Meanwhile, in the abandoned GUN Base, somewhere far in the mountains, Shadow walks inside with Eve, still unconscious in his arms. As Shadow walks down the tunnel, he notices an old roller skate on the ground. It saddens Shadow to see it because it reminds him of his and Eve's friend, Maria.

Shadow then opens one of the doors and walks inside to reveal an old room. There's a table with five chairs, a pillow fort with a television inside. Along with other furniture, a couch, and other essentials. In fact, this looks like a room for a person, or rather, more than one.

Shadow sighs, "Haven't been here in a long time. But..." and looks down to Eve, "It's good to be back home, now that you're here."

Shadow then gently places Eve down on the ground, under the pillow fort. He makes her place a guitar down at another part of the fort. He places Eve down and cleans out the old and stale popcorn that's been here for years. He then stops to notice the old photograph in a broken frame. It's a picture of himself, with Eve as a little girl, their mother, Tikal, Maria, and Professor Gerald, Maria's grandfather.

Suddenly, Shadow hearts moans and groans and turns to see Eve slowly shift her body, showing signs that she's waking up.

Shadow then places his hand on Eve's head, "Eve..."

Eve slowly opens her eyes as her vision feels blurry at first. Soon, her vision clears to see Shadow, giving her a calm smile.

"Eve," Shadow says.

Eve sits up, feeling a bit dizzy from the battle in Tokyo. She shakes her head off and looks to see the black and red hedgehog.

"Sha-Shadow..." Eve softly says.

Soon, tears verge down her face and hug her brother. Shadow then gently hugs his sister back.

Shadow hugs him and says, "Eve, I... I missed you so much."

Then the two let go of their embrace and look at each other. Shadow then gently rubs Eve's cheek and brushes her dreadlock.

"You've... you've grown so much since I've last seen you... Shadow says.

"I guess I have," Eve says, giving a sheepish smile, "A lot can change in over ten years, huh."

"10 ye...?" Shadow responds, stunned.

"What's wrong?" Eve asks, confused.

"But Eve... I... I've been trapped in suspended animation for 50 years," Shadow says, shocked.

Eve eyes wide in shock, "Imprisoned? For 50 years? But... how?"

Shadow sighs, "I had a feeling you didn't remember, it was... a long time ago..." He then looks around, "But... I feel you might remember this place."

Eve then looks around to find herself in the pillow fort. She then crawls out to see the room, which is very dark in there. She notices the furniture, the lights, and the old record player nearby. Eve then notices the guitar sitting beside Shadow. She gently picks it up and looks at it.

"This... This is Maria's guitar," Eve says.

Eve then looks around, "Then... This... This is Maria's room."

"It is," Shadow says. He then brings out the photograph and presents it to Eve, "It's been so many years since we last saw each other."

Eve then gently takes the picture frame and looks to see the photo that's a family photo.

Flashback: 50 Years Ago

In the GUN Base, back when it's full of security and scientists at work with the Ultimate Life forms that have been discovered. Skating down the halls is a girl with blonde hair, fair skin, and blue eyes. She is holding a box of her things. The girl's name is Maria Robotnik, Professor Gerald Robotnik's granddaughters.

She comes across a restricted area when a military man stops her.

One of them says, "Hey! This is a restricted area."

However, another military man, who is really Walters in his younger years, says, "It's okay. She's the professor's granddaughter. He takes her everywhere."

Then says to Maria, "Welcome to the lab, Maria. I'm Captain Walters."

"Oh, do you know where my room is? "Maria asks.

"Yeah. Down the hall to the right. Make yourself at home," Walters says, pointing to the specific direction. He then says, "But, uh, let's lose the skates, okay, kiddo?"

"Okay," Maria says.

"Hello Captain Walters," A voice says.

The two turn and they along with Maria walk down to see a female echidna. She has watermelon red color fur covering most of her body, a black and pointy nose, with a peach-furred muzzle, a white crescent-shaped patch of fur on her chest. She also has red eyes. She is wearing a yellow strapless dress that has a white ribbon tied around her waist, along with white slip on shoes. She is also wearing a red short sleeve blouse jacket, and white gloves. She is also wearing a white lab coat as well.

"Hey Tikal, how are your 'kids' doing?" Captain Walters says.

"They're doing very fine, especially the youngest. She's definitely progressing," Tikal says.

"Good to hear," Captain Walters says.

