"Wake up."
I was being shaken awake by none other than James Potter. His lean body was propped up on his elbows as he shook me awake. I groaned and attempted to push him off of me, but failed.
"Stop being a grinch, it's Christmas."
I sighed and turned to look at him.
James was wide awake despite the lack of sun outside the windows. It was still dark out.
"What time is it?"
"Seven."
"Why the bloody hell did you wake me up then?" I mumbled as I rolled out from under James' body.
He furrowed his brows at me, "Because it's Christmas, and I'm excited."
I sat up in bed and ran my hand through my hair.
The four of us had stayed up until one in the morning decorating, drinking, and enjoying each other's company. When we finally ended up going our separate ways to go to bed, James and I stayed up for another hour talking-, with a bit of kissing.
"What now?" I whispered as my lips left his.
James tilted my chin up, "You be my girlfriend. If-, if you would like." He stuttered.
I let out a small laugh.
"Of course I do."
James let out a breath that he didn't even know he had been holding.
"Good, I'm glad."
I was in a good mood-, all things considered, but the lack of sleep was going to be the death of me.
James climbed out of bed and practically dragged me along with him.
I pulled my warm robe over my pajamas before leaving the room, with James trailing behind me, to the bathroom.
We both brushed our teeth and James tried to make conversation with me but I was in no mood. I hadn't had my coffee yet and was a bit pissed about getting woken up too early for my liking.
"You're very cheery this morning."
I stopped my brush halfway through my hair and glared at James. He seemed to wither under my gaze.
"You woke me up by jumping on me and it's still dark outside-"
"It's Christmas, you'll be happy when you see what I got you."
I rolled my eyes, "You get to make the coffee then."
James gave me a kiss on the forehead, "Gladly, mon amour."
I stood up on my tiptoes and placed a kiss on his lips. His hand traveled to the small of my back and he pulled me closer to him.
Everything with James felt easy. Like the last puzzle piece fitting into place. I didn't have to worry that he would leave me or that he would end up hating me because we've known each other since we were eleven. When we were lanky and awkward, and we still stuck together through everything.
When we broke away from our kiss, he pulled me into a hug before we trudged down the seemingly never-ending stairs.
The house was quiet aside from the fire crackling in the fireplace, and the faint noises coming from the kitchen.
I followed James into the kitchen to see Sirius attempting to make coffee.
He turned as he heard our footsteps on the floor.
"Mooorning."
I smirked, "Good morning, Padfoot."
"I-, I attempted." Sirius claimed as he stepped away from the coffee pot.
James took over and began brewing a batch of coffee.
"You sleep well, Vixen? You look like shit."
I held up my middle finger to him. "I was up late."
"Hmm," Sirius sighed, "I was up late too, and was quite active-"
"Stop right there!" James yelled.
Sirius chuckled, "But I reckon I'm still better looking than you."
"Where's Moony?"
Sirius and I turned to look at James, who was getting down four mugs from the cabinet.
"He's in the shower, he should be down shortly."
James poured me a cup of coffee and handed it to me with a wink, which thankfully went unnoticed by Sirius.
As if on cue, Remus came walking into the kitchen. His sandy brown hair was hanging damply on his forehead.
"Good morning, happy Christmas!"
James grinned, "Happy Christmas, mate!"
Remus grabbed his mug off of the counter and placed a quick kiss on Sirius's cheek.
They're so cute.
"Can we open presents?" James asked, his voice full of excitement.
We all agreed and trickled into the living room, where the presents were piled underneath our Christmas tree.
James and I had agreed to tell anyone about our newfound relationship, at least not yet. It was too early.
Remus and Sirius sat next to each other, the latter had his arm hung around Remus's shoulders.
As much as I longed to be able to do simple things like that, it was too soon to be flaunting our relationship everywhere. Well, I guess we could in the safety of our holiday in a foreign country bubble, but as soon as we return to Hogwarts, our relationship will be everyone else's business.
After James distributed everyone's presents correctly, we all dug into our gifts.
I looked at all my gifts from all of my friends and my family.
James leaned over and whispered to me, "I wanted to give yours to you separately."
I nodded in agreement before carefully unwrapping each of my gifts.
From my family, I got new types of vinyl for my record player, Arrival by Abba, The Ramones by The Ramones, and A Day at the Races by Queen, from Sebastian. A short, lilac purple wrap dress from Beatrice. A tan corduroy jacket from Henry. A bit of money and a new pair of Mary Jane's from mum and dad.
From my friends, I got a book called Tale of Two Cities and a mood ring from Lily. She said the book reminds me of her because it takes place in both Paris and London. Marlene sent me an assortment of candy from Honeydukes and a Queen ban t-shirt. Mary sent me a pair of silver hoop earrings.
