Be yourself,
The words that if you've known her for a while you're sure to have heard her
say.
No makeup,
It's a cover,
Will become a familiar phrase.

But what about her?
The girl who carefully picks out clothes when she is shopping,
Just hoping that someone will notice that new sweater,
And compliment her.
Not always in style, but not ever too far out of it either.

Be yourself she says,
Yet no one on this Earth knows exactly who she is.
One single person has come close,
But some of the biggest parts of her and herself remain buried under armor,
And may never be shown.

So they ask,
How can you tell people to be yourself,
When you don't follow your own advice?

It's BECAUSE she doesn't follow her own advice that,
She says it.
BECAUSE she knows how hard it is to act all the time that she says it.

It's BECAUSE she knows how tempting it is to cover your true self,
To hide every blemish,
And to be complimented because of it,
And feel beautiful in that one moment.

So she encourages people,
To be the best, most true, version of themselves they can be,
Because she can't be.
