11 - Stage Names
You'd think it would've been awkward. Sam and Dean, suddenly living at the house of their favourite band. But it wasn't.
Well for everyone except Sam it wasn't.
"Hey everyone I got pizza!" Gabriel yelled through the house. Sam had been sitting in his room shared with Dean reading, and sighed before putting it down and walking to...more like walking aimlessly really, it was hard to navigate that house.
It was the second day that they'd been there. Dean had been by Cas's side the entire time, leaving Sam either alone or with these people that he barely knew. Cas's friendship with Dean had allowed Dean to fit in pretty quickly, and so did Dean's musical talent, but Sam was just...the odd one out.
Gabriel noticed this.
When Sam finally got to the kitchen, Dean, Cas, Michael and Luci had all attacked the pizza. Gabe was standing to the side already with his portion of pizza, probably grabbed it before he called out. Sam just sighed.
Gabe noticed him and reached behind himself for another box, passing it to Sam. Sam gave him a suspicious look.
"What, you seem like the type of guy who would be vegetarian," Gabe said, shrugging. Sam raised an eyebrow and opened the box to find a vegetarian pizza.
"He's lying, I told him that," Dean said. Sam chuckled slightly as Gabe pouted.
"Well at least no one will try to take your pizza now," Gabe said, smiling. Sam offered a small smile in return.
Dean rolled his eyes at them, taking another slice of pizza.
"I know you feel awkward," Gabe said, standing to the side with Sam, as Luci and Cas started arguing, Michael and Dean siding with their soon to be boyfriends.
"Well I mean," Sam said. "I don't even know why I'm here. Dean just drags me around."
"Probably my fault, I did extend the invitation to you," Gabe replied. "Do you feel awkward because you don't know us, or because we're a pretty well known band that you like?"
"Both?" Sam said, shrugging. "I'm essentially staying in a strangers house right now."
"Cas wouldn't let us put you in a hotel," Gabe muttered. "He's attached to Dean."
"Oh I couldn't tell," Sam said, gesturing at Cas having no sense of personal space as he stood next to Dean. Dean didn't appear to notice.
Gabe chuckled. "Cas needs to sort things out. With Angel."
"You don't say," Sam said. "How haven't you interfered yet?"
Gabe shrugged. "It's Cassie's choice. He can mess up his chance at a relationship if he wants."
"Very caring brother," Sam pointed out. Gabe just shrugged, smiling slightly.
~~
"Shit."
"That's an accurate way to describe this situation, yes," Michael said, watching Cas run around his room. "You should've thought of this before."
"I didn't realize we'd be going to the studio today," Cas snapped. "A little warning would've been nice."
"Last minute decision," Michael said. "Gabriel wanted to show Dean the studio. I think he wants to see what Dean will be able to do with it."
"Yeah but why does he need me there?" Cas whined. "As Angel?"
"I think he's trying to sort out your stupidity," Michael said, rolling his eyes. "Just tell Dean."
"No," Cas muttered stubbornly. Michael sighed.
"Me and Luce will be here all day, have fun lying to Dean."
Cas rolled his eyes as he threw on his angel wings jacket. "Use protection!" He called as he ran out of the house. He heard Michael protesting behind him but paid no attention.
Cas walked to the studio that wasn't that far away, walking into the room where Gabe was showing Dean what all the fancy buttons and things did.
"Hey bro," Gabe said, barely looking up. Dean looked up and froze, a light blush spreading across his cheeks.
"Hello Gabriel, Dean," Cas said.
"Hey Angel," Dean said a bit quietly. Cas smirked slightly. Gabe 'subtly' rolled his eyes.
"Anyway," Gabe said. "Dean, this button does a thing and that button also does a thing..."
Dean tried to pay attention to what Gabriel was saying but his attention was on Angel now. Angel with his stupid smirk and spiked up hair and his similarity to Castiel.
"...and you're not listening to me so I could say anything right now, hey Dean I want to bang your brother."
Angel tried to stifle a laugh as Dean immediately glared at Gabe with a look of murder. Gabe held up his hands in defence.