Then Tikal notices the young girl, "Oh, you must be Professor Gerald's granddaughter, Maria. I'm Tikal, his assistant. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Maria smiles and says, "It's nice to meet you too."

Then asks, "So you have kids here?"

"Yes. However, well, it's difficult to explain, you might see them yourselves. But I better get back to work," Tikal says.

"Okay. I'll just head to my room," Maria says.

Moments later, Maria walks down the halls with her roller skates off and enters the area. She then stops to notice a light and walks inside to find comatose Shadow floating inside a containment tank. She sets down her box and walks toward the tank. As she walks over, she notices another containment tank nearby, but in a lying down position. It's made to look more like an incubator or something, and it has the young Eve, who resembles Shadow, lying down, like she's asleep. Maria continues to approach the tank with Shadow. As she's about to place her hand on the tank, Shadow wakes up and turns to face her. She jumps back a little. She stares at Shadow and makes a funny face at him. Maria then gets out a black marker from her box and draws something on the tank. When she's done, we see she's made a rabbit drawing over Shadow, making him look like a rabbit. His frown contrasts with the drawing's smile. Maria giggles before placing her hand on the glass. Shadow places his hand on the glass. The two smile at each other. A friendship is born.

First in Maria's room, she starts playing music on a record player and dances along as Shadow watches curiously.

Then in an examination room, as scientists get ready to test on Shadow, Maria pops up near him with an idea. When the scientists turn around, they find a teddy bear in his place.

Cut to the hallway, Shadow gets ready to run as Maria holds on with a rope attached to him while wearing roller skates. He starts running, dragging Maria along for the ride.

Cut to Maria teaching Shadow how to dance by holding his hands.

Cut back to them riding down the hall.

Cut to them dancing by waving.

Back to the ride, Maria spots some scientists wheeling in food.

Maria cries out, "Look out!"

They crash into them, creating a mess all over the floor. Maria and Shadow proceed to make angels in the food pile.

And then cuts to when Eve is able to be let out and be introduced to Maria and Shadow, by Tikal. Eve is a little shy at first, but is able to warm up to Maria and Shadow, including Tikal and the Professor.

Cuts to Maria and Shadow helping her walk and move around.

Then cuts to Maria teaching Eve the stuff that she has taught Shadow.

And then cuts to Eve begins running around and having fun as Shadow chases after her. Eve and Shadow then run around a pile of boxes. But Eve mananges to slip away and runs down the hall as she giggles. Shadow soon stops to realize Eve has given her the slip and chases after her.

Cuts to Maria puts some ribbons on Eve's dreadlocks, making the girl giggling.

Then cuts to when Maria plays her guitar as Eve watches as she sits on Tikal's lap and Shadow is sitting beside her.

Then cuts to when Tikal tells Shadow and Eve stories, most likely about her Echidna kind and legends about her tribe and her kind.

Then cuts to when Tikal and Shadow have a training exercise, well, physical training. With her being an Echidna, she does wish to teach her kids how Echidna warriors fight.

Then another scene cuts to when Maria gives Eve one of her headbands. Eve happily smiles and gives Maria a hug in glee. And then Tikal gives Eve the necklace with a charm that has her name.

Then cut to the three under a pillow fort with Maria throwing popcorn at Shadow playfully making Eve giggle in response. They are watching an old kaiju film, with the kaiju. Text appears, reading 'BEWARE THE ALIEN FREAK!' Shadow sees this and frowns in sadness. Maria notices his weary look. Then, she steals a keycard from a sleeping scientist and uses it to activate the lift. The lift takes her, Shadow, and Eve up to the top of the base, where they appear under a night sky. They lay down to watch the stars together.

"Wow. Look at all those stars. They're like diamonds," Maria says.

"They look really pretty," Eve says with a smile on her face.

"They really are," Maria says, "My grandfather says it can take hundreds of years for the light of a star to reach Earth. And by the time we see it, the star might not even exist anymore," And looking over, "Isn't that crazy?"

"The light shines... even though the star's gone..." Shadow says.

"Yeah. It does," Maria says and looking back at Shadow, "I wonder which one you and Eve came from, Shadow."

"I don't know. I don't know anything about my home," Shadow says.

"This is your home, Shadow. Earth," Maria says.

Shadow then sits up and softly asks, "Maria... Do you think I'm... dangerous?"

