sixty two

November 4th, 1981

It's been four days. Four days since Henry died. Four days since the Dark Lord was killed and rendered too weak to come back until the Prophecy Child, Neville, will be dead from old age.

Frank, Alice, and Neville are allowed to come out of hiding at the end of the week. Just a few extra days as a precaution.

Halloween night was a victory, but also a loss.

"I made breakfast," James said as I stepped into the kitchen.

I smiled, "Good morning, what're you making?"

"Pancakes and eggs."

Stepped over towards where James was cooking and caught sight of the raw eggs cooking on the stove.

My hand flew to my mouth and I booked it out of kitchen with no explanation.

Ducking into the near east bathroom, I barely had time to close the door and hold back my hair before emptying the contents of my stomach into the toilet.

I flushed the toilet before opening the bathroom door, seeing James waiting in the hallway, holding Julian.

"Are you?"

"Pregnant?" I asked. "I don't know, maybe."

James followed me upstairs, bringing Julian with him.

"You should go to the doctor to make sure," James suggested.

I opened our bedroom door and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, James following.

"I can't today," I explained, "I have Henry's funeral."

James frowned, "It's not until this afternoon. If you don't want to go today, we can go some other day."

I brushed my teeth while James talked.

Spitting out my toothpaste and rinsing the sink out, I put my toothbrush back in the holder.

"Fine," I said, "I'll go today. If Healer Diana isn't completely booked."

"You check with her, and I'll see if Sirius and Remus and watch Julian a bit early."

I raised my eyebrow, "You better not tell them why."

"I won't," James promised.

"Pafoo and Moony?" Julian asked.

I took him from James's arms and propped him against my hip as I went back downstairs.

"Yup," I replied, "You're going to hangout with Uncle Padfoot and Uncle Moony."

"Why?"

James laughed, "Mum and dad have something to do."

"Ok," Julian babbled.

Being back in the waiting room of St. Mungo's felt strange. I haven't been here since Julian was born. So, well over a year.

James tapped his foot anxiously as we waited. He's been anxious ever since I threw up this morning.

"Daphne Potter."

James and I got up from our seats in the waiting room and followed Healer Diana back to one of the examination rooms.

She closed the door softly behind us and gestured for us to sit down.

"How've you been?" Healer Diana asked.

"Good," I responded, "Well, my brothers funeral is today, but I've been good."

She had a shocked look on her face for a brief second.

"I'm sorry to hear that."

James cleared his throat.

"Anyways, I think I'm pregnant," I said. "I had morning sickness and I'm late."

"By how long?"

I counted on my fingers, "Three weeks."

"Alright, let's see what we can find out."

I lifted up my shirt and laid back on the examination table as Healer Diana readied the ultrasound machine.

"It's going to be cold."

The cool gel touched the bare skin of my stomach, making me shiver briefly.

Healer Diana moved the transducer probe around, spreading the cool gel.

I could hear James nervously tapping his foot as he watched the ultrasound screen.

Healer Diana stopped moving the transducer probe, and a clear image came up on the screen, followed by a heartbeat.

"Congratulations, you're pregnant!"

James grinned widely as he leaned forward and kissed me on the cheek.

"We're having another baby!"

I nodded, smiling back. "Yeah, we're having another baby," I whispered.

Healer Diana smiled at us, "You're about seven weeks along."

I looked at James, "The wedding."

Healer Diana looked at me, "If you know the conception date, it'll make your due date more accurate."

"September 19th," James replied.

"So you're just under seven weeks along, and your due date is June 12th," Healer Diana explained.

I grinned at James, "I'm excited, are you excited?"

James nodded rapidly, "I'm so fucking excited."

"Congratulations you two," Healer Diana said, "How is Julian doing?"

"Oh, he's great," James responded, "He's so cute."

I agreed, "Julian is amazing, he's with his uncles right now."

"That's good," Healer Diana smiled. "You're all set to go and I'll see you in four weeks, if you have any questions or concerns, you know how to reach me."

"Thank you," I chimed as she exited, leaving James and me alone.

James pressed his lips against mine, still smiling.

"We're having another baby," He said in a singsong voice.

I dropped my jaw, "I just realized, we're going to need a bigger house."

The autumn afternoon light shone through the trees of Godric's Hollow.

Henry was being burying beside our father, despite everything.

Beatrice had organized the funeral, and even though I was angry at her, I wanted a chance to say goodbye to Henry. Plus, our mother wasn't going to be here.

Dressed in black, James and I stepped into the graveyard of Godric's Hollow, our shoes silent against the cobblestone.

I caught sight of Beatrice.

Her long blonde hair stuck out against her black dress and coat.

She was standing alone staring into the hole that containing Henry's casket.

I squeezed James's hand tighter as we got closer to my little sister.

"Hello," I said softly, making sure not to startle her.

Beatrice looked up at me, her bright blue eyes were red and puffy as if she hadn't stopped crying since Henry died.

"You came," Beatrice whispered.

"I did. Is Sebastian coming?"

Beatrice nodded, "He should be here shortly."

We stood in silence, listening to the leaves rustle in the wind.

"I'm so sorry," Beatrice said. "For everything."

I glanced up at Beatrice who was staring down at Henry's casket in the ground.

"Why'd you do it?" I asked, still looking at my little sister.

Beatrice shook her head, "Mom. I wanted to make her proud. She started ranting about pureblood supremacy and saying that she wished at least one of her children could make her proud."

