eighteen
The next morning we were all up bright and early, running around the house as we packed our trunks last minute. When the alarm went off at eight in the morning, I had to practically drag James out of bed to pack and get ready to head to Kings Cross Station.
I was hauling my trunk down the staircase as I listened to Sirius scream for everyone in the foyer.
He had gotten up extra early so that he could run and get brunch for all of us to eat once we got on the train, and Sirius was waiting for all of us in the foyer.
James came rushing down the staircase right behind me, "Shut the fuck up!"
"Get your arse down here!"
"Both of you, shut up!" I screamed, dropping my trunk on the floor of the foyer.
Remus came walking in from the kitchen, carrying a to-go cup of coffee for me. I gladly took it, "Thanks Moony, you're a saint."
Sirius took a sip of my coffee before handing it back to me, "Can we go now?"
"I'm ready," James mumbled, "Ready to get away from you're noisy arse."
Sirius smirked, "You're just so excited to go back to being my roommate, aren't you?"
James glared at Sirius as he stepped up to the fireplace, trunk in his hands.
"I am ecstatic." James scoffed, grabbing a handful of Floo powder.
I stifled a laugh as James yelled his destination.
"PLATFORM 9 3/4."
Sirius stepped into the fireplace next, as soon as the green flames and smoke subsided. Remus followed after Sirius, leaving me standing alone in the living room.
I sighed as I silently said my goodbyes to my favorite city and the memories that we had created here.
Grabbing a handful of Floo powder, I stepped into the fireplace and closed my eyes, preparing for the twisting and turning.
"PLATFORM 9 3/4."
I opened my eyes as the dust subsided, and stepped out of the fireplace, brushing nonexistent soot off of my jumper-, well James' quidditch jumper.
I didn't even have time to register my surroundings as I was pulled into a bone-crushing hug.
"Daph!"
My arms quickly embraced Jolie back, her blonde hair blocking my view of the boys who were most definitely laughing.
Jolie abruptly pulled away from our hug and hit me upside the head.
"Oi!"
"That was for not telling me that you and Potter are dating!"
I looked up at Jolie and saw that she was now smiling, a million different questions running through her head.
"You have to tell me everything."
I laughed, "Oh, I will."
James, in my peripheral vision, gave me an odd look, followed by his signature smirk.
"Well-, maybe not everything."
Sirius coughed, "Big house, but I have very good hearing."
James and I blushed red as the other three people began to laugh.
"Come on," Remus laughed, "We don't wanna miss the train."
James took my trunk from my hand and kissed me on the cheek before he bounded onto the train, followed closely by Remus and Sirius.
Jolie rolled her eyes at the boys, "So, when did that happen?"
I stepped onto the train, Jolie trailing close behind me. "Christmas."
"And when did you sleep with him?"
"Sexually or actual sleeping?"
Jolie's eyes widened, "Both?"
"We sleep better together, so we shared a room for the whole holiday." I lowered my voice as we pushed past people. "As for the other kind of sleeping together, a bit before New Year's eve."
I slid open the compartment door, giving the boys a quick smile as Jolie and I stepped in.
Jolie smirked, "Interesting."
Remus grabbed Jolie's trunk from her hands and tucked it in the overhead compartment as I sat down in between James and Jolie.
"James knows French, by the way." I mumbled to Jolie.
She turned to James and glared, "You son of a bitch-, muffilato."
"Clever, Jo."
"Now I need the details."
James was rolling his eyes at us, eager to be apart of our conversation, while Sirius teased him relentlessly, and Remus opened a chocolate frog.
"You'll need to be more specific." I teased.
Jolie crossed her legs and gave me a look, "Was it good? How big was-"
"Um-, yes, it was amazing." I cut her off quickly. "It was really good."
She grinned, "Good-, just don't get pregnant."
I rolled my eyes, "You're one to talk."
Jolie flipped me off and pulled out her wand, reversing the spell.
"What'd you talk about?" James asked as Jolie and I's voice became unmuffled.
I kissed him on the cheek, "Can't give away all my secrets."
Jolie pretended to gag herself, "Merlin, it's going to take me a while to get used to this."
All of us burst out into laughter, which was cut off by Jolie.
"Jamesy, I like you-, but if hurt Daphne, I will not hesitate to go all Killing Curse on your arse."
James held up his hands in surrender, "Don't worry, I'm not planning on it."
The rest of the train ride went by quickly. We all spent time catching up, eating the food that Sirius had brought, and laughing. Jolie told us all about her holiday in Italy, where she found a very attractive Italian man and ate a lot of amazing food.
As the train rolled to the station at Hogsmeade, the boys helped us get our trunks down and we stepped out onto the platform.
Our group began to walk towards the carriages that were waiting to take us back to the castle when someone yelled my name.
"Oi!, Beaufort!"
I turned around in the direction that it came from, making eye contact with Marlene and Lily.
They came running over and took turns hitting Jolie and me. When Lily released me from our hug, Marlene exclaimed, "I saw the Prophet! Is it true?"
James came up from behind and wrapped his arms around my waist, kissing me on the cheek, "It sure is, McKinnon."
Lily smiled, "Congratulations, you two!"
"Wow-, the Prophet wasn't lying, that's a first!" Marlene teased, "I'm happy for both of you."
"Thanks, ladies! Catch you later?"
They both nodded in agreement as they rushed off to catch a carriage with Dorcas and Mary.
