Love Story

Elyse froze, feeling as if she was being watched. She gave her two best friends, Addison and Kylen a strange look, before turning around to look for the pair of eyes that seemed to have taken interest in her.

Searching the crowd of dancing people, she noticed a gorgeous young woman making her way towards her. Elyse tilted her head and smiled softly at the young woman.

The young woman spoke as soon as she reached the trio. "I couldn't help but notice your beauty from all the way across this room and just had to say hello. So hello. My name is Carynn."

Elyse blushed as butterflies rushed into her stomach. She hadn't ever felt this way before. She smiled hesitantly at Carynn before glancing back at Addison.

Addison was good at reading people, and she knew that Elyse was curious and nervous to be around this unexpected variable. But she gave her a little nod, saying that it was okay for Elyse to go with Carynn.

Elyse smiled at Addison, and started walking around the room with Carynn, just talking and laughing about anything that came to mind.

By the time the dance was over, Elyse had grown to have a crush on Carynn. But she kept it a secret, because she knew that her parents would not be happy.

But the secret didn't stay a secret for long. Her parents found out just a couple weeks after the dance. They weren't happy, just as Elyse expected. They didn't want to have a daughter who had feelings for other girls. So they tried to hide her away. They told Carynn to stay away from Elyse.

Elyse overheard her father telling Carynn this, and darted down the stairs. She saw the love of her life frowning, but agreeing to her father's demands.

"Please don't go!" Elyse cried, staring at the young woman she had grown to love in just a few short weeks. Carynn only smiled softly at Elyse before leaving the house. Elyse glared at her father through her tears and stormed up to her room to send a quick message to Carynn.

'Carynn, please, take me somewhere we can be alone. I'll be waiting, all that's left to do is run.'

Carynn didn't reply and Elyse's tears began to flow faster and faster until the young woman fell asleep, hugging a pillow to her chest. She imagined it was Carynn she was hugging and not just a pillow.

Later that night, Elyse awoke to her phone vibrating. She stared at it blurry eyed, and read the message that Carynn had sent her.

'Meet me out front.'

Elyse frowned, but snuck out to the front garden to talk to Carynn. They spoke of many things, but kept their voices down low so that they wouldn't get in trouble with Elyse's parents.

After half an hour, Carynn knew she should probably leave. Before she left though, Elyse whispered to her, "You're everything to me, Carryn. Please don't go. Let's just run away from all this. We don't have to tell them."

Carynn smiled softly, and pressed her forehead against Elyse's. "I promise I'll come back for you."

Elyse watched as Carynn left, tears filling her eyes as she hurried back inside.

A few weeks later, Elyse stormed back up to her room, and sent yet another message to Carynn. Carynn had yet to respond to any of them.

'Carynn, please come and save me. They're trying to tell me how to feel. This love is difficult, but it's real.'

Elyse noticed that Carynn had seen her message almost as soon as she sent it. A few minutes later, she received a reply.

'Elyse, don't be afraid. We'll make it out of this mess.'

Elyse teared up again and cried into her pillow, waiting for the love of her life to come back and save her from her ever controlling parents.

After several months passed, Elyse's hopes started to fade. She started wondering if Carynn was coming to save her.

And then... she got a message. 'Meet me on the outskirts of town.'

Elyse didn't hesitate to rush out the door, merely yelling to her parents that she was meeting up with a friend, giving them no time to respond or stop her.

She got to the outskirts of town, and saw Carynn waiting for her. She ran towards the woman, and flung her arms around her neck.

"Carynn, I've been feeling so alone. I keep waiting for you but you never come. Is this in my head? I don't know what to think..."

Carynn stepped away from Elyse and gave her a patient smile. Elyse stared at her with teary eyes, which widened in shock when Carynn reached into her jacket pocket, knelt down on knee and presented a ring to Elyse.

"Marry me, Elyse, you'll never have to feel alone. I love you and that's all I really know. I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress. It's a love story, baby, just say yes."

Elyse's hands went up to cover her mouth, her golden hair flying in the wind. She felt tears running down her cheeks as she stared at Carynn in shock and happiness. Barely able to choke out an answer, she threw her arms around Carynn.

"Yes!"
