Mortal Coil
How had they ended up in this situation? Artemis slowly trailed behind the man that she had fallen in love with. She kept a close eye on his back, the way that his shoulders moved and swayed with the muscles of his entire body in a perfect rhythm got her thinking about things that weren't exactly appropriate to be thinking about in their situation.
The two of them had such little power that they were instead parading around as mortals in a world where it was common knowledge that the Gods were thriving. It was a time paradox that they were stuck in where Artemis' even colder and far more ruthless of herself was the top dog of Hunting and because of Death's stupid trap, far more powerful that the modern Artemis.
All Percy had available to him was his loud mouth axes, she doubted he had any creationary power available and she could already tell that he had little destructive power at all. How much strength he would be able to conjure as the King of Asgard was another story. The though of Armageddon making an appearance had also occurred to her. She wasn't sure how well that would go down, especially if they were surrounded by other Gods. He'd probably demand his own seat on the council.
"Screw Alucard, screw Ten, especially screw those damn Horsemen, but most of all, screw this damn heat! I'm Norse, not some other culture of the desert climates!" Percy shouted in frustration as he swathed away some sand that had been kicked up around him.
"What, like Greek? That 'culture' that your other half is a God of?" Artemis asked him with a raised brow.
"Other half as in?" Percy queried, unsure of whether she'd meant herself or Armageddon, as they were both actually his other half, just in different ways.
"Either, both, does it matter? We're both Greek, to some extent at least, so stop whining, I doubt the idiot would complain this much." She sighed heavily. Percy had been fairly non stop about the heat for the hours that they'd been in the past. They were both marching away from the city of Troy. Percy had wanted to just wait it out and see who would come to their side, if that was even a possibility. If it wasn't, then they'd have to 'wait out' the whole of history anyway.
With a flash of purple light that ended in his eyes, Percy stood with a confused look on his face, "Wha- where am I? And why is it so god damn hot around here?" Armageddon wheezed, shielding his eyes from the sun as he looked skywards.
"Dear anti-christ of Olympus! Who the fuck gaze Apollo a crate of Red-Bull!?" He almost fell to his knees when he saw how glaringly bright the sun was. A flash of platinum was the sure sign that Percy had returned.
"You really think that Armageddon would be mature in a situation where he could get away with ANY whining? That's the first he's said in a while and now he's silent again." Percy groaned internally. He finally gave a small glance towards his fiancé. She seemed far more complacent as of recently and he wasn't quite sure why.
"What?" The sands were once again swept skywards with even the smallest of breezes that gently yet gracefully flowed towards them.
"We're stuck in the past, damn near powerless with only each other to rely on in order to get out of this sticky situation, I just think it's got the potential to be a little romantic, don't you think?" She asked him with the faintest beginnings of a smile working its way across her pink lips.
Percy regarded her cautiously for a second or two, "I think it's got the potential to be a bloody nightmare." He smirked, seeing the pout she'd given him. It didn't last long though as he quickly pulled her towards him and planted a chaste kiss on her lips.
"But whether its a nightmare or a walk through the park, we'll be going through it together and that's all I really care about." He smiled genuinely, resting his face in the crook of her neck. He sensed her initial surprise but only nestled further when he felt a hand on the back of his head.
"Of course we will. We're the ones who have to lead by example after all. Now, do you have any idea how we're going to get through this, my KING?" She whispered in his ear as the two of them were still firmly within each other's grasp.
It seemed like time stood still for a few seconds as that word rang through Percy's head. "Never in my life have I needed something so much and never known until I received it." He basically spoke to himself as he continued to hear Artemis' almost teasing voice call him her King.
"But no... I really don't have any idea how we're going to get out of this little... Trip through time." He grinned, feeling proud of himself, though it was evident from the look on Artemis' face that she had no idea what he was going on about.
"Why did you emphasize that last part?" She asked, looking more confused with his antics than normal. She would have initially worried about their unique situation but at the lowest of his power as he was claiming, he could still easily summon and banish Baninir and Yggdrasil, whether they were truly parts of his soul or not, they couldn't come and go without some use of his power.
"I don't know, I just got the strangest feeling that it needed to be said. Either way, my point still stands, I don't have a backup plan or anything. I don't think Death has control over time which is unfortunate because it means that Father Time himself might be aiding them and in turn Abaddon. I don't see us being able to get out of here unless someone specifically comes to get us." Percy shrugged. In the distance they could just about still see the outline of Troy's great walls poking above the horizon. They'd come pretty far but with no destination it was benign.
