On a dark and stormy night, on a small island in the middle of Tokyo Bay, Japan, is a palace known as Prison Island. A place where G.U.N have their important tech, and keep guard of dangerous prisoners.

Inside the prison, a guard arrives at his workstation when he notices his fellow eating donuts.

The Prison Guard is overjoyed, "Oh, yes! You got donuts."

"I already ate all the Boston cream," The other Prison Guard says as he eats a donut.

The first guard turns to the other in annoyance, "Kyle!"

The guard soon looks at a containment tank in the room. Inside the tank is a black and red hedgehog that has a strong resemblance to Eve, but distinct differences. That hedgehog is Shadow.

"This place gives me the creeps," The guard says.

Then Kyle says, "Relax. That popsicle hasn't moved in fifty years."

The hedgehog, Shadow, floats in the containment tank, almost like he's asleep.

He begins having a flashback of a young blonde girl, around twelve years old, playing a song called Live and Learn on her guitar.

A second flashback shows her and Shadow staring at the night sky as they hold each other's hands.

Another flashback shows a smaller black and red hedgehog with dreadlocks, and wears a dress walking over and presents a flower to Shadow. Shadow smiles and takes the flower. That little hedgehog is Eve as a little girl, around the same age as Sonic when he first came to Earth.

Then the little hedgehog sits on the other girl's lap and begins to feel sleepy. Shadow places his hand on her head as he comforts her to sleep.

Another flashback shows the little hedgehog hugging the blonde girl. Then the blonde girl removes her blue head back and places it on Eve's head for her to wear. Eve is very pleased and hugs the blonde girl. Shadow smiles to see Eve looking very happy. Then a female Echidna, Tikal, walks over and places a necklace around Eve's neck.

However, the next flashback is very unpleasant compared to the others. It shows them and an old scientist, and a female Echidna running as G.U.N soldiers chase after them. The girl and Shadow hold each other's hand as Shadow holds little Eve in her arms, looking very scared. Then, the girl's hand slips out of Shadow's grip as the female Echidna gets in front of them, almost like she's blocking something in front of them.

Remembering this causes Shadow to start moving.

And then another unpleasant memory appears, showing little Eve being placed in a containment tank. She cries, screaming, and bangs in fear wanting out, but is refused exit. Just then, something appears behind the tank and pulls it away with Eve trapped inside.

The creature's life vitals start beeping and the two notice.

Prison Guard is the first to take notice, "Is that normal?"

No..." Kyle answers.

He then slides his seat to the console and begins typing, but then, the screen shows Robotnik's symbol.

"Someone's hacking the system," Kyle says.

"What?" The guard asks.

"The containment tank is destabilizing," Kyle says. Then turns to the guard, "He's waking up."

Understanding the situation, the guard pushes a red button on the wall.

The alarm blares in the base as the forces are on high alert. Soldiers go to grab their guns and they surround the tank. They watch in anticipation as the figure starts to move a little. Then, the life vitals become still and the figure stops moving. One of the soldiers sighs in relief.

However, the figure's eyes snap open, surging in electricity. His fist punches through the glass, shattering the containment tank. Finally, the hedgehog steps. He's alive and very angry. He instantly disappears from the soldiers' sights. As they look around, Shadow appears by one of them and kicks him away. Then, he knocks the others down one by one as he teleports around the room. Soon, one soldier is left standing. As he searches for Shadow, he hears something behind him. When he turns around, he is punched away by Shadow, flung against the glass, startling the two workers.

"We need more guys," Kyle says.

"That is all the guys," The guard points out.

The soldier slides down the glass and onto the floor with the other defeated soldiers.

And then... BOOM!

The wall bursts apart as Shadow escapes from prison. He spots the city of Tokyo in the distance and speeds down the water. As he speeds, red sparks appear in his eyes.

Elsewhere...

Eve sits herself up in shock, waking up in her sleep as she lets out a gasp in shock.

She suddenly hears Sonic's groan and looks to see him opening his eyes.

Still tired and waking up from his sleep, Sonic asks, "You okay, sis?"

"I'm... I'm good... just had a dream," Eve says, still shocked from the dream she recently had.

"Okay, get back to sleep, we have a long fun day tomorrow," Sonic says, and falls back to sleep.

"Right," Eve responds softly, but isn't going back to sleep.

Eve softly says to herself, "Sh-Shadow... my older brother... Where..." And tears begin to slowly stream from her face, "Where are you?"
