(Anna POV)

The past week has been rough for everybody. Jacob and I haven't been able to see Bella because we have to patrol and look for Victoria. While the pack and I are hunting Victoria, Charlie and Harry are hunting us. Bella's nightmares are starting to come back without being able to hang out with Jake. We are actually chasing after Victoria right now. Victoria got a hold of Harry but Jake rips her off. Jake and I end up being the only ones that follow after her. We chase her to a cliff edge and she jumps off into the water. I end up smelling Bella, so I read her mind and see that she is about to jump.

"Jake, we got to go now! It's Bella!" I say through the mind link as we take off running for the beach. Jake is able to phase back and change faster than I can so he goes into the water after Bella. Before I phased back I see through the mind link that Harry had a heart attack and didn't make it.

"Bella. Please. Breathe! Breathe! Come on, Bella. Breathe," Jake says as he gives her mouth to mouth. Bella starts coughing up water.

"Bella? Bella, can you hear me?" I ask her.

"Jake. Anna," Bella says.

"What the hell were you thinking, huh?" I ask her even though I already knew.

"I just needed to see something," Bella answers.

"Take her home. I'm gonna go help over at Harry's place," Sam says as he passes by before heading into the woods.

"What happened at Harry's?" Bella asks and I could see the confusion on Jake's face as well.

"Harry Clearwater had a heart attack. Billy and our Dad are at Harry's place with his family," I answer.

"Is he okay?" Jake asks.

"He's gone," I answer.

"Come on, I'll give you something dry to wear and drive you both home," Jake says. We go to his house and get Bella some clothes then we head to Bella's and I's house. Bella is sitting between Jake and I but not touching us. She is shivering. "Hundred and eight degrees over here."

"God! My hands are freezing. It must be nice, never getting cold. It's a wolf thing," Jake says sharing a glance with me.

"It's not. It's a Jacob thing," Bella says and I roll my eyes. "You're just warm. You're like, your own sun."

"This is better. Now that you know about me," Jake says.

"But?" Bella asks.

"You saw what happened to Emily. Sam got angry, lost it for a split second. Em was standing too close. He will never be able to take that back. What if I get mad at you? Sometimes I feel like, I'm gonna disappear," Jake explains.

"You're not gonna lose yourself. I won't let that happen," Bella says.

"How?" Jake asks.

"I'll tell you all the time. How special you are," Bella says and I almost lose it.

"Thank you for everything," I say opening the door to the truck seeing as we had stopped.

"Wait!" Jake says and I slam the door closed smelling it too. "There's a vampire."

"How do you know?" Bella asks.

"I can smell it," Jake answers.

"Get her out of here," I say before hopping out of the truck.

"That's Carlisle's car! They're here," I hear Bella say.

"Bella, it's a trick. Stop! You gotta come with me," Jake pleads.

"They won't hurt me," Bella says getting out of the truck. I had already figured out that it was only Alice.

"If a Cullen is back here, this is their territory. The treaty says we can only defend our own lands. I can't protect you here," Jake explains.

"Okay, it's okay. You don't have to," Bella says.

"You're about to cross a line," Jake tells her.

"Then don't draw one. Please," Bella says before running into the house.

"I'll protect her, you know that. It's only one of them and not him," I say before heading inside hearing Jake slam the truck door closed.

"Alice!" Bella says as they run into each other.

"You're dead! Bella?" Alice says and Bella hugs her. "What are you..."

"I'm sorry, I just... I can't believe you're here. Is... Is...?" Bella explains.

"Would you like to explain to me how you're alive?" Alice asks.

"What?" Bella asks.

"I saw a vision of you. You jumped off a cliff. Why in the hell would you try and kill yourself? I mean, what about Charlie? What about...?" Alice questions.

"I didn't try to kill myself. I was cliff jumping. Recreationally! It was fun," Bella answers and I snort while rolling my eyes at her answer.

"I have never met anyone more prone to life-threatening idiocy," Alice says.

