10 - Stuck Together

A few months had passed since the whole competition thing, and Dean had been texting Cas constantly. Sam hadn't heard from Gabriel at all, which was unusual considering how determined Gabe had seemed. But anyway, let's see how they're all doing.

"Dude," Dean said. "I got an email from Heaven's Grace."

"Wow you're like friends with them now," Sam said lazily from where he was lying on a couch. "What did it say?"

"It was about the collab album they wanted to do," Dean said. "They said they want me in it."

"Well duh, Cas already said that didn't he?" Sam said.

"Well yeah but now it's real," Dean said. "They're going to be recording in LA, so I have to go back there." He paused, reading part of the email. "They've also got a place for us to stay."

"Us?" Sam asked, sitting up. "I'm going too?"

"I think Gabriel would murder me if I didn't drag you along," Dean said, smirking slightly. Sam just rolled his eyes. "Besides, you couldn't survive a few weeks without me. I mean, you have your own apartment but spend most of your time here."

"My apartment is boring," Sam muttered.

"Shouldn't you be studying?"

"I haven't exactly gone to classes in a while."

Dean blinked. "Sammy are you okay?"

Sam shrugged noncommittally. "Mid life crisis?"

"You're not even in mid life, you're in your early 20's," Dean said. Sam just sighed. Dean gave him a worried look. "Okay you're definitely coming to LA now, we can have some fun and maybe you'll have some sort of epiphany while we're there."

"Maybe," Sam said, shrugging again. Dean just gave him a concerned look again.

"Castiel I swear to Chuck almighty," Gabe said. "If you don't tell Dean that you're Angel..."

"You'll what?" Cas said, rolling his eyes. They were doing a small show, and were currently backstage getting ready. Cas looked in the mirror, spiking up his hair. He already had the makeup and guyliner on.

"You know it won't end well," Gabe said, grabbing Cas's jacket from where it was laying on a chair and throwing it to him. Cas caught it and put it on.

"Gabriel could we not talk about this anymore?" Cas said, glaring at his brother. "I'll sort it out when Dean gets here."

"Sure you will," Gabe muttered, walking out of the room. Cas rolled his eyes before following, the two of them joining Michael and Luci where they were waiting to start the show.

"You guys ready?" Luci asked, his arm lazily around Michael's shoulders.

"As ready as I always am," Gabe said, bouncing lightly on his feet. Cas just sighed and nodded, trying to ignore the annoyance he was feeling towards Gabriel.

And so, they went out on stage and performed.

"You know, we're graduating next week," Luci said. He was lying on the couch at Michael's house. Gabriel and Cas were there too, they'd been rehearsing.

"Great, how fun," Michael said sarcastically.

"Why aren't you excited?" Luci asked.

"Because my family wants me to go to college," Michael said. "Go into business or politics or something like that."

"Nope, you're stuck with us," Luci said. "We won't let them take you away."

"They say I won't get anywhere being a musician," Michael muttered. "Apparently it's not a stable career."

"But we can still make it work," Gabriel said. "People love us already. We just need to write some of our own songs and get picked up by record label."

"Easier said than done," Michael muttered.

"Well if anyone can do it, we can," Luci said. "I mean, who wouldn't love us? We're angels."

"You're Satan," Gabe said and Luci chuckled.

"Satan was an angel too," he said. He sat up suddenly. "We should base our band name after that. Something along the lines of Heaven..."

"Heaven's Angels?" Gabe asked.

"Nah that sounds almost Christiany," Luci said. "What's something else we could use?"

"Angels have grace," Cas said suddenly. "Heaven's Grace?"

Luci's eyes lit up and he jumped excitedly. "Yes, I love it, we are now Heaven's Grace."

"I second that," Gabe said. "Michael?"

Michael nodded, forcing a smile. Because he didn't have the heart to tell them that he'd actually been considering quitting the band and following up on his parents suggestions...

But looking at how excited they were, maybe that could wait a little longer.

A few weeks passed, and Dean and Sam were now on a road trip to LA. They weren't flying over this time, since they'd be staying for longer. They also didn't know how long they were staying, Gabriel hadn't really specified it when emailing Dean the details.

They'd taken turns driving while the other slept, and Dean was driving when they finally arrived to LA. He pulled up to the address he'd been given, which was a pretty big house. He got out of the car, looking at the house, which was probably closer to a mansion actually, and checking that he had the address right.

"Deano!" Gabe called, opening the front door and running over. "You made it."

"Dude do you live here?" Dean said, looking at the place with wide eyes?"

"Yeah," Gabe said, shrugging sheepishly. "It's a little over the top, but we also use it as a family holiday house. And our family is kind of big. Which is why we figured you could just stay here, I mean we definitely have the room."

"Yeah, thanks dude," Dean said, still looking at the house thing. Gabe looked around Dean at the car.

"Is Sam with you?" he asked hopefully.

