her,

"You chose your path, and I chose mine. Sorry they were so different... If I knew this was going to happen... I would have stopped you sooner..."

"But you didn't need to!" The (a/t) sent a blast of energy his way, and he ran in the other direction. She saw this and shot another blast, trimming the side of his quills, "You didn't even stay long enough to know my choice!"

He growled and jumped over the energy beam, landing on top of the fountain. He looked up at the enraged (a/t), "I've seen enough to guess..."

"We were such good friends." (Y/N) stated, doing her best to calm down, in fact she did, she stared down at the blue hedgehog with distaste, "I needed you there when I killed that kid. I... Didn't mean to, and it gave me nightmares for such a long time. I tried reaching out to you, but you cut off all ties with me the moment the body was taken away."

"I watched you on the news for so long. I had locked myself away, I didn't want to do it again, I wanted to be good. But as I watched you save the world, repeatedly defeating anything you didn't agree with, I knew I would be a target eventually. I needed my friend that day, that month. But no, you didn't like my powers, so you left. You didn't even think to check on me, you didn't think that maybe I didn't want to choose this path... But now..."

Tears ran down the (a/t)'s muzzle as she started to laugh, "How ironic! You thinking I would choose this path, led me to it! Had you stayed, we could have found an answer, but no, you were certain I'd turn out like this.. How does it feel to know you are the reason?"

Sonic watched her, doing his best to stay in a fighting stance. (Y/N)'s body started to shake as she laughed, the sound was strained, as if it caused her pain, and the hedgehog wasn't ready for the blast of energy that hit him square in the chest.

He cried out as he flew back, skidding through the road. He came to a stop a few blocks away, hardly able to move. The (a/t) flew over to him, the tears still sliding down her cheeks,

"How does it feel Sonic, to know that you're about to die, because you were too scared, too selfish to help me..."

The hedgehog groaned, trying to keep his eyes open. The pain was a throbbing nightmare, and he wondered how he'd get out of this alive. If that was even an option now.

"How does it feel to know you led me down this path? You terrified me, made me want to be stronger for the day this finally happened, made me prepare myself. The people I killed... It got easier to take their powers you know, just thinking that I could be killed was enough for me to kill. How does that make you feel?"

Hey My Little Mobains! Soooo, I loved writing this so much that I couldn't choose an ending :3 So ima write both of them. When? No idea XD But I will, it's just so much fun. I love it, and I hope you did too. Anyway, enjoy the cliffhanger!
