Shadow's POV

I just Kissed Faker! I thought as I walked back to P.E. I was shocked at what I had just done. I like him... No. I don't like him, I...love him!  After this realization, I found myself in front of the door to the boys changing room. I hesitated at first, but I soon pushed the door open and stepped inside the hot, clammy room.

3rd-person POV/Backstory 

Since Jr. High started, Shadow dreaded P.E. It wasn't because he was slow, he could run at the speed of sound and loved the physical activity. The reason he didn't like P.E, was because of how he had to change in front of the other boys. It wasn't that bad, he sometimes had to change in front of Maria on the Space Colony Ark, and sometimes he had to lay naked in front of Professor Gerald Robotnik for examinations. But this was different. Maria and Professor Gerald wouldn't stare at his chest. When he was created he was VERY handsome and somewhat sexy. His masculine body was usually hidden under loose shirts, baggy hoodies, and jeans that fit perfectly. 

The first P.E. class Shadow had, he was excited until the changing part. But, 12-year-old Shadow didn't think much of it. When they got assigned lockers, Shadow, unfortunately, got assigned to an area with a bunch of boys who thought Shadow was ugly. But when Shadow took off his shirt to reveal his abs, they all stared at him, dumbstruck. That always happened in P.E. Only with different boys, all through Jr. High, High School, and the first few years of Collage. Today was no different.

Sonic's POV/End of Backstory

I slowly closed the door behind me as I walked back into math. I was still in a daze after what Shadow did. He kissed me! I slowly walked back to my seat to wait out the remaining minutes of class.

~Time skip~

BRIIIIIIIIING

I looked up as the bell rang, and like the others, eagerly shoved my stuff into my backpack and rushed out the door yelling, "FOOOOOD!!!!!". Such was the procedure of every student who had 2nd lunch, meaning that they had to suffer through 5 long hours until lunch. I raced down the stairs looking for my best friend.

"SONIC!!! OVER HERE!" I looked around for the voice. I finally spotted the little fox jumping up and down amidst a sea of much taller Mobians. I waved and started forcing my way through the normal lunch crowd.

"Hey, Tails!" I said, grinning, as I sat down at his table.

"Hiya Sonic! If you don't mind, I asked someone to sit with us!"

"Err...who?"

"Shadow! I just met him in P.E!" Tails said, ginning eagerly up at me. There was an awkward silence between us before I said, "Doesn't he have 1st lunch?"

Tails looked at me and said, sarcastically, "Well, in case you've forgotten, there's an assembly today so everyone has 2nd lunch."

"Assembly? What assembly? I haven't gone to an assembly today!"

"That's because the 1st assembly took place during the 1st lunch period. You'll get your turn after this." Said an oddly familiar voice above me. I looked up at the newcomer and saw...

"Shadow! You came!" Tails said excitedly.

"Tch. Of course, I did. I didn't want to miss a chance with my favorite hedgie." Shadow said looking at me with a gleam in his eyes. Shadow earned a bright red blush at this and smiled. 

I took my backpack off and threw it at him yelling, "¡Cállate, idiota!"

The gleam in Shadow's eyes dispersed as he saw the red backpack rushing towards him. 

He easily dodged it and yelled back, "I AM NOT A JERK AND DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME TO SHUT UP!!!" Shadow's voice echoed around the now silent lunch room as everyone turned to stare.

"I SAID IT ONCE, I CAN AND WILL SAY IT AGAIN! BESIDES, I DON'T EVEN LIKE YOU!!!" I yelled.

"WELL, NEITHER DO I! AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE ME, WHY DID YOU KISS ME?" I looked at him and felt my anger rising to the boiling point. I saw him cover his mouth as his eyes widened. He stepped back a few feet after realizing what he had done. 

"S-sonic?" Tails squeaked out. 

"WHAT?" I roared turning to face the shivering fox, cowering away from me. 

"I-i'm sorry!! I d-didn't know that t-this would h-happen!" He confessed in a small baby voice. Tails continued with, "But p-please, try and control C-cinos!"

