three

The sun flickered in through the window, illuminating the dorm, and drawing me out of my deep sleep. As soon as I opened my eyes, the light felt blinding and my head was pounding in my skull.

"Merlin, I'm never drinking again," I muttered to myself, sitting up in Remus's bed.

"We both know that's a lie."

My head turned to the bathroom door, where James was standing with his red toothbrush in his mouth. His hair was tousled and his button-up shirt was had the top three buttons undone.

Well good morning.

"Bonjour, Prongs." I groaned before laying back down in the bed.

I took a look around the room. Frank was gone, with his bed already made, Adrian had never came back for the night, and then there was Remus and Sirius. The two boys were cuddled up in Sirius's bed. Remus was curled into Sirius's side, and Sirius had both arms wrapped around Remus's thin body.

"Aren't they so cute?" James asked as he returned from brushing his teeth.

I smiled at him, "They are, but when did that happen?"

"Oh, it's been happening for about a year now."

"What?" I exclaimed, my voice still hushed. "I mean, I had suspicions, they're not very slick, you know."

James chuckled, "They never have been."

I rubbed my temples as the pounding in my head got quicker.

"Hangover?"

I nodded at James, and he sat down on the edge of Remus's bed. He rustled around in his trunk for a bit before pulling out a small phial.

He handed it to me, "Pepper-up potion. It works for hangovers too."

"You're a lifesaver."

The cork popped out of the phial and I threw it back. The potion tasted awful, but anything was better than this goddamn hangover.

The sheets crinkled as Remus stirred in bed.

James got up from the bed and tiptoed over to Sirius's bed. "Good morning fuckers!" He yelled as he flung himself onto Remus and Sirius.

I began laughing as Sirius and Remus groaned at James.

"Get your fat arse off me?!" Sirius mumbled, burying his head under the pillow.

Remus brought his hand over his eyes, which were still trying to adjust to the morning light that was peering in through the windows.

Sighing in defeat, Sirius finally sat up. Running a hand through his hair, he asked, "Does anyone remember anything-, why are you here?"

Padfoot's eyes met mine. I guess he really doesn't remember anything.

"I slept here, that's why Remus was sleeping with you."

Sirius smirked, "Moony does a lot more than sleep with-"

He was cut off by Remus's hand flying over to cover Sirius's mouth. James burst out laughing and I soon followed.

"Shut up, my head hurts." Sirius groaned.

Remus rolled his eyes, "Anyways, what does everyone remember from last night? Since I was the only sober one."

My eyes quickly glanced over to James. He probably doesn't even remember so there's really no point in bringing it up.

"I remember Sirius skinny dipping," James replied, making me snap my eyes away from him. "I also remember Sirius and I singing Don't Go Breaking My Heart."

I smirked, "I do remember that, it was the performance of a lifetime."

Sirius laughed, "I remember it vaguely. I also vaguely remember returning to the common room and seeing Prongs and Vixen snogging, or was that a dream?"

My face began to turn red, and I looked down at the grey blanket, and absentmindedly began to fiddle with it.

I could practically hear Remus smirk.

"No, that was real."

I looked up just in time to see Sirius's storm cloudy eyes widen. He kept looking back and forth between James and me.

He waved his finger at us, "So you two, were just full out snogging in the common room?"

"It was just a silly dare." James insisted, his hazel eyes finally meeting mine.

Ouch, that hurt a bit.

I cleared my throat, "Yeah, stay cool it was just a kiss."

James' eyes fluttered away from mine. Maybe I hurt him a bit or at least made him sting.

Remus scoffed, "Okay, sure."

"Well, you two are the ones who most definitely shagged on your trip to the Black Lake!" Prongs burst out, waving his hands at the two boys in the bed.

Remus blushed, and Sirius smirked.

"We did not." Moony insisted his face still beet red.

Padfoot stayed quiet but shot us a wink when Moony wasn't looking.

Deciding that I wanted to change and shower before breakfast, I bid goodbye to the boys and left their dormitory. I quickly walked down the corridor to the stairs, desperately hoping not to run into anyone.

"Hey, watch it!"

I looked up as I collided with a figure.

"Oh-, it's you, sorry Daph."

Jolie was standing in front of me, her hair pulled back, her clothes and shoes in her hands, and she was wearing a men's shirt. I looked her up and down before giving her a look.

"Where were you?"

"I could ask you the same thing."

I rolled my eyes at Jolie, and we began to continue down the corridor together. "Seriously, where were you?"

Jolie let out a soft laugh, "I was having a sleepover with a friend."

"Oh, okay, just a friend. By the looks of it, you shagged all night long."

Her icy eyes met my sapphire ones. "You, my friend, are absolutely right."

I playfully elbowed Jolie, "Good one. Was he fit?"

"The fittest."

"Was he good?"

Jolie smirked, "Why else would I have been up all night."

"Touché."

"Now where were you?"

"I was with the boys."

"The boys, or James?"

I looked up at Jolie once again and gave her an uninterested look.

"Hey-, I saw that kiss last night. I was just wondering."

"Fair enough," I muttered, sluggishly walking up the stairs to our dormitory. Jolie was trailing a ways behind me. "And for the record, I was with the boys. Not just James. This kiss didn't mean anything, we were drunk and it was a dare."