"I'm just saying," Gabe said. "Totally true though."
"You hurt him and you die," Dean said.
"I don't think he's kidding," Angel said. "I'll help dig the grave. I know they can take a while."
"Why the hell do you know that?" Gabe asked incredulously.
"I saw it on MythBusters," Angel said. "Why did you think I knew?"
"You murder people frequently don't you?" Gabe said. "Isn't that why you're never home?"
"No that's because you're all loud and annoying," Angel said.
"Cas isn't loud," Dean said.
"But Luci and Michael are," Angel pointed out.
"At least they're not having loud sex," Gabe said.
"But they're not having quiet sex either," Angel said, rolling his eyes. "They're blind to each other's feelings."
Gabe stifled a laugh then, earning a glare from Angel and a confused look from Dean. "Don't go talking to me about people who are blind," Gabe said, shaking his head. "Anyway, back to the studio stuff..."
But now, we need to have...you guessed it, a michifer flashback!!
Except now it's more just about the formation of the band.
"Mikey come on," Luci whined. "I think it'd be cool."
"We do not need stage names," Michael said, sighing.
"I think it's a good idea," Cas said. "Then we can keep private lives."
"Crowley did recommend it," Gabe pointed out. Crowley had heard them perform their new, and first, song called Hell in Heaven, which was about an angel family feud, inspired by their own weird family. Crowley had liked it and approached them, saying he owned a record label and...the author doesn't know how these things work. You get the idea.
"I doubt he can make us as famous as he says he can," Michael said. He was hesitant. Going into a deal with Crowley...it was a commitment. It might not work out. His family would hate him for this, he'd told them he'd leave the band...
"Come on Mikey," Luci said. "Just go with it. This could turn out amazingly."
"We should use angel related names," Gabe said.
"So, our normal names?" Cas asked.
"Well no...similar but still different," Gabe said. "Actually I want to be the Trickster."
"Oo I'll be Morningstar," Luci said, smirking. "Michael?"
Michael sighed. "The archangel Michael was often referred to as Saint Michael..."
"Good enough," Luci said, smiling. "And Cassie?"
Cas just shrugged. "I'll be Angel."
Crowley booked them a show, and a surprising amount of people showed up to hear them perform. They played covers of songs, but people cheered the loudest for their original songs. There was an interview afterwards, as they were described to the media as upcoming stars.
"So people are dying to know about you guys," the woman interviewing them said. "You've only mentioned stage names so far..."
"Well, I'm Gabriel Novak," Gabe said. "And these are my brothe—" He cut himself off as Michael glared at him. "Uh..."
"I do not want publicity," Cas said. "I'll only be known as Angel."
"I agree with Angel," Michael said. "I'm not exactly enthusiastic about people being able to find out everything about my life."
"I'm neutral to it," Lucifer said. "Name's Lucifer." The interviewer looked a little shocked at that.
And that's how things went from there on out. The original interview was hard to find these days, which is why people were unsure on Morningstar's real name.
Sometimes Michael regretted letting it get even that far.
~~
Michifer have no storyline to act out yet. They need to wait for some oblivious idjits to sort something out first.
So here's their part of the chapter.
Michael and Luci sat around playing video games like normal mature adults all day.
~~
"Well anyway," Gabe said, after letting Dean play with the studio for a few hours. "I'm going to head back to the house. I'll let you two talk some more." And then he was gone.
"Uh..." Dean said, pointedly not looking at Angel.
"It's alright to look at me you know," Angel said, smirking as he walked over to Dean. Dean could feel himself blushing as he looked up to meet Angel's gaze. "So...what do you think of Cas?"
"He's awesome," Dean said quietly.
"I think he likes you," Angel said. "You should ask him out. On a proper date. He won't make the first move."
"Uh...okay," Dean said, trying to get it through his head that he was getting dating advice from his idol.
Angel/Cas was hitting himself in the head internally. He'd planned to tell Dean but...he couldn't. He didn't want Dean to act so shy and awkward around him all the time.
