(ANNA POV)

A few hours later we eat at Emily's before Jake takes Bella home with me following.

"You know, Edward could at least respect meal times," Charlie says as we walk through the door. I then a smell a vampire and head upstairs to investigate because it was not Edward.

"I was just with Jake. We both were," Bella says.

"Oh..." Charlie says then there's a knock on the door. "I'll just give you two some privacy then."

"Hey," Bella says as she opens the door.

"Do you understand how worried I've been?" Edward asks.

"I was perfectly safe. Anna was there too," Bella explains.

"I almost break the treaty to make sure of it," Edward says then he picks up the smell.

"I know, I smell like a dog. I'm sorry," Bella says thinking it was her.

"No, no. Something's wrong," Edward says and I hear them coming up the stairs. I had tracked the smell to Bella's room. A shirt was missing because it was not where I had laid it this morning.

"Edward, what's wrong?" Bella asks when they come into the room.

"Someone's been in here," I say. We head to the Cullen's while Emmett and Jasper come check it out.

"Who was it? Someone, we know?" Carlisle asks.

"Just a stranger. I didn't recognize his scent," Edward answers.

"A nomad passing through?" Esme suggests.

"A passer-by wouldn't have left Bella and Anna's father alive," Carlisle states.

"His scent disappeared about five miles south of Bella's house," Jasper says as him and Emmett enters the house.

"Someone's orchestrating this," Edward says.

"Victoria?" I ask.

"I would've seen her deciding," Alice says.

"It has to be the Volturi," Bella states.

"I don't think it's the Volturi either. I've been watching Aro's decisions, too," Alice explains.

"So we keep looking," Emmett says.

"We also take shifts, guarding Bella at her house," Edward says.

"Another protection detail?" Rosalie asks.

"Rosalie," Esme goes to scold her.

"No, she's right. You can't protect me, watch my dad, watch Anna," Bella says making me roll my eyes at my name. "...and search for the intruder. And for Victoria. And keep yourselves fed."

"I'm not leaving you here defenseless," Edward says.

"Well, I'm not gonna let you starve. And I wouldn't be unprotected, I have," Bella says turning to me.

"I'll talk to Sam and Jacob," I say before turning and leaving. Sam agrees, so Jake and I meet Edward and Bella back at the house.

"Whoever it was, he left his stink behind. It'll be hard to miss when we cross it again. We'll handle it from here," Jake says as he comes out of the house.

"We don't need you to handle anything. Or anyone," Edward says pissed.

"I could care less what you need," Jake says getting mad.

"Alright, we're done here," Edward says.

"No, you're done here," Jake argues.

"Stop. I'm tired of this. From now on I'm Switzerland, Okay?" Bella says. Jacob then leaves and Edward not long after. The next day Bella is to spend the day at the reservation while the Cullen's go hunting. She stays with Jake all day while I'm with the pack helping to prepare for the council meeting. I hear when Jake and Bella show up.
"Aren't they secret?" Bella asks.

"We all got a role to play. And you're a part of this. I mean, it's the first time Seth, Leah, and Quil are hearing them, too. But you are the first outsider. Ever," Jake says not mentioning me.

"If I haven't known that, I would've dressed better. What about Anna?" Bella says making eye contact with me.

"We don't really consider her an outsider, plus she's heard them before," Jake answers.

"Jake," Seth calls heading over to them.

"Hey," Jake says as they hug.

"It's about time, you got here. Paul and Anna have been hovering the grub. But, I saved you some burgers," Seth says with a smile.

"Good looking out, Bro. Bella, this is Seth Clearwater, Leah's brother. The newest member of the pack," Jake explains.

"Newest, bestest, brightest," Seth says jokingly.

"And slowest," Jake says grabbing Seth into a headlock. I whistle letting them know that Billy's about to start.

"Come on. Your dad's about to start," Seth says before joining us by the fire.

"Alright," Jake says as he and Bella come sit by me.

"The Quileutes have been a small tribe from the beginning..." Billy starts as everyone is seated. "But we've always had magic in our blood. We were great spirit warriors... Over time, our enemies have disappeared. But one remains. The Cold Ones. Our magic awakens when they near. And we sense it now, we feel the threat in our blood. Something terrible is coming. And we must all be ready. All of us." We all hang out after that. Jake then takes Bella home. I have patrol.