My anger softened as I looked at Tails, but grew again as I looked at Shadow. I turned my back on Shadow and started taking deep breaths to control my anger.

I had just calmed down when I heard "Cinos? What's that? Who's he?" (Annie, anyone?😂)

I whipped back around to face Shadow, snarling, and yelled, "IT'S NOT MY FAULT I HAVE A DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER!" By now I had tears running down my face, breathing heavily. "I DIDN'T MEAN TO KISS YOU!! I LOST CONTROL AND...and Cinos.....he..." After I said this, Shadow started to say something, but before the words could get out of his mouth I ran out of the room sobbing.

Shadow's POV

I just stood there, in shock, trying to comprehend what the heck happened. Sonic had just yelled, "IT'S NOT MY FAULT I HAVE A DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER!" After this he had tears running down his face, breathing heavily, and I realized that I had hit a nerve. "I DIDN'T MEAN TO KISS YOU!! I LOST CONTROL AND...and Cinos.....he..." I started to apologize but a sobbing Sonic ran out of the room before I could make a sound. 

As Sonic ran out of the room I whispered, "I'm sorry..." a split second before the lunchroom erupted with noise. I jumped, having forgotten that they were there. 

~Time skip: end of the school day~

I stood waiting by the entrance to the school for my girlfriend, Rouge. As I stood there I started mulling over the day's events. 

After that scene in the lunchroom, Sonic and I avoided each other for the rest of the day. Tails followed both of us around, apologizing over and over again in his scared baby voice. I told him that it wasn't his fault every time he tried to apologize to me. After the 7th time of this, he left and the next time I saw him he was holding on to a certain blue hedgehog's arm. "Hey, Handsome."

"OH SHIZ, ROUGE!!!! You scared me!" I was broken out of my thoughts by Rouge. "What do you want?" I asked, resuming my usual cold manner.

"I wanted to tell you to go to YouTube and search 'Hero Fight in Lunchroom!!!!'. Oh and also, check your messages."

"Uh...Okay?" At this Rouge just walked away. Girls! I thought, rolling my eyes.

Soon after Rouge walked away, I turned around and Chaos-Controlled me to my house. I opened the front door and jumped onto the couch. I fished my phone out of my backpack and did what Rouge suggested. I went onto YouTube, searched Hero Fight in Lunchroom!!!!, clicked on the first video I found and started watching. The quality was poor, you could tell it was recorded by phone.

It was about this kid who recorded lunch with his buddies. They were laughing and having a good time. They quiet down when they hear, "¡Cállate, idiota!" from Sonic. The whole lunchroom quited when I yelled, "I AM NOT A JERK AND DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME TO SHUT UP!!!" My voice echoing around the silent lunchroom. 

"I SAID IT ONCE, I CAN AND WILL SAY IT AGAIN! BESIDES, I DON'T EVEN LIKE YOU!!!" Sonic yelled. You could hear a small gasp from the kid's recording. 

"WELL, NEITHER DO I! AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE ME, WHY DID YOU KISS ME?" I yelled back. At this statement, you could hear everyone gasp. You could see me cover my mouth while my eyes widened. You could also see that I stepped back. The lunchroom was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. 

That's why you could hear Tails ask, "S-sonic?" Sonic turned on one heel to face the fox. 

"WHAT?" Sonic roared. 

"I-i'm sorry!! I d-didn't know that t-this would h-happen!" Tails confessed. "But p-please, try and control C-cinos!"

You could see my ears perk up as I asked curiously, "Cinos? What's that, Who's he?" This statement drew a few giggles from the crowd as they realized that I quoted Annie. At this, Sonic turned around so fast all you could see was a blue blur. 

Sonic snarled and yelled, "IT'S NOT MY FAULT I HAVE A DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER!" Now, after revealing his biggest secret, he started crying. Sonic the Hedgehog, crying. "I DIDN'T MEAN TO KISS YOU!! I LOST CONTROL AND...and Cinos.....he..." Before Sonic could finish his sentence he started sobbing and ran out of the room. 