Jolie groaned, "Whatever you say, Daph."

My eyes rolled back into my head as I turned the knob on our dormitory door and walked in. Lily was standing in front of her mirror brushing her hair, Marlene was still passed out in her bed, and Alice was already gone, most likely at breakfast with Frank.

Out of all of our roommates, Jolie and Marlene tended to be the party girls, Lily kept everyone in check, much like Remus, Alice kept to herself but was always kind to everyone, and I, well I was a mix of all of them. Sure I like to party, but not often, I keep everyone in check, but I also wreak havoc with the boys, and I'm quite friendly to everyone. I guess you could say I am well-liked.

Lily caught my eyes in the mirror and turned around to greet us. "Good morning, how are you both?"

Jolie closed the door behind her, "I am absolutely splendid."

I rummaged through my trunk looking for some clothes, "I'm fine, a bit hungry."

"Me too," Lily replied. "You have a good time last night?

I let out a laugh, "Yeah, I did, Lils. I'm going to shower and head to breakfast."

"I, on the other hand, I'm going to go to bed." Jolie muttered as she pulled her blankets over her and closed her eyes.

Lily smiled softly, "Marls's still sleeping, and she's going to have a wicked hangover when she wakes up."

"Pepper-up potion," I added while walking into the bathroom, "I took it this morning and my hangover is gone."

"Thanks, Daphne."

I closed the bathroom door and locked it before going to turn on the shower. I turned it all the way up, I needed a steaming hot shower right now.

For some reason, hot showers always help me think better, and Merlin knows I have a lot to think about.

I stripped out of my clothes from last night, and tan a hand through my hair before I stepped into the hot water. The water ran down my still tanned body before circling down the drain.

My tan is going to be gone soon, and as much as I love it here, I would kill to be back in France. Scotland is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but France is my home.

I guess my home is here. It's not Scotland, it's not Hogwarts, it's not France. It's James, Remus, Sirius, and Jolie. They're my home, not a place.

The Great Hall was filled with students. The first years were still looking at Hogwarts with a sense of amazement and innocence. I remember being amazed and innocent. I would give anything to go back to being eleven with not a care in the world except for writing a potions paper.

Now, at the ripe age of sixteen, I have to face the brink of war, the balance between good and evil. These things alone would be too much for any person. But, being sixteen, I still get all of the emotions and feelings of a teenager all on top of the threats of an upcoming war.

It just makes me so cheery.

Can you hear the sarcasm?

My black sneakers pattered softly as I spotted the boys and walked over to the Gryffindor table.

Sirius had his head down on the table, Remus was sitting next to him, and James was sitting across from him and was chatting with Remus was while eating his pancakes.

Great, I get to sit next to James dearest.

I climbed on the bench next to James, "Hello boys, pass the pancakes please."

"Hey Vixen, feeling better?" Remus asked.

James passed me a plate of pancakes, and I grabbed it from him. Our hands brushed past each other and I quickly pulled my hands away from his, taking the plate with me.

"I am, Moony, thanks."

I stacked two pancakes on my plate and doused them in butter and syrup before reaching for some bacon.

Sirius looked up at me, "How are you so hungry? I feel like I'm going to vomit."

"Please don't talk about vomiting while I'm trying to enjoy my pancakes."

"Shove off, Prongs."

I cleared my throat, "You're just a lightweight, and I haven't eaten anything for over twelve hours."

Padfoot nodded, "Solid."

I stabbed into my pancake and began to dig into my food. I love pancakes. Absolutely adore them. Of course, the crepes are much better, but the pancakes are quite good.

"Oh, guess who I saw heading back to my dorm?" I teased, taking a sip of my coffee.

"Who?" The three boys questioned in unison.

"Jolie," I admitted, "She was just heading to bed for the night. She was with some guy."

"Atta girl!" Sirius exclaimed as he poured himself another cup of coffee.

James laughed, "At least she's getting some."

Yeah, her and seemingly everyone else. No hate to her, I'm just bitter.

"That's better than I can say for myself." I mumbled under my breath, only loud enough for myself to hear.

James spit out his tea.

I guess he heard too.

"What about it, Prongs? Just let me be bitter and alone." I muttered, stabbing into my pancake once more.

Remus stifled a laugh, "What about the French girl you wrote me about?"

I rolled my eyes, "Emphasis on the word French. I'm French, but I live in fucking Scotland."

Sirius chuckled, "Hey, you can't hate on the United Kingdom. We make an amazing cup of tea."

"Well the French make an amazing cup of coffee," I retorted, "I'm bringing you to France with me so you can taste real coffee, not this shit." I pointed to his mug.

"Can I come too?" James questioned, his hazel eyes peering into mine.

I smiled, "Of course, the three of you can come. We can go to Paris."

Paris is amazing. Well, at least the Paris I've been to is. Jolie says the other kind is amazing too.

"We can go to France for the holidays, or the summer. Just the four of us, and Jolie of course, I can't deal with you a lot on my own."

The three boys smiled and nodded in agreement.

James ran his hand through his hair and smiled at me, "I've always wanted to go to France."
