Chapter 15: I'm Going to Kill Them

Thalia's POV:

I made it back to our makeshift headquarters and saw that we had relatively few losses, and those lost were just injured and awaiting medical treatment. Once Kronos announced the end of the battle for the day, his forces hastily retreated.

When I got back, I was expecting to reunite with Percy and Annabeth, but all I got was the hunters nervously pacing and their healers tending to the wounded to distract themselves. "Where's Percy and Annabeth," I asked

"They have yet to return," Clarisse said, "same with Apollo cabin."

Soon a few Apollo cabin members came rushing into the command tent, breathing heavily. "Williamsburg bridge..." they breathed. "Destroyed... Michael dead... Percy and Annabeth stabilized... still out... request Zoë and Thalia to move... them"

"Was the crossover secured?" Clarisse asked

"They didn't get across," the Apollo campers confirmed.

"Phoebe, Clarisse," Zoë called, "come with us to collect Percy and Annabeth."

"It's long, and they both have," Phoebe said

"I'm aware," Zoë said, "come, Thalia," she said, grabbing my hand and dragging me off with Phoebe dragging Clarisse not too far behind.

"What about," Clarisse asked

"The hunt and our siblings can handle the war plans and preparation," Phobe scolded Clarisse. "And perhaps a few of the wisdom goddesses spawn."

The realization hit me as we got closer to the bridge. "They...they're hurt," I mumbled.

"There's nothing you could have done," Zoë stated. "you were on the other side of the city, and they are fine."

"What if they died, and..." Zoë slapped me shutting me up.

"GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF, THALIA." she scolded, "THEY WILL BE FINE AND READY FOR TONIGHT. THEY HAVE SOME OF THE BEST DOCTORS FROM APOLLO IN CENTURIES WATCHING OVER THEM"

Yeah, I shut up. I could tell Zoë was just as worried as I was and didn't need my ADHD thoughts plaguing her own thoughts as well.

As I got closer, I could see that Percy was out cold, and Annabeth looked weakened and had a tourniquet on her left arm. "What happened" I demanded

"I...I don't know," Will said, "They had us pull back to this side of the bridge, and a bit later, they just appeared here like this as the bridge crumbled into the river."

I went to check the bridge, as I couldn't handle this.

"where's she." I heard Clarisse start asking.

"Let her be," Zoë said. "She needs to wrap her head around it all."

At least she's getting better with modern English. I thought as I started climbing what remains of the bridge.

You know how you see pictures from warzones. Well, that's pretty much how the bridge looked. Beaten, broken, burned, collapsed, and destroyed, are all words that can describe the remains of what used to be a bridge I stand on. I couldn't walk out far, either. The bridge was missing from manhattan to the other side, where what little remains over there remain. The two support towers that once supported cables for the bridge are now disconnected, with their cables going down from the tower and disappearing into the water below.

"What happened here" I mumbled to myself. "Why destroy the bridge?" I began thinking to myself. "Why did they come here while most of the Apollo cabin seems fine?"

"Thalia," Zoë said, walking up to me, speaking unusually softly for her. "It's been thirty minutes. We need to get them back to headquarters," she said

"What happened here?" I asked her

"Aren't you worried about them," she asked me in a motherly tone. Or at least what I think one should be.

"I'm dead worried about them," I admitted, "But what could take them both out? What could cause this bridge to be destroyed? Why were they here in the first place?"

Zoë let out a sad sigh. "Thalia, the Titan Lord, was here. Percy used his powers to destroy the bridge, which was weakened throughout the battle."

I sobbed as they could have died, and it would be all my fault. All those years ago, I should have killed Luke instead of bolstering about being better than him.

"Thalia. It's not your fault," Zoë stated.

"But"

"Shhh," she said, hugging me. "It's not your fault, ok."

"Can I kill them for getting hurt on me?" I asked

"Trust me, Percy would have never made it to camp if that were allowed," She joked. "Now come, we have to move them."

"What's their condition," I asked as we started leaving the bridge.

"Percy overexerted himself. He'll be fine with rest and food," Zoë answered,

"and..and Annabeth?" I asked

"She's recovering from poison. The tourniquet is off now, and she should be back to herself by tonight. Though the Apollo cabin sedated her because she was refusing to rest"

"Thank you, Zoë," I stated, "I... I wouldn't have"

"It's alright," she responded, "We all process in our own way," she finished as we got off the bridge.

"You good now, Pinetree," Clarisse asked.

"yeah," I answered

"Clarisse, you'll be with Thalia carrying Annabeth," Zoë stated

"Why do two of us need to carry her," Clarisse asked, "She can't be more than 160. and I can easily do that."

"Go ahead, try," Zoë challenged

Clarisse failed epically. She couldn't even get Annabeth's arm up.

"What the Hades" she grumbled out.

"They have weighted training bracelets on," Zoë informed Clarisse, "You're just here to help Thalia if she can't do it herself"

"I don't think I can," I stated. "I may have the same training bracelets, but I don't think I can double them," I finished as I moved to get Annabeth upright, at least. Clarisse and I were taller than her, so we should be able to move her like this.

"Clarisse," I breathed out as I hefted Annabeth up.

Clarisse immediately came to Annabeth's other side and started supporting some of her weight which made it easier for me. "Is this what the sky felt like?"

"No, that was way worse," I answered. "Now let's get back to our HQ" I finished starting our trek back.

"Hey, Thalia did milady tell you anything about their current settings," Zoë asked.

"Just that they are maxed out."

"We may need an extra few to move him," Phoebe stated as I made my way down the street, carrying most of Annabeth's weight.

Time skip

It took us two hours to get Annabeth back to HQ, and she was still sleeping.

"I need a nap," Clarisse said

"Thalia, your tent," Atalanta said as she rushed up to us.

"What," I asked

Atlanta reached around me and grabbed the tent that Annabeth, Percy, and I use out of my pocket. "She needs somewhere to rest. My siblings informed me of her condition," She answered, setting up the tent. "In here on the bed," Atlanta said

"This is your tent," Clarisse said as we entered.

"Technically, I share it with Percy and Annabeth, but yeah."

"I gotta get me one of these"

I had Clarisse help me lay Annabeth on the left side of the bed, as that's where Atalanta was. "thanks," Atalanta said. "I'll make sure my siblings didn't mess up," she said as she started doing doctor stuff.

"Can I" Clarisse started

"No you out," Atalanta said. "Your cabin wishes to speak with you."

I looked at the bed longingly. It's been two months since we've used it, nearing three. "You can join her," Atalanta said. "Just don't move her while I'm working."

"Thanks, Atalanta," I said as I cuddled into Annabeth's right side.

I was only lying there for an hour before Zoë and Phoebe collapsed into the entrance of the tent.

"Oh, great," Atalanta stated. "You may have actually broken him this time."

"You move him then," Phoebe groaned.

I sighed, got up from my comfy spot, shouldered Percy, and placed him in bed. "Wake me up later," I said, " I need a nap."
