twenty nine

"I can't believe you took that comment seriously!"

Sirius ruffled Jolie's dark blonde hair, "I think you'd be great together, especially now that he's not living with Death Eaters."

I nudged Sirius in the arm, "Shut up, Padfoot. I knew you were probably hating your family, and we wanted Reggie to come, but he didn't want to be a fifth wheel, so I figured that you would fancy an Italian getaway."

"Exactly," Sirius added, "Plus it's not like we're making you two get together or share a room-"

I laughed, "But if you choose to-"

"Okay!" Jolie muttered, "I get it."

James' bag landed in the foyer with a thud as he quickly rushed down the stairs to grab it. His smile was wide as he slung his bag over his shoulder and walked into the living room.

"Everyone ready?"

I nudged Jolie, "Just be nice, that's all we're asking."

"Really? Because it sounds like you're trying to fix me up with Sirius's little brother."

Sirius laughed, "Maybe a little bit."

Since all of us were of age, except Regulus, we were all able to apparate to the house we were staying at in Amalfi.

Jolie walked up to Regulus, "Wanna apparate with me?"

"Uh-, yeah, thanks." Regulus replied, running a hand through his curly hair.

Euphemia came bustling into the living room, Fleamont behind her, to come bid us goodbye.

"Do you kids have everything?" Euphemia asked, trying to smooth out James' hair.

He moved out of the way and re-messed up his black hair, "Yes mum, we have everything."

"Money? Maps?"

Sirius pulled a sack of galleons out of his pocket, while Remus pulled a map of Amalfi, Italy out of his pocket.

She smiled and began to make her rounds, giving each of us a kiss on the cheek, which surprised Regulus. Sirius used to be the same way when it came to affection, but now he loves it.

When Euphemia reached Remus, she kissed him on the cheek and said, "You're in charge, Remus."

He nodded in agreement, "I'll keep them all in check."

"Me too!" Sirius chimed in.

Jolie rolled her eyes, "No, you won't."

"Yeah, I won't."

I laughed, "Moomy and Dadfoot."

The four of us Marauders began laughing, while Regulus looked confused, and Jolie stifled a laugh.

"I'll never understand their weird nicknames." Regulus teased.

Jolie shook her head, "Oh, it is one hell of a story."

Sirius nodded, "To say the least."

"Okay, we're off! Bye, mum and dad, I love you both."James announced as he pulled his wand out of his pocket.

Fleamont gave his son a quick hug, "Don't break any ancient buildings or fountains."

"We would never-"

Sirius laughed, "Yes we would, but it would be an accident."

Euphemia shook her head at the boys, "Oh go on, we don't want to keep you from your holiday."

"Bye mum, bye dad!" Sirius yelled just as grabbed Remus's hand and disapparated in a twist.

I grabbed James' hand and intertwined our fingers as he got his wand ready.

Right before we apparated away, I saw Jolie and Regulus lock hands, the latter blushing ever so slightly, as they prepared to apparate.

We disappeared from the Potter's manor with CRACK, and landed on a side street of Amalfi, right beside Remus and Sirius.

I steadied myself, and Jolie and Regulus appeared a few feet away from us.

"So it should be about two blocks south, and the property manager should be there to meet us." Remus muttered as he stole a glance at his map.

It was magical, so we could see our location in comparison to our destination.

"Is it muggle or magical?" Jolie asked as she readjusted her bag over her shoulder.

"Muggle," I replied, "So no magic out in the open."

Regulus laughed, "Won't be a problem for me."

This made Jolie laugh, probably more than she should have.

I raised my eyebrow at her, which she responded to with a subtle middle finger so that the younger Black brother couldn't see it.

"It's hot," Sirius complained, "Moony lead the way please!"

"Agreed." I mumbled, walking out onto the main street.

The street was lined with tall buildings and townhouses and scattered with people walking along the cobblestone street. Although it was hard to see, on the other side of the street, past the buildings, was the beach leading to the ocean.

The six of us walked through the street, Remus occasionally looking at the map, until we finally reached the townhouse that we were staying in for the better part of two weeks.

Sure enough, an old Italian man was waiting outside. He looked up from his book as we walked into the yard.

"Ah-, you're early!"

James shook his hand, "Hi, I'm James."

The older man smiled, "Of course Mister Potter, I'm Marco."

I intertwined my fingers through James' as Jolie started a conversation in Italian with Marco. Regulus and Sirius chimed in every once and a while, while James, Remus, and I watched them confusedly. I understood the occasional word or phrase, but they were talking incredibly fast and I wasn't fluent in Italian like them.

The three of us were zoning out on the conversation until Marco handed Sirius two sets of keys for the townhouse.

Sirius shook his hand, and Marco turned to all of us, "Have fun kids!"

I waved goodbye to him as he got into his car and drove off.

Sirius passed one set of the keys to Remus and the other set to me, "I don't trust myself with these."

"Am I not trustworthy of having a set of keys?" Jolie teased, a hurt look on her face.

