Chapter 6: The Friendly Giant

Annabeth's POV:

Once we got down the cliff my vision was returning and I didn't need my seeing eye Thalia as I could see the silver glow of Iapetus leading the way down here.

I have no clue where he was running to but I had to trust the piercer now just like we had to trust him in the battle of Manhattan. Which admittedly is both easy and hard considering the war last year.

He kept leading us and the cliff walls got smaller and eventually spread out opening into what I'm going to call swamp. "Why the cliff jump" Thalia asked

"Because it's quicker and our enemies wouldn't dare jump down there" Iapetus informed. Which just made me question our choice in doing so. "Besides it would provide us cover from those chasing us." Now that I could agree with for reasoning.

"Who's chasing us" I asked as we enters the swamp and our running speed slowed to make sure we wouldn't miss step in this place.

"Oh just your enemies above that were already sent down here" Iapetus said, Percy started glowing a harsh silver color, much harsher than Iapetus, which was more of a calming silver.

I hope that means Perseus stopped being a pussy and decided on helping himself and Percy.

"Wait a minute. Why am I jumping" Thalia said and starts floating herself.

I rolled my eyes at her adamantly childish antics.

"We're almost there" Iapetus said placing a hand on Thalia's shoulder and making her use her legs.

Thalia pouted at having to use her legs to move around.

Despite Thalia's pouting at having to use her legs through the swamp, like she's never used her legs before, we came up to see a hut that had smoke coming out of a chimney and the hut was white like bone but also colorful too

"RRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR"

"Well that sounds like it wants to kill us" Thalia deadpaned

"Don't worry. It just means he's close" Iapetus said

Yeah totally not worrying as what sounds like a drakon is roaring presumably at us.

Line break: hehhehhehehehe

You know how I guessed it was a drakon roaring. Yeah well turns out I was right and I hate myself for it. But to make it all the better it isn't just any drakon. It's the Maeonian Drakon. The only one that has only been killed by an immortal and a giant at that, the bane of ares. But his name is eluding me.

"So either run for the hut made of what looks like bone or fight a drakon" Thalia said

"No no general. We stay here. It is safe here" Iapetus said.

Suddenly I heard a crack like a tree falling in a forest and then the drakon was blindsided as it was impaled by a tree. "See told you it was safe here" Iapetus said while Thalia looked shocked and disappointed.

"Iapetus what are you doing here" the being that killed the drakon asked as he went over to its corpse and collected a few things.

"I need help" he said

"Down here?"

"Please. You're the only one. Gorgons blood is beyond my abilities" Iapetus sounded like he was pleading

"Why should I"

"If not for me for my granddaughter please brother" Iapetus pleaded, "plus I'm pretty sure it will piss off mom and your father" the titan added as an after thought

The giant seemed to ponder this. "Fine" the giant said and lead us inside.

The inside of his hut was surprisingly homey all things considered. "Thank you Damasen" Iapetus said

My brain turned its gears as I realized this is the giant meant to oppose Ares. Quite ironic if you ask me that the war god's opposition is a pacifist that believes in violence only to protect oneself and the innocent.

Though I'm still off put because we are supposed to be enemies. Just like how I'm still a little nervous with Iapetus given the whole Titan thing.

"Come on demigods. Let's get inside so we can heal that friend of Iapetus" Damasen instructed leading us inside.

Time skip: Hello. Is it me you're looking for

I watched as Damasen prepared some sort of stew with the Drakon meat and whatever else he had around here. I was intrigued what he was making but he force fed Percy some and then gave us two bowls of the stew and said we should eat and get some rest when we could.

I'll admit I was more hesitant than Thalia who practically just drank the bowl of stew before grabbing onto Percy and cuddling him. But given Iapetus' trust of this giant and the hospitality shown I ended up eating before joining Thalia and Percy for cuddles. Hoping that when I wake up that Percy will be ok.
