Change?

It had been over two weeks since Shawn came home.

I decided to forget that it ever even happened.

That was the best thing to do, I had convinced
myself.

"Did you not hear the bell? School is out!" Lacie shook me by the shoulders.

I stood up and picked up my backpack.

We were in the same classroom I was in when I was called to the office.

I shook my head and faked a smile.

I needed to try harder to forget about Shawn.

"Do you want to come to the mall with me? I have family pictures tomorrow and my Mum wants me to buy the outfits?" Lacie asked, once we were walking down the hall.

"I'm in!" That will help me get my mind off of Shawn.

Lacie and I were driving to the mall when my phone buzzed.

I look to see that it was a text, but I couldn't say that I was too happy when I saw Shawn's name on my screen.

Shawn: You don't know how sorry I am.

Claire: Leave me alone

Shawn: I can't. I've left you alone for two weeks and there's not a single second you're not on my mind.

Claire: You left me alone for six months, it shouldn't be that hard. Have a nice day! Wait, I take that back. Have a HORRIBLE day.

Shawn: I need you to believe me!

Claire: Things have changed!

Shawn: What do you mean?

I locked my phone and sighed.

  "Boys are stupid."

"What now?" Lacie asked.

"Shawn came home and he's wanting me back." She gave me a sorry look.

"Ignore him. I mean, that's what he did to you, right? Give him a taste of his own medicine!"

My phone screen lit up and I glanced down at it.

Shawn: How did things change?

"Let's go." I slid my phone into my pocket and walked into the mall with Lacie.

After an hour of shopping, we had found the perfect outfits for her parents and herself.

The last person on the list was Kyle, her little brother.

We were then in some kind of men's clothing store.

"What do you think about this one? Or how about this?" Lacie placed another shirt into my arms, as she looked through the racks.

"I don't think he would care." I told her honestly.

Lacie thought for a moment and her face lit up.

"Go try them on!"

"No way!"

"You're about the same size as him. GO!" She pushed me toward the dressing room and I got a weird look from the worker.

Knowing that Lacie would keep bothering me until I tried them on, I did as I was told.

When I walked back out, I fidgeted with the tag that was poking my armpit.

"I like this one. It would match best with the other outfits." I finally look up and start blushing when I see not only Lacie, but Shawn behind her.

"Is this what you meant by change? Are you a lesbian?"

Shawn looked at me with wide eyes.

"Yes!" I shouted before I could think.

I turned around and ran back into the changing room, and stayed in there not wanting to be seen.

Why did I just tell Shawn that I was a lesbian?