James smirked, "No, you are, but I don't want them to fall out of your pocket when some Italian guy is taking off your pants-"

He was cut off by Jolie and me each giving him a smack upside the head.

"I was kidding!"

Remus flung open the front door, "Come on in."

"That's what she-"

Sirius was cut off by Regulus smacking him upside the head, which only made all of us laugh even harder.

James took the opportunity to push past Sirius, running up the stairs into the house, "Dibs on the master bedroom!"

I began to run up behind James when Sirius shoved me out of the way, making me almost hit my head on the doorframe. "Sirius-"

"Not if I get there first, Prongs!"

Sirius bounded up the stairs in an attempt to catch up to James, but he was too slow.

James ran down the hallway, which happened to be a balcony over the foyer and flung open the door to the master bedroom.

"Daph-, I got it!" He cheered, flexing his biceps just to rub it in Sirius's face a bit more.

I dropped my bag in the foyer, "Good job, darling!"

"Anyways," Remus muttered with the roll of his light brown eyes, "There are four bedrooms, all on the second floor, and I guess James and Daphne have the master."

Sirius had settled on the "second biggest" bedroom for him and Remus, but it was roughly the same sizes as the others according to the information we looked at when choosing a house to rent. We had to use the phone booth which bewildered Sirius.

Regulus ran a hand through his hair, "You can pick next, I don't care."

Jolie smiled and kissed him on the cheek, "Thanks, Reg!"

She bounced up the stairs in pursuit of finding a bedroom, not even noticing the slight blush that butterflied across Regulus's pale cheeks.

I nudged the younger boy, "She's pretty, isn't she?"

"Um-, yeah, she's the prettiest."

I smirked at Regulus, "She is single, so-"

"She wouldn't want me."

"Okay, whatever it takes to fall asleep at night. All I know is that you've touched her twice, and have blushed both times."

Regulus nudged me, "Oh, shove off."

I laughed, "Anyways, I'm going to christen the house."

"Christen?"

Remus had reentered the foyer after checking out the rest of the house and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, "Please use a silencing charm, dear."

Realization swept across Regulus's face.

"Oh-, and the anti-baby charm because I'm not ready to be Uncle Moony yet."

Regulus chuckled, "Okay, well, have fun then."

He walked up the stairs and opened the door to the last remaining bedroom.

I looked at Remus, "Think they're going to shag during the trip?"

"Oh, they definitely will." He replied.

We both exchanged a look and began to laugh.

Just then, James reappeared on the balcony, "Daphne, love?" He yelled.

I rolled my eyes, "Yes, darling?"

Jolie peeked her head out of her bedroom and fake gagged before closing the door behind her.

"I brought your bag up, and the bed looks really comfy." James answered, a suggestive tone in his voice.

Remus laughed, "She's all yours, Prongs."

I gave Remus a kiss on the cheek before heading up the stairs, greeting James with a quick kiss.

James ushered me into the room, slapping my arse as I walked through the doorway, then proceeding to slam and lock the door behind us.

I rolled my eyes at him, "Eager, already?"

He wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and kissed me on the neck. "Maybe, we haven't gotten much alone time in the past two weeks."

I looked around our bedroom for the next two weeks.

The walls were a pale blue, with a tall window that opened up to a small balcony, with white curtains drawn letting the late morning sunshine into the bedroom. As for the furniture, there was a queen-sized bed, with a white duvet, and a metal headboard, matching oak nightstands on either side of the bed, a dresser in the corner of the room, and a medium-sized wardrobe up against the adjacent wall. The room had minimal decor, but arched ceilings that made the bedroom look even prettier.

"It's pretty here." I whispered as James continued to kiss my neck.

He mumbled, "Not as pretty as you."

I laughed and turned around in his embrace to face him. I cupped his face with my hands, "You're so cheesy."

"But you love me."

"Yeah, I do love you."

James closed the distance between us as he pressed his lips against mine. The kiss only ended that James could whisper, "I love you," against my lips.

"I love you too."

He pulled me back into the kiss, bringing his hands up to cup my face as well.

When we broke apart for air, James traced my bottom lip with his thumb as if he was trying to memorize every dip and curve of my lips.

"I can't wait to marry you." I whispered against his thumb.

James grinned at me and moved his hand to my cheek, "A winter wedding?"

"A winter wedding."

He smiled wider at me, picking me up and carrying me back to the bed. James threw me on the bed before jumping in next to me.

"Can we just lay here in the sun?" He asked, tracing figures on my lower thigh absentmindedly.

"Of course, my love."

James laid his head in my lap as I say propped up against the pillows. I ran my fingers through his hair as he closed his eyes, basking in the sunlight coming in through the window.

I flicked my wrist and the window opened, allowing the light summer breeze into the room.

James smiled at me, "I am so in love with you that I'm terrified."

I furrowed my brows at him, "I'm not going to break your heart."

"No-, I-, I know that." James sighed, "You're just my other half, and I don't want anything to happen to you."

I smiled sadly at him, "And you're my other half, we'll protect each other."

"We'll protect each other." James echoed, his eyes closing again, "Until the end of time?"

"Until the end of time."