"The King of Asgard has no idea how to get us out of this predicament?" She asked, folding her arms with a raised eyebrow. The silver Goddess didn't quite believe that they'd already exhausted all of their options.
"Well yeah, I mean, doing anything on the Asgardian side of things would be pretty fruitless. We don't even have a God of time. We dabbled with time alchemy but it didn't really get us anywhere. Besides, in this age we Aesir are at war with the Vanir. I'd rather not accidentally re-write my own history." He chuckled dryly. How long were they going to be stuck in the past? Thinking about it,Percy doubted that the Horsemen would be dim enough to simply send him to the past, they'd probably stuck him in an infinite loop so as to completely trap him within the confines of time.
Before they could further discuss it, an erosive flash of bright green light filled their vision, temporarily blinding Artemis who'd been looking in that direction. Standing in the middle of their path was a beautiful woman with short blonde hair. "You do not belong in this world, so who are you. You who defies the strands of fate?"
"You're one of the fates? I am... Pleasantly surprised." Percy hummed to himself, completely caught off by how SHE could possibly be one of the fates.
"What makes you say that?" She asked, cocking her head to the side slightly. Her long bright white toga flowed in perfect motion from where her shoulders had slightly rolled with her head.
"Percy, don't." Artemis warned him almost silently. She realized that having been in a crap mood for hours on end he wasn't about to be respectful to pretty much anyone. He was cranky and so was Armageddon which served to only worsen the situation.
"In my time, you're a bunch of total hags. Seriously, you'd be the top contenders for a divine version of undateables." He told her with a smug grin, absolutely no sarcasm present in his tone.
"You dare mock one of the fates?" She continued to just stare at him, unaware of what sort of creature had the brass to do that to someone as ancient as herself.
"Well, the whole bunch, but yeah, more or less." The King of Asgard shrugged carelessly. Right beside him, Artemis was torn between feeling a cold sweat of dread pass down her spine and the hot flush of humour that was threatening to break out across her face.
"Who do you think you are to insult those who could kill you with a single thought?" The Fate growled, glaring at him through a narrowed gaze of growing malice.
"Perseus Jackson, son of Odin, current King of Asgard, Champion of Chaos, look, there's like WAY too many titles to list off, all you need to know is that you literally can't kill me." His smirk only grew with each passing word as it became obvious to the Fate that his words weren't poultry and that actually he more than likely was holding enough power to erase her from existence fairly easily.
"And you, the impersonator of Lady Artemis?" She suddenly brought her attention over to the soon to be Queen of Asgard.
"I AM Artemis, just from a long time from now." The silver Goddess waved away the question as if it was nothing. It would take way too much time for her to truly explain what was going on.
"You're not going to tell her about the-" Percy quietly turned to her with raised brows.
"No." Artemis didn't even look at him, there was no chance that she was telling one of the fates that she was the fiancé of the King of Asgard.
"Ok." He responded, stifling his laugh as he did so.
"Good boy." Artemis told him, winking out of the corner of her eye. He could have taken it upon him to start flirting with him.
"Don't push it, milady." Percy growled playfully. He'd actually forgotten that he was in the presence of one of the fates that would definitely remember his behaviour some thousand years down the line.
"You still do not belong here. Your mere presence may completely disrupt the fate of the future." It was obvious that the Fate standing before them was starting to get irritated with how completely nonchalant Percy was being, especially as he was basically ignoring her.
"Yeah, I got the concept, you're useless to me." Percy laughed before snapping his fingers.
"What did you just do?" Artemis turned on her heel, worry in her eyes. It wouldn't be the first time that he'd started a war by complete accident.
"Completely erased her memories of us and made us completely undetectable. Shame, that really was the last of my power though, I can only do the equivalent of party tricks now." Percy shrugged his shoulders slightly before kicking the sand at his feet. He was completely over this trip through time and desperately wanted to be in his throne instead of under a glaring sun while he effectively had the strength of a mortal.
"You could still do all of that with the strength you had left?" She was pretty surprised. She should have known by this point just how much her fiancée was capable off.
"That and looked into our own time-stream." He whispered so quietly that it took her entire seconds to fully process what she'd actually heard.
"You did what!?" She demanded.
"Nah, I'm joking, I wouldn't do that even if I could. It'd take the fun out of everything and I would definitely prefer my life to be spontaneous when I'm making love to my wife." He winked before resuming his march into the distance away from the city. There he'd gone and done it again making her blush furiously.
He was also stirring a storm within her that she was completely unable to prevent, and she wasn't sure it was a good thing.
