Ina and Jungha had made their way into a small cottage at the edge of a hill near the ocean. The hut had a mystical feel, the outside being in the shape of an acorn while on the inside, white pedal like curtains hung from the middle and tapered into a bulb shape at the bottom.
The walls were a dark shade while the floor was a light brown, a small window at the opposite end of the hut looking down onto the beach.
"Been too long since I had you here Xiumin. Why were you gone for so long?" the woman said, her voice velvety and pleasing to Ina's ear.
The woman appeared to be happy to see Casper, while on his end, he simply seemed annoyed. He rolled his eyes, walking over to a coat hanger by the door and placing his coat on it, unbuttoning the sleeves of his shirt and pulling them up to his elbows.
"Agatha... You tried to kill me twice because you had forgotten who I was. You had gotten so old," Casper mumbled to himself, motioning for Ina and Jungha to walk in.
"It was Solar," the woman said.
"Hu?"
"My given name was Solar. I took the name from the girl who's body this is. I'm in hiding at the moment so I took her name," the woman added.
She stood in a different area of the hut, a small fire on the floor that opened up to the area outside.
It was like a balcony's edge, both Jungha and Ina sitting inside the bulb of curtains, a couple of chairs lining the inside with white pillows on top of them, a table smack down the middle of it.
"Eggs?" she asked, looking at both Jungha and Ina who nodded vigorously.
Agatha pulled a match from a corner of the balcony area, lighting it up before throwing it into the wood, standing up only to wipe her hands off with one another.
"Hiding? From who?" Xiumin asked, the woman turning back to the fire and placing a pan on top of it.
She lifted her hands, and some cabinets and a small fridge by the entrance opened up with plates, eggs, and condiments flying out from them. On her hand landed a pair of chopsticks, the woman smiling at Jungha and Ina's reactions.
They looked amazed, the woman feeling pleased that something so trivial could empress them.
"Merla. She wants me to come back. This new reincarnation is worse than the last. She is a total blank slate, a shell of the woman I used to know. She has more of the heart of the original Merla than the heart of a mother. I thought she had killed her own daughter but I'm glad to hear she's still alive. I'm sure my Merla would be rolling in her grave if she was dead," the woman named Agatha smirked.
She had begun cooking some eggs, a loaf of bread coming down from the many objects that floated in the air and, with a snap of her fingers, became sliced and toasted.
"Jam?" she asked.
The eggs were being stirred as she asked, Jungha and Ina nodding slowly.
She squealed before mumbling, "so cute," at Jungha and Ina's faces.
"But what does Merla want with you?" Xiumin asked, the woman handing him two plates as she put the cooked scrambled eggs and jammed toast on it.
"She wants me to use my magic to help her regain all of her memories. Every single one of them. She wants me to remind her why she started this whole mess in the first place. She wants to regain her purpose."
"You can do something like that?" Ina asked, Casper handing both Ina and Jungha some food.
"I can do a lot more than just bring memories back," she smiled, making two more plates before snapping her fingers, all of the materials going back to their original place while the fire turned off.
She handed a plate to Casper before sitting across Ina and Jungha, sliding her dress under her before moving her almost silver blond hair behind her shoulder.
In the middle of the bulb curtains was a large table made of what seemed to be polished rock, Casper and Agatha took a seat on some of the chairs and put the plate on the table, Agatha moving some books on top of it, to one side.
She snapped her fingers again, making utensils appear in front of all of them followed by a tea set, Casper immediately gravitated to it, placing some herbs inside of the large teapot.
"Dig in!" Agatha said, Ina and Jungha thanked her for the food while Casper began filling a cup with some tea.
"So tell me, what else can Ms. Agatha do?" Ina asked between bites.
"Not to brag, but I can make a barrier so strong that I could never be found if I were so pleased too," she said, sipping some of the tea Casper had served her.
"Why don't you?" Casper asked.
"I like the human world. It's far more carefree than the one of a witch. I want to be able to go and come as I please. Plus, I knew you'd be coming," she said, taking another sip.
"She did?" Jungha asked.
"Ina, Jungha, let me formally introduce you guys to Ms. Agatha Cristaisia Venustaria. The witch of destiny and fortune. The witch of the stars," Casper said aloud as if announcing the next candidate of Korea's Most Beautiful Woman.
"So, you can make stars?" Jungha asked, beginning to eat the toast that was on his plate.
"No. No one can do that. But, I can see into the future. This body does make it a bit harder to do since it is so young and new, but give me about 100 years and I'll be able to regain the power to do so. I can undo the strings of destiny, and in Merla's case, give her back all her old memories. Do I want to? Hell no I don't, and by the bridges of Ignas, I do not plan to," she stated bluntly.
"Speaking of, Agatha, does that young body of yours have the ability to unlock other's powers?" Xiumin asked.
Ina and Jungha stopped dead in their tracks, half a piece of egg in their mouths. That had been the reason they had gone there in the first place, and knowing that she was incapable of doing some magic made them wonder if that included that power. Xiumin had also been taken by surprise, his statement full of concern.
"Of course I can. That's a lot simpler than looking into the future. Is that why you came?"
"I thought you knew?"
"Dear Xiumin, I knew you were coming but that does not mean I would know why," she responded, her voice sounding annoyed.
Agatha took a couple of sips of tea, taking a deep breath before glancing over at Casper and sticking her tongue out, both Jungha and Ina giggling at her action.
