(Yes, I based it off The Little Mermaid, sue me. The video is not mine! This is gonna be long)

A blue merhog sighed, staring longily at a picture he found of two land-dwellers dancing below the lights if a setting sun.

"What's wrong, Sonic?" A two-tailed merfox asked, swimming up besides Sonic.

Sonic sighed again. "I want to go to the surface, Tails..."

"But Sonic, King Posi-" Sonic cut Tails off.

"All the other merhogs want to! They told me!" Sonic exclaimed.

"But-" Tails started.

"Follow me." Sonic interupted again, grabbing Tails' arm and dragging him to his cave.

They entered the cavern full of the things Sonic had collected over the years, including his famed Dinklehopper, something he claimed was for brushing your quills.

Sonic let go of Tails' arm and seam to the middle of the cave.

"Sonic..."

"Look at this stuff Isn't it neat?
Wouldn't you think my collection's complete?

Wouldn't you think I'm the boy?
The boy who has ev'rything?

Look at this trove,
Treasures untold,
How many wonders can one cavern hold?

I've got gadgets and gizmoz aplenty,

Sonic closed his eyes and held his hands to his chest, holding the last note in his song as long as he could. A single tear slid down his cheek (is that even possible?) as he finished the song.

"I-i understand Sonic." Tails whispered, his ears dropping a little. The duo stayed there in silence before Tails spoke again. "I-i can try and help you get to the surface world if it means that much to you..." He offered.

Upon hearing this, Sonic spun around, eyes shooting open. "R-really?" He stammered.

Tails smiled, "Really."

"You're the best friend a merehog could have!" Sonic screamed, swimming as fast as he could to scoop Tails up in a giant, death-gripping, hug. "THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!"

"No.... Problem,.... Sonic!" Tails gasped. "C-can.... you please.... L-let go.... of me? I-i.... Can't..... B-breath!"

Sonic immediately dropped Tails, who started rubbing his neck and gulping in air. "Oh my gosh, Tails! I'm so sorry!"

"I-it's okay!" Tails smiled with no hard feelings, "Should we start getting you to the surface?" Tails asked.

"Of course!" Sonic immediately replied.

Tails smiled. "Great!"

"Well, what are we waiting for? Come on!" Sonic chirped, already swimming towards Tails' workshop.

"Wait up!" The merfox yelled, swimming after his friend.

"Not on your life!" Sonic's distant yell could be heard through the water. Tails sighed and swan faster, attempting to catch up.

~Shadow's POV~

"Sir, you're limosine is ready." I sighed, opening one eyes to see one of my many servants.

"Good." I straightened and briskly strode to the waiting cat, opening a back door and climbing in. I nodded from the back seat and felt the long, black car gently move forward. I closed my eyes, thinking of my family.

I was on my way to visit my mother who has been married for 60 years with my dad. My two brothers are Mephilis and Sades (Hades only with an S), and they're both in a relationship.

Mephilis is dating this chick, Sammy. I've met her once or twice. Sades on the other hand has been married for about a year now. I'm the oldest of the three and I've never found love. I've never even had a crush in my life-

BAM!

"Hey, what's going on?!?" I yelled to the grey badger driving my car.

"Some hotshot driver just ran into us!"

I growled, not noticing the rock flying past us. I heard a sound and looked out my window.

"Bage! What's going on?" I yelled.

"The hotshot made us fall of the cliff!" I panicked, I hadn't thought of bringing my Chaos Emerald! The ground was approching fast.

"Hold on!" I grabbed Bage from the driver's seat and held him in my arms on the back seat as the limosine nose-dived into the ground, landing half in and out of an ocean.

The car jolted to a stop and we say there, shaking on the silence. Bage stared at the driver's seat, the windshield broken, the rocky ground and steering wheel jammed against the seat where he was sitting a minute ago.

"M-master S-shadow... Y-you saved m-my l-life..." Bage whispered, pressing his small body into my pounding heart.

"D-don't mention it, Bage." I replied, as shocked as him.

~Sonic's POV~

"Are you sure this will work?" I asked Tails through the thing land dwellers call 'glass'.

Tails looked at me. "Positive." Then he turned around and began filling the syringe. (The mer-people have a lot of stuff like we do, they just don't know it)

"Get ready," Tails turned to face me and wiped off my shoulder. "This might hurt."

"O-okay... G-go ahead..." I tightly closed my eyes, bracing myself. I hated needles of any kind. I gasped as I felt the tip dig into my skin.

"It's almost over... And done!" Tails swam backward, smiling. I lifted my head and smiled back.

"Thank you so mu-AH!" I shouted out in pain.

"What's wrong?" Tails frantically swam around me.

"I-i don't know!" It felt like someone had stabbed me right below my waist and had torn my tail in half. It honestly looked that way too. Tails floated there in shock, watching me undergo this transformation. I screamed out again as the pain grew worse. All of a sudden, it stopped, and I could breath normally again.

Just one problem. I couldn't. I tried to filter oxegen through the water to my gills, bet I couldn't! All I could feel was cold water gushing into my mouth and down my throat. In what felt like slow-mo, I touched the sides of my neck. No gills. I looked down at my legs. My vision was blurry, my eyes hurt, but I could still see that I had .... Legs, and.... Feet...

The realization hit me like a school of swordfish.

I. Was. Mobiun.

And Mobians can't survive fir long under water. I needed air- and I needed it now.

~Shadow's POV~

"B-bage... Are you okay?" I asked, shaking the driver. His head shot up at my touch and nodded, his eyes unfocused after he -quite literally- face-planted. "Good." I stood up and brushed myself off. "I'm going to clean my arm off in the ocean. That rock really got me good."

"Okay, sir. Good luck, sir."

I nodded and briskly strided to the waters edge, taking off my right glove and dipping it into the water. I let it soak before taking the dripping glove and pressing it against my wound. After a few long minutes, I sighed and decided to wash my face.

I shivered, the water was freezing! But I still pushed through, going so far as to open my eyes. But what I saw wasn't what I expected.

The water was crystal clear, and the ocean floor was flat for about a yard until it suddenly fell into a sheer cliff!

And at the bottom, something a deep, colbalt blue slowly grew bigger and bigger, until it reach my eye level.

I thusted my head out of the water and stared at the figure leaping out of the water. It stayed in the air for what felt like forever, billows of water flying in all directions, emerald green eyes, royal blue fur, slender form.... Everything.

It was during that moment, my heart pumped faster than it's ever gone before, my face flushed red, my nose hot from the blood gushing out, I knew, this was the one.

This slim, beautiful figure, dancing above the waves, arms outstretched, legs close together for an elegant departure into the chaotic water- it was incredible..... I've finally found my true love...
