My love for you is more precious than any jewels

Theodore pov

I have two purple hyacinths in my hand while I walk into the family cemetery my brother is in the grave next to my father and my mother. I put one hyacinth on the grave of my brother and one on the one of my mom. "Hello mom, hi Basil. I wanted to tell you the news. Basil, you remember April right?" I imagine Basil sitting on his grave. He nods. I smile "I'm engaged. Mom your boy is getting married." I know what Basil would do. He'd give me a kiss on my forehead and would softly smile at me with tears in his eyes. My mom would rejoice and immediately start planning the wedding and I would just laugh about it. I hear footsteps behind me. I expect it to be April when he puts a crimson rose on the grave of my brother. A crimson rose means grief. Just like a blue hyacinth. I look up. It's lord Lennox, Basils old best friend. My father always hated him for no apparent reason. "Congratulations on your engagement, your highness." I laugh. "I never imagined you calling me your highness. You used to call be little shit and other adorable nicknames didn't you, Benoît" he chuckles and nods. "I wouldn't have predicted it sir." "You can just call me Theo like old times." "But it's not like old times really, is it?" He says gesturing at the grave. I shake my head. He sighs, "it's always difficult when somebody disappears out of your life. It's even worse when you blame yourself. Cherish the time with your partner darling" I nod though I don't know why he would know that. He sighs and turn to me. "I have something for you, he grabs inside his pocket of his beautiful double breasted black coat. He gives me the necklace my brother used to wear every single day. It's a medallion and I never knew what pictures were in there but I have always been curious. "It was once used for a love forbidden by people. I want you to have this to celebrate we don't let ourselves be restricted." He give me a tiny little key to unlock it, turns around and walks away. I look at him and yell: "Benoît!" He looks back. "Meet me sometime." I say. He chuckles. "I'm a lonely person Theo. I intend on staying that way." "Why?" "Isn't that a question we always have?" He turn around and walks away, his long red hair swaying in the wind.

a month later

Today is the day I've dreamt about. I honestly didn't think I would ever marry someone, but alas, here we are. And I couldn't be more excited. Altough our country loves traditions April and I have decided not to follow all of them. April made most of the decisions, for me the only thing that matters is actually being able to marry him. I take a deep breath. "Are you nervous?" Cyril asks me. I sigh and nod. "What if it's not absolutely perfect, April would want it to be flawless." Cyril looks at me and smiles. "No Theo, April wants you" I look at the medallion from my brother. I haven't had the nerve to open it, yet. He helps me put on my suit. I'm so nervous. Why am I even nervous? I don't know. I just hope everything will be alright. I look at the medallion and decide to open it. Inside are two pictures, one of me and one picture of Basil and Benoît. You can remove the pictures and there's writing on the back of each photograph. My picture says "I'll keep you safe" and the one with Benoît says "Our love is more precious than jewels." I put them back and close the medallion. I put it in my breast pocket. My white suit looks very normal from the front but the back is made out of beautiful lace. I'm happy it's sunny today because honestly April said if I'd take something with lace I would be freezing the whole time because I am always cold. But I loved this suit too much not to wear it.

I chose bartholomew as my supporter which is a first, normally people will choose their brothers and sometimes best friends but Bartholomew, as my head butler, he saw April and me grow into the couple we are now. I think he deserves a part in this wedding. I do have ushers of course, including friends from boarding school and some friends I knew through my parents. Because neither of us have a remaining father April will walk the aisle alone, well of course not alone. He chose Charlotte, his step sister as his chief bridesmaid. There will be pictures of my parents and basil in remembrance for them.

We're in the church and I'm standing at the altar. When April comes in, the whole world slows down. All I see is him, he is wearing a tiara that's an heirloom of my family, it's beautiful, the emeralds highlight his eyes which are the exact same colour but seem to shine brighter than the stones. His bouquet cosist of a sprig of myrtle, edelweiss and peonies. All symbols of love. He is wearing a white suit that also looks like a dress, it's hard to enxplain but it's beautiful. his hair is in a beautiful los bun. I don't know how this angel of a human ever fell in love with me. He arrives at the altar.

We say our vows, I go first. "I, Clement Theodore Cavendish Windsor, take you, April Alasair Burton, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy law. In the presence of God I make this vow." I feel all warm inside when I say it. I see april can barely hold in his tears while he says/ "I, April Alasair Burton, take you, Clement Theodore Cavendish, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward; for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God's holy law. In the presence of God I make this vow."

We walk down the aisle and put the bouquet on the unkown soldiers grave before going outside where we are finally allowed to kiss. All the cemeras shutter but all I care about is that we are married. I love him so and now the world is free to know.