You could just barely hear my whispered, "I'm sorry." before the room erupted into chaos. There were a few muffled shouts when the phone camera was covered, then silence. The video ended.

"Wow..." I breathed to myself. Is that why Sonic always pushed down his anger, grief, sadness, and hate? I thought. I sat up on the couch and opened my computer. I opened a new tab and searched, 'What causes dissociative identity disorder'. This is what came up:

I did further research and found:

1: Symptoms often include Amnesia. "Well, that explains why Sonic doesn't remember being Cinos," I said out loud. Inside, I added another sentence. I should know how Sonic feels. I've had some....unpleasant cases of amnesia.

2: Inability to cope well with emotional or professional stress. "That's probably why Sonic's always has a huge smile plastered on his face." I murmur.

3: Significant stress or problems in your relationships, work or other important areas of your life. Is that why Sonic's never had a love interest? I asked myself.

4: Mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. As I read this, I gasped and sat straight up. 

"SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AND BEHAVIORS?!?" I exclaimed in shock. "I NEED to talk to Tails!"

I thew my door open and ran to Tails'/Sonic's house thinking, What have I done? 

Tails' POV

I was just sitting there, minding my own business when a disgruntled, panicked Shadow knocked down my door and yelled, "TAILS!!!! WE NEED TO TALK!!!"

I jumped and ran to the door.

"What do you want? AND WHY IS MY DOOR ON THE FLOOR?!?"

Shadow replied, breathing heavily, he asked, "Has Sonic showed any sign of being depressed, suicidal, or having suicidal thoughts?"

I paused to think for a second, then started to speak. "Not that I know of."

Shadow looked relieved and sank down on my couch. "But, just to make sure, can you call Sonic for me?"

"Sure thing! But...Why?" I asked. Shadow's request sounded weird.

"Well, I searched up 'Dissociative Identity Disorder' and it said that symptoms can include suicidal thoughts and behaviors." Shadow explained.

"Oh...okay." I didn't know what to think about this but I pulled out my communicator and called Sonic anyways. It rang for a few seconds before a cheery voice spoke.

"Yo Tails! What's up?" Shadow and I sighed in relief. 

"Um...Shadows here and he wants to talk to you." 

"Oh... what does that son of a bi**h want from me?" Sonic asked, sounding angry.

"Sonic! Please don't swear!" I asked. I hate it when Sonic swore in front of me. 

"Sorry, bro... Anywho! What does Shadow want?" Sonic asked again. The word 'Shadow' was spat out by Sonic.

"I don't know. But I'll give you to him if that's okay with you." I said hesitantly.

"Fine...hand me over." Sonic said glumly. I handed the communicator to Shadow. Shadow shot me a look and I took that as my cue to leave the room. 

As I left, I heard Sonic yelling, "WHAT DO YOU WANT? YOU'VE BROKEN MY HEART TWICE ALREADY!!" 

Sonic's POV

"WHAT DO YOU WANT? YOU'VE BROKEN MY HEART TWICE ALREADY!!" I yelled, wiping tears out of my eyes. I'm so glad I wasn't near civilization. You could probably hear me for miles. I have big lungs.

"I just wanted to talk to you. No need to bite my head off." Was all Shadow said. And he said it calmly.

"There IS a need to bite your head off!! I LOVE you and you just HAD to tell me you HATED me and you just HAD to make me confess my BIGGEST SECRET to the WHOLE SCHOOL!!"

"Well, about that... um... some guys caught it on camera-" Shadow started.

"THEY WHAT?" I yelled.

"And they may have posted it on youtube..." Shadow said hesitantly. It sounded as if he was scared of what would happen if he continued.

"WHAT?!?" I practically screamed, past the boiling point.

"And...um...the video may have..." Shadow said in a small voice. I smiled at the image of Shadow's ears flattened in my head.

"MAY HAVE WHAT?" I yelled, forgetting my previous delight.

"Um...the video may have quite a few veiws already..."

"WHAT?" I screamed. I looked down the hill I was standing on and saw a city. "Oh no..." I whispered.