After the four of us finished opening up our presents, it was time to exchange ours to each other.
Sirius's face lit up as he opened my gift to him. A leather jacket. He pulled me into a tight hug and thanked me before trying it on over his pajamas.
Remus quite enjoyed the watch and books that I got him and insisted that I spent too much. I truly didn't though.
I decided to wait until later to give James my gift but was excited to see what Sirius and Remus had gotten me.
A smirk danced across Sirius's face as I opened up the box to reveal a red glass bong, a set of joint paper, and a bag of what we call "muggle herb".
He knew me too well.
Remus rolled his eyes at the gift and claimed that if we fell off the Astronomy Tower while high that he would look the other way.
James called bullshit on it.
I opened Remus's gift last. I peeled back the wrapping paper and took out a Gryffindor quidditch jumper which read Potter with a 7 underneath it on the back.
Sirius looked confused, "Why's it Prongs number?"
"Because he's the only one out of us who plays quidditch, and Vixen doesn't show enough team spirit."
Sirius grinned, completely oblivious, "Wicked."
I stifled a laugh at him before shooting a quick glance over to James, who was slightly blushing and stifled a laugh at the same time.
Remus offered to make breakfast, with the help of Sirius, leaving James and me alone in the living room to give each other our gifts.
I moved closer to James and leaned my head on his shoulder. "Here you go, Potter."
"So Remus knows?" James joked as he took the present from my hands.
"He knew that I liked you, but I haven't told him anything since we started dating-, which was like nine hours ago."
James kissed my forehead, "He's a smart one."
I watched as James carefully tore away the wrapping paper and opened the box.
A wide smile came over his face.
James pulled the jumper I had gotten him out of the box. "I've always wanted one with my initial-, the Prewetts have a new one every year!"
I grinned, "Yeah, I remembered."
James folded the jumper neatly and pulled out a copy of Romeo and Juliet.
"Read the inside cover."
He opened the book and pushed his glasses up on his nose as he read what I had written.
"This book is our thing, isn't it?" James smiled as he gazed into my eyes.
I returned the smile, "It is, although I hope we don't die a tragic death."
James laughed, "We won't."
He kissed me softly, "Thank you, Daphne."
"You're welcome, James."
When he pulled away from the kiss, James handed me a small wrapped box that had been sitting at his side.
I gave the raven-haired boy a smirk as I unwrapped the box. Pulling off the lid, I was met by the light reflecting off of the necklace inside of the box.
It was a dainty silver chain, that had four red rubies spread along the length of the chain.
"James-"
"Here," He brushed my hair to the side, "I'll help you put it on."
I lifted my blonde locks up as James' arms looped their way between mine as he clasped the gorgeous necklace around my neck.
The necklace was a perfect length, and the fact that it was from James made it even more perfect.
"Thank you, love." I whispered as I turned back around to face James.
He was wearing his signature grin, "You are very welcome, ma chéri."
"I love it when you talk French to me."
James' grin widened, "Hey-, I said that."
I cupped his face with my warm hands, "Yes, you did."
James leaned into my embrace and closed the distance between us as his lips met mine.
As cliche as it sounds, kissing James felt right. It didn't compare to any of the other kisses that I've had-, and I've had my fair share of kisses.
Kissing James felt like soft rain on a summer night. Every time that our lips touched I felt like I could get lost forever in him, and I'm not really sure how, but I am.
Before anything could get too heated, I heard footsteps coming from the kitchen, making James and me end our kiss far sooner than I would have preferred.
Remus walked into the living room, and a knowing look appeared on his face as he saw us. He was looking back and forth between James and me before he cleared his throat.
"S-, sorry for interrupting whatever this is," Remus laughed, "Bur breakfast is ready and Sirius is getting hangry and he threatened to bark at me."
James and I looked at each other before looking up at Remus. We both let out a laugh, and Remus joined in with us.
Just then a second set of footsteps came into the living room, belonging to Sirius Black.
"Get your arses in here to eat, right fucking now, or I will turn into my dog form and duel both of you."
A startled look came about James's face and he quickly stood up, extending his hand to help me off of the floor.
Sirius had a floral apron on, and an angry look on his face. He turned to Remus, "Love, that is how you get things done."
Remus patted Sirius on the back, "Yes darling, I know."
James and I followed the other half of the Marauders into the kitchen to eat breakfast.
They had made pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon-, along with another pot of coffee.
I took my spot at the table in the breakfast nook, surrounded by my best friends and my boyfriend. That feels weird to say.
The four of us took turns dishing out food onto our empty plates, and coffee into our now empty mugs before we fell into a sort of comfortable silence as we ate.