"Lovebirds! Let's get going!" Sirius yelled as Remus pulled him into a carriage.
Jolie climbed in after them, and I followed, dragging James in with us.

When we walked into the Great Hall, everyone turned to look at James and me, some of them even had copies of the Daily Prophet in their hands.
Jolie shot daggers at a couple of people who wouldn't stop staring, scaring them away.
"Yes, they're dating! Stop staring, it's fucking rude!" Jolie yelled as several girls looked like they wanted to kill me.
I nudged my best friend, "Don't create a scene."
"I'm not, but I will throw hands."
Sirius pouted, "How come people aren't staring at Moony and me, we look hot as fuck."
"That's because most people don't know that we're dating, darling." Remus replied as he took a seat at the Gryffindor table, Sirius sitting beside him.
I laughed, "Exactly-"
"But-, I'm hot as fuck. People should be staring at me whenever they see me."
Jolie scoffed, "You have quite the ego."
Sirius narrowed his eyes at Jolie but was quickly distracted as Mary MacDonald and Lily Evans sat down beside him. Marlene sat down next to Jolie, who was sitting to the left of me, while James was sitting to my right, his hand on my thigh under the table.
"Hello, Sirius. How was your holiday?" Lily asked in her ever so sweet voice.
Sirius grinned, "Paris is beautiful, the food-, and alcohol are amazing."
"I'm glad you had a good time."
Marlene leaned in to look at James and me, "I take it that you all had a good holiday."
"It was awful actually." James teased.
The three girls shot him a concerned look.
"I'm only kidding-, yeah, it was great."
Remus coughed, "How were your holidays, ladies?"
"Birmingham was nice, it snowed like crazy though!" Mary laughed.
Lily nodded, "It's a cute city."
Marlene rolled her eyes at the two of them, "Yeah, yeah, it was great. How was Italy?"
With a smirk, Jolie began telling our roommates about her Italian Christmas, until she was cut off by Dumbledore's 'Welcome Back' speech.
It seemed to drag on forever.
James groaned, "I just want some damn food."
I leaned my head on his shoulder, "Me too, love."
He quickly kissed me on the forehead and turned his attention back to Dumbledore, who was finally wrapping up his speech.
The plates upon plates of food appeared on the table, and everyone immediately began to dig in. I dished out some mashed potatoes, carrots, salad, and roast beef onto my plate, eager to eat dinner.
We all ate our dinner in peace, aside from the occasional odd glance towards James and me, which Sirius returned with a glare. We were talking amongst ourselves until dinner was finished and we were sent up to our common rooms.
James got up and offered me his hand, which I gladly took, intertwining my fingers with his.
He stroked my hand with his thumb as we walked out of the Great Hall, trailing behind our other friends.
"I guess everyone saw the Prophet." I laughed, looking up at James.
His eyes were sparkling in the candlelit corridor, amplifying the hidden blue flecks among his hazel eyes. "Really? I didn't notice."
I nudged my hip against his, "At least I didn't get called a gold digger this time."
James chuckled, "At least I didn't get called a gold digger."
"Says the heir to the Sleek-Eazy fortune."
"Says the daughter of a rich, French, pureblood family with a bit of veela."
I smirked, "Maybe I've been using my veela charm on you this whole time."
"You wouldn't!" James teased, clapping his hand over his mouth dramatically.
When we reached the common room, we were far behind our friends, our hands still intertwined. I was about to step inside the portrait hole, but James tugged on my arm, pulling me back.
I stumbled into him and he pulled me into a kiss, his hands quickly finding their place on my hips, as my hands laid flat against his chest.
James pulled away from the kiss, "I will miss sleeping with you right beside me."
"As will I," I smiled, "Don't worry, we can have sleepovers."
James laughed, "Intriguing, you are quite good at silencing spells."
I playfully hit his arm, "I said sleepovers, as in where we sleep. We can find time for what you have in mind."
James kissed me, "Brilliant."
I grabbed James' hand once again and pulled him into the common room with me after muttered the password to the Fat Lady.
Sirius was the first person to see us walk in. He jumped up from his spot on the couch and threw his arms around James.
"Prongs-, you can't leave me alone with that much estrogen!" He claimed as he looked back at the four girls, and Remus.
James furrowed his brows, "Moony was here."
"But he's my boyfriend-, you're my best friend. It's very different."
I laughed, "I thought you and Remus were 'best friends who occasionally kiss'?"
"Well-," Sirius looked flustered, "That was when I thought I was straight."
James rolled his eyes at Sirius before walking further into the common room and sitting down in one of the plush chairs. He pulled me onto his lap, and I stretched my legs out, letting them fall over the arm of the velvet chair.
Lily smiled at us, "You two are adorable."
"Daphne, you're lucky." Marlene sighed. "All the guys I've dated were either closeted gays-," She shot a look at Sirius, "Or are total douches."
Sirius raised his hands, "It wasn't you, darling."
We all laughed at this, while Remus blushed slightly.
It was nice to be around all of my friends again-, not just the boys. They were all so accepting and happy for us.
So we spent the next few hours talking until people got tired and went up to their dormitory's to go to bed.
When only James and I were left, I kissed him softly on the lips, the sound of the fire crackling in the fireplace behind us was the only other sound in the common room.
I pulled away, "Goodnight, love."
James pulled me back in for another kiss, "Goodnight, darling."
I reluctantly got up from James' lap and skipped up the stairs, ready to fall asleep in my bed. Even if I would be sleeping alone.
