One bright day in Green Hill, Sonic, Tails Eve, Knuckle, and Jazz are walking down a dirt path in the forest.

And Sonic begins his narrations, "The town of Green Hills; a nice, quiet place. Too quiet."

"This isn't the way to the library," Tails points out.

"Chao," Jazz replies with a nod.

"I swore an oath to return these sacred tomes or Maddie would be dishonored with late fees," Knuckles says, holding up some library books.

"Knuckles, I told you. They're library books, not tomes. And they just need to get return to the library before they're late and will be charged," Eve says

"This is just a detour," Sonic says.

"Another one of your short cuts," Eve replies, rolling her eyes.

And Sonic continues narrating, ""Knuckles, Tails, and Jazz didn't know something mysterious was going on at the junkyard."

"Who are you talking to?" Tails asks.

"I'm narrating! Cool heroes do it in detective movies all the time," Sonic says.

Soon, the group arrives at the junkyard.

Knuckles has a thoughtful expression and says, "I wish to narrate, too."

And begins narrating himself, "Knuckles was very handsome and strong, much stronger than Sonic."

"Tails was just excited to be included," Tails says.

But Knuckles says, "Tails' narration was weak and sad."

"Alright, I think we can skip the narrations," Eve says and giggles.

Even Jazz giggles.

Then Eve turns to Sonic, "How about you tell us the reason we're here. Since you and I know, but the rest don't"

"Alright," Sonic says.

He then shushes them and says, "We're actually on an investigation. Wade told Eve and me there had been some weird noises up here at night."

"And we're going to find out what it is," Eve says.

Knuckles moves ahead while Tails hides behind Sonic. Sonic and Eve continue forward while Tails follows anxiously looking around. The group takes cover behind some junk when they see the cause of the noise. One of Eggman's Egg Drone is covered in junk, and searching for more material to add.

The Drone Unit says, "Upgrade. Upgrade. Need to upgrade. Unit must upgrade and conquer the world.

"It's one of Robotnik's drones!" Sonic says.

"It's been upgrading itself!" Tails says, shocked.

"Chao Chao," Jazz says, frightened.

"Ha! No match for me!" Knuckles says as he emerges from cover with a triumphant expression.

But the Drone Unit detects him, "Biologicals detected."

The Unit fires a colored laser from a traffic light attachment and blasts Knuckle away, knocking him into some barrels.

Eve rushes to Knuckles, "Knuckles, are you okay."

"I think so," Knuckles answers, shaking it off.

Then notices the books have holes in them in shock, "The sacred tomes!"

"Guys, we need a plan," Sonic says, "Tails, you take up a flanking position. Knuckles-"

But Knuckles continues narrating, "Knuckles pretended he was listening, but he readied his attack."

"Are you still narrating?" Sonic asks, dumbfounded.

And Knuckles makes a break for the Unit.

Sonic calls out, "Wait!"

"Knuckles, wait!" Eve calls out

Knuckles grabs a stop sign and uses it to block the laser attack, "Time for a Knuckles Sandwich!" and tosses it away.

Knuckles jumps into the air and dives towards the Unit. Suddenly, the unit opens his refrigerator to trap Knuckles inside. Then the unit ejects the fridge with Knuckles trapped inside, sending it flying. Knuckles manages to escape and leaps out, but flies headfirst into a Green Hill sign. With the echidna out, the Unit grabs a pickup truck with his excavator arm and throws it at Sonic, Eve, Tails, and Jazz.

"Ooooh, let's go!" Sonic says as he grabs Tails by his arm and takes off at high speed.

Eve does the same to Jazz and runs off in the opposite direction.

"Let's see how fast you are!" Sonic says.

Sonic races around the junkyard with Tails in tow, dodging the traffic light lasers. Seeking cover from the lasers inside the junk pile. Sonic dashes through the metallic cavern while explosions from the lasers rattle it. The laser-blast sends them into mid air, and Tails recovers in midair.

"Oh, I'm above you!" Sonic says and spin dashes at the Unit with multiple horning attacks, "Boing! Over here! Over here! Ooooh, gotcha! Boing!"

With the final hit, Sonic knocks a component loose, and comes to a stop with it his hand.

He holds it out and says, "I hope this wasn't doing anything important!"

"Not yet," The Unit says.

Just then the component sprays Sonic's face with pink spray paint, blinding him, and causes him to drop the device.

"Ah! My eyes!" Sonic says as he rubs his eyes.

"Don't worry, Sonic! Tails to the rescue!" Tails says, and uses his device to fire a bola.

However, the Unit deflects it and wraps Sonic's legs, tripping him, "Oops."

"Doctor Robotnik programmed Unit to think for itself," Unit says.

