Chapter 1: morning of his birthday

I shook my head to get rid of whatever need to sleep that lingered. With a sigh, I got out of bed and got changed. I wore a standard outfit that the hunters wore, which was a white shirt, shiny camo pants, and black combat boots. Unlike most hunters, who wore a silver jacket along with it, I wore a hoodie that had stars on it with the moon on the back of it.

I walked out of my tent only to be tackled to the ground by a small wolf pup. I couldn't help the smile that crossed my face. After a little bit, an older wolf came over and took the puppy while telling it something.

"Do not pounce the young prince. I know you know better than that little one." the older wolf scolded, the younger. "Besides, it's time for breakfast." that made me run to get some breakfast before running back off to my tent, or practicing. Practicing sounds nice right about now.

I walked to the food tent and went inside. I grabbed some leftover meat from the night before and sat down next to Artemis, the woman who saved me and made me her son, who gave me a sad smile.

"Happy birthday Percy," she told me before handing me a nicely wrapped gift.

"Thank you, mom." I smiled at her with sadness in my eyes for a bit.

"Your welcome. Now, after you finish eating you must practice your aim. Wouldn't want one of your friends or sisters to get the upper hand. And before I forget, I need you to come to my tent before dinner tonight," she told me as I nodded my head. After I finished eating, I walked out of the tent.

Percy walked to one of the silver tents. This tent had a picture of an arrow on it. He walked in, heading to the furthest right corner from the entrance. When he got there, he went to grab his bow as he usually did only to stumble slightly when he didn't catch anything. He looked, suddenly paying attention to his surroundings, and noticed that both his bow and quiver were missing.

"That's... odd. Did someone confuse it for theirs?" He wondered out loud. He quickly proved that wrong as he looked up to see 'Perseus Jackson' written above the placement.

He sighed and decided just to walk out and head to the swordplay tent. The tent was very much like the bow storage tent, with the only difference being that this tent had a black sword where the arrow was on the other tent.

He walked in to find Daisy, a child of Hephaestus, tinkering with something as twins Lucy and Luna, children of Hermès, fighting against each other. The son of the moon went unnoticed as he sat down next to Daisy.

"What are you tinkering with?" He asked. This made Daisy jump as she stumbled to hide the item.

"Percy! When did you get here?" She asked in shock, which got the twins' attention.

"Just now. You didn't answer my question." He stated calmly.

"What question?"

"What are you tinkering with?" He asked again.

"Oh... um, it's nothing you need to worry about." She smiled. He gave her a look but sighed.

"Yeah, ok, whatever."

"Hey, Perce! Why don't you spar with me?" Luna asked him. His silverish sea-green eyes shined brightly.

"Sure!" He got up quickly, running to get his sword. As usual, it didn't feel right in his hands, but it was better than nothing at all.

Lucy whispered something to her twin before sitting down next to Daisy with a water bottle.

"First, to lose their sword. You can surrender if need be." She said as she grinned wickedly.

It was no secret that Luna was good with a sword. She was the best when it came to swordplay. She even taught Percy how to use a sword. So this was going to be an exciting fight indeed.
