My Name

To understand this poem,
You must first realize,
That music is my life,
And music is my source of pride.
You must also realize,
That though I love my name,
It also has been
Quite a source of pain.
For example,
My name means the solo where the fat lady sings,
So when I introduce myself,
For musicians the shock momentarily rings.
Most people think,
That don't know me in my normal life, it's true,
That Aria must be a stage name,
A sort of click bait to
Draw people in,
So imagine their surprise,
When I say no,
Truly that is my name, it isn't a lie,
Doesn't it ring?
But alas,
Is that all?
No, see we have just begun,
For my entire life is a joy,
A bagful of fun.
A life of mispronunciation,
Of my name lacking a letter, a certain speaking amendment,
Or maybe a mermaid,
Or maybe a measuring instrument,
All these things you see,
Are simply not my name,
Yet as the internet, it's popularity, decrees,
Still no one has heard of it,
And so hear my plea:
My name is ARIA,
Not Area or Ariel,
Not Ari or Ariana,
Although all those names but one are swell,
I love my name so I ask,
Please pronounce it right,
It simply isn't that difficult,
If you look at it for more than a second in the bright white light.