"Lucille's a bitch," I muttered.

Beatrice looked up at me, smiling slightly.

"She is," Beatrice agreed, "But if it means anything, I regret it a lot."

"Did you-," I stuttered, "Did you kill anyone?"

Beatrice shook her head, "No, I never killed or hurt anyone."

"Good," I muttered, "Does Seb know?"

"No."

I nodded, "Let's just keep this between us."

James squeezed my hand in reassurance.

The crack of apparation echoed through the empty graveyard. I watched as my older brother, Sebastian, walked in through the gates of the graveyard.

He was dressed in black as well, a solemn look on his face.

Beatrice ran into his arms, hugging him tightly. Her head was dug into his shoulder.

"I missed you lot," Sebastian said.

I smiled sadly, "I missed you too."

Beatrice finally let go of Sebastian and my brother hugged me next.

"Where's Penelope?" I asked.

Sebastian pulled away from the hug, "She is busy working and wedding planning."

James shook Sebastian's hand next.

"Good to see you."

"You too, Sebastian."

Sebastian looked into the grave, staring at Henry's dark oak coffin.

"Are we going to say a few words?" Sebastian asked.

Beatrice shrugged, "You can if you want, I've been here awhile so I already said my goodbyes."

Sebastian nodded.

"I-, I'm just going to say goodbye in my head," I muttered, "I'm not very good with words."

James held my hand even tighter as I stared at the grave of my nineteen year old brother.

He was too young. He made bad choices, but he never was a bad person.

"Can I ask who killed him?" Sebastian asked softly.

Beatrice opened her mouth to speak, but I cut her off.

"Bellatrix Lestrange," I stated.

James gave me an unreadable look.

I don't know why I feel the need to protect Beatrice. She made bad choices, but I can see why she did. Like most of my issues, they stem from Lucille.

Growing up with that type of mother, one who demands perfection and obedience, it ruins you in some way, shape, or form.

When everyone was done saying their goodbyes, we all put a shovel full of dirt over the casket.

The mood was more depressing than it was when we got here, and the sun decided to stay hidden behind the clouds.

"I think that we should tell them," I whispered to James as the four of us began to leave the graveyard.

James nodded, "I think so too."

When we reached the gates of the cemetery, Beatrice and Sebastian were preparing to say goodbye.

"I want to tell you both something," I said, grabbing their attention.

Beatrice looked at me, her blue eyes still puffy from the effects of grieving.

Sebastian stuffed his hands into his coat pockets, "What's up?"

I glanced at James quickly.

"The mood is really dark right now, but I just wanted you two to be the first to know."

My two siblings stared at me confused.

"We're having another baby," I said.

Beatrice's face lit up, "Really?"

"Congratulations!" Sebastian explained, hugging me.

James grinned, "We found out this morning."

"I'm really happy for you," Beatrice said, her arms by her sides.

I went to my sister and hugged her.

While I don't like the things that she did, I now know why she was compelled to do them.

"I want us to be sisters again," I whispered.

Beatrice nodded against my shoulder, "Me too."

"Thanks for watching him."

Remus handed Julian to me. "Of course, we love him," He replied. "Is there any reason why you called Jolie and Reggie over too?"

"Yes," James commented, "We just got back from Henry's funeral."

The room went uncomfortably silent, even though they all knew that's where we were.

"We did, but that's not why you're all here," I said.

Sirius frowned, "Wow, I thought you lot just wanted to come over to hangout with me."

"Don't be a drama queen," Jolie joked.

Sirius was about to argue back to Jolie, but James cut him off.

"Shut up, we're trying to make an announcement," James announced.

I looked at my son, smiling at him.

"What? Did Julian learn how to climb stairs?" Sirius teased.

James rolled his eyes, "As a matter of fact, he learned that two weeks ago."

"Oh shut it, you two!" I said, raising my voice.

This made Sirius and James both shut up while Remus, Jolie, and Regulus looked amused at the two boys.

"Julian is going to be a big brother," I stated.

"Are you getting another pet?" Sirius asked.

Remus smacked him on the head, "No, she's pregnant you idiot!"

"Wait-, really?" Sirius yelled.

I nodded, "We found out this morning."

Jolie jumped from from the couch and hugged me tightly, making Julian irritated that she was hugging
the both of us and not just him.

"Congratulations!" Regulus exclaimed.

Sirius hugged James, "Damn, you have some strong swimmers."

James high-fived his best friend, "Damn right, I do."

"When's your due date?" Jolie asked excitedly.

"June 12th," James answered.

Regulus was counting on his fingers, back nine months.

"Wait-, does that mean-"

"Yes," I answered, "Our unborn child was conceived during your wedding reception."

Remus laughed.

"Why are all of your children conceived on our birthdays or wedding days? Bloody hell!" Sirius exclaimed.

Jolie raised her eyebrow at me, "I'm not even mad, I'm impressed."

"Wait, this baby is going to be a Gemini," Sirius interrupted.

James furrowed his brows, "Is that a bad thing?"

"No, it will be entertaining though, especially since Julian is a Leo."

"Mate, what are you talking about?" Regulus asked.

Sirius rolled his eyes at his younger brother. "Don't even get me started, I'll just let you burrow my book."

As it got dark outside, I sat in the living room of two of my best friends house, surrounding by my husband, my son, and all of my friends who are truly my family.

And for the first time in a long time, I felt at peace with the world.
