Thirty-Six
As Athanasia and Olwyn entered Xogrecyre, Athanasia devised a plan. "Olwyn, you go get Hadley. She should be somewhere outside the prison building, okay? I contacted her and told her to get Perseus's kids and wait there."
Olwyn nodded. "Got it."
"And, Olwyn?" Athanasia called after the other demon.
Olwyn gazed back at Athanasia.
"I'm sorry for being so hard on you," Athanasia apologized.
Olwyn nodded before rushing off.
Athanasia then watched Olwyn go for a little bit, before sprinting up the stairs.
Olwyn stalked around the building. She knew she had limited time to find Hadley. She was also aware that she could be caught and sentenced for treason if she wasn't careful.
Finally, Olwyn came to a halt. "Are you Hadley Bjelovuk?" She asked the little girl who stood protectively in front of a group of kids.
Hadley backed up a little, nervously.
Olwyn raised her hands. "It's okay. Athanasia sent me."
"Who are you?" Hadley asked.
"My name is Olwyn. I'm a friend." She paused before saying, "I want to get you and your friends somewhere safe. But I can't do that if you don't trust me. Hadley, do you trust me?"
Hadley looked back to Perseus's children for reassurance.
A few of them nodded to her.
Hadley looked back to Olwyn. She nodded and softly said, "Yes."
"Good." Olwyn paused before continuing, "When I open this rift, you and your friends will go through. I want you kids to run and don't look back, okay?"
"Okay," Hadley responded.
Olwyn took a deep breath, opening a rift that would lead to New York City. "Go," she commanded the kids.
Hadley and the group rushed though.
One of the kids, who Olwyn believed to be named Avalon, smiled to Olwyn. "Thank you."
She smiled back. "You're welcome."
Avalon then headed through the rift to join the rest of the group. It closed behind her.
"What do we have here?" Volrath Silreden's voice echoed omniously behind Olwyn.
Olwyn whipped around.
Volrath and Valmog both approached her, smug grins on their faces.
"A traitor," Valmog said.
"I don't want any trouble here," Olwyn said, raising her hands again, this time defensively. She hoped to de-escalate the situation.
Valmog said nothing, he just lunged forward burying his knife in Olwyn's lower abdomen.
Olwyn gasped in shock before collapsing to the ground.
Valmog dropped his knife, laughing. "Since I killed that vampire bitch in the Prizrak Realm, I've been waiting so long to send someone else to Xuviphas…"
Olwyn tried to hold onto her remaining strength. She reached for the knife that Valmog had dropped and grasped onto it. "If I'm going to Xuviphas, …I'm taking your dumbass with me." Olwyn plunched the knife through Valmog's throat.
Valmog's eyes grew wide before he fell to the side, dead.
Olwyn relaxed a little. She hoped Athanasia would at least be proud of her efforts. Olwyn had already died once, but yet the second time seemed to be much more terrifying than the worst. One single tear came to her eye before it dripped down to the side. Olwyn closed her eyes, willingly letting the coldness take her over.
Volrath laughed a little. "At least that's one less traitor to worry about. Though, it sure does suck that Valmog died."
"What? Like you'll do?" Agnar Geirsson's voice called out behind Volrath.
Volrath froze up, not able to move even the slightest bit.
Agnar reached for the dagger hanging from his belt before chucking it and watching it to clean through Volrath's skull.
Volrath fell to the ground.
And just like that General Volrath Silreden was dead.

Athanasia entered the building, running toward the desk of Clazithos. "Claz."
Clazithos looked up. "What do you want?" He sounded annoyed.
Athanasia pulled a face. "You se-" She was cut off.
"I've heard about your betrayal to monsterkind," Clazithos explained.
"I haven't betrayed monsterkind," Athanasia began to explain.
"Oh?" Clazithos began. "Then enlighten me, Miss Nyqvist. What have you done?"
She ignored that question. "I need you to open the doors to the cells."
"Go in yourself," Clazithos said with slight snark.
"You know sure as hell as I do that I can't just teleport or rift into there," Athanasia said. She paused before continuing. "Clazithos, please. Just listen to me. I need your help."
"Why should I help you?" Clazithos questioned.
"I know we're nothing alike. But, we do have common interest in a certain siren. If Xisuthros is freed he'll hurt Zephyria. And I know you don't want that to happen," Athanasia inched closer.
Clazithos sighed before pressing the button, opening the large, scorched double doors to the prison wing. "Go. Before I change my mind."
"Thank you, Clazithos." Athanasia then sprinted through the doors.
Athanasia raced toward the corridor, her heart beating in her ears. No matter what, she had to keep calm. Finally, she reached Zephyria's cell. She took a deep breath as she kicked the door in.
"Athan?" Zephyria called out to the Swedish demon, surprised.
