IX. Fight With Plua

I drop to one knee and bow my head.

"Hello Un- My Lord." I said.

"Just Poseidon is fine," he said, "Come on stand up."

I stood up and looked at him. I had no idea what to do.

     "Um-"

"So, you're looking for Plua?" he asked.

     "Plua?"

     "My son."

     "Son?"

He sighed. "The cyclops that killed your mother, boy."

"Oh." I said. When I realized what that meant, I jumped, ready to fight. "I'm sorry, Poseidon. He may be your son, but I'm not going to stop."

He smiled, "Don't worry." he said, "He has turned against me and the gods anyway. It's wise to take care of him."

     "So . . . . you're okay with it?"

     "No problem."

I loosened up just stood there.

"Come on, I'll take you to him." Poseidon said.

He walked towards me, actually, past me and then plunged right into the water and disappeared. I just stood there, not knowing what I was supposed to do. Then, Poseidon's head popped up from the surface of the water.

"What are you waiting for?" he said, "Come on in."

     "In the water?"

     He nodded.

I took baby steps all the way to the edge of the dock. He is the god of the seas, so I should trust him when it comes to water, I thought. I leaned forward and fell into the water with a loud splash! When I was underwater, I almost couldn't believe what was happening. I could breathe! I inhaled and exhaled over and over again until I got used to it.

"Why were you afraid at first." Poseidon said as he swam toward me.

I blushed. "I-I don't know how to swim." I admitted.

He chuckled. "Don't worry about it." then he began swimming away.

I did what I saw on TV and flapped my leg, trying to move forward. Surprisingly, it worked. I was propelled forward toward Poseidon. I didn't want to seem disrespectful, so I swam behind him.

When he came to a stop, I stopped flapping my legs.

     "We're here." he said .

He began swimming swimming toward the surface and I followed behind. When our heads were out of the water, I looked around. I know one thing for sure. We weren't in New York anymore. We were in a lake next to a torn down house. I couldn't see inside since I was still n the lake.

Poseidon got out of the water and I followed. As we walked toward the house, I felt a strange presence coming for the torn down house. Oh no, I'm sorry. I meant familiar.

I took out Lightning and yelled, "Plua!"

"You just have fun here, and I'll leave you to take care of things." Poseidon said as he dissolved into water and poured into the lake.

     "Thanks." I said.

Suddenly, it felt like an earthquake was currently taking place. A familiar ugly face popped from the torn down house and began walking toward me. Anger soared throughout my whole body and I immediately charged.

Plua's eye was still closed, which made things easier for me. At least I thought.

When I was about five feet away from him, I jumped with Lightning aiming at his stomach. But before I had jumped, he had swung his right arm at me. He knocked me to the left in midair. I landed on my feet and went around him. As I circled around him, he kept on turning as if he could see where I was going. Then I realized he couldn't see me, but smell me.

A crazy idea popped into my head. If this didn't work then I would've went through the embarrassment for nothing.

I took off my shirt and wrapped it around Lightning.. Then I charged at him. When I was a few feet from him, I hit my sword on the ground so that he could think it was me. Then I dashed left and threw Lightning right. As I thought, he went after Lighting. He put his hands together and swung them at my shirt, leaving himself wide open. In a few seconds, Lightning disappeared and appeared around my neck. I quickly took him out again and charged. When I was in striking distance, I thrust my blade through his stomach, making him roar in pain. Then I ran around him with my blade still in him.

He dissolved into a pile of golden dust. I halted and caught my breath as I watched in disbelief.

When I felt like I was okay, I went over and picked up my shirt.

"That was a smart plan. You're worthy to be Athena's son."

I looked at my right to find Beth leaning against a wall that still stood.

I blushed when I realized that my shirt was still off. I quickly put it on and turned my attention back at her.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I prayed to Athena and she got me a ride." she said.

I sighed and walked over to the edge of the pond. It looked normal now. No secret underwater tunnel that lead back to New York.

"May I speak to you guys."

I looked behind me to find a man standing a few feet from me. He had golden hair hair and shiny white teeth that could blind you. Literally. He wore a white t-shirt and blue jeans with white sneakers.

"Hello there," the man said, "I'm Apollo."

I saw Beth immediately drop to one knee, so I did the same.

     "Hello, Lord Apollo." she said.

"Stand up, we're wasting time." Apollo said.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"Hundreds of more cyclopes are coming after you." he said as he turned to face me.

     "Why?" I asked.

"That's a really dumb question to ask right now." he said, "Get up."

Beth and I rose. He gestured us to come closer. We both went and stood in front of him.

"You two have to get away from here. Hide wherever you can," he said, "A war is going on at the moment."

"What are talking about?" Beth asked.

"It's the cyclopes," he said, "We gods had completely forgotten about them, thinking that they wereb't a match for us and we thought that they would never rebel against us. Unfortunately, the have and they're stronger. They have been working with with Gaea this whole time right under our noses. They risen far above what we expected.

"And you two, since you're the only ones out of Camp Half-Blood, are the key to our survival. You two need to run and hide until farther instructions, okay? If you guys stay safe, the prophecy will succeed and the gods will live on."

     Prophecy? I thought.

"What kind of joke is this?" I asked with a nervous laugh.

Then I realized that his face expression was serious. Okay, so he's definitely not kidding.

"Understand?" he continued, "I have to go keep holding them back before they destroy Olympus. And don't return back to Camp Half-Blood. They surrounded the camp and no one can go in our out. Bye, now. And good luck."

     Suddenly, he began to glow.

     "Jake! Look away!" Beth yelled.

I quickly covered my face and turned around.

When Beth said it was okay to look, I turned back around to find that Apollo was nowhere to be seen.

"He wasn't joking, was he?" Beth asked.

     I shook my head.

All of a sudden, the ground began to shake.

     "They're after us." Beth said.

"Run!" I yelled as she and I sprinted the opposite way the sound came from.

After a few minutes of running, the sound decreased and the thundering on the ground began to fade.

Beth and I stopped to catch out breath.

"Huh huh huh," I panted, "Where do we go?"

      She shook her head.

"We need to find a way to rest, get food, and keep on going," she said, "I think Athena already knew about this because she told me that she has food east of where we were. She said that stay out of danger's way."

"And which way were we running?" I asked.

"Let's just hope it's east." she said.

She returned to running and I followed her.

Several minutes later, my legs began to get really sore.

     "See anything yet?" I asked.

     She shook her head.

I rushed ahead of her and squinted my eyes look closer. An image of a town began forming.

     "I see something!" I yelled.

     "Where?" she asked.

     I pointed up ahead.

"Come on then, slow poke." she said as she ran even further ahead of me.

"Hey!" I yelled as I struggled to keep up.