Agatha turned to look at them, her eyes going from Jungha to Ina and back. She studied them, and peeked deep into their souls, her eyes feeling like dancing fairies.
"Ina you said? Would you care to look into my eyes?" the woman finally blurted, her voice making Ina feel odd, like she was in some sort of trouble.
For some reason, her words had made Ina feel immobile.
The woman had gotten onto the table, reaching over towards Ina's, her dress draping at her side along with her hair.
Her eyes. Agatha's eyes began to glow, colors exploding from her irises into beautiful swirls.
She gently placed her index finger on Ina's forehead, sliding it up before resting her thumb in its place.
"What do you feel?" Agatha asked, her voice pulling at Ina's heart.
Ina couldn't help but stare into her eyes, feeling sad. There was sadness behind the woman's eyes.
There was pain.
She felt love, then anger.
Ina's heart began to feel uncomfortable, like a shy person being exposed to a world unknown to them. She saw embers, the flickering of ash surrounding her body, her throat becoming dry.
Ina couldn't help but feel as if-
"Fire. Fire is inside of me. I feel hot," Ina said, unable to hold back the words that escaped her mouth.
The woman smiled.
"What color?"
"Red. Extremely red," Ina responded.
Agatha let go of her, and Ina's eyes saw red again, like when she was in elementary school. Tears started streaming from her eyes, the sensation spreading from her eyes down to her chest and flooding her arms and legs like an uncontrollable wildfire.
Jungha couldn't get his eyes off his sister, her skin beginning to glow an ominous red color, his mind beginning to go into panic mode.
"Ina?" He asked, holding her hand gently.
"Let her go, kid, unless you want to burn up," Agatha warned.
Jungha quickly let go of his sister's hand, feeling scared of accidentally hurting her.
"Next is you," the woman said, her voice sounding playful.
She did the same thing, moving over to Jungha while placing her hand on his head, her other hand balancing her body on the table.
"So oddly familiar... You look so oddly familiar," she whispered, Jungha's eyes staring deep into hers.
He felt it. He felt unable to look away. As if something was keeping him frozen, his mind soon began to disappear to another place. It felt windy, almost like the mist in the forest they had stayed in. It was a refreshing feeling.
But the feeling soon became full of pain, and fear, as if he was choking.
Jungha saw himself, he saw his childhood self. He saw his sister crying, he saw her being hurt by those bullies.
He remembered that time, the time of being in middle school without her, seeing her go to high school while leaving him behind. He was afraid.
But something else came into his vision. Someone else came into his vision.
It was her.
It was Agatha.
He could see her in his memories.
It was her.
But it wasn't he who was looking at her. It was someone else, but he appeared to be in the person's body.
Her hair was dark, unlike the bright blond almost white she had now.
He felt like he was drowning, his face going down to his body, seeing a large sword stuck on his side.
Looking up, he saw her crying, Agatha's face looking at his, with tears in her eyes, her mouth open as if she were yelling but no sound coming from it.
These weren't his memories.
He couldn't breathe, the feeling of him drowning filling his lungs suddenly. He choked, unable to keep the air in his body. Jungha began to convulse, Ina passed out on the table in front of her.
"This boy-"
"That's enough," Casper said, pulling Agatha away from him, the woman visibly distraught.
"This boy... Xiumin...You knew!" She said, her voice sounding as if she had been betrayed.
"Agatha now is not the time, Jungha can't breathe!" Casper yelled.
The woman blinked quickly, getting off the table and running to Jungha's side. She pushed Casper away from him, looking at the boy she was now holding from his T-shirt collar, Casper now against a wall on the opposite side of the hut.
"My beloved Dong-moon!" she said before placing her lips on Jungha, closing her eyes, and giving him a deep breath.
"Holy fucking- AGATHA GET AWAY FROM HIM YOU PEDO!" Casper yelled, going towards Agatha and pulling Jungha away from her.
"He is not Dong-moon let that man rest in peace!"
"Then why does he look so much like him?!"
"Get your shit together Agatha, you better than no one knows that people resemble their ancestors after several generations, let the kid go, you old hag!!" Casper yelled.
Just as they argued, both Ina and Jungha inhaled sharply, both of them beginning to cough and wheeze like crazy.
Casper stood up, walking over to them and helping Ina make her way next to her brother.
"It hurts," Ina whispered, Agatha standing in front of the three of them, her arms crossed.
"Most witches unlock their powers around 6, so this is nothing. Pain is normal in your transformation, in fact, it's a must. If you can survive for a day and night you should be able to have your magic by sundown tomorrow," she said, her voice sounding far more serious than it had when they met her.
"He seems to have taken it the worse," she added, motioning at Jungha with her head.
"Lay him down on my bed Xiumin. Since Ina is still awake, I am assuming half of her magic was unlocked at some point in her childhood. She can stand. You'll help me tend to your brother," she stated, Xiumin doing as told and placing Jungha over his shoulder, walking towards a door and pointing at it with his thumb as if asking if it was that room.
Agatha nodded, walking over to a corner of the hut and grabbing a bucket, throwing it at Ina for her to catch.
"There is some fresh water in a pond nearby. Let us go," she said, walking to the door and waiting for Ina for only a split second before walking out.
Ina sighed, picking up her wary body from where she had gone to sit and following the woman out of the hut.
She only hoped her brother would be fine.
