It's the streaming light that causes you to stir, gradually waking your senses and signalling your body to arise. But as your eyes peek open even the slightest, the golden rays burn your vision and you squint them shut again, inwardly groaning. It's not the only inconvenience that causes you discomfort. Your neck aches, the pain travelling all the way down your spine to your lower back.

This growing awareness causes you to awake fully eventually and you open your eyes, taking in your surroundings. The unfamiliarity of the place answers all the approaching questions in your head almost immediately.

You're still in Baekhyun's living room. No wonder your body hurts, you fell asleep on the couch. With him. You don't even remember falling asleep, all you remember is talking endlessly about things you never thought you'd tell anyone.

Feeling a body of warmth pressed against yours, you turn your head to see Baekhyun's peaceful sleeping face, his arm wrung around your body. Seeing him up so close again heats your cheeks. You admire the placid gentlemen and the delicate features upon his face all from his dark eyelashes to his pink lips. His fluffy hair falls into a cute mess, begging you to run your fingers through them

Letting out a quiet breath, you never thought you'd ever meet someone like this because at the same time you honestly don't know what's going to happen next. He's still a complete stranger. Although after last night you feel like he's the person you know the most in the world.

Catching a glimpse of the clock on the wall, your eyebrows shoot into your hairline. "Shit."

Your body jumps out of Baekhyun's grasp, expecting him to wake up but he doesn't move an inch, remaining in his deep slumber. You think to at least give him a note saying thank you, there's nothing much else you can do. Finding a random piece of paper on the table and grabbing any pen you can see, you scribble down: 'Thanks for letting me stay last night.'

There's nothing else that comes to your head to write down and your pen hovers over the paper momentarily. Glancing back at Baekhyun, you stare at him for a moment longer, thinking whether this is the last time you'll see him.

Maybe I should leave my number?

But your anxiety gets the best of you and you start to think of all the wrong things that can come with doing that.

"Ugh." You grab your jacket, frustrated with yourself and leave.

"Well, look who decided to turn up."

Mark is quick to speak from behind the counter as soon as he hears the bell ring when you enter the bakery. He's smiling in a mocking way, clearly not impressed by your late arrival.

"Sorry, I overslept. My phone died and I didn't have my charger." Your words come out rushed as you hurriedly tie your hair up into a messy bun and grab your apron off the hook.

This causes Mark to raise an eyebrow at you. "Why didn't you have your charger?"

His question stumps you and your fingers pause in the middle of tying the apron behind your back. Uh...

Shall we explain how you decided to stay at a stranger's house without making it sound weird?

Taeyong gets up from a table near the window to refill his cup of coffee. You didn't even realise he was here this early. "Why else, Mark? Lil Y/N got some action last night."

You narrow your eyes at him, "No I didn't, Taeyong."

"What? There's nothing wrong with a one night stand." He takes a sip of his coffee, still staring at you. "It's just like our old times." He sends a wink, causing you to roll your eyes.

Some guys won't let stuff like that go.

Mark clears his throat, visibly uncomfortable. "So...Y/N, you might wanna take the bread out of the oven."

"Gladly." You rip your eyes off Taeyong and make your way over to the oven, sliding on a pair of oven mitts.

The bell rings and another person walks in, joining the crew. You're not sure who else would come in this early but you take a hopeful guess. As you turn around and see that you're right, a grin lights up your face. "Tae!"

Taehyung grins back at you, eyes small and gleeful. "Hey, beautiful."

He walks over to Taeyong and they bring each other in for a bro hug. Mark gives him a stud while you struggle to get the bread out the oven. The bakery has automatically lit up, the atmosphere brightening by a thousand suns. It's just the impact Taehyung has on every room he enters.

"What's up gang gang?" He says cheesily, leaning against the counter as he admires the freshly baked bread.

Your face scrunches as you cringe, "Please never say that again."

He nods, "Noted."

The other two boys chuckle. There's nothing really special about this friendship group except for the fact that you all met at this bakery and would basically only meet up at this bakery. Except for Taehyung, he's a more in-demand person that you need to see more often in order to stay sane in this world. All of you are just a bunch of young adults, trying to figure out how to start a new life.

Mark had just finished his gap year, starting fresh at university. Although you started working at the bakery way before him, he's already proven how much better he is than you at the job. Taehyung is close to finishing university already, his plans are finally starting to fall into place. And Taeyong...Taeyong just does whatever he wants. You don't think anyone really knows what he's doing. He appears to be on an infinite gap year. But he can easily afford it coming from a rich family, he has no need to worry about his future.

"By the way, Taehyung, I, uh, need to talk to you." Taking off your oven mitts, you grab the sleeve of his hoodie and drag him away, causing the others to question what's happening.

Taehyung obeys, letting you pull him to a corner of the bakery.

"So, there's a pretty big favour I need to ask you...why are you looking at me like that?"

His eyes wander up and down your form. "Why are you in pyjamas? Are they even yours?"

You look down at yourself, eyes widening. "Fuck."

"Fuck?"

Looking back up at him, you don't know what to say. Shit, this meant I left my clothes at his place.

"I may have stayed over at someone's place last night.", you awkwardly smile, trying to avoid his gaze.

His eyebrows furrow, "Huh? Who? Anyone I know?"

You shake your head. "No, I don't think so. I didn't really know him either."

Now his eyes broaden, "Him? Wait, was this dude a complete stranger?"

You sigh, "Correct."

"So, you're wearing a complete stranger's clothes."

"Also correct."

"And that means that you...?" He doesn't seem sure about what you've just told him.

"No! I didn't, jeez, why does everyone think that?" You exclaim, trying to calm your cheeks from blushing again.

"What do you expect when you tell me stuff like that?"

"Listen." Tucking a strand of hair behind your ears, you decide to get straight to the point. "I only stayed at his place last night because I got kicked out of my apartment which comes back to the favour I have to ask you-"

"You want to stay at my place?" He's already pieced it all together, his face changing once he does. Just from his expression, you can tell it won't be good news. "Y/N...my dorm doesn't allow any girls or anyone to stay over. If I get caught, I'd get kicked out."

Your shoulders drop and as they do, you feel all your hopes drop with them, a burdening feeling of doom enclosing on your chest. Why did you even ask? Of course, you wouldn't be able to.

"Right. Of course." You look away.

Taehyung reaches out and then pulls back his hand, wishing he could put a roof over your head. Reaching out again, he pulls you into a hug and you snuggle into him, burying your nose into his soft hoodie. "It's okay. I'll figure out something. I always do."

It's always been your job to pick yourself back up and get yourself out of these situations. But at this point, you feel like you can't save yourself. You need a miracle to save you again or an angel.

The noise of the bell rings throughout the bakery and you pull yourself out of Taehyung's hug to return to your job, leaving him staring after you worriedly.

"Welcome.", you say in a bland tone as you return to behind the counter without looking at the customer. "How may I help you?"

"I've actually come to help you."

At the smooth voice, your head springs up and you're shocked to see Baekhyun standing there innocently. He smiles at you gracefully, tilting his head at you. The beaming sun from outside shines from behind him, causing him to outline his body with a beautiful glow.

Speaking of angels.
