After getting ready for school, I walked downstairs to see if I could find something to eat before I had to go.

My Mum walked into the kitchen after I decided to eat some yogurt and fruit.

"Do you want to tell me what happened last night?" She sat on the chair across from me.

"Nothing." I mumbled.

"I'm not letting you leave until you tell me what happened." She glanced at the clock to see that I had ten minutes before I had to leave.

"Nothing!" I shouted.

  "Can you stop interrogating me like I'm a criminal?"

"Claire, you can talk to me." She let out a sigh, obviously trying to hide her frustration with me but she wasn't doing a very good job at it.

"I'm going to be late." I stood up and went to my room to finish getting ready.

"Don't ignore me! CLAIRE!" My Mum yelled after me, but I ignored.

I brushed my teeth and fixed my hair a little bit more.

I looked down at my phone and saw that Shawn had texted me while I was talking with my Mum.

Shawn: hey babe, sorry I didn't text you last night. I knew you would be asleep and I didn't want to to wake you. ❤️ I have good news and bad news...

  Butterflies fluttered around in my stomach.

He was so thoughtful and cute!

I started to panic when I read his last sentence.

Clover: Bad news first

Shawn: I broke my wrist

Clover: How could you have been so stupid?! Ugh, you're lucky I love you

Shawn: I know, I was being careless... But it was all to see you so it was definitely worth it! Wait you love me?

Clover: So what's the good news?

Shawn: Don't change the subject! You love me?

Clover: what's the good news?

Shawn: You're so complicated. Good news is that I can spend all day with you!

Clover: I have school today. Don't you too?

Shawn: I'm famous, I don't need to go to school anymore. Convince your Mum to excuse you, play sick!

Clover: She won't let me.

Shawn: I wanted to spend the day with my princess :(

Clover: I'll work something out

Shawn: THANK YOU DINO. YOU ARE THE BEST DINO I KNOW!

I laughed and slide my phone into my pocket.

I walked back into the kitchen to see my Mum still sitting on the same chair, reading some news article.

"Mum, I don't feel too good." I held onto my stomach to make it seem more realistic.

"Claire you were just fine a few minutes ago, you will be okay at school."

"I barely got any sleep last night." I make up another excuse.

"You wouldn't be tired if you didn't have boys sneaking into your bedroom at one in the morning, now would you? Go to school." She demanded, pointing to the door.

"Fine." I picked up my backpack by the back door and walked outside.

There was no negotiating with my Mum.

Instead of walking to school I walked to Shawn's house.

If she wasn't going to excuse me from school, then I'd have to ditch school.
