Today was the big day.

The sky was clear, a nice light blue against the rolling green hills of the land. A light breeze blew across the ground, stirring the grass and lower branches of a weeping willow tree. An archway had been set up under the tree, covered in white roses and tangled with the hanging leaves, leaving an opening for people to gaze upon.

White fold out chairs had been set up in front of the silver arch, enough for a select few people to sit on before the ceremony began.

The priest arrived, setting up his belongings to bestow the event, grateful for the peaceful weather. The only other person there currently was Shadow the Hedgehog.

One of the more important people for this event.

He was helping with the finishing touches, making sure the priest had what he needed. Once people started to arrive, he welcomed them, offering a sort of kindness no one had really seen before.

He was excited, in fact, the hedgehog had never been this excited before. But why was he so enthusiastic about this big event?

Because by the end of the day, he'll be legally connected with the love of his life. (Y/N) the (a/t).

It was very unexpected, from pretty much everyone. No one knew they would go so far into a relationship. Shadow had never been a relationship kind of Mobian, so when they had made the announcement, people were shocked.

But they were also happy. Shadow had never been so positive around them, but since that (a/t) came into his life, he's been more trusting with his friends, more open some would say.

His big ego was still there of course, but he joked more, joined more activities, and overall had opened up to his friends.

And he wasn't embarrassed to call them friends anymore.

In fact, he patted his arch rival on the back when he arrived.

"You know Shadz," Sonic started, looking around the area, "For once, you've been faster than me at something."

"That's because you aren't even in a relationship Faker." Shadow only stated, a slight smirk on his muzzle, "But it's good to finally prove I am the fastest."

"That's not what I meant!" Sonic huffed, before chuckling and shaking his head, "Good luck anyway... Faker."

The others soon arrived, Omega being the last. He was Shadow's best man, even though Sonic had protested, Shadow knew he would choose his team over anyone else.

"They are. On their way." Omega said in his robotic voice.

Everyone listening took their seats, those that weren't (mainly Sonic and Knuckles, who were already bickering a challenge to each other), gave a puzzled look, before following suit.

Shadow took a deep breath, before walking to the large arch hidden amongst the willow tree. He smiled to himself, glad he had found such a beautiful place to get married. Weeping willow trees were (Y/N)'s favourite, she was big on fantasy things and willow trees had always been cast in that light.

She had also mentioned to Shadow, years ago, how if she ever got married, she wanted it to be under a willow tree. And, unbeknownst to her, Shadow had found one of the free remaining in Mobius.

He even had to set up the rehearsal at another location, so that she didn't know about it.

Yes, this will be a beautiful surprise when she arrives.

If she arrives.

A feeling of cold dread set in Shadow's stomach, and he started to fidget. How much time had it been since Omega arrived? Were the girls really on their way? What's taking them so long?

He started tapping his foot, the silence of the watching audience suddenly felt overwhelming. What if she stood him up?

Someone stood and walked up to the nervous hedgehog, resting an arm on his arm.

"Easy Shadow..." Amy smiled slightly, "It's tradition for the bride to be late, don't worry. She'll come."

"You bet she will." Sonic chuckled from the crowd, which earnt a few chuckles from some of the guys. Shadow threw him a glare, before lowering his head.

"Thanks Amy. Go sit back down."

She nodded, and as the pink hedgehog took her seat, a black vintage Jaguar pulled up at the end of the aisle. Shadow tensed up, holding his hands in front of him and watching as the chauffeur got out of the car.

Things seemed to happen in slow motion as he opened the door, and Rouge the Bat got out of the car. She was dressed in a black dress, it had a slit down one side, and the sleeves sat just past her shoulders, resting on her upper arms. She looked back inside the car and nodded, a smile was spread over her muzzle.

Music started to play some somewhere, and the crowd stood as she walked down the aisle. Nodding to Shadow, she took her place on the opposite side of Omega, before everyone turned their attention to the car.

Slowly, a (f/c) (a/t) stepped out of the vehicle, raising her head to taking in the scenery. Her (e/c) eyes widened at the location, the weeping willow tree blew lightly in the wind, as if beckoning her to come closer.

She wore a white gown, similar to Rouge's, but much longer and no slit. It had flowers around the top of the dress, moving around the slight sweetheart neckline, before evenly spreading down the back of the dress. It was simple yet elegant as it hugged her waist, and she had never looked more beautiful.

Tears of joy filled her eyes as she took in the scenery, it was such a beautiful tree, the archway covered in roses, the sun shining through the hanging leaves. Her eyes caught onto ruby red and she cracked a wide smile, her nerves getting stronger. Could she move?

