Chapter 16: I get more strange dreams
Percy's POV:
Dream Percy: Hi peeps, 14, shall not silence me
I noticed I was once again dreaming. However, it feels weird being able to recognize this. It's like having a body but not being able to interact with anything. I wonder if this is how ghosts feel.
I was down in the underworld, at the same dinner table that everyone was the last time I dreamed of this place. I sighed because this is either not good or great.
"Why are they here," Demeter said, scoffing at Nico and Bianca.
Oh, great. Is she trying to get herself killed?
"They already told us, woman," Hades sighed, rubbing his temples.
"Then why are these bastards still here."
"They are my children and demigods," Hades said. "I can't kick them out."
"Should we eat or just" Nico whispered to Bianca.
Persephone leaned over to them, "I don't know, but they are driving me insane too."
"wait," Bianca started, "you don't."
"I don't hate little Nico here," Persephone said, rubbing Nico's head affectionately. "He was very polite when he visited to learn about his powers. You, however, I've yet to decide fully."
"Oh, ok," Bianca said, seeming happy for her brother as most godly step-parents hate or refuse to acknowledge their spouse's kids.
"Daughter, why are you fraternizing with those monstrosities," Demeter said, turning on Persephone, who seems done with the arguing at this point.
"So I shouldn't speak to my half siblings at that camp then, mother," Persephone asked innocently as if she were a five-year-old. And Hades moved next to his kids, defensively.
"What? Whatever could you mean? They are your siblings, my precious Kore," Demeter asked, perplexed.
"Or, why do you even talk to me?" Persephone asked, "I mean, I'm not from your husband after all, right?"
Demeter started glaring at Hades. "that's preposterous, dear," She stated, "you're my child, and they aren't yours."
"So Karmanor should disregard my existence and that of all but two of my siblings."
"What!? No," Demeter said. "He would never do that to you, my sweet Kore."
"SO THEN, WHY SHOULD I DO THAT TO MY STEPCHILDREN? WHEN THEY HAVEN'T SAID OR DONE ANYTHING AGAINST ME NOR THE GOOD OF THE WORLD FOR THAT MATTER," Persephone yelled at her mother.
"Because they are Hades's monstrosities," Demeter said
"Oh, because they belong to Hades," Persephone exasperated. "I guess you want me to disown my own three children as well, then. I mean anything to make my precious mother, who would never let me out of her sight, happy, right," Persephone sassed
"Daughter, there's no need to act that way with me."
"Oh really," Persephone said sarcastically. "Because to me, it sounds like you want me to disown my own children and forego my marriage to a man I love and who makes me happy most days."
Demeter finally turned back to Hades. "YOU TURNED MY PRECIOUS DAUGHTER AGAINST ME"
"He didn't do anything of the sort, mother."
"Really, he kidnapped you."
"I went with him willingly. You just manipulated the story, mother. Literally, everyone but you knew I was leaving with him," Persephone said and stormed out of the room.
"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT HADES" Demeter yelled and stormed off.
It was all silent for a moment before Bianca turned to Hades. "I like her more than you."
"Demeter or Persephone," Hades asked.
"My stepmother. Aunt Demeter is insane," Bianca said
"Why her over... wait, never mind. I understand"
"You still need to go help, father."
"No," Hades stated, pouting like a three-year-old that was told they couldn't have the cookie. "Why should I help? They'll shun me like always"
"They didn't shun us," Nico argued. "However, a few think we are strange, but they still don't treat us differently."
"I still"
"Father, what about Auntie Hestia." Bianca said, "You wouldn't want her hurt, would you?"
"Yeah, and if Olympus falls, it leaves you even more alone, isolated, and weak," Nico added.
"I am not weak, boy," Hades retorted.
"Everyone is weak alone. Olympus is the center of power for all the gods, even you," Bianca countered
"Off to bed with you two," Hades stated. "Now"
My dream started shifting.
I saw the gods battling Typhon over St. Louis and the mortals freaking out about it.
Many buildings were being destroyed, and it looked like the gods weren't a concern for the father of all monsters.
I was being drawn to a new scene again. This time I was back at the Titan's base.
"HOW WERE THOSE WEAKLINGS ABLE TO HOLD" Kronos shouted at many of what I am assuming is his underling command
"Sir, they were dug in," one of them said
"They even blocked off all the tunnels," another added, "We barely made a dent in the blockade in the Lincoln tunnel. The blockade even snuffed out the greek fire."
"That's preposterous. Perhaps you used the wrong fire," another commander said.
"Nope. The plants literally covered up the greek fire and let it burn out the oxygen by smothering it somehow.
"Northern force, why did you fail."
"The Zeus girl, sir" I'm taking it, the northern commander replied. "She's much stronger than we previously thought. She destroyed E company in seconds, even blew up one of the bridges with lightning."
"Sir, perhaps we should give them the gift now. They'll surrender in the coming days," a new titan said, entering the discussion.
"Fine, give them the gift," Kronos ordered.
The new Titan left. "Iapetus and I are still attacking tonight, correct milord," Hyperion asked.
"yes, lest they surrender beforehand."
So Iapetus is going to switch sides tonight, most likely. I hope he does it at the opportune moment.
"Milord, I suggest you rest," Iapetus suggested
"I need no rest," Kronos retorted. "Soon, I shall reach my full strength, and by then, it will be pointless. Now someone get Ethan for me.
Iapetus nodded and went off.
It was only a couple of minutes before the demigod that I recognized as stabbing Annabeth, and am now recognizing as the one I saved in the labyrinth, came before the titan lord, though he was missing an eye.
"You boy," Kronos stated. "Where did you try stabbing the impertinent one last night? He's Poseidon's kid, no matter how much that bitch tries to cover it up". I'm going to kill him...assuming mom doesn't find out and do so first... or my sisters for that matter.
"I'm sorry, milord," Ethan stuttered. "I don't remember. It was in the heat of battle, and I, like the others, was just trying to land a strike."
"Why don't you go get some food and rest and see if that jogs your memory" Kronos stated and waved him off.
Hmmm. He thinks I might have dipped in the Styx. I might be able to use that to my advantage.
I recognized I was starting to wake up and let go of the sleep I was holding onto.
Dream Percy: No me. Don't give me up. It's what 14 wants.
Me: *chuckling* You have no power here, Dream Percy.