The Unit approaches Sonic and smashes him with his excavator claw, but is deflected by Eve who is using the Master Emerald Sword to hold back the attack. Eve then uses her strength to push the Unit back and uses the sword to make a slash at the Unit, but dodges. Tails then swoops in and flies Sonic up. Jazz then flies in the air while Eve uses her powers to lift herself in the air.

Unit watches them with curiosity, "Most interesting."

"It's right under us, it's right under us!" Sonic panics.

"Your speed is no match for this unit's processing power," Unit says, and extends a fan blade.

Then use them as helicopter rotors to pursue the others.

Jazz cries out, "Chao Chao Chao!"

"It's coming at us!" Eve cries out.

With that, the others take evasive action.

Sonic panics, "Go left, go left, go left! Your left, not my left, your left!"

Just then, Unit grabs Sonic's legs and pulls them down. Eve and Jazz grab Tails to help, but he slams them all to the ground. The Unit then retracts his fan blades and raises his arms.

"Unit is victorious!" Unit says.

"Sonic, do something!" Tails says.

"I would, but somebody tied my legs together!" Sonic says, showing his tied legs.

"You can still talk," Tails says.

And Jazz nods with a, "Chao."

Unit approaches the two hedgehogs as Eve helps Sonic up. Then Unit has all its weapons aims at them.

Sonic asks, "How you're doing? Before you blow us up, can I ask you a question?"

"No one has ever asked Unit a question before. Most interesting," Unit replies.

"Just curious, why are you doing this?" Sonic asks.

"Unit's programming is to conquer the world," Unit says.

Eve rolls her eyes, "That's more like Robotnik's plans. You said you think for yourself, so what is it that you like to do?

"What does... Unit like?" Unit asks.

"Well, you got a real flare for design. Do you make custom furniture?" Sonic asks.

Then Unit says, "Truthfully, Unit's passion is... poetry." sounding bashful.

"Poetry, huh. That sounds interesting," Eve says.

"So why don't you conquer the world with poetry?" Sonic asks.

"We would love to hear one of your poems," Tails says.

"Chao Chao," Jazz replies with a nod.

"No, I couldn't possibly... It's too personal. But if you insist!" Unit says and takes out a pair of glasses.

Then he begins to read his poems as the group of friends take a seat, "It's Unit's ambition to crush all opposition."

Later in the evening, Unit continues to read his poems as the other listens.

Unit continues, "Unit: Caliphate shall fall sudden from the heaven like a weapon. Cloud. Poetic phrase number 73."

Suddenly, Knuckles flies in and smashes into Unit, and proceeds on punching the Drone repeatedly.

Tails calls out, "Don't hurt him!"

"Chao Chao!" Jazz calls out.

Sonic calls out, "Knuckles, no! Stop!"

But Knuckles continues punching it, "I cannot hear you over the sound of my mighty punches!"

Eve rushes and grabs Knuckles, "Knuckles stop! Not everything requires punching!"

"But I'm so good at punching!" Knuckles says as he stops punching.

"I know, but not everything has to be resulted from violence," Eve says.

Tails rushes to Unit and says in concern, "Poor guy. He wasn't trying to kill us anymore. He was reciting a poem." and rummages through the junk.

Tails is able to find Unit's still-functional core modules and picks it up.

As Tails picks it up, Unit says, "That poem was not my best. Thank you for the destructive criticism."

"You're okay!" Tails says in relief.

Then turns to Sonic, "Sonic, can we keep him?"

"Mmm, I don't know," Sonic says, unsure.

But Tails says, "He's not bad anymore."

"He'd be your responsibility, Tails," Sonic points out, "You gotta clean up after him and change his batteries."

Eve walks to Sonic and uses the sword to cut the ropes off Sonic's legs.

"Thanks sis," Sonic says.

"No problem," Eve says, "Come on, we should head back home."

"Sounds good to me," Sonic says and walks away.

Just then, Unit says, "My battery will last one billion years."

"I do not trust this trash bot," Knuckles says.

Soon, Unit begins to take flight,

"He's an artist now. He's okay," Tails says.

Then Unit gets up close to Knuckles' face, "Soon, Unit will master the poetic form and the world will cower. You will be the first to fall before this unit's superior prose, red meat thing." and then flies away.

"Did you hear that? It's still evil!" Knuckles angrily says.

Tails then begins to take flight. Then Sonic takes Tails' hand, and is carried in the air. Jazz flies sooner.

And Knuckles raises his fist up, "I demand justice for Maddie's books! Wait there!"

Eve laughs and says, "Come on Knuckles, let's get going. We need to explain to Maddie about what happens to the books."

Eve then takes flight with her powers. Knuckles simply smile with a sigh and follow the others.

And of course, Sonic narrates, "And thus ends one adventure for Team Sonic. But their greatest adventure was just beginning. The quest of picking up some chili dogs on the way home!"

"Enough with the narrations," Eve says, annoyed.

"Chao Chao," Jazz agrees.
