Chapter 5 Call from Space
Chole smiled. She knew he made it. She was sure of it as much as she was sure about her love for him. She heard a beep come from her computer. She took a look and smiled. She was surprised it was an incoming call from space. She hit the button that accepted the charges.
"Hello, Chole," Nathaniel's voice came over the intercom.
"Hello, Nathaniel," Chole said.
"So, how are things in space?" She asked.
"Alright, but I have missed you," Nathaniel said.
"You have?" Chole seemed surprised to hear him say that to her.
"Yes, I have," Nathaniel said. He wished he could give her a kiss. He blushed. Where had that thought come from?
"You okay?" He asked.
"Yes, but it is rather lonesome here," Chole told him. Without you, she thought.
"I see, well, I will be sure to drop by once I am back on earth," Nathaniel assured her. "You will?" Chole asked. She sounded pleased. "Yes," Nathaniel stated. He sighed.
"You sure are pretty, Chole Bougerious," Nathaniel said.
"Oh, stop it you," She said. "I will not stop. You are pretty. I know it and so does everyone else. Chole, I can't wait to see you." He said. "Good, because I can't wait to see you, handsome," Chole said. She wished she could see his reaction to what she had said.
"I will be seeing you in three weeks," Nathaniel said.
"I shall count the days," Chole told him.
The call ended and Sabrina shook her head. "What?" Chole asked.
"I shall count the days. Girl, why didn't you tell him you like him?" Sabrina asked. "I am Chole Bougerious, the mayor's stuck-up daughter, and I could not possibly tell him that," She said.
"Chole, not everyone thinks that way about you. Nathaniel is different. Who knows? Maybe he even likes you," Sabrina remarked.
I laughed, I thought, there is no way he likes me. I mean, he doesn't right?
I shook my head. "Sabrina, he does not see me that way. He probably only likes me as a friend." I stated.
I sighed. I know he returns soon. Three weeks he had said. I smiled. Yes, in three weeks' time, I would be able to see him and tell him face to face.
Who was I kidding? I could not even say it over the intercom when he had called me from space.
I was pathetic. That was what I was. I used to tease Marinette about her crush on Adrien and she was with him. Here I am, unable to tell the boy, I like, maybe even love, that I like him. Agh, what is the matter with me?
"One phone call does not prove a thing," I stated. I knew it sounded like I was in denial and maybe I was, but I was used to being disappointed. My first crush was Adrien and he liked Marinette. My second crush Nathaniel probably wanted to see me so he could tell me all about whoever she was and asked my advice about her. Yes, that must be it.
"Chole, I am not blind. I can tell he likes you," Sabrina argued. "Hey, listen, I will help you style your hair. I will make it up so nice for his return." She said. "You will?" I asked. "Sure, I have got it covered, I am your best friend," Sabrina said. I hugged her, "Thank you. Thank you Sabrina for always being there for me. I have been a bad best friend, and I thank you for everything," I said. Sabrina hugged me. "Chole, it is fine. I am glad to help." She said.
"You know, Miles called me last night," Sabrina blushed ."He did? Awe, that is sweet. " I said.
"Yes, It sure is and I told him, I will be happy to be his girlfriend," Sabrina added. "Wow, that is great. I am happy for you and Miles," I stated.
Three weeks would not be soon enough, I thought. When the day arrived, I would make sure to be ready. As ready as I possibly could be that is.
The story continues in Chapter 6