Slowly, she started walking forward, holding a bouquet of flowers, ranging from white to pinks and reds. The tension in the air was thick, but it wasn't bad. Everyone was worried something would go wrong, not that they minded, they just knew Shadow was a perfectionist and (Y/N) gets embarrassed easily.

Even still, the bride made it to the altar in one piece, no tripping or falls. So far so good. Shadow couldn't stop smiling at her, drinking her in. She was so beautiful. The (a/t) thought the same for Shadow as well, he looked adorable in his white tux, it was the first time she had seen him wear such light colours.

And so, the wedding commences. The priest said all that was need to be said, the two lovers said their vows, and finally,

"Do you, Shadow the Hedgehog, take (Y/N) to be your lawfully wedded wife?" The priest turned to the dark hedgehog.

"I do." He nodded, holding her hands in his gently.

"And do you, (Y/N) the (a/t), take Shadow to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do." She smiled, fidgeting in excitement.

"Then I pronounce you husband and wife." The priest nodded, looking at Shadow once again, "You may now kiss the bride."

Their friends cheered as Shadow pulled the (a/t) closer, before pressing his lips against hers. Their tails wagged as she held onto his suit, kissing back just as passionately. Finally, it had happened. They were united, until death do they part. Which would take a very long time, considering Shadow is immortal, and he's working on making (Y/N) the same.

Once they pulled away, everyone calmed and started heading off. Next was the reception, where everyone would get to eat, drink, tell stories and laugh at each other.

It was rather peaceful to start off with, murmured chatter kept the room buzzing with excitement. The food was served, everyone ate. And then came the first dance.

The bride and groom stood, taking the dance floor for themselves as they danced to 'All Of Me' by John Legend. The room fell quiet as the two danced slowly, waltzing around the room as if at a fancy ball.

Another surprise for everyone, Shadow knew how to dance, he also knew how to, as Sonic called it, fancy dance (but we all know it as ball/room dancing). As the song came to an end, the two slowed down, and (Y/N) rested her head on Shadow's fluffy chest.

Once the song ended, applause filled the room, and others got up to dance. After all the drinking and dancing, it was time to throw the bouquet. All the girls lined up, giggling and swaying a little to the alcohol mixed with music. (Y/N) stood in front of them and smiled, before turning and throwing it over her head.

The girls reached for it, but it sored over their heads, and landed in Sonic's lap. The hedgehog jumped, before looking down at it and tilting his head. Amy cheered and ran over, hugging the hedgehog tightly,

"I knew it would be us next!"

"Wha-? Amy!" Sonic struggled in her hold, before pouting and grumbling to himself, "We aren't even together."

The pink hedgehog ignored him, still hugging him tightly.

The party went on. Soon enough, Knuckles was sleeping on a table, Tails and Silver looked like they were plotting something to wake him up, and Shadow knew whatever it was, it would be messy. So, he quickly gathered everyone for the final speech of the night. Although it was hard to concentrate, Shadow managed to mutter three words;

"To the honeymoon!"

The guys all cheered and laughed, while (Y/N) huffed and elbowed him in the side, "Not with you that drunk."

"We still... Need to pack anyway." Shadow nodded, "I was joking."

"I know." She smiled, kissing his cheek, "But I think it's time we all went home. Espio looks like he's going to throw up."

"That's a good idea." Shadow nodded, before herding everyone up again, "You heard the bride! Time to head home and sleep off this big day."

"You won't be sleeping anything off." Sonic chuckled to himself, winking at the two, "You know what happens on honeymoons."

"We don't leave until tomorrow." The (a/t) huffed, "So none of that talk."

"Right right." Sonic raised his hands in defence, "Lets head home guys."

And with that, everyone left. The newly weds finally made their way to their apartment, both a slightly drunk mess. Both managed to get dressed and change into their pjs, falling onto the bed.

"You know..." Shadow sighed, pulling the (a/t) into a soft embrace, "You looked... Like a fairy today. An angel."

She smiled, nuzzling into his chest, "And you... You made my dream come true... I didn't think there were any weeping willows left on Mobius. It was beautiful..."

"Not as beautiful as you." The hedgehog kissed her head, "And of course I found a weeping willow, you said it yourself that it was your dream to be wed under one... I knew I had to find one."

"And you did."

"I did. Because I love you." He lifted her head, kissing her gently.

"I love you too..." (Y/N) closed her eyes, kissing back, "And... Who said the honeymoon has to start tomorrow?"