"Did you... did you tell him?" Bella asks.

"No. He only calls once every few months. He said he wants to be alone," Alice answers before scrunching her nose. "Aw, what is that God awful wet dog smell?" I roll my eyes and snort again.

"That's probably me. Or... it's Jacob," Bella says.

"Jacob who?" Alice asks.

"Jacob's kind of a werewolf," Bella explains timidly.

"Ugh! Bella! Werewolf's are not good company to keep!" Alice says.

"Speak for yourself," I say at the same time Jake does. How did I not hear him come into the house?

"I had to see if you were safe," Jake explains.

"I thought you couldn't protect me here," Bella says.

"Guess, I don't care," Jake says.

"Well, I'm not gonna hurt her," Alice says innocently.

"No, you're just a harmless Cullen. We're talking about the other bloodsucker who tried to kill Bella because of you," Jake explains.

"Victoria?" Alice asks.

"Yeah, Victoria has been around," I answer her.

"I didn't see her. I didn't see you getting pulled out of the water either. I can't see past you and your pack of mutts!" Alice accuses. I quickly step in front of Jake knowing he was going to get mad.

"Don't get me upset," Jake says.

"Hey, stop!" I tell him.

"Things are gonna get very ugly!" Jake continues.

"Stop! Stop! Stop!" Bella says coming and pushing him back.

"I will give you a minute," Alice says.

"You're not going anywhere, you're gonna come back, right?" Bella asks her.

"As soon as you put the dog out," Alice says before leaving. I walk into the kitchen to get away from them but they follow.

"Is he...? Are there others? How many Cullens are here and how long are they staying?" Jake asks.

"No. It's just Alice. And she can stay as long as she like," Bella says.

"Are the rest coming back?" Jake asks.

"No. Not that I know of. Anything else?" Bella asks irritated.

"That's it," Jake answers.

"Well, if that's all, then you better go run back to Sam," Bella says.

"I have done it again. I keep breaking my promise," Jake says.

"We don't have to do this to each other," Bella says.

"Yes, we do. Bella stay with me forever," Jake says and I growl but it is covered up by the phone ringing.

"Swan Residence," Jake answers. "He's not here right now. He's arranging a funeral."

"Who is that?" Bella asks as Jake hangs up. "What?"

"Always in the way," Jake says and starts slightly shaking. I stand between Bella and Jake.

"Who was that?" Bella asks again.

"Bella, step back," I tell her.

"Jacob, who was that?" Bella asks.

"Stop asking him, Bella," I tell her harshly. I step forward and put my hand on Jake's arm. I see him calm down some. The imprint bond would work better but it's not the time for that yet. Plus, he's in love with Bella.

"Bella, it was Edward. He thinks you are dead. Rosalie told him, why I came here," Alice explains coming in.

"Why would you...? Why didn't you let me speak to him?" Bella accuses Jake.

"He didn't ask for you," Jake says and I feel his anger starting to build back up.

"I don't care!" Bella says.

"Bella, he's going to the Volturi. He wants to die too," Alice says. Bella decides to go with Alice to stop him.

"He left you, Bella. He didn't want you anymore, remember?" Jake says trying to get her to stay.

"But I'm not gonna let him kill himself out of guilt," Bella says.

"What about your Dad?" Jake asks.

"I'm eighteen, I'm legally free to go. Anna knows and I left a note," Bella answers.

"Please, Bella. Just... stay here. Not for Charlie. Not for Anna. For me..." Jake begs.

"I gotta go," Bella says.

"I'm begging you. Please," Jake pleads.

"Bye, Jacob," Bella says and Alice takes off. I read Jake's mind seeing that he was breaking and trying his best to fight the phase. To help him out I pull him into a hug. It calms him down to where he won't phase.

"Let's go to the Clearwater's. We need to help out. You need to let Sam know and I'll tell Charlie something," I explain and he nods. We phase before heading to the Clearwater's.
