twenty one
Everyone spent their Sundays being lazy, lounging around the common room, and barely getting out of bed. James and I hung out in the common room with Remus and Sirius before they disappeared, off to somewhere, doing Merlin knows what.
Couples couldn't seem to keep their hands off each other and their tongues in their own mouths, leaving it all out of display for everyone in the common room to see.
James and I decided to go up to his dormitory to 'hangout' and take a nap.
I was nuzzled against James, his arms wrapped tightly around me as I woke up to banging coming from the common room.
"James-"
"Shhh-, I'm sleeping."
I shook James awake, "Get up, you idiot."
James flipped me off, his eyes still tightly closed.
I rolled my eyes and got out of the four-poster bed, quickly throwing my clothes back on, "I'll be back."
James didn't respond, as he had already fallen back asleep. He had been so tired from early morning quidditch practices, which he scheduled, and then staying up late doing homework.
The sounds got louder as I walked down the stairs, entering the common room.
Bloody hell.
Lily came rushing down the stairs after me, coming out of the girl's corridor. She brushed past me and glared at the scene in the common room.
A group of third-year boys were levitating various objects around the room and had been throwing them through hoops that were levitated in the air.
"Put him down!" Lily yelled, startling the younger boys.
The tallest boy dropped his concentration, causing the boy who had been levitating to fall to the floor.
The other students in the common room were staring intently at the scene unfolding before them. The couples looked especially irritated that they had to take a break from snogging each other's faces off.
"We were just practicing levitation." One of the boys claimed as Lily helped the boy off of the floor.
"I can see that, Elliot." Lily replied sarcastically. "There are other ways to practice levitation than throwing objects through flying hoops, then getting bored and levitating your own friend."
The three boys stared at their feet as Lily disciplined them, while the fourth boy sat on the couch rubbing his head.
Merlin, they remind me so much of James, Sirius, and Remus.
"It was my idea." The blonde boy claimed, standing up from the couch.
Lily pursed her lips at him, "Then all four of you can clean up the common room and serve detention tomorrow night."
"I have a date tomorrow-"
"Bummer, several people here were in the middle of dates." Lily replied calmly.
I cleared my throat, "Yeah, I was trying to take a nap."
Marlene and Jolie were sitting at a table in the corner of the common room and both laughed at my comment.
Jolie furrowed her brows at me and mouthed, 'Yeah, sleeping'.
I flipped her off in return, earning a loud laugh from Marlene.
After everyone calmed down and things returned to normal, James finally came stumbling down the stairs in his sweatpants and a jumper.
His already messy hair was even messier from sleep-, and other things-, anyways, his black curls were sticking out in every direction.
James spotted me sitting on a table talking to Marlene and Jolie, and came walking over, messing with his hair as he did so.
"Good morning, love." James teased as he kissed me on the cheek.
"Hate to break it to you Jamesy, but it's five o'clock." Jolie laughed.
"No shit Sherlock, I just woke up."
I threw my hands up, "See, I told you we were sleeping."
"Yeah, we totally just took a nap for three hours." James replied with a wide smirk on his face.
Marlene shook her head at us, "If only I liked men."
"I get the best of both worlds." I laughed back.
"I would," Marlene huffed, "But men kind of repulse me-, not you James."
James ruffled Marlene's blonde hair, "Why thank you, McKinnon, I'm so glad that I am the only man who doesn't repulse you."
Just then the portrait hole burst open as Sirius and Remus ran into the common room.
Remus's eyes met mine and he ran over to James and me, Sirius hot on his trail.
"What's wrong?" I asked, looking at the two boys.
Sirius took a deep breath, "We may or may not have dyed Mrs. Norris' fur bright pink."
"Without me?" James yelled, throwing his hands up before crossing them in front of his body as he stared at Sirius.
"It was spur of the moment, Prongs!"
Remus laughed, "If Filch would've caught us, we would be dead."
Jolie sat up in her chair, "Hold on-, how did you manage to do that?"
"Sleeping draught," Remus admitted, "Then we cast a simple appearance altering spell."
"So you just carry around a sleeping draught?" Marlene laughed. "For 'spur of the moment' pranks?"
"Yeah, you don't?" Sirius scoffed.
"Why couldn't you have pranked all of the disgusting snogging couples?" Marlene asked, her voice sarcastic and bitter.
James threw his hands up in surrender, "Hey-," He pointed to me and back to himself, "We are a snogging couple."
"You keep it in the bedroom though." Jolie said, tightened her long blonde ponytail.
Remus coughed, "And the common room couch."
I hit Remus in the arm as everyone else began to laugh.
"I hate all of you." James teased, kissing me on the forehead.

My black Mary Jane's clicked on the stairs as I made my way down to the common room. I was fiddling with my tie, not looking where I was going, causing me to run directly into someone.
"Oi-"
"Happy Valentine's day, love!"
I looked up and saw that the person I had run into had thankfully been James.
He pressed a kiss to my cheek, "You look beautiful."
I smiled, "Thank you, darling, but you know I don't like Valentine's day."
James and I walked out the portrait hole and into the corridor as we made our way to the Great Hall for breakfast.
