Ch. 13 Why So Unlucky?
To be honest, Harry thought that maybe he'd have a nice day.
It started out well, waking up and feeling Ginny's warm presence in the back of his mind, his mum made pancakes, his dad talked to him about the latest Quidditch matches, and Cara was sound asleep.
But then, of course, with his luck, he couldn't have much more peace.
As soon as the owl flew into the room, and he'd seen his mother's pale face, he knew something was wrong.
"It's the..." She muttered towards James, but he had already leaped off the couch and read over her shoulder, hands placed on her stomach.
"Mum?" Harry asked, standing and walking towards them, his mismatched socks scooting across the floor. He shocked himself when he touched the back of a chair.
"Would it be about...?" James trailed off, still reading after Lily finished. She rubbed her eyes, sighing.
"I'm not sure, James. You know how discreet they have to be." She looked over at him. Harry scrunched his eyebrows together.
"Who?"
"Should we pack?" James suggested, placing the letter on the counter. Harry glanced between the two, wondering if they were actually ignoring him.
"What?"
"I don't know, I suppose. You know how long it lasts sometimes."
"What lasts? Why would we-"
"I'll get the bags, you get the baby."
"WHAT IS GOING ON?" Harry slammed his hands onto the table, then blushed heavily as his parents's shocked gazes landed on him, "Uh, please?" He added sheepishly.
"Harry, you know about the Order, right?" James asked, leaning on the counter. Harry nodded, suddenly realized what was going on.
"Well, it seems we'll be spending quite some time there. After the attack and..." He didn't mention it, but Harry knew that his dad was about to say last year.
The year before, Harry had been in the Triwizard Tournament. An honor to some, but not to him. He was forced to compete when he didn't even put his name in the Goblet. It had out both him and Ginny in danger several times, until finally Katrin told them of the Death Eaters's plans to attack Harry during the last task.
Ginny almost ruined her magical core trying to get to him so he could get out of the maze. He healed her in time, but it still scared the both of them to talk about it.
Katrin Boyle is their friend from school. Hufflepuff, with sparkling grey eyes and high cheekbones. She was Ginny's age, and hated Harry's guts. She was less mean to Ginny, but was still distant.
She had been kidnapped by her brother Cain Boyle just before the Second Task, after the Yule Ball. The boy had been tricked into complying with Voldemort's orders. Now, however, they were two completely regular teenagers.
Well, that's what Harry thought.
Anyway, Harry nodded to his father's statement, "Where is it?" He asked. James and Lily exchanged glances.
"We can't say just yet. Not here. Go get packed, we have to leave by sundown."

Short, unedited, crappy chapter. Sorry. I have food poisoning, but it just let up and I decided to attempt to write. Anyway, for any of you wondering what my ships are, I have a new book up! It's 'The Captain's Ships' and it's my opinion on canon and non-canon ships. Feel free to leave suggestions!
