Infinite X Captured!Reader - @S1ncerely_Me

The cell was dark and grimy, water dripped off in the distance, a continuous sound that would drive anyone crazy over time. Hardly any light seeped through the tinted window above the cell, what light did manage to sneak in was snuffed out by mould and dirt. Little critters scattered across the floor, ducking into hidey holes and cracks in the walls.

This was no place for... Well anyone. And yet someone laid in that dark and grimy cell, a (f/c) (a/t) on her side, grumbling and staring at the wall adjacent the bars.

But where was this cell she was trapped in? In one of Doctor Eggman's hidden jails. Yep, the (a/t) had been caught by one of the evil doctor's goonies and held captive while the war she was fighting for continued on without her.

The war had been going on for months, the (a/t) having joined the Resistance to fight back against Eggman and his evil allies. They had defeated Sonic and things got serious. Many people have died to this war, and the (a/t) would have accepted a death fighting on the battlefield. But no, here she was in a cell, rotting away, unable to help or die an honourable death.

A door down the hallway squeaked at it was pushed open and the (a/t) mentally rolled her eyes. Just what she wanted, another daily visit from her captor. A black jackal made his way down the long hallway, his shoes clicking on the filthy metallic flooring, and he stopped outside the cage.

"You haven't eaten your food." He said in a deep voice, the sound of the cell door being opened made the (a/t)'s ears twitch.

She didn't respond as he walked over, picking up the plate covered in stale food, and placing a new one down. The (a/t) didn't move, she stayed laying and staring at the wall. This was the only thing she could do now, since yelling and demanding to be set free didn't work. If they won't listen to her, she won't listen to them. And if not eating food meant they wouldn't get their answers, then so be it.

The black jackal watched her, letting out a huff as he stepped out of the jailcell and closed the door. He placed the older plate down on a small table across from the cell and leant against the bars,

"You really think starving yourself to death is going to accomplish anything?" His deep voice asked, and the girl closed her eyes, "We still have Sonic you know, Eggman has taken over 80% of the world. The Resistance are in hiding, we have many others locked away."

The (a/t) ignored him, she wouldn't believe his lies. There were no other living creatures in this jail block, unless every other captive had their own building of solitude, or unless they specifically isolated the (a/t), hardly a word of what he said was true. Sonic had been captured, but the Resistance hadn't given up hope, there was no possible way Eggman nearly controlled the whole world.

And there was no way they had kidnapped others, not a lot of others anyway. The (a/t) had been a fluke, the one time she wasn't on guard and this jackal managed to come in and knock her out. She couldn't remember much after that, just darkness and then being in this cold, stinky room. But to think this evil Mobian could have kidnapped others...

"Will you let them go if I tell you everything?" The (a/t) asked, feeling defeated at this point. If other lives were in danger now... She'd have to cave. And all she could hope was that the Resistance would be prepared...

The jackal's ears perked to her question, and he knelt down to her level, "You're willing to talk?"

"If it means saving the others. Yes." The (a/t) glared at him, "But I want information from you as well. Why are you helping Eggman? He's a madman."

"Alright, fair is fair." He said, opening the cell once again and stepping inside. He crouched in front of the girl again, his mask shining in the few stray beams of light, "I'm working with Eggman, because I crave the destruction of the world. I had nowhere to start, and after I infiltrated his base, he captured me and offered me a job with him. He had a plan, and I was the key to start the ignition."

"Didn't take you for the metaphorical type..." The (a/t) huffed, crossing her arms, "But something tells me you're not telling me the whole story. You're not stupid like Eggman, I can tell that much about you. What are you keeping from me?"

"I'll answer more once you give me some info." The jackal tilted his head, "Why don't we take turns? What's the Resistance's plan for stopping Eggman?"

The (a/t) bit her lip. She didn't want to tell him, but the thought of all the other Mobians in their captivity, the thought that they could all be hurt. This jackal had never said it, but she knew he was threatening their lives simply by bringing them up in conversation.

She lowered her head, taking a deep breath before telling him their plans. Explaining how they planned to break Sonic out, how they were studying Infinite to find out at much information as they could, how they got wind of the Phantom Ruby and had one themselves. The jackal nodded as he took in this information. Once she was done, he got to his feet and stepped out of the cell.

"Where are you going?" The (a/t) asked, leaping up and grabbing onto the bars.

"I'm going to relay this information to the doctor. Consider all the other captives set free." He said, grabbing the plate from the table and walking down the hallway,

"No! Wait!" The girl called, "You didn't give me anymore answers!"

"There'll be more time for that later, after this war is over." The jackal said, and the door closed behind him.

Her heart was beating in her chest as the echo of the closing door filled the room, followed by silence. What had she just done...? Tears filled her eyes, and the (a/t) fell to the ground, sobbing quietly to herself. The war was lost now, and it was all her fault.

Hours passed, it got darker in the cell. The (a/t) was still laying on the floor, she hadn't moved from her spot near the bars. She sniffed quietly, having run out of tears to cry, staring into the darkness of the empty building. She hoped everyone was alright, she hoped they would pull through.

The door squeaked opened, and it startled the (a/t). She jumped up, scattered away from the hallway until her back hit the wall. The jackal returned to standing in front of her, however this time he had something in his hands. It was a communicator. He stood in front of the cell, and before he did anything else he...