"Yeah he's just sleeping," Dean said, turning to the car. "Long trip." He looked through the open door to look at Sam and Gabe followed his gaze. Dean reached across to shake Sam awake, and Sam blinked his eyes wearily. "We're here."

"Okay," Sam said sleepily. He looked past Dean to see Gabe standing there, looking a little red in the face. Then looked past both of them at the house. "Woah."

"I know right," Dean said. "Oh so do Cas and Angel both live here?"

Gabe froze. Because this was apparently not something they'd thought through. "Uh...yeah. Although Angel isn't around too often."

"Really?" Dean said, narrowing his eyes. "I thought you guys were all super close."

"Well yeah but Angel likes going on holidays and things," Gabe said. "Well, I'll be inside, just drop your bags at the door for now and explore. Yell if you need anything." He ran back inside the house, leaving a confused Dean.

"That was strange," Dean said.

"They live here," Sam said bluntly. "Why are we staying at their house? We don't know them too well..."

"I'm friends with Cas, that's probably why," Dean said. "Cas lives here too."

Sam blinked. "Yes. The band lives here. And Cas." He muttered to himself. "He's so oblivious." Dean didn't hear him.

Meanwhile, Gabriel.

"Cassie where are you?" Gabe yelled through the house. He heard a muffled reply from the second floor and ran up to Cas's room.

"What is it?" Cas said. "Are the Winchester's here yet?"

"Yeah about that," Gabe said. "What are we telling Dean?"

Cas blinked. "Uh..."

"Are you just going to pretend to be Angel the whole time because that would be much easier," Gabe said. "Or alternatively, you could tell him."

"Or I could not tell him," Cas said. "What did you say to him already?" Gabe repeated his excuse to Cas. "Okay we can work with that." Gabe just groaned and dragged himself out of the room. Cas followed, walking downstairs to where Dean and Sam were now in the front doorway of the house.

"Cas!" Dean said, eyes lighting up as he saw him. Cas smiled and let Dean pull him into a hug. "Long time no see."

"You guys talk to each other every day," Sam pointed out.

"It's not the same though," Dean said. He narrowed his eyes at Sam suddenly, remembering how Sam had been acting recently. Then he shoved Sam in the direction of Gabe. "Make him have fun." Then he grabbed Cas by the arm and walked off.

"Dean do you even know where you're going?" Cas asked as Dean walked into another room.

"Nope," Dean said. "Show me around? I'm probably going to get lost in here." Cas smiled and nodded, before taking Dean around the house and explaining what all the rooms where and generally what to avoid as things were prone to sudden pranks from Gabriel.

And then they got to the bedroom issue.

"Okay so Michael and Luci share a room," Cas said as they stood in a hallway. "Gabriel has the one at the end. And mine's the one on the left."

"What about Angel?" Dean asked. Cas mentally swore. He couldn't even say that he shared with Angel, because there was only one bed in there.

"That's his room there," Cas said, pointing to a door. Never mind that the door just led into a closet. "He gets annoyed about people going in without permission, so don't go in there." Dean nodded. "Want to see the music room?" Dean's eyes lit up.

Cas led them into some other part of the house, to a large room with multiple instruments and things throughout it, including a grand piano and many guitars.

"Woah," Dean said, looking around.

"You can play them if you want," Cas said with a smile. "Although, you'd probably like your own better."

"Yeah, mine's awesome, but this is still pretty cool," Dean said. "Can you play something for me?" Cas smiled and walked over to the piano. "You and Angel both like piano huh?"

"Uh...yeah," Cas said awkwardly. He sat down, and started playing a song. Dean sat beside him and was content to just watch him play.

But now, let's go back a bit, to where Dean and Cas left Sam and Gabe in the room alone.

"Uh..." Sam said, watching Dean go.

"What?" Gabe said. "What just happened?"

"I think he's worried about me," Sam said.

"Why are you okay?" Gabe said with sudden concern.

"I'm fine," Sam said. "Just not too sure on life recently."

"Okay..." Gabe said. "Well uh...anyway..."

"Are you going to try and hit on me every waking moment that I'm here?" Sam said.

"Why restrict it to just waking moments?" Gabe said, smirking suddenly. Sam blinked. "I'm kidding I'm kidding...I won't. I'd rather be friends with you than have you constantly hating me for trying to sleep with you."

"Thank you," Sam said. There was a moment of tense silence between them.

"Want to help me prank Michael and Luci?" Gabe said suddenly, smiling mischievously. "They're out right now, I was planning to mess with their room while they were gone."

Sam considered this for a moment before smiling. "You know, why not?"

Gabe smiled widely. "We can totally put rainbow glitter in their room and somehow get Luci covered in it...maybe that'll make them realize how gay they are for each other." Sam laughed and Gabe smiled almost shyly at him. As they started to set up the prank, Sam couldn't help thinking that maybe Gabriel wouldn't be so hard to deal with after all.
