[ Chapter 21 ] I'll Be Good
....................................................................
I had only been to Las Vegas one other time in my life, and strangely enough, Wren accompanied me on both trips.
"We'll be downstairs playing blackjack for a bit," Elias reassured with a kidding smile. "We can meet up for dinner after your spa day?"
"Yes," my mother cooed lovingly. The woman hugged his arm, giving him the brightest smile I'd ever seen. All while I had to fight through the smoke cloud someone had decided to blow into my face. "I'd love to try that steak restaurant down the strip."
"You read my mind," Elias smiled.
"You know," Hayden whispered as he let his hand rest over the small of my back. "You can always ditch the spa and come play poker with us."
"I'd rather not," I smiled snidely back up at him, attempting to shake his hold as I did. "Poker seems lame."
This only made Hayden place his hand on my hip, "I'm sure it does. But you don't really seem like the spa type."
"Sure I am," I tried once more. "I love facials."
"Well, if you love the spa so much, I could always just give you a personal back massage upstairs later. Free of charge."
I shook my head readily, "no thank you."
I charged ahead, leaving Hayden in the dust as I caught up with Wren and Jay. The first floor of the hotel was littered with gamblers and smokers. It was a feat in itself just to get to the front desk.
"Welcome to the Hard Rock," the receptionist greeted, allowing for Elias and my mother to step forward.
I leaned back against the long desk that trailed from one end of the hotel to the other, looking around the vast lobby as I did.
Wren did the same, letting her purse swing back and forth before falling against her legs.
"Fancy meeting you here," she offered, popping her eyebrows up and down teasingly. "What are your plans for this lovely evening?"
I shrugged, pulling out my phone in an attempt to avoid her questioning. She had made it perfectly clear that our fight would go on as long as I saw her an unsuitable girlfriend for Jay, and clearly, I still felt that way.
I frowned as I saw the three missed calls from Zane. He had been needed in New York for the weekend, otherwise, he'd be here with me.
"Trouble in paradise?" Wren offered. "Jay and I haven't had those little long distance problems just yet. We still won't if I decide to move to San Francisco with him."
"What?" I sighed, turning to look at her. "Wren, we've still got another year of college left at CU."
"I know," Wren shrugged. "But it's not like massage therapy is hard. I can always learn hands on. Besides, why do you care anyways?"
"You're my best friend-"
"Really?" She shot back. "You haven't seemed to care about that for a while now."
I rolled my eyes, "I tried before the games started the other day. I want to understand why you've been going after Jay. But I can't if you won't talk with me."
Wren pouted, instead choosing to stay quiet as my mother whirled around to hand out keys.
"Wren and Scarlett, we've booked a room for the both of you to share. No fussing necessary."
I bit my tongue to hold back whatever retort I had.
"Hayden and Jay will be staying down the hall from the both of you, and sadly, Elias and I will be one floor below the four of you. Please behave."
I nodded, pulling my purse over my shoulder before looking over our room information. At least Wren and I would have separate beds.
"Now," my mother smiled happily. "Head upstairs and drop your things off in your rooms. I'll meet you both in the spa in ten minutes."
I was half considering Hayden's offer to meet up for black jack.
-
I threw myself down onto the bed, letting my body collapse into the soft mattress and pillows. I kicked off my tall red stilettos, allowing for them to crash down onto the floor below me.
Even my dress was starting to feel uncomfortable.
"I'll be back in a bit," Wren smiled as she pulled her purse over her shoulder. She slipped her room key into her purse, sliding her feet back into her heels as she did.
"Where are you going?" I whined, rolling onto my left side to look at her. "I'm exhausted, and you should be too."
"I'm going to see Jay," she spoke quickly. "Don't wait up."
With that, Wren strode out of the room, closing the door behind her.
I rolled over onto my back, looking up at the white ceiling as my mind fell back to the long day we'd had.
I got up, padding across the carpeted floor and to the large window waiting near my bed.
Pulling back the curtains, I opened the room up the best view of the Las Vegas strip that there was. I smiled before falling back onto the bed. I was exhausted, and nothing could could beat the view and the comfy bed at the moment.
The entire day had been filled with strange massages, saunas, and large tropical drinks before we'd met up with the guys for dinner. The walk to the restaurant had been a bitch to put it lightly. I couldn't have chosen a worse pair of shoes to wear for walking.
Once we'd gotten back to the hotel, I'd assumed Wren and I would call it a night along with the others, but evidently, she needed to see Jay, leaving me alone in our room.
I closed my eyes, basking in the silence for only a minute before the buzzing sound at the door caught my attention. The door popped open, and I could hear her set her key back down on the table near the door before closing the door once more.
"That was quick," I teased. I flipped over again, only this time seeing Hayden strode into the room.
He reached up, loosening his tie before tossing it onto the bed that was meant to be Wren's. It was currently covered in her many outfit choices for the evening, and now, Hayden's tie had been cast atop of it all.
He flopped down next to me, reaching out and placing a hand on my waist before pulling me closer.
"I'll be good, I promise. I'll even sleep over there on top of all Wren's clothes. But please, don't make me sleep in the same room as the lovebirds."
I couldn't contain my laughter at the disgust on his face.
"Are they really that bad?" I asked, trying to ignore as he pulled me in closer. I didn't want to ruin the moment between us, not when Hayden was acting normal again.
He nodded surely, "oh yeah. They started making out the second Wren walked into the room. I had to dig through her purse for her room key, and they didn't even notice when I left."
I smiled, patting his shoulder and nodding back at him.
"If Wren comes back-"
"Then I'm gone," Hayden agreed. "But I doubt she's leaving any time soon."
I sighed, attempting to move away from Hayden's hold. Only, it became quite clear that he didn't want me moving.
He pushed himself closer to me before he removed his hand from my waist, reaching up to fix a bit of my hair as it had fallen into my face.
"You looked..." He trailed off, letting his eyes find my own. "There aren't words, Blaine."
I could feel my breathing quicken as his hand found it's way back to my waist, Hayden giving me a quick squeeze as he leaned in a bit more.
"Tell me to stop and I will," he whispered. "But right now seems as perfect as it can get."
I parted my lips as I wanted to speak, but seeing the look in his eyes, I couldn't find the words. I could feel my body drawing closer to his, and his lips were just above my own before I could even register it.
"I've been dying to kiss you since the Hamptons," he whispered before his lips brushed against my own.
I wanted to pull away, every fiber of my being wanted to for a split second, but soon enough, the kiss confused me; and Hayden himself pulled me further and further into his heavenly oblivion.
I struggled to find something to hold onto, his lips being the only thing on my mind as I finally grasped at his dress shirt, clinging to it as if my life depended on it.
His fingers clung to my waist, gripping into the fabric of my dress longingly as he depended the kiss, searching be for any means to get closer to me. Before I knew it, Hayden was crawling over to me, placing his knees on either side of my hips to hold himself up.
He broke the kiss, leaving me breathless as he began trailing kisses down my neck. I bit my lip in an attempt to pull myself out of the daze that Hayden had me in, but it
was useless, I wanted him to kiss me as much as he had wanted to kiss me.
"Scar," he breathed against my ear, pulling back from me for only a second. "You didn't stop me."
I shook my head, reaching up to thread my fingers in his hair. "I didn't want you to."