"Oh, I know," James teased, "That's why you are going to have the best Valentine's day ever."
I looped my arm through James', "We'll see about that."
The corridors had been decorated with pink and red hearts, levitating cupid's, and lots of PDA friendly couples.
"Gross." I muttered as I tapped a red heart on the stone wall.
James chuckled, "I think it's cute."
I laughed and stood on my tippy toes to kiss James on the cheek. "Only you would say that, love."
When James and I walked into the Great Hall, it was already filling up with people, and it looked like Cupid himself threw up all over the place.
Various boys were attempting to woo girls with flowers, teddy bears, and chocolate, while various girls were gossiping with their friends about it.
I spotted Jolie sitting at the Gryffindor table and caught her gaze. She looked scared as she quickly waved us over to the table.
"Help me!" Jolie muttered as James and I sat down next to her.
James started dishing food onto his plate, "What did you-, sorry, who did you do this time?"
Jolie stuck her tongue out a James before quickly returning to her anxious state.
"Seriously Jo, what's wrong?"
"You know how I'm a free spirit?"
I nodded.
"And I don't do relationships?"
I nodded again.
"Well, all of my one night stands don't seem to understand that so I'm hiding so I don't have to publicly reject anyone."
James choked on his coffee.
"Just accept the gifts and break their hearts tomorrow." I suggested as I put two pancakes on my plate and started drowning them with syrup.
James stared at me, his hazel eyes wide. "You can't do that! It will hurt their spirit!"
"You're only saying that because this is the only Valentine's day that you haven't gotten rejected."
"Is not-," James sighed, "Never mind."
I grabbed James' knee, "It's okay darling, it's okay."
Remus and Sirius came walking into the Great Hall, looking extra chipper this morning as they took their seats across from James, Jolie, and I.
"Operation Elton is on." Sirius announced as he started filling his plate with food. "Is that what we're calling it?"
"Yes, it is Padfoot!" James whispered, "Come on, we talked about this last night."
I leaned in, "Scheming without me, boys?"
"No!" They both replied in unison, looking anxious.
"Come on," I pouted, "I want to know!"
"If it makes you feel better, I have no idea either." Remus sighed as he took a bite of bacon.
"Can't do that, Vixen." Sirius mumbled through a mouth full of food.
I looked at James and slid my hand up his thigh. "You'll tell me, won't you dear?"
James jumped as I reached the base of his thigh. "I'm afraid I can't."
"Withhold sex." Jolie whispered, making me laugh.
I whispered back, "I couldn't even if I tried."
"You kinky bitch!" Jolie whisper-yelled.
James leaned in, "Now who's scheming?"
"Not scheming, just talking about your pullout game." Jolie retorted quickly.
James looked at me, then at Jolie, then back at me. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, "That's not fair! It was one time-"
"I was kidding, Potter!" Jolie exclaimed. "And I didn't need to know that."
"Neither did I." Remus muttered as he took a large sip from his coffee.
"T-minus four minutes until Operation Elton." James mumbled as he made eye contact with Sirius.
"Roger that, Prongs."
Remus looked at the two boys, "I'm not jealous-, but I will never understand the relationship that you two have."
"Ditto," I replied, "You two are brothers. My brother barely writes, Bea and Henry are little shits, and my parents are too wrapped up in their jobs."
Jolie scoffed, "That's the kind of energy that I need on this awful holiday."
We high-fived.
Sirius and James made eye contact again. Grey against hazel.
James nodded, and Sirius nodded in response.
Remus dropped his head into his hand, "Merlin-"
His words were cut short as music started playing loudly out of nowhere. James hopped up from the table, as did Sirius, as the song started playing.
James held his wand to his throat, amplifying his voice. "This is for my girlfriend, Daphne, solely because she hates Valentine's day!"
Everyone in the Great Hall was staring at the two black-haired boys as they began to dance to the beat, using their wands as microphones. I looked up at the Professor's table and saw McGonagall sigh in defeat as she dropped her head in her hands, and Dumbledore smiling as he watched the show.
James grabbed my hand and got down on one knee as he began to sing, "Don't go breaking my heart-"
"I couldn't if I tried," Sirius sang.
"Honey, if I get restless-"
Sirius pointed at Remus as he stood in front of him, "Baby, you're not that kind."
My hand was slapped other my mouth as James and Sirius serenaded Remus and me. My cheeks were red from the number of people who were staring at us, but I was fighting a laugh at the boys' awful singing.
Jolie, who was sitting beside me, was laughing hysterically at the performance and was having the time of her life.
Ooh-hoo, nobody knows it
When I was down
I was your clown
Ooh-hoo, nobody knows it, nobody knows
Right from the start
I gave you my heart
Oh oh, I gave you my heart
Everyone in the Great Hall was still watching intently as the song came to an end and the two boys took their bows. Most people clapped, while the entire Slytherin table looked absolutely disgusted because of the muggle music and "blood traitors".
James sat back down next to me, catching his breath. He turned to look at me, "Did you like-"
I cut him off with a kiss as I cupped his face and brought my lips to his. We kept the kiss short, mainly because a ton of people were still staring at us.
When I pulled away I had a smile plastered over my face, "I love you."
James grinned, "I love you too."