Took his mask off.

The (a/t) watched as he placed the mask on the table across from her cell, shook his head and ran his gloved hand through his long mohawk-like hair. When he turned to face her, he had piercing gold and blue eyes. She stared at him for a moment, and then he stepped into the cell.

"Since you cooperated, I decided to bring you this." He said, handing the communicator to her, "I recommend you watch this."

The girl blinked, taking the device from the jackal. He stood and leant against the bars as she powered the machine on, and a video started up immediately. It was of the leaders of the Resistance! They were all standing around a table, having a serious conversation.

"We can't know if this will work." The silver coloured hedgehog said, a hand on the table and looking worried, "It's a gamble, what if this doesn't work?"

"It has to." A red echidna said on the other side, "We didn't give her all that information for no reason."

"We have confirmed that she's been captured right?" A pink hedgehog asked, staring down at a holographic notepad, "Infinite was able to kidnap her with ease?"

"I made sure of it." The red echidna said, and the (a/t)'s heart sunk. She had been under his command when she was captured, "Infinite got a hold of her, which means he got wind that she knew everything."

"Good. I just hope she tells them everything." The pink hedgehog sighed, "That false information should trick them into making a plan, and we can blindside them."

The (a/t)'s eyes widened, the information she had... Was false...?

"I wish we could have told her this plan." The silver hedgehog said next, looking guilty, "I hope she's alright."

"Get a grip Silver, this is war." The red echidna said, "It was better she didn't know, that would make it seem all the more real. And once this fighting is over, well we can only hope Eggman hasn't turned too dark..."

The others all fell silent, before Amy smiled, "At least we got Sonic back, now we have a chance at winning."

"Yeah, Sonic's a lot more help than these rookies anyway, at least he can fight." The echidna huffed, "(Y/N) will be fine, I doubt Eggman will kill her, he'll let her go once this is all over. Now let's get back to this plan."

"Right." The others nodded, and the video stopped.

The (a/t) stared at the screen, at the frozen image of the heroes standing around the table. They all looked so determined, hopeful, happy. And yet there was a rage stirring in her stomach. They had tricked her? Lied to her? And they weren't even going to save her?

Her hands lowered, and the communicator fell to the floor. The jackal lifted his head to the clatter and walked over, picking it up.

"Where did you get that...?" She asked, feeling her body shaking.

"One of Eggman's bots had managed to sneak in, a fly on the wall quiet literally." The jackal said, sounding rather displeased, "Just so you know, Eggman didn't give me confirmation to show you this, I chose to. I hate seeing those loathsome fools use others the way they did to you. I wanted to show you the truth. The Resistance used you to fool us, and they've left you here to rot."

The girl stared at him, the words made no sense to her. She had joined the Resistance just like everyone else, so why was she the sacrifice? The (a/t) had done so much to better herself, strengthen herself, and they passed her off in a secret plan?

"They... They called you Infinite..." The girl said, and the jackal nodded.

"Yes, and they called you (Y/N)." He said, before crouching in front of her, "(Y/N), the Resistance have abandoned you, left you here to rot away, they assume Eggman will let you go, but he really planned to kill you. They sentenced you to death."

"I get that." The girl snapped at him, growling now. The tears came back to her vision. All that crying before, for nothing. She had worried about nothing.

"But I told him to reconsider." The jackal said next, sitting now, "I have a proposition for you (Y/N). Join us. You can get your revenge on them for their trickery, for their selfishness. Join us and we can win this fight."

(Y/N) was shaking now, hugging her arms. They had abandoned her, left her for dead. Infinite had shown her that information for a reason. He said so himself that Eggman didn't even allow him to, but he did anyway. And even though the (a/t) had lied -unknowingly of course-, he was still willing to keep her alive and even recruit her.

She looked him in the eyes then, wiping her muzzle, "Tell me about yourself first. What happened between you and Eggman to make you team up with him?"

Infinite stared at her, before letting out a sigh. He explained to the (a/t) how he had a clan before he joined Eggman. He told her that they had all joined, and they were loyal to him, he suited them with equipment to fight Sonic and his friends. The jackal's fists clenched as he mentioned the fight with Shadow, how the hedgehog had slaughtered his comrades before his very eyes with little remorse.

No hero would ever do that, and he was Sonic's friend. To think Sonic was friends with such a horrible person. The Resistance, Shadow, Sonic, none of them were heroes to Infinite, they were disillusioned villains that thought they were doing the right thing when really, they were dooming themselves.

The (a/t) stared at him as he finished his story, and she threw her arms around him, giving him a tight hug,

"I... I'm sorry Infinite..." She said, it was all she could think to say. His story... What had happened to her... His kindness even though he acted as a monster to the world... He was simply another Mobian who had been affected by the heroes. She felt something for him in that moment, and he hugged back, a tight hug. It was clearly something he needed.

"It's fine now. I know my comrades are looking over me, cheering me on." The jackal said, "As long as we win, I can prove they aren't the heroes they claim to be. And you can help with that now, you have a good mind, a strong one. And if you accept, I already have a plan. And I promise you it's a real one."

(Y/N) cracked a smile at him, feeling the rage in her stomach turn to determination, "Then spill the beans already, they won't know what hit them."