"What?" Shadow asked, clearly intrigued.

"Nothing. Goodbye." I said bitterly. Then I hung up. Ugg...I need a coffee or something. I thought, noticing the city below me and running towards it.

I ran to Center Street and stopped, expecting the usual. As I predicted, people immediately stopped what they were doing and starred. Not only that but kids and adults alike ran up to me and asked for my autograph, while girls and some boys ran towards me fangirling. I groaned inwardly and raised my hand for silence. Even though they loved me, they knew to respect me.

"Hey people," I said sorta glumly. "I'm not in the mood for autographs or anything today. Leave me alone please." After I spoke, I felt a little guilt at the saddened faces of children with papers and pens. "But maybe later?" I added a little hastily. Everyone's faces lit up at this and they respected me by backing away and continuing their daily lives, occasionally sneaking glances at me. 

I smiled, then walked to the nearest cafe resuming my previous angry, scared, and betrayed feelings. I walked in and found a table all to myself. Those who weren't outside stared at me while children came up to me, begging for autographs and attention. Again, I shooed them away and stared blankly at the picture of a mug of coffee on the wall.

"Um...how can I help you, sir?" A voice asked. I snapped out of my trance and whipped around to face her. 

She looked surprised and I said, "Sorry. You scared me, that's all!" 

"No...no. I just can't believe I'm talking to Sonic the Hedgehog!" The waiter said, her face lighting up. 

I looked up at her and said, "If you're looking for an autograph I'm not doing them today." Her face fell, but only for a second. She hid her disappointment with a cheerful smile. "Oh! It's okay. Anywho, I'm Kate the Cat and I'll be your waitress this afternoon. Are you ready to order?" 

"Uh..." I said and looked down at the menu in front of me and found the most appealing to me. "I'll just have your Vanilla Latte." 

Kate jotted my order down and asked, "Anything else sir?"

"No. That's all, thanks." I said. 

She took my menu and said, "I'll be right back with your order!" I said nothing but instead nodded. 

While I waited, I resumed staring at the picture of coffee thinking about past events. Cinos kissing Shadow, Shadow shoving me away... the trip to the principal's office, Shadow's life-saving story, Shadow kissing me...the fight in the lunchroom, Shadow making me reveal my biggest secret... Shadow's call.

I broke out of my thoughts and said, "Shadow you bastard! Why did you have to break my heart?" 

I then put my head in my hands and sat there until a voice said, "Mr. Sonic Hedgehog? Your Vanilla Latte is ready."

"Thanks." I muttered without looking up. "Just set it on the table." My sharp ears pick up a soft thump signifying that Kate set my Latte on the table as well as the sound of a windchime signifying that I have a message. My head shot up at the sound. I pulled out my phone and saw that it was Shadow. I opened the message and read it, then responded. (Left: Shadow, Right: Sonic)

I rolled my eyes and put my phone away then picked up my Latte. I took a sip and felt it warm my body and I smiled. Then I heard another chime. Figuring it was Shadow, I ignored it and continued drinking. Then, ding! Ding! Dingdingdingdingding!

"Ugg." I groaned. I slammed my drink back on the table and pulled my phone out. I looked at it and saw that the messages were from Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. Apparently someone had created a group chat. I picked up my Latte again and drank while answering my texts.

I sighed and looked into my almost empty cup. I felt depressed and didn't want to talk to anyone. But deep down inside, I knew that I needed to talk to someone, I just wasn't ready.

I looked up at the sound of footsteps and saw Kate.

"Hey, Kate." I muttered.

"Hey, Sonic. I just came to give you your bill."

"Okay. Thanks."

Kate set her paper down and I looked at the bill. "4 rings. Not bad." I pulled out my wallet and grabbed 4 rings. I put back my wallet and stood up to leave. Before leaving, I decided to leave my autograph for Kate. It's the least I could do. I pulled out the pen I always keep with me and signed my name.

I finished and put my pen back. I stuck the piece of paper into the bill and left. As if on cue the song 'His World' Started playing. Someone was calling me. (Listen to it. It's a good song!)
