Chapter 16: The fall
Annabeth's POV:
Once the smoke cleared a little the rest of the seven, Nico (an: Nico jumped to get away from the scolding from Bianca), and Thalia flew inside.
"Secure the statue and tapestries" I shouted at them. The Argo shot down ropes which latched onto the statue of the crafts goddess where Nico, Hazel, Frank, and Leo made sure it was secured while Jason and Piper went around securing the tapestries.
The only bad thing was that the floor was crumbling. Dammit Arachne and I both made miscalculation and now we'd be heading to Tartarus if we didn't get up on the ship. I was tempted to cut Arachne loose but Percy and Thalia got to me.
"Why is the floor crumbling" Thalia asked
"It's a path way straight to Tartarus. My webs were what held the room together but as you can see, they were need for this elaborate trap I made for myself Arachne" said.
"Oh that's good. Right where we need to go" Perseus said
"What do you mean we" I asked
"Look Annabeth the doors of death need to be closed from both sides, Perc and I already agreed to going" Thalia said.
"You're crazy daughter of Zeus" Arachne said from her prison. Only for the floor to fall from below her trap.
"I don't know if that's karma or bad timing" Thalia stated.
"Are you coming with us or not" Perseus asked
"I" I started only to loose me feet from under me and let out a light scream. I looked down at me feet and saw that I had a string attached to my leg...how did I miss that.
I was being pulled closer and closer to the edge and Perseus and Thalia reached me grabbing my wrist, still looking at me for an answer.
"It doesn't look like I have a choice" I told them. "Plus someone needs to join you two to keep your impulses under control"
After I said that Perseus and Thalia stopped struggling. And we feel into the chasm of the pit, where they started flying, and struggling to pull us out. I was confused until I realized they were putting on an act.
Nico came over to the ledge and looked on in understand. "Lead them Nico" Perseus said. "Lead them to the mortal side. Promise me"
Nico looked at him and promised. With that I felt like we were free falling again and was pulled up into Perseus's and Thalia's arms.
"I love you" I whispered to them as we fell but with how fast we were going I'm not sure if they heard me. I swear if we survive this, not only will I scold them for their decision, but I will also tel them that I love them more. I don't feel like I tell them that enough.
Nico's POV:
I watched as the three strongest demigods I know and probably the strongest demigods ever fell down into a pit where I couldn't even last an hour. When I landed I was near instantly captured, thrown in a jar, and then brought out.
The floor was begging to crumble more and I looked around noticing me fellow demigods were no longer there. I went and grabbed onto the ladder as it was starting to get pulled up.
This was going to be hard to explain, and I know Percy's sisters were probably going to kill me if they didn't break down and start crying first. That's also not mentioning Jason who while irritated by Percy I can tell he still loves his older sister.
The ladder pulled me the rest of the way up and I crawled over the top deck railing.
"Where's Percy, Thalia and Annabeth" Hazel asked the first to notice it was only I who came back up.
Zoë seemed interested at the question but also looked on the verge of tears, as if she already knew.
"They...they fell" I stated, trying to hold back my own emotions as my sass master, Thalia, fell, who's also my cousin, not to mention my other cousin, Percy, and then Annabeth as well, who I guess is also my cousin now...the family tree is fucked up ok.
Zoë had a few tears leak out and the other older hunters went below decks quickly, probably to not be seen as weak as they likely cry for their little brother they helped raise.
"I should have been paying attention" Jason said upset, "I could have"
"You're forgetting all three of them can fly too" I told him. "They were to far in to escape" I told him, hoping he wouldn't do something stupid. Thalia would kill me if I let her little brother get himself killed.
"More of us can go down there and increase their" Piper started.
"No" Zoë stated, sadness and anger clearly evident in her voice. "Whoever goes down there now will just be getting themselves killed. None of you have training from any of the gods themselves, and even if you did, Jason would only just barely stand a chance like they do" she said
"You don't know that" Piper retorted
"SHUT IT. DAUGHTER OF APHRODITE. I HAVE LIVED FOR LONGER THAN MANY OF THE GODS HAVE AND HAVE SEEN MANY HEROES GET THEMSELVES KILLED THINKING JUST LIKE THAT. KNOW YOUR LIMITS AND PLACE" Zoë shouted before flashing off. I extended my sense and could tell she was no longer on the ship.
"Great we just lost our resident goddess. Now how are we going to kill the giants" Travis Stoll asked.
"She's just upset" I said. "She just lost her brother. Give her sometime" I said
"You mean they're dead" Jason asked
"No" I said with finality. "Look we need to get to the mortal side of the doors of death if we want a chance at saving them."
"Where's that" the demigods asked
"At the house of hades." I stated. "Epirus Greece" I added seeing their confusion. Geez will someone give these fools a geography lesson...or at least a lesson of the ancient landmarks.
An: No I will not Mr. Di Angelo. Just be happy I didn't send Will