Athanasia rushed to the chair and used her dagger to cut the ropes off.
"What's going on?" Zephyria asked, concerned.
"One word: Xuviphas," Athanasia told the Siren Queen.
The ropes and binds that had kept Zephyria confined to the chair fell to the side.
Athanasia held a hand out to Zephyria. "You position in this cell is being terminated."
Zephyria hesitated before grabbing Athanasia's hand and being pulled up. "You're freeing me?"
"Why is that so hard to believe, Zeph? I hid Aisara for you, didn't I?" Athanasia smiled a toothy grin.
Zephyria smiled back to Athanasia.
Athanasia then led the siren out of the cell and into the large corridor.
The ground shook beneath them.
"Come on! We've got to go!" Athanasia continued to keep a hold on Zephyria's hand.
Zephyria asked, "To where? Where are going?" She had stopped.
Athanasia turned to face Zephyria. She could see the fear behind her eyes. That was odd. Athanasia had never truly seen the Queen of all Sirens so terrified.
"Come on. I can take you to Lukyan," Athanasia said.
"You know where he is?" Zephyria inquired.
Athanasia nodded. "Yes. I know where he is."
"If you knew where Lukyan was the whole time, then why didn't you tell Lucifer?" Zephyria asked, perplexed by the demon's actions–or rather her lack of actions.
Athanasia bit her lip, sighing. "Well, I didn't tell him, because he's your son. I didn't tell him because…" She trailed off. Dammit. Why does this whole "confession" bullshit have to be so hard to do? "...Because… I l-love you." She blurted out. Athanasia immediately regretted it.
Zephyria raised an eyebrow. "You love me?"
Athanasia gulped. "Y-yeah."
Zephyria continued to keep her eyebrow raised. "Are you sure you're not under my spell?"
Athanasia responded with,"No. I'm not under your spell. I'm- I'm genuinely in love with you. I've- I've been in love with you for two-thousand years."
"Wow, uh, I'm flattered-" Zephyria began to say. She hesitated a little before taking a deep breath. She perched forward, her lips crashing against Athanasia's.
Athanasia was surprised, but didn't pull away. She just kissed her back.
This continued for a couple of minutes.
They pulled away, their breath warm on each other's faces.
Clapping filled the room.
"Wow! Encore!"
Zephyria and Athanasia looked over to see none other than Satan himself.
"Perseus opened Xuviphas," he said. "Oh and your little friend, Olwyn or whatever, is dead."
Both Zephyria and Athanasia's hearts sunk.
The ground shook again, shadows rushing back and forth through the room.
Satan chuckled. "What did I tell you?... Xuviphas." He paused. "I have another task for you, Nyqvist," Satan began to say. "I need you to kill Miss Xenakis. She'll just get in the way. You can do that now since Xuviphas is open."
Athanasia turned to face Zephyria, pulling a the dagger from her belt. She swallowed.
"That's it," Satan encouraged.
Athanasia could practically see the fear in Zephyria's eyes. She sighed. She turned to face Satan. "No."
"Excuse me what?" Satan began. "I could've sworn you just told me no."
"I did. I won't do it."
Satan rolled his eyes, scoffing. "What? Do you 'love' her or some stupid shit like that?"
Athanasia swallowed once again. "Yes. I do love her." She stepped in front of Zephyria, facing Satan, in a defensive position.
"She's poisoned your brain. She has mind-fucked you! How have you not seen that yet, Nyqvist!" Satan cried out.
"Shut up," the Swedish demon growled.
"How could you love her? I mean look at her! She's a whore!" Satan shouted.
Athanasia angrily snarled before lunging straight at Satan and engaging in combat with him.
Satan had pulled out his own sword to fight.
The two fought for who knows how long as the cracks in the ground only began to grow.
Athanasia swung her blade at Satan, slashing at his face, just knowing it would scar.
Satan howled out in pain.
The two went at it some more.
Satan threw one of his blades at Zephyria, just narrowly missing her face.
She shrieked with terror.
Athanasia gazed at Zephyria long enough to open a portal behind her and shout, "Go!"
Satan thrust his sword forward, right as Athanasia did that. His sword impaled her right under the rib cage.
Athanasia coughed up blood, her eyes wide.
"No!" Zephyria shouted.
"What a shame," Satan said. "You always were the most loyal. Oh well." He yanked out his blade, making Athanasia fall backwards right into Xuviphas.
Satan's gaze locked onto Zephyria as he began to charge.
Zephyria then turned away, jumping straight into the portal Athanasia had opened. The portal closed behind her.
Satan then swung at the air angrily. He then screamed.
Kzorvas raced down the hallway, avoiding the growing chasms. "My liege, it's your son."
"What about Agnar?" Satan questioned, furious about his loss of the Siren Queen.
Kzorvas swallowed. "He's betrayed you."
