Número Uno (continued 3x)
In order to get to the forest, Addison would have to walk through a desert and then a grassland. Without much food, she would have to hunt, and in order to hunt, she would need weapons. She quickly fashioned a makeshift spear** out of some flint on the ground, and a leftover piece of wood, most likely from the burned remains of the library, which was located at the edge of town. The dry ground of the desert crunched underneath her boots as she took the first step into the desert. After walking for about an hour, Addison saw a group of people in the distance. She approached carefully trying not to stir too many animals that may be lying around. A lizard scuttled off into the distance, but other than that, she was alone for the time being. The group of people came closer and closer until they were almost on top of her. Four men and two women surrounded her, and she instinctively got into a fighting stance. The group stared at her in silence, as if trying to figure her out.
The tallest man then spoke, "Do you worship The One True Speaker?"
Addison froze. She looked at him with a puzzled expression on her face.
"The One True what?" she asked
"She is not! Let us leave her to the lions! They will make a quick meal of her." one of the women spoke, almost hissing.
"She has something! In her hands! Grab it." The tallest man said. He seemed to be their leader because, without moments delay, three men and two women lurched forward. Addison screamed, kicking out as hard as she could. She heard a groan and saw one of the women fall on her knees, holding her bleeding nose. Addison ran, her heart and head pounding. As she pulled farther away, she noticed something was missing from her hands. Her mothers dark olive green cloak.