"Dangerous?" Eve asks, and begins to pick a few flowers.

"What are you talking about?" Maria asks, confused.

"The way the scientists looked at me. I can tell they're afraid. Like I'm the horrible thing from that movie we watched. I don't know... what I am," Shadow says, sounding distraught.

"You're my friend. You and Eve. And you can do or be anything you want. Not because of your powers, but because of who you are... in here," Maria says, and points to Shadow's heart.

Eve then presents a flower to Shadow, "Look Shadow, the flower is really pretty. It's for you."

Shadow softly smiles and takes the flower. He then says, "I don't know what I'd do without you. Without either of you," as Eve sits down next to Maria.

They all hold hands together as they watch the stars.

Cut back to the present day, Shadow turns off the record player. He turns to see Eve sitting on the couch close by, still holding the photograph. Eve lets out a sad sigh as she walks to the fort and places the photo back in place.

"I... I can't believe it's been fifty years," Eve says.

"I understand how you felt when I realized it myself. It's just, still overwhelming, especially since that terrible day," Shadow says, saddened and bitter.

"That day...?" Eve questions/

She suddenly hears alarms in her head. Then flashes of Shadow and Maria, and Tikal running. Eve begins to feel pain in her head and clenches it.

"That day...? The... the accident...? What... What was it?" Eve asks herself, feeling pain.

Shadow then hugs Eve and comforts her, trying to calm her.

"It... It's okay, Eve... It's okay," Shadow says.

Eve hugs Shadow and softly says, "Shadow, Maria, Mother... The professor, they're... they're gone..." and tears streamed down her face, "They're really gone."

Shadow is shocked to hear what Eve said, but understands that Eve is slowly starting to remember the accident that took Maria and their mother away, and how their lives were destroyed.

Shadow then says, "Eve, there's something else I like to show you."

Moments later, Shadow teleports them to a familiar place. Eve looks around to see the mountain landscape and the field of white flowers.

"It's the flower field. The one Maria showed us... it's... it's still here," Eve says, surprised.

And remembers the good memories of this place.

"I figure it would cheer you up," Shadow says, "I remember how you used to pick the flowers and give them to me, mother, and Maria. Mother even taught you how to make a crown out of flowers."

Eve then slowly walks around the garden and looks to see the beautiful mountain view. She then sits down and looks at the view. Shadow walks and stands beside her. Shadow thinks of the good times he had with Eve and Maria. It's... It's hard to believe that it's all gone, and now, they only have each other.

Then Eve remembers, "Hold on, where are Sonic and the others?"

"Probably still in that city we were in," Shadow says.

"Oh," Eve says.

"What is your relationship with them?" Shadow asks.

"Well, it's kind of a long story, but in short, Tails, Knuckles, and Jazz are my good friends. Sonic, the blue hedgehog, he's kind of like a brother to me," Eve says.

"Brother?" Shadow questions.

"Um yeah. We met the same day Sonic first came to Earth. He found me in the capsule after it crashed. Ever since then, we stick together and become somewhat siblings," Eve explains.

"Quite an annoying brother you got there," Shadow says, rolling his eyes in annoyance.

"Why were you attacking Tokyo? If you were?" Eve questions.

"More like attacking those GUN Agents, they won't leave me alone," Shadow says.

Eve mutters, "Join the club."

Then Eve says, "But, I'm sure once I explain to the guys about our situation, I'm sure we can come up with something to reassure us that we'll be safe."

"I don't think anything can help us, not at this point," Shadow says.

Eve sadly says, "Shadow."

Shadow sighs, "You just... wait here. I'll be inside if you need me."

"Okay," Shadow says.

With that, Shadow heads back down to the facility.

Eve sadly says, "Shadow. I wish there's a way to help you."

He then walks over to the broken containment tank where he used to be when he first met Maria. He looks sadly at his reflection in the glass. Just then, he hears footsteps meaning someone from approaching. Shadow turns around and sparks his fist in chaos energy.

However, he recognizes the figure in surprise, "Professor?"

Indeed, the one who is standing in front of Shadow is none other than Gerald Robotnik, and he's alive.

Gerald Robotnik says, "It's good to see you, Shadow. I knew you would come home. And I knew that you and Eve would find each other again."

"I can't get them out of my head. The pain... It's too much," Shadow says, showing stress.

"And that is why we have to punish them," Gerald Robotnik says.
